MAC TECH ASU submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

The problem with this phone is the camera, it will turn itself on with hardly any pressure applied to the button on the side of the phone. Then you can't use the bluetooth without taking it out of your pocket and opening the phone and turning the camera off. I don't think there is any way of shutting the camera off.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

millerface submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I got this phone used from eBay and it has not disappointed. The external display with full color and customizable wallpaper (internal as well) is nice. Pictures are alright, phone also has video capture which I honestly never use. It has a sleek shell, so it looks fancier than it truly is. The only real fault with it is you have to hold it JUST RIGHT against your ear; if the phone moves the slightest bit you can't hear the other person. Battery life is about a week, but then again I don't talk or text much! Overall, I'd say a good phone for basic use.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

He washed his and it was dead.

However mine was werid, my hands were damp, not wet, and I used it to reply to a quick text and the keypad went out... No not the smartest thing, but still..

Great phone Highly recommended !

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've had the 6102 for a couple of years now and keep going back to it from newer upgrades.

I'm on my 2nd Nokia N75 and it works as advertised with a lot of bells & whistles - but for great, reliable, day-to-day phone usage I carry my 6102 or 6230.

I've had the Moto V3xx, Nokia 6126, Nokia 6085 and returned them all 'cause they couldn't measure up to my 6102 or 6230. They had maybe better internet functionality, music capability, bigger screens, etc. - but for day-to-day phone usage and ease of use they just didn't work !

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The first one stopped ringing and vibrating I said OK sh*t happens got it replaced under warranty no charge besides shipping. The second one lasted about 2 months too the mini display had the Tmobile logo stuck on there no matter what I did it was there ghosting. I finally gave up and got a different phone free of charge too great customer service at tmobile got a T509 I hope this lasts longer. I have to say I did like the radio and the clear pictures and feel and the reception was outstanding along with battery life I just think it is not made to last.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Lexi submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

ok, so when i got this phone...i was SOOOO excited! i got it in november 2005 and i was just soo happy to have a new, cute phone. the first thing i noticed was how easily it go fingerprint on its front cover. i felt as if i was ALWAYS wiping them off! i even had a case for it sometimes and would still be wiping stuff off of it! anyways, soon after, the camera would always say MEMORY FULL. this would be very frustrating, considering i only had like 10 pictures on there. also, i rarely use the camera and the button broke. it like caved in and so i havent been able to use that button ever since. the side buttons seem very cheap and flimsy. also, my side volume key broke today, thats when i decided i should warn people about this phone. also, it always makes me insert a pin-code when i took it off of the setting. i took it into cingular and they gave me a new phone, which continued the problems. my keys are broken again, when i am very gentle with my things. ALSO, this is the worst thing, it usually, like once a day, will say INSERT SMARTCHIP, or SMARTCHIP NOT READY. and then it will like turn on and off and go crazy. it makes me so mad. it usually has good serivice though, thats about the only good thing. also, i had to get another new phone because it wouldnt let me send a text message even though i was paying for the ones i was trying to send! cingular ended up letting me have 2 free months for that though. but, this christmas i am switching to verizon wireless, and i am hoping that one of their phones will work better for me. i hope this helps u decide to not get the nokia 6102 with cingular. it has sooo many problems. it was very annoying, and i was sooooooo excited to get the phone, and then my excitment stopped when i noticed all the promblems i was having. good luck finding the right phone, but i dont think this is it!
-lexi
p.s. i really hope that this review helped u out. i wish i would have read something like this before i bought it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

deezaster submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I had the 6101 for six months and it was not the greatest phone. The memory capacity is terrible. I was always having to clean out my text messages and image folder to make more room. The video quality was terrible. The text message process was a pain.

However, the phone was very durable. I smashed in the trunk door of my car and it still works. Nokia never fails to impress me with durability, that's for sure.

I can't say this is the best phone, but I can't say it's the worst phone either. I didn't have any problems with reception and I didn't have any dropped calls. If you just want something basic that works, this is the phone with you. If you want to be impressed, this is NOT the phone for you. I have a Samsung e635 now, and even though it lacks the video option, it's much better than the 6101.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Its small yet not so small as to be uncomfortable. Sound quality is great both incoming and outgoing, I am on T-Mobile's network and use the phone in both the New York City area as well as the Miami, Fort Lauderdale area.
As for the volume issue I find that when set to the automatic volume setting the earpiece volume is fine.
The only negative is the camera with I never use, but I don't have much use for a camera in a call phone anyway

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

nonokia submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for a year now and can't wait to be eligible for an upgrade. I only got it because it was a cheap upgrade to my old Motorola when I signed a contract. I used to love Nokia when I was in high school, especially for the games (snake). Now, the games stink (no snake). I am certainly ready for a new phone, as this one has been nothing wo

Pros:
- Pretty clear speakerphone.
- Can turn pictures taken into wallpaper or use for incoming calls.
- Nokie "profiles" are always good.
- Still works after having been dropped a few times (not the cause of the screen cracks).
- Can customize main screen and main menus
- Ummm it still works?

Cons:
- In-call sound quality could be much better.
- The send/end buttons are mixed up. The call button is on the left instead of the right. Weird and confusing at first.
- Certain actions lag, like when trying to go into menus or cancel a call before it starts ringing.
- Can't change the sound for reminders, among other things, which is REALLY annoying cuz the default one is too quiet.
- No "missed calls" log, only received calls with either a check mark or nothing next to it.
- Camera quality is pitiful, with no zoom, video camera is even worse and only for 15 sec clips.
- Audio recorder not very good quality, but you can make it your ringer, which is kinda cool.
- The main screen has broken TWICE, from nothing. I carry it in my pocket, take it out, and it's somehow busted. Got it fixed once, not again.
- Text message folders are confusing, never anything in Outbox and hard to organize message you want to save.
- If you miss a call, doesn't make any sort of sound or vibration to notify you, and no options to do so.
- Randomly loses data, such as a name in 1-touch dialing menu.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

oldschoolmobile submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I purchased the 6102 from my local Cingular dealer hoping that it would be a very close match in features as the Sony W600i. It DOES have most of the features of the Sony, but has a few nagging flaws. First, is the fact that Cingular decided that we should have to buy the headphone dongle seperately, unlike as with T-Mobile, it's included in the box. Second, the menu functions are rediculously S L O W!!! When you hit the "menu" key, it takes a full 2 seconds for it to perform that particular function. Rediculous! When you access the "games" folder, it takes about 5-8 seconds to go through things there. And let's not forget about the measly little 4MB of "storage" space. Now, as far as use goes, it is really simple to use. I only had to use the instruction manual for one particular instance and that's it. Call reception was usually fairly good, only had a few instances of dropped calls. For some reason, the signal level fluctuated more than on my W600i I have now. Not too bad of a mid level phone, but there's better to be had.

PROS

Easy to use
Good reception
Good batt. life
Pic quality surprisingly good for a VGA camera
Stylish
Good "bang for buck"
Great blue-tooth operation

CONS

S L O W and sluggish menu functions
Not enough storage and no expandability
Not enough options to customize phone
Phone would need resetting periodically

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I've had both the T-Mobile version (6101) and the Cingular Version (6102). They both worked the same to me. They were both good basic phones.

Pros:
Good signal
decent camera/video
Fm radio played excellently.
Ringers were loud

Cons:
Small-as-hell memory
Low video time

Overall, I was pleased with these basic phones, but it was definitely time for bigger and better things.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dan327 submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Pros -
It's a NOKIA FLIP PHONE! Perfect size, extremely user friendly, camera with video, audio messaging, reliable phone I have used it for almost a year (October 2005 to now September 2006). Good battery life no noticeable memory issues.

Cons -
Displays are NOT as crisp, clear and bright as other phones. Sound is OK could be better, the 6102 has 3 themes but no easy way to get more, Cingular & Nokia do not offer any at this time. No Bluetooth. Low resolution camera pics & video are low quality.

Cingular now offers the 6102i which has improved features and Bluetooth.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

SirVette submitted this review of the Nokia 6101 / 6102:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Pros Reception, call quality, long battery life, elegant design, interface, external caller i.d., Speakerphone, FM Stereo

Cons None

The 6101 is one of the best cell phones for performance i.e. reception, call quality & excellent battery life. It has an elegant design w/ one of the best keyboards which I normally operate with one hand. There are six programmable button positions. Top left is a Go To which can be set to a list including Ringing volume, Silent, Missed calls, mailbox, etc. The central navigation key has 4 customizable positions- upper, lrft, right & lower which works great on phonebook, down to select & rock back to center to call. Shortcut button on right can be set to one item like Calendar, Alarm clock, Radio, etc.

FM Stereo radio is included with a stereo headset. Sound quality is at least very good though most would call it excellent. Phone calls mute the radio, play the ring tone & can be answered which works nicely.

External caller I.D. screen with signal & battery strength & clock can include date.

Speakerphone can be turned on during a call.

Camera has 3 quality settings & a night mode. The high quality setting works very well in both normal & night vision mode. Best for relatively close up shots as seems to be typical for cell phone cameras. Zoom can be used to check focus after a pic. is taken.
Games can be deleted.
Battery life is as much as double some others. (Talk time about 6.5 hrs.+)

NOKIA got this one right!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
