ridethelightning1984 submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone was THE greatest that I ever had. I bought it shortly after it came out - a little over 4 years ago I believe. When my 2 year upgrade came after the first 2 years, I skipped it to keep this phone. Why, you may ask? Well, I have reasons.

Pros
BATTERY LIFE - I had the extended battery and it could go through a week of HEAVY usage before it needed to be charged.
CAMERA - It was only a 1.3 MP but it had autofocus - pictures looked beautiful on it.
KEYBOARD - Perfectly laid out, comfortable, and you could write lightning fast on it.
FEATURES - For a phone this old it was feature packed.

There are some CONS
SIZE - It was huge. Made a huge bulge in my pocket and would completely bring my pants down if I didn't have a belt.
MEMORY - used a MiniSD. It took me forever to find one of those. I like MicroSD better!

After almost 4 years of usage, it bit the dust. Just refused to pick up a signal. Verizon couldn't fix it, so they sent me the enV2. It doesnt compare. I have since upgraded to the enV3, which is much better, but still, the VX9800 was the best phone around.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

narn3049 submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Sure, any phone isn't perfect, as is this phone, but it doesn't mean there are going to be some likers of the phone, as is this phone, w me also.

1st phone had broken screen, It wasn;t color the whole screen looked gray.

2. The phone froze at the Verizon turn on screen, a common bug I hear

3. Water damaged, and the keys on the inside sometimes weren't functioning, try texting on that?!?

4. Finally I kept this one, it had no major flaws, I can say looking back at technology, and so far having phones I have dropped and broken, this is one I may go back with because even though I was kind of getting mad at in the other reviews, it is still something I wouldn't complain about getting if I had to.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The perfect purchase? Let's review,

The phone contains a:
-1.3 megapixel camera
-full QWERTY keyboard
-2 LED screens (1 inch and 2 inch)
-dual surround sound speakers
-0.162 dot pitch
- 65K-colors at 128 x 160 px in resolution
-256 x 320 px in resolution
-MSM messaging

This phone is perfect.

leecappella submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I give this phone a 4.5 only because of its size. However, it's worth it! I went through hoops to get this phone. I ended up with this phone because I discovered a software called Bitpim. This would allow me to create my own ringtones instead of choosing from a long list of artists that I did not want to have on my phone. I'm a Donna Summer fan, so I wanted Donna Summer ringtones. Now, I am able to create any ringtone I want from any artist I want and from any section of a song that I want. Thanks to Bitpim, Wavepad, and the LG VX9800's compatibility to perform this task. No money spent on ringtones and the abiblity to custom my phone to my liking. It's a now discontinued phone, but it still rocks!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Honestly I can say I am impressed by performance.
Sorry to say other things also :
I am finding difficult to load MP3 songs locally, Palakkad, Kerala. Not able to use transfer or recive via Bluetooth. Please guide me on this.
I am only proud owner of LG 9800 Hand set in Palakkad, Kerala.
I already checked with your local service people which they were not aware of this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

nerv_2005 submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This was my first step into the world of the QWERTY keyboard and I have to say, it felt good! This phone, although scary in many aspects of how it looks, is a perfect example of "Don't judge a book by it's cover." In a matter of only a month This handset went for my worst enemy to my best friend.

Sporting a flip open profile to hide it's keyboard it saves space when in a pocket and fits very soundly in drink holder. The texting was amazing after 2 years of T9 and required only a week to match texting times. The stereo speakers on the inside offers great sound quality, plus the speaker phone mic has a good pick up for excellent conversations.

Now unfortunately our friend the 9800 doesn't do to good as a "phone". Significant quality drops vs. a normal clamshell or candy bar phone are very noticeable. Many times i find myself either repeating or asking for repetition throughout a conversation without a headset. The Bluetooth is also fairly anti-social in that it will not auto connect to a paired headset. I am regular forced to dive in the menu and make it look for the headset, an annoying problem for an on the go person.

To conclude, The LG VX9800 is an awesome phone for media, texting, and instant messaging, but lacks luster in every aspect of being a phone outside of the speaker phone.

PROS
QWERTY keyboard
-Easy learning curve
-Excellent speaker and speaker phone
-Quick switching from open to closed in Messaging and phone calls

CONS
-Bluetooth doesn't auto connect
-Wallpapers do not fit front screen
-Key guard has been known to close apps and alerts
-poor audio volume when closed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The Thickster submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This LG 9800 is an amazing flip/txt phone. Mainly used for super fast texting, it also supports Verizons V-Cast and plays music video downloads and pretty much any other videos that Ive recorded.....hmm. The speaker sound for the Mp3 is actually the loudest ever made. I can set that little bugger down in the middle of a room full of people and that thing just soars over the somewhat sober yelling (of age sometimes) people. The most useful phone Ive ever had, I use it not only for entertainment purposes but also for Navigation since it has such a large screen and loud sound capabilty its very useful for traveling. I believe its alot better than the 9900 or the "envy" because although its thicker in size the sound is so much louder. If you ever want the best Mp3 phone ever that kills your data bills (because you never want to stop downloading songs cause its basically a stereo) this is the one.

I wouldn't have it any other way!

Make money

The Thickster

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Something just keeps going wrong with them. For my first phone, the vibrate did not work at all. For the second, the key lights went out so I could not see the keys at night. And for the third, calls would not go through and I could not make calls either. And the one I have now randomly turns off while I am texting and calling. I have tried to see if I can just get a whole new model and quit with this phone, but they just keep giving me more of the same phone and none of them work well enough.

If I could go back, I would choose a different phone all together.

SOME...

Pros.
Fast texting when open.
Speaker phone can be loud if needed.
Big screen when open.

Cons.
Small buttons in front.
Dark camera.
Video length is pathetic.
Thick and does not fit in pocket very well.
Speaker phone only works when open
Inbox and outbox for texting fills up very quickly, when it fills, it rejects messages. Not good.

OVERALL...
Don't get this phone unless you are dying to get it. Just not a good phone overall.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Cingular's service was OK, but I was tired of them messing up my bill and having to pay for it. I was also tired of waiting for their 3G services to expand.

First I tried the KRAZR, which I liked, but missed the ability to text quickly so I decided to give the V a try.

Pros:
-Screen
-Call Quality
-Features
-Reception
-Texting

Cons:
-bulky
-ugly

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ThuggedOutVerizonHomie submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

i have owned this phone since it first came out around halloween time last year and i have been pleased with its peformance. I text alot so its definitely the best phone for that (i also tried the f9100 when i was with cingular and was dissapointed). i work for verizon and i always try to stay on top of the technology and this phone has been the pinnacle for a high end non-smart phone since it came out last year.

pro-s

handy double screen design(inside screen is amazingly clear)

full keyboard (for all you texters)

good reception

great battery life

too many features to count

people still want to "play" with it

Cons

size-but hey, it does do pretty much everything.

verizon UI is boring and it cripples the phone but it is very easy to use and navigate through

Overall-great phone, i'd recommend it to anyone who wants to have a cool, feature packed phone. however, i will be switching to the 9900 when it comes out.
-thuggedoutverizonhomie

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

NeoLuddite submitted this review of the LG V VX-9800:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

OK, I'll say it. The primary reason I have a cell phone is communication. Mostly at home, but occasionally on the road and/or camping.

Web stuff and texting are good things... it's just awesome to get the latest weather report real-time, while hanging out on the North side of Mt. Rainier...

However, there are times I'm outside CDMA range, and must have a phone with analog capability.

So, for now, I'm sticking to my web-enabled Motorola V710.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
