I absolutely loved this phone... it was easy to use, the camera was pretty good for the time (two years ago). It's definitely outdated now, but I found the phone to be extremely durable (until I threw it on a concrete floor, angry at my boyfriend). The outside display was cool, especially because you could set one of your own pictures as the wallpaper. <br /><br />Pros:<br />-Can use music tones, not just polyphonic<br />-Easy to use<br />-Durable<br />-Nice outer display<br />-Camera (it's a pro and a con... technology has gotten better since this phone's initial launch, yet it was pretty darn good for back in '04)<br />-Can use the camera even when the phone is closed... awesome for taking pictures of yourself!<br />-Good sized screen and keys (which light up!)<br /><br />Cons:<br />-A bit on the bulky side<br />-Can't set different ring tones to different numbers<br />-Ring tones tend to switch on their own<br />-Again, the camera... a bit fuzzy. For anyone interested in buying this phone you may want to keep looking. I have sold many of these phones and regret doing so now. The majority of the phones come back with the complaint, "It doesn't ring and I can't hear people talking on the other end." what is happening here is the negative wire to the speaker somehow disconnects itself from the phone, which disables it. I have been able to fix this for most customers by soldering the cable back to the phone. Most customers wont be that lucky, they will have their phone sent out for repair and after taking a couple months to get it back will only face the same problem again in the near future. Even when in standby mode and not used the battery only lasts 2 1/2 days. I charged the phone last night and today after not using the phone I have gone from 4 bars to 3, in 15 hours. The documentation on the Cingular, LG and even this web sites list the battery life as 9 plus days, I would settle for 5 to 7 days like the other phones I have had. The ringtones are hollowing sounding and the few choices it comes with sound bad. '05, and it's been decent so far. But, a few key disappointments are eating away and my tech-loving soul. Let's start with the bad, since that's what everyone is ultimately concerned with:<br /><br />[::CONS::]<br /><br />1. Ringtones. They suck. That's all there is to it. If you like midi-type music ringtones and don't mind paying for them, good for you. But if you want something normal sounding, good luck finding them because they aren't on the phone, or available at any ringtone seller. I had to MAKE my own, and it was a PITA.<br /><br />2. Battery life. Not so great. This is probably because of the super-bright dual TFT displays, and the fact that the battery is only 830 mAh.<br /><br />3. Speakerphone. Doesn't have this feature, which is a shame because the hardware is certainly capable. They just didn't write it into the software. I know this because the voice memos play back loud-speaker style through the earpiece.<br /><br />4. Build quality. After a few months or so the phone will "loosen" up and start making creaking noises. I wish I could give mine a bath in WD40, but that'd probably ruin it.<br /><br />5. Side buttons. The volume controls don't have any contour, but instead are flat against the phone, so you can't feel them while you're talking. Sucks when you need to change the volume without having to look.<br /><br />[::PROS::]<br /><br />1. Beautiful dual TFT color displays with selectable wallpapers for both.<br />2. Sleek form factor with chrome accents and an electric blue button backlight.<br />3. BIG buttons. Definite plus for anyone with big fingers.<br />4. Decent camera with extra features, including light selection, multishot, zoom, and self-portrait.<br />5. Changeable faceplates. (PhoneScoop omitted this feature)<br />6. Voice memo, calculator, unit converter.
