1Misha submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I know that this phone is a little old but it is still amazing even by today's standards IMO. I had it for about a year with.. T-Mobile I think.

The reception was AMAZING- I used to get service in basements and where no one else would.

The earpiece and speaker were plenty loud and clear

The UI, in style of the simple motorola Synergy UI (I think)-same as that on the RAZR V3's. Was very simple to use.

This phone also has a MicroSD (transflash) hot-swappable slot. Impressive I think for an older phone.

One of my favorite parts of the phone is the camera. Its 1.3 megapixel but the best part is that it takes pictures relatively quick. Even though the pictures are often a little blurry around the edges, they are great for the most part. Motorola cameras (as far as sub 3megapixel camera phones go) are the best. The pics might be a little blurry but the quality is overall very good and UNIFORM . On other phones, the pics come out extremely sharp or with purple around the edges or patches which look like theres oil on the lens. Many pics I took in daylight were of amazing quality and my current phone (samsung a707 with a 2MP camera) sucks compared to the v635. So if you're looking for a good camera phone which takes amazing candid shots- this is it!

I actually gave the phone to my dad after I got the samsung and regretted it. He's still using it and likes it.

I always wished that Motorola would continue its v-series phones (I used the v400 previously and also loved it). The higher v phones are really downgraded and ugly after the v635- they became low-end bottom line unfortunitely.

Conclusion- It's excellent as a phone, very very good as a camera, has a MicroSD slot, and looks good. If internet browsing and e-mail checking and all that mumbo jumbo doesn't interest you, then you will love this cell phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

zvadim submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

basically it's a v600 with some bugs ironed out, transflash slot, color outer display and vibe & ring at the same time. I've bought it on eBay unlocked & unbranded and have been using it with Cingular for about 2 years now.

Pros:
aluminum outer construction

good size screen

highly customizable (the web is full of info)
lots of features

mature OS with nice interface

Quad-band & Edge
"flash light"

Cons

shaky reception quality in mixed 850/1900 Cingular areas.

Some users will experience @^ voice mail bug that'll require them to become a phone flash & modify expert :)

Stupid power & data connectors that deteriorate with use. Standard USB would've been awesome.

if you store your phone book on the SIM card you can't have multiple phone numbers for one name

front face plate can slide off too easily at times.

Battery life should be better, I can't really go over two days w/out charging even with little use. Typically a "regular" user would have to charge it every night.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Then once I upgrade the software in the phone, the video camera can film as much the memory card permit. The speakerphone, earpiece, and ringer volume I turned up so I can hear it in loud places. Oh yeah I put Itunes on it. So now its a phone with real features! One more thing you can easily configure with any gsm network; just ask a tech!

The only con is nothing!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Excellent reception, bluetooth is hassle-free, tons of features. Comparable to RAZR, SLVR and other top of the line phones. Great MP3s, fast EDGE, great battery life. What can I say? For $176 it's a no brainer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

raycheuk submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Well i've only had the V635 for alittle over 24hrs so far but it's been great. If you liked the V600 or any other Vxxx Series, you'll love the V635. Motorola has worked out all the quirks, Finally!! I'm using it on Cingular(GSM 850)in the West Tennessee area.

PROS:
Excellent RF (Reception)
Great earpiece volume
EDGE (Class 4)
Search function in phonebook(Finally!!!)
External color screen
1.2 Megapixel Camera(actually very nice for a phone)
Video Capture(w/sound)
Bluetooth
Loud MP3 ringtones
Removable Transflash Card(512mb max SO FAR)
METAL changable faceplates
Uses same chargers, cables, etc as other Vxxx Series phones.(Holster for V4/500 series fits perfect)

CONS:
None to speak of, performance wise.
Have manually set up your WAP, MMS, etc.
Very few games available for it.
Not alot of accessories available yet.
Insurance won't cover it, because it isn't supported by any U.S. carriers YET.

I DEFNATELY recommend it, especially if your a gadget freak. I go through phones rather fast, I get one, get bored with it, sell it and get another. I think I'll be keeping this one for while.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

lilbutterfly76 submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Well I have to say that I LOVE this phone. I've never had a phone with as many features before (I originally had the Motorola V551 and it was a nice phone, but this one far surpasses it). I have never had an MP3 player before and LOVE it. I've downloaded quite a few songs and still have room to add more so find that a bonus. Camera has great resolution and the sound quality is great. (It's way better when you have your earphones in though). The resolution on the internal screen of the phone is great. A few of my cons would be the fact that the volume still doesn't seem that high. Also a bit more built in memory would be nice too. Finally as it has an MP3 it would be nice to have a little more bass too it. At least in the headphones anyways. And though it comes with headphones, I must say that I HATE earbuds as I find they don't stay in that well. It would be great to get earphones that maybe wrap around your ears therefore ensuring they stay were they're supposed to and also maybe stay a little farther in the ears so less distraction. Finally it would be nice if the MP3 Player had a fast forward button in case you want to skip a few parts of a song. All in all this is a phenomenal phone and I recommend it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

alevin submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

After much research and thought I decided to buy this phone. It works much better than the V551 I had before. The reception on T-mobile in Bakersfield, CA is better and clearer on this phone than the V551 on Cingular, even though they have a tower sharing agreement in my area.

Yes, because it was not picked up by a US carrier, you have to change the browser setting, but a good technical support agent, (T-Mobile's Level 3 tech support are the BEST) can get that fixed in minutes.

The things I love about the phone are:

1. The 1.3 MP camera
2. The MP3 player
3. The Trans Flash capability
4. The metal casing
5. The phone changing from vibrate to ring
when put on the charger.
6. Of course, the better reception

The things that I don't really like are:

1. Having to go some tweaking to get it to
work on the US systems, but I guess that
is the price you pay for buying a phone
that is not supported in the US.

All in all the phone works great. I would recommend this phone highly to anyone who wants a phone that is better than anything currently offered in the US.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

budworth submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I bought this phone about 2-3 months ago and although it wasn't flawless, it worked great. However recently this phone as become virtually unusable.

1) My vm service center number keeps randomly deleting so I have to set it up everytime I want to check my vm. And, of course I still get the text message from nobody when I do check my vm.

2) my reception has dropped tremendously (even in places where I previously had good reception);

3) The video camera only takes 60 sec videos at a time, no matter how much memory you have left.

4) I automatically can't get or maintain service inside or outside my calling area and have to manually search (to no avail) for the network,

5) the phone freezes or locks up randomly causing me to have to disconnect the battery.

I should have known there was a reason no carriers picked it up. This phone is terribly unstable. I will probably never an unlocked phone (that's doesn't have a carrier counterpart) again.

My only hope to salvage the $250 I wasted is to is to try and flash/flex it. (which I have absolutely no experience doing and will probably kill the thing anyway)

Prices have been dropping drastically lately, but be smart and stay away from this piece of junk!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

michelleb530 submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Great phone
- Built in 1.3mp camera, great functionality, with flash
- mp3 player, came with 512mb sandisk trans flash card
- free usb cable included, which lets me use the phone as a mass storage device, also it can be used for other things like customizing the phonne, trasnfering stuff to and from it
- better than expected battery life, it lasts almost a week for me with minor usage.

one thing I can't figure out is I have a 4BR firmware and not sure where I have to start to go to the latest firmware.

Also using the firmware I have the sound recording memory limit is set to 60 seconds.. even though the phone has about 8mb free space I can only record 60 seconds of voice before I run out of memory & I can't allocate more memory for the voice recorder, I have to delete the 60 second file to record another, also can't seem to move the sound recordings out of the phone, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

radzhome submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Awsome phone, I see motorola did a good job with this one, fixed alot of the issues the V220 had and the v551. THe battery life is improved, lasts about a week. The usb cable that comes with the phone easily plugs into your pc as a mass storage device and lets you fill the phone up with alot of things or just download stuff from the phone. The mp3 player is great lets me listen to tunes in the car hooked up to my system, the 1.3mp camera is great too, phone is a little big tho, and the navigation takes some getting used to. I think its a great phone loaded with tons of features you just wont find in a v3 razar.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Danricofer submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I use to have a Sony Ericsson S700i cell phone, but I needed more speed to download (EDGE) and a smaller phone, so, I decided to get the v635 after a long compare between several options of nice phones from SE, Nokia, Motorola and so on. The best I saw cost/benefic phone is this, with him you get a real MP3 player plus Pendrive, an excellent price for accessories and a very good quality of voice/video messaging.

It lacks on don't come with double stereo headsets for music like my old S700i did, and its screen is also small for a very complexity piece it is, but, nothing is perfect :-)

I recommend it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Let's see, this phone caught my eye from Rogers Wireless so I grabbed it. I get about 6 1/2 hours talk time and yes I actually get that, thanks. Reception is great. I love the phone!!

PRO's
Reception is wicked and I'm in Toronto Canada I never loose a signal, even in underground parking
Long Batter life 6 1/2 hours talks time.
Wicked ring tones, I've made my own and uploaded it to the phone
Memory card 512 great for music
A kick ass head set.
The key pad is great to use, big buttons
Awesome looking phone

CONs

It's a little slow when transferring music from the computer to the Phone, your better off using a memory card reader, its much faster, comes with the SD flash card adapter.

Heavy phone, but at least u know u have it on you LOL

Great phone all around, if your looking for a heavy duty phone this is the one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

goyabean2k5 submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone is great it has everything i need from Listening to my MP3's to watching episodes of Family Guy on my phone! If you get the 512 transflash memory card(which is a bitch to get)you don't need to go on MP3 player just use the sounds to listen to your music. The video and camera are okay i really don't take pictures so i really don't know it's capabilities there. The thing that got me to buying this phone was it's capabilities(i was undecided to get a i-pod or a new phone) this phone adressed my needs. I really needed a new phone i had that crappy siemens cf62(piece of CRAP). The only thing i don't like about the phoen it that it blanks out everyone once in a while.

P.S: Get the 512 transflashmemory card at a cingular store and tell them you got a Rockr online and you want to get a better memory card. Don't show them any phone with a transhflash memory card they won't sell you the memory card.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

05civse submitted this review of the Motorola V635:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for a few days now (replaced my v300 that fell into a pan of lacquer thinner) and it is awesome. I have had NO programing problems and it performs flawlessly! picture quality is incredible and takes great videos. It says that the limit for video length is 15 secs, untrue!! i got mine to take 1 min. and 45 sec. videos just buy going into the video setup window and changing the "video length" from mms (restricted to 15 secs so it will be small enough of a file to fit in a text message) to "maximum". this phone blows me away!

Pros:
*transflash! with a 512 mb card it can hold over 650 pics, around 690 mins. of mp3s, or over 100 mins. of video!!!!!
*very user friendly
*2 ways to listen to mp3s (mp3 player app. or in the "sounds" file)
*killer looks
*great batt. life
*tons of features
*the golf game and pic. editor are fun
*easy to transfer music to it
*simple to make rig tones from mp3s from parts of a song (can select where it starts, how long it goes, fade options, from a 1 sec blip of a song to the entire song) with Motorola's phone tools
*i could go on forever but now i just want to play with it!!!

Cons:
*cant think of any besides not offered by any U.S. carriers so you have to buy it from e-bay or something like that (although the e-bay sellers include tons of extras. i got a car charger, transflash card w/ sd adapter, leather case, Motorola's phone tools cd and usb cord, headphones, European to U.S. wall plug adapter, and something else that i can't remember for $250 shipped!!and with no contract!!)

Pro:
*the one con is a pro!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
