Had to trade it in due to some of the buttons stopped working correctly. (none of the important ones)

pros:

awesome reception

long battery life between chargings (this phone lived in my pocket and the side buttons were constantly being pushed-got a few pictures of the inside of my pocket)

easy to use

I loved the flash for the camera-neat little flashlight!

had all the features I use frequently

cons:

didn't take an SD card.

couldn't send out videos

picture quality was a little poor after awhile-didn't take many pictures towards the end of using this phone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Battery stays charged a long time..

The speakerphone is horrible, and there is a malfunction in the charge port, some were recalled for it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

xjennabennax416 submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I am a huge fan of LG phones. They are definetly one of the easiest to use. Great for a first cellphone. This phone has a VGA camera with flash and zoom. It also has video capture. Not as high-tech as the razr/krzr camera/video, but it does the job. It does have voice-activated dialing, so pretty much you can talk to your phone and tell it what to do. One downside to this model is the fact that you can only turn on speakerphone once you are in call. I do recommend this phone to anyone who is not looking for top notch for everything, but wants the most out of their phone. Ive had this phone for about a year now.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

KTCfun1 submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have owned this phone for about 7 months, and there are many nice features, but a few cons that have become inconveniences.

Pros:
*Decent reception
*Good sound quality (earpiece)
*Good default ring tones, wallpapers
*Decent battery life (I usually recharge every 3-4 days)
*Sturdy - I have dropped it a few times, and it keeps on chugging. Even fell onto cement once.
*Size and style are good.
*Tri-Mode - I live in the boonies, so analog is required most days.

Cons:
*Speakerphone is too quiet, esp. in cars
*Took me 3 months to figure out Silent Mode!
*PC compatibility is very limited - esp. on my Mac. Bitpim will not recognize most of the time.
*I think the antenna on my VX4400 previous was better.
*Poor camera quality - I use this very infrequently, and didn't even want this feature when purchasing a new phone.

Overall - this is a good, basic phone that is reliable. No bells and whistles, but has what most people need (sorry, I don't need games on my phone, I have an iPod and a laptop). I will definitely stick to LG phones in the future, based on this and my previous LG - quality and signal are most important to me.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The features were helpful, but the sound quality was very poor. The voices sounded muffled. I traded for a Motorola V710 and am very happy.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

yusleepin submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for about 2 months now and absolutely love it. I had had a LG5550 prior to this and had to get a new phone because the ear piece speaker had died on me. I had already had the phone replaced once and was not willing to just get it replaced again. The thing I liked most about the 5550 had been the volume level of both the ear piece speaker and the ringer. I am hearing impaired and therefore had to find a phone that would be loud enough for me to hear over background noise such as road noise, my kids talking, etc. Since the 5550 was loud enough for my husband to hear halfway across the room with my ear pressed to it (LOL), and I hadn't been able to find another phone that was loud enough, I figured that another LG was what I needed. They seemed to have worked out the ear piece speaker kinks out before making this model, as I have not had any problems with this phone cutting out on me, or dying as the previous one had.

Pros:
1. Loud ear piece speaker and ringer
2. Slim, sleek, and easy to hold design
3. Easy to use LG interface
4. Sturdily Built
5. Very easy to use calculator
6. Easy to Text message someone
7. Separate easy to read front time display
8. Easy to use camera and camcorder
9. EASY, EASY, EASY

Cons:
1. US Cellular does not have this in Red :(
2. Short timespan on camcorder, 15 seconds even though you can save up to 60 videos.
3. Speaker phone volume is not very loud.

Overall, I LOVE THIS PHONE!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

amandayhart submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I work for a cell phone company and we get free demos. That means I have tried quite a few phones out at no expense to my pocketbook. Out of all the phones that I've demo'd (motorola, LG, Kyocera) By far this one is the best.
1)Battery life is VERY good, even when I'm browsing the web or playing a web game.
2)The camera and video colors are GREAT.
3)The ringtones are fantastic, and when I download one, the quality is unbeatable.
4)Mine is Blue, unlike the Alltel Red, but looks great, and is so light weight.
5)It's sturdy, and has withstood soo many drops with barely there scratches.
6)Love the answer options and driving mode.
7)Love that you can take the car kit off.

Cons:
1)Wish the Videos were longer than 15 sec. I know you can do 15 of them, but how about fewer Videos, and more time on each??
2)Like another admirer on this site..I wish that in the announcements it would let you record your own voice saying the name.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

monkeylantern submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

After owning this phone for nearly 3 months i can honestly say that i am bored. There is really nothing to do with it. The camera is really not a toy and has only come in handy when amongst my friends.

Pros:

Loud
Nice color display
easy to follow menus
external display for viewing without opening

Cons:

Monochrome on external (some color would be nice)
nothing fun to do (no games and who wants to pay over 5 dollars for a game)

As for the signal it is great in this tiny dump of a town. Alltel works great here in southern michigan. No other major company can get signal and they roam so it is nice to have a big carrier and lots of signal strength. I get 5 bars everywhere i go.

really a nice phone but i have to have something to do on it. when i am costantly on the go i have no time to sit and play a gameboy. Standing in lines is where i find that i need this the most.

you have been forewarned

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Bigbooty submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

All the pluses others have stated and GREAT ear piece volume. This is critical to me and the LG 5000 is one of Alltels loudest phones. The only one to beat it is the LG 4270. But not by much. Good loud tones, earpiece, spkr.

Love it!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GB submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

First and foremost a phone has to be a good phone. All the other bells and whistles are just extras that are nice to have. This phone has plenty of the extras but falls short of just being a plain and simple good phone. Previous to this phone I always bought Nokia and they were all excellent phones. The last one was a basic candy bar phone (3585i) with mono display. It wasn't pretty and it didn't do all the extras that the AX5000 does, but it was a better phone. My main gripe with the AX5000 with it's audio. First, the ear piece audio is so low that even with it turned on high it is hard to hear unless I'm in absolute silence. If there is any noise around I have to put the phone in speaker mode and hold it up to my ear to hear it. As you might guess, the speaker phone is usable only in a quiet environment. Secondly, the microphone is not very sensitive. I often have people tell me that they can barely hear me. This even when the phone is in speaker mode and me talking directly into the microphone. On the good side, most folks say the audio quality is very good even if it is low. Because both transmit and receive audio is a basic function of any phone, I give this phone a low rating even though it does have some cool features I enjoy having.

PROS:
Attractive Red Phone
Excellent Inside Color Display
Good Outside Display
Solidly Built
Good Menu Systems
Built-In Camera
Good Ringers
Cool Wallpapers
Excellent Reception
Good Battery Life
Voice Commands
Built-In Web Browser
Games/Utilities
Good Contact Book

CONS:
Low Ear-Piece Audio
Poor Microphone Performance
No Direct Download in Browser
Web is Painfully Slow

If it weren't for the low audio this would be a perfect phone. Everything on it except for the audio is very nice. By the way, I contacted LG about the audio problem and received an email from them acknowledging my complaint but never heard from them again. So LG gets a hit for poor customer service as well.

GB

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Mark11 submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This is the perfect phone for me. I just love it.

Pros:
1. Reception is very good
2. Exterior display is of the old design (not sure what it is called) You can see it better in most lighting than on a fancy color display.
3. Internal display Rocks
4. Love the Red
5. Alltel has it and I love alltel
6. LG user interface is the best out there (in my humble opinion)
6. Driving mode is sweet
7. I like that it will read the name in the phone book and you can set the phone to announce the names as the ringer
8. Speaker phone is very good
9. The ringer in the phone are more the best I have seen on a phone
10. I like the internal pictures
11. Camera is good for a cell phone
12. Ringers are loud

Cons:

1. I would like the ability to leave it in drive mode with the phone closed and no headset attached and still be asked if I would like to answer the call (it will ask if the flip is open)

2. I would like to change the color of the smiley who winks at me when I change a setting... lol...I know but I would

3. One free game wouldn't be too much to ask...would it?

4. Would have been extra sweet to be able to assign voice tags to each name and hear that instead of the computerized voice's guess at what the name sound like.

I gave this phone a 5 because, at least for me, it has all the features that I want and none that I don't. I don't think it is perfect, but I do think it is just about as close as you can get with the current technology.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sillyness submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

The LG5000 makes up for some of their prior models that that have had problems (5550, 6100). I would rate this an excellent phone overall. Like every current LG I have used, it has the best menu system on the market. It is so intuitive that it makes operating it a pleasure and not a challenge. It also has nice loud ringers as well. One thing I don't care for is that in order to use the speaker phone, you have to be on a call. The outside LCD display is nice and large so you can get a quick glance to get the current time or caller ID. The camera is good, although VGA cameras don't seem to be as clear as the older CMOS cameras. The 5000 gets excellent reception as well. The 5550 and 6100 seemed to have reception problems, but this phone works very well. Finally, the small size makes it a big plus. You can carry it in your pocket just fine. This is one of LG's best phones to date and brings LG back to their good old days when the LG 4400 and 6000 were quality phones to buy. The 5000 is no exception.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

diakonos submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is hot (red hot)!

The only feature this phone doesn't have that would make it the perfect phone is bluetooth capability. Other than that, this phone is phenomenal.

Pros:
- very good reception/strong signal (in Alltel network
- great battery life.
- great speaker phone.
- sturdy build (the phone doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart in my hand every time I press a button or open the flip).
- camera takes great pictures/video clips.
- voice command features for the phone are terrific (especially when in driving mode). If you receive a phone call in this mode, the phone tells you the name of the person calling you and will ask you if you want to answer the call or not).

Cons:
- no bluetooth (Oh well, I guess you can't have everything).

This phone definitely gives you the best bang for your buck.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GravityFails submitted this review of the LG AX-5000 / UX-5000:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I should probably be slapped for including a Warrant reference in the title, but I'll take my chances.

The AX5000 is everything I'm looking for in a phone. It's got crystal-clear voice quality (even out in the sticks), good battery life (even out in the sticks), and a VGA camera. The speakerphone is also a bonus, but it wasn't paramount in my search for a new handset. And boy did I search.

The AX5000 does not have an MP3 player. I don't care. The AX5000 does not have Bluetooth, but if my week-long disappointing experience with the Razr's Bluetooth capabilities is indicative of Bluetooth's overall quality, I don't care about that either. The AX5000 has a stubby little antenna that pokes me in the Niagaras every time I slip the phone into my pocket; okay, I care about that a little, but not enough to lower my rating of this spiffy little device. So I use a belt clip, big deal, and the boys are happy.

In other words, it's not a Razr, but that's okay. I had a Razr. I traded it in for the LG and haven't regretted it for a minute. After test driving both the V710 and the V3C with Alltel, I found myself constantly bemoaning the lack of one feature or another on each of those higher-priced gadgets, and once I saw the AX5000 in action, I knew I'd made the wrong (and needlessly expensive) decision.

Low battery life on the Razr, plus a dim external screen and no way to shut off the painfully annoying battery warning (more of an issue than you'd think) made me reconsider my purchase of Motorola's flashy flagship. The AX5000 does everything that I want it to do, including silencing the battery warning, and it does so in a sleek, touchable package with none of the V710's creaks and groans. (Closing the V710 was like lowering the gate at Warwick, for cryin' out loud.)

I don't need to be the king of the world; for those of you who do, stick with the Razr or the A900. For those who simply want a great phone at a great price, give LG a try.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
