ShadowScorpion submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

First SureType Berry. I admit I had apprehensions... which were all proven wrong when I started writing my first emails. The input prediction is actually VERY good, and with the option to add your own custom entries in the dictionary, writing emails and texts is a breeze.

RF on this Berry is kickass. It holds a damn good signal and that's all there is to say.

On the battery front, with the minimal backlighting options, my experience with battery life was about 8-9 days. It dropped to 6-7 days after setting push email, but that's still pretty damn good, seeing as I am returning from iDEN, which has ridiculous battery life.

On the sound quality side, this is another point where the 7100 shines. Incoming audio is great, incoming audio on the speakerphone is great, and callers told me I don't sound like I'm on a cellphone. The volume is also pretty damn good, too. It could have been a little louder, but hell, when incoming audio is that good, that's something I'll gladly overlook.

I also liked the fact you can program the convenience key to anything you want. I found this to be a very quick and easy way to lock the keypad.

Bottom line, the 7100 is a fine phone that performs extremely well in what you would expect it to be -- phone, email, and RIM's great PDA options. It's also MUCH smaller than regular QWERTY Berries like the 7290, so it's also comfortable in the hand. Having used the said 7290 myself, I can say the 7100 feels like a phone and not a CrackBerry.

Two thumbs up to RIM for this SUPERB Berry!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I own the 7105 model and I don't understand what all the fuss is about! I don't have a problem with reception. I've never had a dropped call. Heres a run down of the phone!

Pros:
*this is a big one for me, you can text with one hand!
*great size
*easy to learn keypad
*smaller and thinner than other blackberry's

Cons:
*internet could be a tad faster
*screen could be a little brighter in the sun

other than that, this phone is great!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

thinkr04_7 submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

Ok, I have had this phone for about 39 days, and at the start it was VERY nice and worked well, and thought that I would have no problems. WRONG! For 3 weeks it was good no apparent problems or anything, but starting last week my phone has been turning itself off, ( yes you read it right!) and when I go to turn it back on it will NOT turn on at all! I have to take out the battery wait 5 minutes then put it back in, THEN the phone will start, but even then it takes another 10 minutes for all the programs to load before I can do anything! So, I contacted Tmobile and they were very nice and they are replacing this one with a Pearl. I am happy about this, but wished that I didn't have these problems to start with!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Amex submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

We are reviewing the phone not the service, so in doing so your review is a little unjust. If you were in my part of the country you would rave how great it was, if the service and phone was as bad as you state I'am sure your company would have switched by now. Plan prices mean nothing to a company if they can't use their phones because of poor service, and if they choose poor service and price over good service and a few pennies extra they are very counter productive. So there's a couple of things you can do: have the phone checked out, check other T-mobile customers service in your area. If others are having problems then maybe you need to consult T-mobile and/or seek another carrier..or as you stated earlier return to pen & paper and use Pony Express.

My 7105t works great, and because it does I'm happy and will continue to use it. I just find it unfair to judge a product in an area that may have bad service, that is not a flaw of the product but the carrier.

Pros: 90% Functional
Cons: 10% Minor

Still a great product, execellent value.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Hill submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I would like to tell anyone who wants to get a phone to go for the blackberry 7105t.

amcdermott24 submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

When I first got my blackberry 7100 I loved it and probably should have received some cash from RIM and T-Mobile for all the business I sent their way. Now I wish I would have never gotten the phone. As far as features, look, ease of use are concerned the phone is great. However don't let that bar far at or below two bars. Once that happens poof goes your call. I know that part of it is the area I am located. But I'm not in the sticks I am 45 minutes outside Chicago for heavens sake! The ONLY reason I am not getting rid of the phone is because our company uses the enterprise server and I told this is the only phone that it works with. T-Mobile although they have great plans and pricing cannot match the service I had with Verizon. As far as the Blackberry goes I have never had any other PDA phone but if this is all I have to look forward to maybe I'll just go back to a pen and paper!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

With the volume turned down people can hear me fine but I have trouble hearing them.

does work great with bluetooth earpiece or other earpieces.

blackberry works well, two letters per key text is difficult to get used to, but with practice works well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

adv4500 submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for eight months now, and is currently sitting in a desk drawer turned OFF. I had to get my old Nokia 6600 back online. Reason? I live in an area with poor reception (according to T-mobile 2-3 bars), and the other parties could hardly understand what I was saying. It never dropped a call, but the voice quality was horribly degraded by the week signal. My Nokia on the other hand does drop calls due to the week signal, but the voice quality on the other end is still almost perfect to the end.

Pros:
Being able to turn off the wireless feature.
USB for data transfer and charging
Lotus Notes Email
International Capabilities

Cons:
Poor RF and voice quality.
Screen is still hard to see outdoors
Can't attach device as another drive on the PC
No Memory card
Battery life

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I only have one complaint and that is the part that this phone does not play Real Music Tones, but then again I never did stress it because I understood this phone is more of a business phone than for phone. But in conclusion the phone is great for internet access, instant messaging, calendar, and much more.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

avattathil submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Syncing VIA Bluetooth on Blackberry 7100g

I have read many articles on phonescoop. Many of you are having issues syncing the 7100g via Bluetooth on Windoose. The spec even says for headset only. I have successfully synced up via Bluetooth. on Outlook and Lotus Notes. The capabilities are there, you just have to unlock them.

Here is what you need.
Latest Desktop Software BlackBerry OS v4.1
Here is the link https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Operating System Upgrade
BlackBerry OS v4.1.0.210 CSL (Multilanguage) Contains English (Hong Kong release)

Here is the link https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareDownload/index.jsp?client=cB5RB4aRB

Windows XP SP2
and a Bluetooth device that compatible. What does compatible mean? It mean you should be able to plug in the Bluetooth device and have windows support via the generic MS drives. I used a D-Link USB Bluetooth (kinda pricey, $35). But works great. Creative CB2436 Works as well. I did not test with Creative I just know it does not need drivers on XP SP2.

Note Third party drivers do not work.(Have to use Microsoft drivers as far as I know)

After device is installed the Bluetooth logo should be in the taskbar or desktop.
Set it to discover. Then discover it via the 7100g and pair. (Optionally you and trust the device with the device.)

Install the desktop software
Go to BlackBerry Device Manager Right Click properties and click Enable Bluetooth support. Then click configure Bluetooth and
Add device. WALA you're good to go.

To sync go to launch the Desktop client and go to connection settings and select Bluetooth.

Then launch Intellisync or (Companion for Lotus Notes) and configure your PIM and off you go.

Wireless Consultant submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

The unit works better as a phone than the 7290 that I had. The web browsing is a little better. Typing a email is easier on the 7290.

The speaker phone could be a little louder.

This model is better for one hand users.

This model does not use icons in the navigation. I miss that feature.

Pros
smaller
speaker phone
better browsing

cons
I hate predictive text. It slows me down.
I rather the 7290 because of the key board.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I was upgrading from the 7290 because I wanted more of a phone form factor.

This is a very light phone, good feel and good battery life.

Cons:

The software is slower than 7290.
The reception is really bad, the arial is located in the base of the phone, so if you cup it in your hand (which you do to use the dial) it looses 1-2 bars of signal strength ... not a problem unless you are around a low signal area - which happens!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sunilsonia submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

OK may be not that many but I've got to say, this RIM Blackberry 7105T phone is a FAR and AWAY IMPROVEMENT over my previous T-Mobile Cellphone, a Siemens CF-62T. But then again, DCS (Dixie Cups and a String could also have beaten that phone too :-) .)

Pros:

-The Deal I got for purchasing this phone ($70 after all rebates), plus a free Bluetooth from http://www.blackberry.com when purchased prior to 11/30/2005 (those who didn't get their headset, I highly suggest you do this through this offer);

-The Reception on the speaker is exceptional and loud too compared to any previous phone I've had.

-The sync for calendar, tasks, contacts, notes and memos can be seemless and automatic if set to do so via the software included in box.

- Setting up a POP3 e-mail account is simple! And best of all, I am getting my e-mails quite seemlessly on my work a/c. So much so, that my colleague who had the Blackberry (different model but with VZW) was asking what I did and who I contacted to setup? The answers were I contacted none one except for T-Mobile PDA Support Desk and just simply setup a POP3 a/c on this basis.

- IM when I am at the airport in the event I need to reach out to someone.

-Phone size is perfoect and is made of different material compared to the ugly plastic 7290.
Cons:

-When travelling, with previous phones, the time always updated automatically according the the local time zone but here it doesn't seem to be doing so, atleast not yet. If anyone knows how to do this, then please post the steps out in the forum for T-Mobile.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

gendur submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Having had the 7100 through Cingular (returned 2 weeks later) and recently purchasing the 7105 from TMobile, I can say the 7105 and TMobile service are great (Cingular and the 7100 were not). With the 7105 I am able to access my Yahoo account, receive/open/respond/delete emails without having to log in to Yahoo--all done from the same screen where my work messages arrive. When I write an email I can select which email address the sender will see (work or Yahoo)--I love this feature. When I respond to an email the recipient sees my address from the same service the message was sent to (either Yahoo or work). Web browsing is faster on the 7105/TMobile than it was with the 7100/Cingular. The service is cheaper and I only had to commit to a one year contract. Try the 7105, you won't remember how you lived without it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Calendel submitted this review of the BlackBerry 7100 / 7105:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I'm a Rogers dealer who uses the 7100r on a daily basis for work purposes. We need this little guy to be available and usable full-time. Previously I was using a BB 750 (older mobitex unit) then was upgraded to a 7280. Big step up with the easier to look at screen and much (MUCH) improved coverage area and stronger signal. Love gsm! Our particular area has incredible service throughout the areas we needed it, and seeing how alot of the reviews are for American users, i wont comment on the unit's actual signal strength and reliability. That is, after all, dependent on carrier, 850 MHz, and your coverage areas. Here are my pros and cons, which just happen to be the same as spoken of so far:

Pros:

Nice looking screen indoors for reading our email/pins, web browsing and graphics

Sure-type is great, it has one heck of a learning curve, but once you pick it up you won't have any issues typing as fast on this as a full keyboard model

It's nice to use a unit that feels like a phone. i didn't really like the calculator sized versions, too clunky and big.

The interface is straightforward, as it has been on all BB units. f you haven't used a BB before it's about as user friendly as a nokia. :)

Cons:

I think almost every post has mentioned the battery life on this guy. Even with light use we recharge the unit once every 3 to 4 days. Heavy users beware.

Ring tones are very quiet, tough to hear that business call coming in if you need to. The vibrate feature works quite well and if you can find an aftermarket case for it that is a bit thinner or open you will be able to hear or fell this a little better.

The omission of edge was a bad move for the web browsing side, not to mention opening large attachments or graphics of 40k+. E-mail use can easily be supported with gprs minus attachments. A minor annoyance.

If you haven't tried Blackberry Messenger, do. Free program that is basically RIM's version of msn.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It doesn't have an mp3 player or camera. I have a great digital camera and an mp3 player that I don't use that much so these options are not important to me. This phone has a great screen. Good sound quality. Great push email. Good internet browser. I also have a word processor and the NIV bible on it. It also works great as a pda. I seldom use my axim x30 anymore. Tmobile has also been great. So far, it's the perfect phone for me.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
