basketeer submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This is the best phone ever. I only use this phone for internet access, texting, picture taking, and talking. I have had the phone since 2003 and have never had to buy additional equipment. A full charge still lasts about 3 days. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS ONE!!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

aarnoe submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Got this phone after my Nokia 6102i got stolen as a quickie replacement. Overall summation: better than going 4 months without a phone until my free upgrade, but only barely.

Pros: Very small for my medium-wide hands.
Pretty nice ringer options
Speakerphone adequate
Pretty good reception (Cingular; NE Georgia)
Cons: Battery life w/ light-medium usage horrible (had to charge at end of day, 5:30, to get a full day out of it)
Takes forever to set/change the alarm; no separate alarm volume
Phone shuts off for no apparent reason periodically throughout the day.
Slider slides open in my pocket while working.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

deezaster submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I got this phone for my birthday from a friend and it's a huge improvement from my Nokia 6101. The memory is great, I can store a lot of pictures on the phone and not have to worry about memory. Texting is much easier and less of a hastle than the nokia. It's a zippy little phone and so easy to use. It doesn't have video like the Nokia, but I never used video that often anyway and I'm not into the whole "bluetooth" thing. The stats on the phone on this site are incorrect though. It states that Ringer IDs can only be made by group, which isn't true. You can attach Ringer IDs to individual people in your phone book, which is cool. The Nokia wouldn't let me do that, only by group. The quality of the ringers isn't the greatest, but it's not bad either. I'm not that picky. This is my first time having a slider and I'm very impressed with it. The resolution is awesome and the flash is fantastic. I also love the fact that I can have animated wallpapers.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Carlx submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

It's a really good looking phone. The slider works OK. Like all Samsung phones, the display is excellent.

The "flash" on the camera is just bright enough to get a closeup in a dark area when you would otherwise not get any picture at all.

It has an IR port so you can load ringers without a cable.

But there are some really annoying con's...

You can't select ringer tones for the alarm clock. You can only choose from a small handful of awful alarm sounds. This feature was available on older Samsung models and has been REMOVED.

Text message alerts are also limited to their own short list of preset sounds. This was lacking on previous models.

No option for a default text recipient (e105 had this). You have to enter the number or search the phonebook each time.

The sound quality is only barely acceptable. It has a plasticy sound like cheap headphones, though not quite as bad.

The camera resolution is "OK" for a phone (640x480), but when framing the shot the phone's display does not show the full frame. The display only shows about the middle 1/2 of the picture so you can't frame anything just right, it's always a guess. It would be nice to make sure you are making good use of the pixels you have.

There is no option to change your home page for the web browser. On other phones I have a news page set as the homepage, so I have one-touch access to news, not T-Mobile's ringer downloads.

None of the shortcut keys (direction keypad in standby) can be customized.

The ringer is quieter than previous models (comparing to e105, s105) and makes more crackles from loud ringers.

The size of the phone is not too special. It's shorter than most, but also thicker and heavier.

This is a cool basic phone, plus a basic camera and an IR port. If you can get it for free/cheap and aren't picky about, well, anything at all, it's a good deal. But don't pay $100-200 for something that is mostly an entry-level phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MissMelissa submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I received this phone last month, and I haven't had any problems with it. The camera is decent for a phone, the phone is small but not too small, I always receive notifications for voicemails, texts, etc. The ringtones included with the phone are a decent volume, and yes, the downloadable ones (At least via TMobile) probably aren't as good of quality soundwise. I think I read someone complaining about the ringers built in, but the phone does have a few regular sounding ringers with a slight twist, that aren't too corny or obnoxious (my current is bell 1). The slide option has not been squeaky or flimsy for me. The battery does decline faster than a less technological phone, but thats to be expected. The speakerphone is okay but you probably won't be able to hear the call that well if there is a lot of background noise going on. I have had good reception most of the time, and no dropped calls.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kristinhardy submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for approximately 3.5 months. I went for this model due to it being one of the few phones that we offer that has a flash for the camera. Before I purchased the phone I knew that the ringtone audio quality for downloaded ringers is AWFUL. The phone has a flimsy feel to it also, especially after using it for a while. I had hoped that the flash would make me forget about those few negative aspects. I was fine with the phone until about 3 nights ago... The battery (after only 3.5 months) completely died. It won't take a charge or anything. That upsets me that I paid 150.00 for the phone thru our employee site and now it is not functional, unless of course I buy a new battery. Ridiculous.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

fiklepengo submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Its great that it is small so I can easily carry it in my purse or pocket.

Perhaps, it is only my phone, but it is loose when you first start to slide and then stiff to lock it into place. I think it should be the other way around. However, when I do search for it in my purse to answer a call, the top part may slide a little and lets the call through. By the time I find it, the other person has been been waiting for 15 seconds.

I have great reception, but I cannot hear the other person that well. They tell me they have good reception too, so maybe my phones just a lemon.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Imanelle submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I like this phone. It is attractive, modern, lightweight, and has great reception and GSM technology. However, it lacks certain inofrmative details and intelligent options. will list the pros and cons.

Pros:
a good camera, with picture text messaging.

Speedy txt. messaging (on my previous phone messages did not go through immediately)

WiFi Downloads (although they don't get very loud)

A sophisticated look

Good battery life

Cons:

Call times on individual previous calls cannot be retained

The phone does not have a silent ringer. There is vibrate, of course, but when in class or at a job interview... vibrate is not really silent! That's a pisser. I have to turn the phone off in order to make sure it doesn't disrupt situations akin to the aforementioned.

Text messages cannot be sent to multiple people in one go.

The ringer is not very loud. While it is elegant to not disrupt the environment with blaring ringtones, it is nice to be able to hear the tunes you've paid for when there is a bit more noise than crickets.

I personally think the ring tones that the phone is equipped with are horrid! You will be spending the $2.99 to get some new tunes.

There is not voice recognition.

I do like the phone though. It just is a simple modern phone: camera, t9 text, good reception and GSM tech. I recommend it, though you will have to adapt to some missed considerations on behalf of Samsung.

~*~Imanelle

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The design looks cheap & flimsy. When you slid the front up to talk dial etc. the back slid that everyone sees is horrible. It looks like plain untreated black plastic that just came out of a factory and had absolutely nothing done with it to make it look half descent. The sound quality is bad, and the camera is so-so, it could be worse but it most definitely is not great. By all means there are worse phones out there, but as I said, my experience hasn’t been the greatest.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

T9 text method
* CAMERA is OK, VGA quality
* VIBRATOR is perfect! VERY loud when on vibrate mode.

CONS:

The ringers on this phone are low quality. You can't hear them that good and IF you download the HiFi ringers, the music comes out of the speaker muffled and mumbled.

The small design is somewhat hard sometimes when using the keypad such as typing/dialing numbers. But thats just my user opinion. I can text pretty fast at times too lol

OVERALL this phone is really good. I used it for about 4 months and then switched to the Motorola Razr (the black one) since I bought it unlocked. It was for Cingular.

I actually might go back to the Samsung Slider as the Razr's text entry is iTap method and not T9 entry. The samsung slider is so easy to text on. The Razr takes some work to it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I live in suburban New York and travel by taxi on a daily basis. I was using the phone in a taxi and as i exited the phone slipped out of my hand. The car ran it over and the phone still worked fine. It was a bit scratched bit it didn't crush or dismember. i sell mobile phones and this is possibly the most durable newer phone out there for this particular carrier.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dragonflygrrl submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for about a week, and I am really happy with it. For the record, I will say that I am a relatively small person (5'1") with pretty small hands, and this phone is the perfect size for me. That being said, my fiancee is a guy of average size, and he thinks my phone looks and feels like a toy. So depending on your size, the phone's size could be either a pro or a con. The camera is not bad. It is not a substitute for a "real" digital camera, but I do have some decent pictures I took with it. All in all, just having the camera at all is a pro. Also, the effects are really fun to play with, if not terribly practical. The sound quality on the ringers is not as good as some phones(con), but then again this phone isn't as expensive as some other phones either(pro), so I think it balances out. The phone's talk volume and clarity is great! Also, the thing is just darn cute! Basically, I really love my phone, and if you are "little-handed" like me and like a phone that looks a little different, this phone is great!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Camera stinks. Can't hear ringtones at all. Ringtones stink. If you are older than 10 years then the keypad is probably too small. Speakerphone stinks. Samsung really stinks when it comes to software support for creating ringtones, themes, games for their phones. WAYYYYY behind nokia and motorola.

The only good think about this phone is its looks and I can hear the conversation I'm having even in a loud bar.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

krappei submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I recently upgraded to this phone after using a Nokia 6610 for over a year. After having used the e635 for a few days, I have found the phone to be pretty good compared to past phones I've owned. I have always looked for phones that have great reception. Cameras, mp3s, bluetooth and all that fancy stuff never influenced me enough to buy a particular phone. Because Nokia's tend to have better reception than the competition, I tend to go that route. The e635 however has had very good reception (as good as the Nokia's I've used and much better than the Samsung s105). I have T-mobile by the way. The phone is small and is "cute". Battery life has been decent. I talk on the phone at least 5-6 hours a day, and that's just enough power before I recharge nightly. The phone boasts a camera w/ flash and the screen is crisp and colorful. The ringtones (megatones and hifi tones) are acceptable. They aren't as crisp and clear as other phones I've heard but that's not enough to deter me from the phone. The phone's contruction seems pretty durable, including the sliding. The earpiece that comes with the phone is barely average. The voice memo is pretty cool. You don't need to slide the phone to answer or make calls. There is no bluetooth. Overall though, I am very happy with the phone after a few days of use. If you want good reception, small size, and some fancy features (camera w/ flash, voice memo, ringtones composer) this a good phone. I would give it a 4.5 but I've only used it 3 days. I'll submit another review in a few months.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

LAMysteryGrl submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-E635 / SGH-E630:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

If you want a very cute, compact, basic phone, this fits the bill. But if you like a lot of bells and whistles, keep looking. (In fact, for some it might be "too small." Sort of "toy-like"). I prefer more personalization options than this offers.

PROS: Cool look, everyone who sees it comments on it's appearance. The sound quality of the callers is excellent: very loud and clear (far exceeds my previous phone , Motorola v300). I have a Jeep Wrangler (VERY LOUD) and I can hear on this phone when I'm driving (couldn't on my v300). Callers say they can hear me perfectly as well. You can operate the phone (answer, make calls, listen to voicemail, read texts) without sliding the phone open (although, obviously callers hear you better when it's open). Picture caller ID is cool. I also like that you can "reject" a call (stop the ringing immediately and send it straight to voicemail).

CONS: The ringtone options are awful, and the HiFi ringers sound scratchy and cheap (unlike they did on the v300). There is also no fast/easy/shortcut to adjust the ringer volume. You can turn it off completely by pressing one of the keys - but you can't just alter the volume. No ringer profiles (loud, soft, silent, vibrate, etc). When callers from your phonebook call, it identifies the name but not WHICH number they are calling from (ie: cell, home, office, etc - not even in the call log). I can't find a way to email from this phone (when addressing, you can only enter a phone number, not text - BIG CON). When the phone is idle, the screen is just a stark white background with black text (wallpaper only shows up when you unlock the phone or slide it open). My reception was better with my v300, but that is probably to be expected with an internal antenna. Overall, it just doesn't have enough personalization options for me. (If you email yourself a pic, which took 10 tries to come work, the pic is stored separately than other pics so you can't even use an emailed pic as a picture ID).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
