narn3049 submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone is AMAZING. IF you can still find a deal on it. I hardly see them available anymore. I've left this model and got a LG Voyager, but looking at maybe getting a treo and that phone is awesome. I came from a V710 to this phone. This was a certain change.

Pros:
Great Camera with Video (V710 also has video)
Great sound quality
VCAST
Everything else

Cons:
Nothing, i guess with all the features the battery goes weak fast but nothing an extended battery or more charging can't fix.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I love everything about it, everything works like a dream and its so pretty. I just wish it looked like a rumor but with everything the moto e815 has to offer.

Pros: Loud
Pictures look awesome and clear.
It says from who the text is from, and the call plus a picture on the outside screen!
nice font size, three awesome skins, cool wallpapers, nice ring-tones and wow. u can customize it how you want. its just lovely.

Cons:....hmm....none.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

picksix submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I agree with you, peakcelln. The Motorola E815 is the best. I got one back in 2006. I used it till 2008 when upgrade time came and I let somebody convince me to retire the E815 and get one of the LG touchscreen jobbies. I tolerated that phone with its poor reception, inaccurate scrolling, boomy earpiece, short battery life, etc. for over a year. Recently, though, I reactivated my E815 after remembering that it was the best cellphone I ever owned. I charged it up and activated it online and transferred my phone book. Heck, this time around I'm even using a 2GB memory card and have hours and hours of music on the E815. I also got an extended battery and cover off of ebay. Now I am back to really enjoying my cellphone instead of catering to it. The Motorola E815 is the best! This time I'm sticking with it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

PeakCelln submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

As an "Old School" Cell phone guy in the industry over 17rs, I feel I have a basis to talk about certain phones; especially this one. I have built well over 100 of these for my customers. It is a very stable phone with the best reception and durabilty of any all around VZW phone. Reception & Durability used to be the 2 top criteria used when buying a phone. Somehow the industry has "Dummed" down itself(& the buying public)into believing all phones have the same reception and durability;& all you need to decide is on their features, the real Industry revenue streams. In my field tests, this phone was only beaten by the Nokia 3589i and Nokia 6015(In a dual mode area) and even beat alot of trimodes;Very strange). So rest assured, if you cant get out with this phone, you can't get out with anything on VZW & youre most likely in a bad VZW area.
The next high scoring area is fixability. This is the ability to obtain parts for a specified phone and ease of repair. I personally have hundreds of each part for this phone(Along with many other reputable repair guys) and can fix anything (Except the motherboard) in 5 minutes or less. It is extremely important to buy a "Fixable" phone. Newer phones may not have the parts available to fix it. I always suggest go onto Ebay and lookup "LCD" and "Flex"; if anything pops up, then parts may be available. If they dont, I would seriously consider buying another phone, because repairing may be impossible and replacement will cost hundreds of dollars.
Combining the Reception, Durabilty, and fixability with a decent 1.3 mp camera, EVDO, and Bluetooth, makes this still one of the best Verizon phones ever.
The one achilles heal on this phone is the charger. HOWEVER, when customers are taught to baby the charger and that only a slight touch is needed to connect it(Along with pushing the button on the charger when disconnecting) I have seen this phone last for years and over 3000 hrs; literally 10x what phones now last. This is a GREAT PHONE!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I read these reviews and I just don't understand how all these people get screwed up phones. I have owned my E815 for over 3 years and I have never had ANY of the problems that most of these folks talk about. I have beat hell out of this phone and it still works till this day. The charging problem 99% of the people talk about, in my world, is a myth. I plug my E815 and it charges every time. If I have to say one bad thing about this phone is the vibrate feature. It could be stronger.

I know I'm going to anger some people but I have an idea.....LEARN to use the phone first, it might help you in the future.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

truthReviewsafter2years submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I'm an everyday joe who does not care what image my phone projects to others, I don't have fancy add-ons not even a wired hands free device just my phone and my hands. or play with firmware, or basically playing with the phones program to "tweak" it. No other cables have been plugged into this phone but the charger. I use my phone everyday and have for the last 23 months. I read all the original reviews from when the phone was new and the latest and greatest. WHY did I give the phone a 2.0 I'll save you time and tell you the WORST part about this phone.
The phones charger connection (plug receptacle) to the phones board is a huge mistake on the part of Motorola. The design makes the actual solder points snap off. You have to plug it in with a surgeons steady hand and lay it on a pillow and not touch it till its charged. Drop lightly with the plug in and SNAP, Your dog steps on it in the car SNAP.
The phone gets a 2.0 because a phone that can't charge or even get power from the plug to make a call is a worthless phone. I will not work. This problem makes even talking about the other features pointless. It was a bad phone and all of them should have been replaced. SO the need for a list of pros and cons is pointless.
I read reviews are suppost to be "nice" this is a nice review.
All cell phones should have a durable charge plug and a battery that will last at least 2 years. Many cell phones have a middle man problem and thats the control chip in the phone that controls how long the battery is actually charged among other important things related to battery charging.
This is the first phone since the brick I have ever had problems with. Every phone I every had I still have and they all worked well till each phones retirement. This phone is loosing its pension and being tossed in the garbage. No other person should have to go Thieu with what I had to go thru.. 5 e815's in total in just shy of 2 years. All suffered from complete charging system failure.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ReelDesigner submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for 2-1/2 years and am finally getting a new one.

First off, this is a great phone. It's sturdy and has great clarity with lots of functions and features.

However, it froze on me all of the time and by the end of its life it was a CHORE to get it to charge (not the fault of the battery). I had four chargers and only one of them I could get to work if I twisted the cable in the connection just right and then wrapped the cord around the phone so it wouldn't move.

Pros:
*Great pictures
*Excellent reception
*Great call clarity
*Sturdy (dropped plenty of times)
*Bright flash works great as a flashlight
*Easy to use

Cons:
*Loved to freeze and lock up (I swapped the phone 3 times and all 3 did).
*Charge/Date port is a terrible design and wears out over time making it difficult/impossible to charge or data swap. In the end, I was unable to transfer my phone book over. (Both my wife and my e815s had the same problem)
*Charging often has strange side-effects:
-Phone will sometimes continuously reboot while charging (both my wife's and my e815s would occasionally do this).
-Charging changes your sound settings (if you have it one vibrate and plug it in it might change to loud. Vibrate-then-ring would ALWAYS shut off as soon as I charged it and not turn back on.)
-Sometimes my text message ringer would change back to default.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ZooperS submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I bought this USED phone on eBay after it had been flashed to Cricket Wireless. I was switching from a T-Mobile prepaid account to Cricket because I had signed my girlfriend up for a Cricket account about a year earlier and she got better service and coverage with her service and cheap phone that I did with my T-Mobile. This phone replaced my Samsung X495, which I was very happy with.

I have found this phone to be super reliable, easy to use, packed with features (most of which I'll never use), and something that I plan to hold on to for a long, long time.

I have this Motorola e815 and she has an LG LX150. We like them both, but I affectionately refer to this as "my Hummer compared to her Toyota". This is an absolute workhorse, ugly though it may be. I has been dropped on a few occasions with no effect on it. Not a good idea to be sure.

PROS:
Long Battery Life
Extra Loud Ringer and earpiece volume
Bluetooth Capable (easily paired up with my
Plantronics headset)
Great Voice and Number Recognition
Internal and External Color Screens are large
Micro SD Card Slot
Overall Ease of Use
NEVER dropped a call even in Mexico near the
US Border

The only CONS I can think of is the camera is quite mediocre at best. This isn't even an issue with me. If I want to take a pic then I have a digital camera for that.

To sum it up, I can't think of a thing that I have to say that is bad about this phone. I am a senior and this is just about as complicated as I can get.

Highly Recommended.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jsunhearst submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

What a great phone. Too bad the defective charging plug design rendered this phone useless.

I first had the V710 which died because the charging port and plug refused to connect. Verizon gave me an E815 as a replacement. The E815 was basically a newer version of the V710 but still used the same charging port setup. I began having the same problem almost immediately. They replaced my phone at a rate of one per 3 months until I finally gave up and switched to an LG VX8300.

PROS:
Great Reception
Durable
Long Battery Life (when it charged)
Loud Ringer

CONS:
Defective charging port/plug
Weak Vibration Setting
Phone book did not support multiple numbers under one name

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

paradigmevo submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I got this phone when I switched to Verizon from Nextel and have never looked back. Previously, any cell phone I had or used just seemed like a toy that I may or may not break by the time I was done using it. This phone, though, has been amazing.

I work landscaping, so this phone gets abused. It's been rained on, kicked, thrown, dropped in gravel, dropped in mud and it just keeps right on working.

It's a little short on some of the features, but since I use it as a phone and not a toy, that's never been of concern to me.

Pros:
Incredibly solid construction
No lag
External antennae
Expandable memory

Cons:
None, really.

Like I said, it's a little short on features like games or internet, but it is a phone, not a computer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Force submitted this review of the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I purchased my E815 back in 2005 and never got around to leaving a review, so I'll post a few comments now as I get ready to retire it.

This was simply the best phone I've owned, period. Solid construction, classy good looks, excellent feature set. The volume on the ringers and speakerphone can go very loud when you need it, without much distortion. The lens on the 1.3MP camera is recessed, giving it some protection from scratches. The camera itself takes great pictures when compared with other 1.3MP phones.

The earpiece is very well made, calls are loud with excellent clarity. Calls made from this phone are also loud and clear, as I've had many comments on this. Grabs and holds signals well, as I travel through fringe areas at times.

Finally, this phone is easily modified. I edited the seem after I first purchased it so I could freely transfer MP3s and JPEGs, a feature Verizon had disabled.

As it's time to upgrade my phone, I'm finding that I compare everything to my E815, which is making the VX8350 I just purchased look a little weak.

Pros:

Excellent reception
Excellent construction
Excellent large display
Excellent camera, with flash
Excellent speakerphone
Excellent call clarity
Classic good looks
Full-featured UI
Easy to restore features Verizon crippled

Cons:

Slight lag when scrolling through Media menu

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There are not that many towers where we are but, I honestly do not have any problems with this phone.
The vibration is not the best but every phone has its problems.
I work for a wireless company and I will be the first to tell you that when you buy not only a phone but anything you get your moneys worth.
I like this phone, it has a lot of nice features about it. Would I run out and buy another one, if there was nothing new at our store than yes.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The only thing I hated about the phone was it was just too bulky and the 1.3 mp camera, but then again if I want to take pictures I should just use a camera!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The ear piece seems to have a short in it so I can't hear anyone when I make a call. Other than that (and the fact that it feels like I'm carrying a brick in my pocket), the phone is great!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This phone has a large screen, the battery life is the best i've ever seen. I enjoy not having to charge my battery for 3-4 days. Reception was next to perfect even when i took the antenna off i still had signal.

Pro's
Great Overall phone
Great Battery Life
Size
Built like Chevrolet truck I've dropped this phone at least 40 times
Large keypad
EV-DO Data
40Mb Total memory
Use speaker phone while Flip is closed

Con's

Small Directional Pad
Uses Moto's Standard Charging Port which sometimes Requires you to fiddle with for a few minutes
Pops off the Holster to Easily
Holster damages the paint on the phone after a few months use
Setting pictures as a background from phones camera show up Blurry

Overall I still wish Motorola Made this phone or an Improved Model. As the V710 was replaced with the Moto E815

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
