kbock submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

This phone is good for a couple days, but definitely not worth the purchase. I've had numerous customers return it for various reasons, mostly due to the fact that the connection to the battery is messed up. So in that case, it can't even make calls, so it fails to function with even the most basic demands.

PROS:
None.

CONS:
Everything about this phone is a con.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I could still use the phone if I needed to. I really liked it.

Pros:
Durable
Color screen
outside display
antenna thing

Cons:
lots now but back in the day it was great, I would have had no complaints back then

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

EarthGirl517 submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for about 18 months and will be upgrading soon. When I first got the phone I was very pleased with it. However, in the time that I've had it, the quality is much deteriorated. I can't use the speakerphone any longer (person on other end cannot hear me clearly)and the button that holds the back casing has broken.

Pros-
Phone was free with 2 year contract (US Cellular Wisconsin)
Changeable faceplate
Accessories easy to find including faceplates
Lightweight
Easy and quickly navigated menus

Cons-
Sound becomes distorted after a period
Cheaply constructed
Doesn't easily support downloadable ringtones or wallpaper (may have to do with my carrier)
Cheesy standard wallpaper, screensavers and ringtones

I will say that the battery life seems to be fair. Also I get very clear reception with this phone, but have not had another phone with US Cellular, so can't compare

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rldavis1613 submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros

Excellent reception in my area. US Cellular in Southern Wisconsin.

Works with Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) quite well.

The Datebook functions work and sync well with the MPT.

Durable, My mother-in-laws went through the washer, totally submerged, LCD saturated with water. three days later it was dry and everything works except the LCD backlight. fearing it would fail I was able to upload all the phone data with MPT. She received a new phone, the V323i, and it will not work with MPT. The data gleaned from it must now be manually entered. At least the V262 allowed me to get the data. It still functions though. It will be my emergency loaner now.

Cons.

Will not accept MP3's from MPT, despite the fact MPT indicates it should.

Small viewing screen.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

On this particular "last one" , double caller ID, & it sometimes makes siren noises. I took it to my local Alltel, it's simple... take the battery out, put it back in. Problem solved-until next time. the v262 is the fourth phone i've had in 12 years. It's not me......Anyone have a v60 for sale?

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pcfriedrich submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

The phone looks great, and is easy to operate. It just kinda sucks once you try to make calls. I don't know if it is the antenna, battery, or both. The battery will lose its charge in less than 8 hours and it doesn't get reception ANYWHERE. I've been unable to make calls when a cell phone tower is in plain view of my location. My brother is on the same network (Alltel) and he will have three reception bars and I get no service, literally. I've sat right next to him and he would call my phone as an experiment. No ring. just a missed call alert. Sometimes I'd receive text messages two days after they were sent.

I thought the phone was just a lemon, so replaced it. I immediately had the same problems.

pros:
small
looks nice
durable

cons:
doesn't work at all.

I recently replaced it with a Samsung Wafer. I'm happy with that phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Big Dave 88 submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I acquired this phone free as an "upgrade" from the Nokia 3587i. If anyone knows what the 3587i is, then you now it's not the best one around. The Nokia was a free phone given to me back when CellularOne was still around. I must say, it worked better than the V262. I gave the V262 to my grandmother when I upgraded to a Motorola W315. When I try to call her, I am trying for 20 minutes, and I might get her to answer, but only for about 30 seconds before the call drops on her side. We live in a small town in southeastern South Dakota, where there are at best 1 tower for every 60 square miles. The nearest tower is in Mitchell, 45 miles away.

I gave this phone a 1 only because it works 1/650000000th of a time.

PROS:

The hinge is sturdy.

It's a tough phone, (I ran it over with my Crown Vic the other day).

The Silver/Black button colors are nice.

Nice speaker phone.

CONS:

Very little service.

Horrible battery life and charger.

Alltel is evidently doesn't care about towers, because I have told them and told them that signal strength is at its worst, and so have my friends. I have been thinking about switching to Verizon.

There is a Verizon tower about 5 miles from town, and when the phone switches to the tower, you can make 2 calls on it, 911, and Altell.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I'm stuck with this phone until my contract is up. if you go with alltel, make sure you really like the phone and test it out as much as you can before your 14 day trial period is up.
Pros
good reception
nice screen
ringtones ok
good volume

cons
battery life is BAD.doesn't hold a charge, and the batteries don't last very long. i've replaced it twice in 7 months.
charging system is really flimsy.
flip isn't the sturdiest.
NOT DEPENDABLE!!!
motorola repair is a joke!!!
must be a reason why they discontinued this phone already.

advice-don't buy it. period. looks like i'm buying a phone off of ebay.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I dont talk on my phone that much i didnt use it at all one day took it off the charger at 8:00 am and it was dead at noon i'm trying to get altell to let me trade for a differnt model of phone but they i have a new contract for 2 yrs. they say this phone gets the best signal but i cant fid where they tested the phone i never have a good signal.

m00ktoo submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

Although this phone has been discontinued by all of its providers, I know some people may choose to by a lightly used one or maybe one off ebay, so I would like to warn you! This phone is not worth a penny.

Sure, when I first got it brand new, it worked great. Came with alright ring tones, and everything seemed to be working great. It wasn't long after that when I started noticing problems. During almost every call, there was a distinctive beat.. I always referred to it as my phones heart beat, it is rather annoying while trying to talk.

Also, it didn't take long for the front display screen to mess up. There is something that is hanging down above the time. It is VERY distracting! And a eye sore.

The battery is crap. I have friends with other Motorola phones, and their phones charge could last them all day if they didn't talk on it.. If I am at school and leave my phone on all day, but the end of the day, I have one bar.

Also, I won't just have dropped called, but sometimes my phone just turns off. Apparently it must tell me when I have been talking too long? Because I can be in the middle of a conversation, and click, it turns off.

Consumer BEWARE!! This phone is not top quality.

PROS :
Nothing that stays PRO

CONS :
The Phone

Hope this is helpful for anyone thinking of purchasing this awful phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

That_phone_guy_A1A submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I've read through every review, and I've got to say I agree with a lot of whats been said.

I have had this phone for close to two years. I have put up with a lot of stuff for this phone. I had the phone for maybe four months before they put out the recall on it, for the bad ear piece. I didn't know about the recall, and ended up just getting the ear piece replaced. After dealing with that, I have had to deal with horrible reception, and other issues. And especially as of lately, the battery.

The battery on this phone, to put it bluntly, sucks. Now, I can put it on the charger for my seven hour work shift, take it off when I leave...and then make a five minute phone call on the way home. And then the phone beeps and says low battery. My phone has been living in a permanent state of low battery for dang near 3 months. Toss it on a charger, low battery for 10 hours, toss it on a charger...etc etc etc.

And now the new occurrence. I went to Chicago over the weekend. My phone died in its "low battery" stage, and I could barely get it to turn back on. It would flash "moto" at me, and turn off. So I tossed it on a charger at work this morning...and...pllltbnbbbbthhhh.

Nothing. My phone doesn't even do that anymore. It blinks. It lights up, still black screen, and fades right back to darkness. Try putting it on the charger, It turns my phone into a freaking strobe light, not charging it, not turning it on, just making it flash.

I'm three months out until my contract is up, and great. I have a freaking strobing paper weight for a cell phone.

Great.

I hate this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chuckvaz submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is one of the best I've had. I live in rural west central Florida and my company was at odds with a previous carrier that plagued us with a multitude of dropped calls and bad service. Luckily we changed carriers and we all got V262's as they worked best in our area. I've never had a dropped call in the 3 months that we've had the new phones. A word of caution: The only available charger is the travel charger and it has already messed up 2 phones in our company. If it's left plugged in for an extended period of time, the phone will not charge anymore and the battery icon will disappear and the battery will discharge completely. Overall if you need a phone that works in elevators and malls, this is the one to get.

Pro's:

It works, period. Even if you're in a manhole.
No dropped calls.
Distinctive rings.
Can program ringer/vibrator functions without opening the phone.

Cons:

Travel charger can foul up phone.
No desk charger.
Holster doesn't support phone well, better get a cheap holster from any discount store or mall kiosk before you end up losing your phone in a jetway ramp or scaffold.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The other two went bad -- a problem admitted by my US Cellular reps. I had to go buy an earpiece 4 months ago because I can't hear using the phone itself. The calendar alarm doesn't go off at the right times either.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pixiesticks_101 submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I got this phone for my birthday. I was excited but it has been a pain and caused many headaches. The battery life is horrible. I plug it in all day and take it off and in an hour its dead. I can't charge it and talk on it at the same time because it becomes fuzzy but as soon as you unplug it from the charger you can hear fine but then the battery goes dead..again. I have missed many calls because of this phone. Some calls don't even show up on the recieved folder. I hear about them later from angry friends. My phone will have full signal and it will go straight to my voice mail. I don't text message either because for some reason I'm not able to. I've only gotten a few text messages. I can't seem to send them though. The battery is my biggest problem though.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

brassmonkey submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone is the worst. I got it free with my plan. It makes calls occasionally, but after every call it hangs up. It doesn't hold a charge. The ring mode changes on its own which is very upsetting when you're expecting an important call and miss it because the phone set itself on Silent. The alarm doesn't work.

The best thing I can say about this phone is that I got it for free.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

arctic.banana submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I had this phone for a good 6 months prior to my upgrade to the V710 (not counting my 2 days of the 265), and to say the least I was impressed with the simplicity of it.

The 262 met all my expectations easily. The software was nice and simple for me to use, quick-linking the menu options to some buttons was dirt simple, and keys were large and fit nicely for those of us with fat and clumsy fingers (Hoorah!).

I've noticed in a couple reviews that people have been having issues with the battery life and reception. I run off of Telus' network and have always been pleased with them. Their American parent company Verizon, however, seems to have some issues making customers happy. I can't comment on how this phone works on US networking, but on Telus I get reception everywhere...literally. I've been everywhere from fields to underground parking 2 levels down, and this pup still works.

As for the battery, running off of the default settings will get you a nice long life out of it if your using it in homes, cars, outside, and most office building. More or less everywhere for the average person. But I find if your using it in isolated buildings like malls or rural areas where your phone does a good chunk of roaming, you MAY noticed the battery draining a tad quicker. If you go into your settings and change it from 'Search Signal' to 'Home Mode Only'. This will help cut down on roaming and save you some life on the battery...

Pros:

- User friendly (IMO)
- Great Battery life
- Amazing Reception
- Sturdy

Cons:

- Small screen

All-in-All, I've been happy with this phone. Besides the small screen size, I'd still recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend any cash on a phone, or using Pay-As-You-Go.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GC submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is really good. The voice quality is great and so is the look. Not only does this phone look and sound good, but it is very tough. I've dropped it on to concrete many times and it still works like it did before.

Pros:
-Tough exterior
-Nice external LCD
-Speaker phone is very good
-Easy to use
-Looks great (inside and out)
-All the features work well
-Buttons on the side are perfect size.
-Good amount of contacts (unlike 250 or 300 this phone has 500 which is quite good)
-Enough ring tones (not a whole lot, but you should be able to find one you like)

Cons:
-Not a whole lot of features, but a phone is to call people with, not to play games or surf the internet.
-Antenna looks cheap because of its cheap plastic.

All in all this phone is pretty good and I highly advise you to buy it. It is one of my favorite non-camera phones I have used/seen.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

quikcall submitted this review of the Motorola V260 / V262:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

June 4, 2006
As an experienced Motorola user for years, my overall V262 experience has been very good.

I feel the Pro's are:
1. It generally feels good in your hand.
2. The ear piece voice is OK, but not great.
3. My network signal seems solid in my area of west Florida (Clearwater/St.Pete)and I seldom "drop" calls. (MetroPCS network).
4. Ability to plug into my RJ11 "docking" station. This enable's me to use standard "wired" phone devices on the MetroPCS network. I achieve the same benefits as if using the older Motorola 120.

Con's:
1. "snap" in charger is still weak. I prefer the easier to use "plug" in style (for example, as on Nokia and Samsung).
2. Phone book is poor. Does not allow multiple phone numbers for same name, example home; office, mobile. Also does it allow adding such things as comments for a number.
3. Speaker phone is hard to hear. Callers tell me I sound like a am inside an "oil-drum".
4. Drop down/pull up antenna is very weak. I know mine will soon break.
5. Size of clock "time" of day is very small. (I need glasses to read it.)
6. Assigned "ring" tone (to my personal phone numbers) OFTEN plays the WRONG tune when my family or friends call. I now 100% don't trust it.
7. Poor battery talk time life.
(ps: My "plan" provides UNLIMITED talk time. Therefore, battery life gets very SHORT resulting in dropped calls when the battery finally goes dead. It forces me to always keep my charger plugged in when on the road).

Best of luck if you get this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
