jsee submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is really cool. I bought it in Fl back in March 11, 2007. Its been doing great. Its fast and affordable. The voice quality could be a little better. And the battery life is awesome. But the charging port is already starting to mess up. It also heats up when using alot or put on the charger.

Pros: Almost everything

Cons: charging port

speaker

heats up really hot

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

asdf1313 submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I had purchased my first version of this phone about three years ago. For about one year and four months, it worked just fine with the exception of weak signal strength which I suspect is Sprint's downfall. And then the screen decided to turn blue on me so I got it replaced with the same model.

About three months later, it starting shutting off/restarting on me every time I plugged it in to charge. Whenever it DID charge, it would do so rapidly only to have half of the battery drain when talking on the phone for only about twenty minutes. So, I took it in again and they simply replaced the battery. Same problem. They replaced the phone again and things seemed to be going well... for only a month. I'm having the same problem, again. And before you suspect it is the wall outlet or charger, I used different wall outlets and different chargers when trying to figure out the problem.

That was pretty much my only problem (with the exception of terrible signal), but in my opinion, a HUGE problem.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

RSmaker23 submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Overall I give this phone a 2.5 rating because of the many cons I have with it. It seems Sprint didn't do its best with this model, or maybe it's just my phone...

I had just gotten this phone a not too long ago and its already messing up.

You see..it seems after I charge the phone the screen somehow during the process turns blue...then it stays that way. Now maybe it's just the phone I bought, but as I've read many others had recieved problems with this model.

Somehow I had just gotten the screen to work again by taking out the battery for a long time (2 days) before replacing it.

Now after I had charged it again, the screen has turned blue...and stays that way. I'm thinking about returning it because I don't want to go through the hassle every time I charge the phone.

Despite this, the phone does have its pros..

The sleek design is what had drew me in the first place. I also fell in love with the menu, wallpaper styles etc...

But yes, I must agree this phone does has the a cheap feel, and even though this is the first time I have used a LG phone I feel that this could've been better.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Sweetie submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

Well i got this phone 4 or 5 months ago and it is very well used. I talk on the phone maybe on average 5 hours a day. I wish the battery would last longer but thats life.

Pros:
the speaker phone and my ring tones are very crisp and clear, the main display screen is very bright and shows alot of color. and on top of it the lime green color is awesome! The reception on the phone is excellent I'm driving in the middle of no where and the bars are a little bit lower..but its still okay to talk with.

Cons:
My phone turns on on me randomly, and my voice dial is hell to try to figure out. and it scratches easily the silver edge around the exterior display chips and cracks...and every time i drop my phone it sratches and and when i open my phone it sqeaks like its plastic. another thing is and i am strongly with this...is that all LG phones suck..the display screen cracks all my friends who own a LG phone that has happened to them and it has happened to my previous LG phone and thats why never want one again.

but overall it has its pros and cons
it is an alright phone for basic use...
it is not a phone you can have a 3 year contract on and stay with the LG 125
the whole 3 years would be a miracle because
you would have to keep it in a soft pillow the whole time and even then i bet something would go wrong.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

During that time had multiple issues. Including phone discharging while plugged in, display giving out memory resetting itself, etc. Had phone replaced once only to have problems reappear within a short time. Just a bad phone in my opinion.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kayelle submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Software Version: CX12TE10
Memory used: 3.7%

I didn't want a camera phone, nothing fancy, and this phone is Green.... I really like coloured phones, they stand out. Well, I've had it for 6 months, and it's basically a piece of garbage. It worked well (no glitches) for about a month.... and then... it all fell apart.

There are basically no pros to this phone except that it makes and receives calls like any phone should.. mostly.

Cons:
Some of the problems this phone has include intermittent freezing doing simple things like texting, and total lack of Voice Dial control. However, my main beef with this phone is that randomly, the exterior backlight will stay on for hours on end, no matter what I do. The only thing I can do is restart the phone. This is a massive hassle, because if it's in my purse and I don't notice, I'll go to use my phone and it's dead, after having been charged the night before. So, my battery lasts 1.5 days MAX. I only know one other person with this phone, and she has the exact same problem. Coincidence? I thought, maybe.

I had it sent in for repairs, and had a loaner LG phone with no exterior display. My battery was put in this phone, and lasted 5 days at a time. I charged my loaner phone one night and got my real phone back the next day.... surprise, the battery died that night. Better yet, the phone is in worse condition than before I sent it in. Not only does the exterior light stay on constantly at random times (yes, it's set for 8 seconds), but I have a new, very odd problem:

When I let my phone battery die all the way (obviously, this happens very often), it shuts off like all phones do. Then maybe a minute later it restarts all by itself, and tells me I have multiple new text msgs or web alerts. I really don't have any. (Sometimes it picks old ones and pretends they're new.) Then it shuts off again. This happens every time, without fail.

Basically... I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone. No one at all. Junk.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

whiskey7 submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I am one of the peope who specifically doesn't want a camera, mp3 player, ect on my cell phone. I do however like a nice look and feel to my phone as well as good fundamental function (reception, battery life, etc). This phone is perfect for someone like me.

Pros:
+ Great sound/call quality as well as good range of volumes in the earpiece (this is a relief coming from the screetchy Samsung a620)
+ Above average batter life
+ Nice feel/form - very small; internal antenna is great
+ Perfectly good reception (I tested it against a Samsung a620 and Hitachi p300 in a dead area and it lost reception at the same point as these)
+ Non-color external display is easy read in the light of day without being lit up.
+ Cool keypad; keypad's blue backlight is very nice too.
+ Speakerphone works good
+ Vision works well
+ Has over-the-air software update ability. I have used it once and it worked flawlessly.

Cons:
+ Not compatible with some games including Jamdat Bowling and Peg Jump
+ Can't adjust the volume of an event alarm independently -- the event alarm volume will be the same as your current ring volume.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mcotnam submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I bought this phone in August mainly for the look of it. After having it for two weeks, it stopped working correctly. When I received a call, it would ring, but upon answering it, I couldn't hear a thing, and neither could the caller. The same thing when I placed the call. I wouldn't hear anything and the person who answered wouldn't either.

I brought it back to Telus and the customer service agent removed the battery and turned it back on. It worked - for about 1 week. Then I brought it back in, again they removed the battery and sent me on my way. Then the third time I brought it in, they told me that since I had had the phone for over one month, they wouldn't give me a new one and they sent it away for repairs.

I got it back three weeks later and it worked for a total of two days. I brought it back in and they sent it away again - I picked it up 3 days ago, and yesterday the problem recurred. Now, it's back with LG for a third try. I'm extremely frustrated and Telus isn't helping at all - actually blaming me for not forcing the issue within the one month window!!!

Has anyone heard of something like this happening? They have updated the software on my phone and have changed the speaker...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There is a little taste of advanced phone features within the phone, but they are just that, tastes...but don't have practical, every day functionality. It is true that the backlights stay on all the time while on the charger, but overall I'd say this is a very solid phone. 4.5/5 due to minor cons.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Voice Dial doesn't work on these LGs.

Try "HOME". I could never get the phone to call "HOME" Voice dial only called 50% of names entered.

Besides voice dial, phone features and size are very good.

The other issue, is Sprint's weak signal strength.

I switched to Verizon Motorola V276. Its voice dial REALLY WORKS GREAT!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

idreamoutloud submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I got my LG 125 on the Telus mobility network up in Canada. I got it simply because it was the first CDMA flip with an internal antenna offered here.Iits an attractive little phone that looks alot better than it performs. The phone is filled with little software glitches that a low end user may never notice. most frusterating of all is the contact list. If you store your contacts numbers using the prefered 10 digit method ie. (403)123-4567 the call display will not work on incoming phone calls, but it will work for incoming text messages. If you use the less prefered 7 digit number only then your call display will work, but not for text messages.... why would LG / Telus do this?

PROS:
-Size, its not too big, and not too small

-Internal antenna is great, works well and you don't have to worry about breaking it off

-Handy little speaker phone, although the speaker really isn't that clear.

CONS:
-The speed dial is anything but speedy, you have to hold the button down for 3-4 seconds before it realizes that you are speed dialing.

-The color screen is lame, they claim it is a 65,000 color screen... but to me its just 65,000 shades of green, and grey.

-The phone feels very cheap and plasticy in the hand.

-Very weak flip on this phone, I suspect LG will have alot of upset customers with broker phones on their hands.

i used this phone for about a week, then switched back to my Samsung A670, which is far superior!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

wendyk submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I am a cell phone junkie and I love all of the LG products that I have had. I have had Samsung, Sanyo, Audiovox, Toshiba but love this one the best. I don't use the camera so that is no biggy. Nor do I download a bunch of stuff so again no biggy. I get great reception even in the new areas of Las
Vegas. Dropped calls are about 2% which is better than the other phones I have had. I like that it has and internal antenna and it fits in my pocket. My biggest love is that I can hear it ring even if it is in my pocket purse or another part of the house. That has been an issue with the Sanyo phones for me. When I have it on the vibration mode for when I am in a meeting it can be felt whereas my other phones the vibration mode was useless. So I give this phone all 5 stars.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

erw submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros:
Packed with internal features
Handy, easy to read 2nd display on front
Attractively Priced

Cons:
Questionable Signal Strength
Navigation through menus a bit clumsy

Bought this phone a few days ago for my wife.
We have some concern about the signal strength. We use Sprint and are in an area in Southern California where the signal strength has never been that great.
My wife had an LG 1011 prior to this one, and her phone would consistently show 1 bar where my Samsung I300 shows full strength. It may be that the bars on the LG do not indicate the same signal levels as the Samsung. She would get dropouts about 8% of the time, where I get dropouts only about 2% of the time.
The VI125 is clearly getting better reception than the 1011 but it is still much lower than my Samsung. She has already had some dropouts, but it is still too early to to say how bad the problem is.

The features on the phone particularly the nice 2nd display on the cover, and the relative pricing (we bought it directly from Sprint) encouraged us to try this phone despite the reception problems with her old LG.

The other person who said that the speakerphone had some distortion at higher volumes is correct. It is noticeable, but not too objectionable.

Navigation through the menus is reasonably intuitive, but there are a few inconsistencies: The "back" button does not always get you to the previous window;
accessing additional characters used for web navigation is intuitive, but requires an excessive number of keypresses.

Loading pictures and sounds went smoothly, but the one Java (jar) file we tried to load didn't work. (The file may have just been incompatible with this phone.)

My wife will still return the phone if dropouts persist, but judging from how delighted she is with the other features,
(she particularly likes the combination of speakerphone/auto answer so she doesn't have to touch the phone to receive a call in the car) I think that it is a keeper.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

captainvid submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I recently purchased one of these phones. There are many things I love about this phone. The display is nice, no antenna but great reception, the duplex speaker-phone, and the alarms. Most of the other features are good but there are a few deal breakers. Here is the major one. After having it a few days and using it to make calls and receive them, I go to the call history and both incoming, missed, and outgoing calls are missing. The phone just says call history is empty. If I just made a call, then hit talk to redial the last number I still get call history empty. OK so its a bad phone yes? Went back to BB to exchange it. Guess what ...the new one did the same even after registering it. I checked the display unit and it did it too. OK so maybe BB has a batch of bad ones. Went to RS to check, same problem. Tried 2 more RS stores and they all do it. Am I the only one out there with this issue. Obviously I want this phone bad but this basic function MUST work. The other problems I see with this phone is the backlight on during charing, font size is way to small for initial dialing readout, and backlight doesnt stay on long enough. Other than this phone is fantastic. But until LG can download new software to fix these issues I will just keep looking or wait till the VI225 comes out. Hope they fixed these issues on that one too.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

KC-Steve submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

PROs: Small size without the antenna stub to get caught in your pocket. Nice display. No camera or push-to-talk.. features I don't use.

CON's: The main screen backlight goes out after lack of activity too soon. Max delay is 15 seconds or on all the time. Even goes out when playing games so would like more delay time.

I'd been wanting to replace by SCP4700 as too large. Didn't want camera, walkie-talkie features. The 125 seemed to fit my needs. Picked it up on a business trip in Sacramento and like it very much. Signal levels seem to be quite good and audio quality much better than the 4700 - similar to my wife's 8100. I do use the speakerphone and this one is excellent.

So far this phone meets my needs... small, good reception and not tricked up with features I don't use. Sprint.. I know selling Vision is important to the company. However, I would like a camera in it IF I could download into my computer for that "once in a month" photo I might take.. otherwise, my cheap digital I carry in my briefcase works very well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

heunt submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

A really nice phone. Quite a few PROs,
but the first two CONs were deal breaker
for me. The rest, I could have lived with.

PROs:
Great reception(Central Missouri).
Never dropped a call except in known
dead spots.

Nice size. I was able to perform one
handed dialing fairly well.

Speakerphone worked well. A little
distortion above the medium volume
level.

Internal antenna. Despite LG's warning,
hand position doesn't interfere with
the signal.

Nice menus.

Good battery life.

Nice tools, especially the scheduler.
There's even a tip calculator. I doubt
if I would have gotten much use out of
it, but it's pretty cool.

A couple of decent games.

CONs:
When the phone is connected to the
charger, the backlight stays on
continuously. I was weary about
leaving the phone connected to the
charger overnight. I was told that
this is common on LG phones.

If a number that's stored in the
phonebook is dialed manually from the
keypad, the phone doesn't translate the
number to the name associate with the
phonebook entry for that number. Picky
perhaps, but I know I'd never be
satisfied with this.

Should be able to adjust the ringer
volume without opening the flip.

After changing the volume level, you
either have to press OK, or wait a
second or two before closing the flip.
If not, the old volume setting will
still be in effect. I found this out
the hard way, in a movie theater.

Crappy musical ringtones. Downloaded
ringtones sounded terrible.

Headset performance was questionable. I
only used it once.

If none of the CONs that I listed scare you,
then I'd highly recommend this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

boston submitted this review of the LG VI-125:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I have had it for less that a week - so this is not a completely educated review. But, so far my reception is fine - slightly less signal strength than my Sanyo SCP6400 (which I had NO complaints about, other than being bored with). All features are very easy to use, speaker phone sounds fine, scratchy on highest volume, but fine on lower volumes. I'm constantly checking the signal strength because I am suspicious about having an 'internal antenna', but so far no problems. Ringers are great, many normal 'ring' and 'alert' sounds as well as songs, I've only charged it once so far too, so I'm going on 3 days with only one bar diminished on the power meter. No annoying sounds or lights that aren't able to be turned off if you don't want them. I'll write again when I get closer to the 14 day return limit to say if I decided to keep it or not. Basically, my main need is reception - this is my only phone, so if it passes in that area, I'm golden. I've got no complaints about any of it's other features.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
