mattfu45 submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had my V80 for about a month and it is very cool.

Pros
1. The awesome switch-blade like opening. Very sleek and eye catching.

2. The bright lights that light up when your phone rings. They can be programmed to several solid colors or a few random multiple patterns.

3. Cool scroll toggle. Very easy to navigate with. Haven't had any trouble with it. (Although there seems to be some negative opinions about it)

Cons

1. Camera is pretty weak. I've seen better on Motorola phones

2. My phone was made to work in Germany or something. My T9 rarely guesses the correct word I'm trying to spell (always guesses crazy German words). Have to text the old school way.

3. Battery life does not last long if you use it a lot. I have to recharge every night.

Overall, I like the phone. A little disappointed with the battery life, but all in all, this is an eye catching phone that nobody else has. I bought mine off eBay for around $125.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

loveandhappiness07 submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Well i purchased my phone a few months ago; and let me tell you when i first got it i was so exited it was like no other phone i had ever seen or experienced, however, i am a little disatisfied due to the lack of flash on the camera and i also cant seem to record video clips(so the manual says it has VIDEO MODE)the manual also came in another foreign language but i managed to get it in english. well i also enjoy the lights on the outside of the phone(it atrracts a lot of attention, for those of you who enjoy being the 'spotlight;)this phone is real loud compared to the other cingular phone i used to have. I cant feel the phone vibrating at all...if you dont take care of the screen trust me anything it comes in contact with may harm it.sometimes i feel like if i open the rotator real fast it will go flying off into its own world; it feels like everytime you open it there's a possibility you may yank it off. i bought the Motorola V80 for $240 only because i wanted just the phone i already had a contact with cingular; otherwise it would have been $120.Other than the flash and the fact that i cant record video clips i give the phone a 4.0. it feels nice to take out your violet flashing light phone and flip it open like no other phone.
Hey maybe this could be a master card commercial...
Motorola V80 Wireless Cellphone: $240
Extra Compatible Accesories:$45
the look on peoples faces when they see a phone rotator that kool with flashing lights:priceless...
there are some things money cant buy for everything else there's MasterCard:)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rachie_pie submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

Pros: The phone looks good generally, has amazing flashing lights around the edge and swivels. Full 5 points for the overall look and appeal of the phone. With the right network the phone texts and calls very efficiently.

However, when it comes to the durability and functionality of the phone everything went downhill. I've had in total 4 replacement phones and bought a new screen, I only kept the phone because it was bought on contract. I've had my current replacement for just over a 3 months and I can't wait to get a new phone for the following reasons.

Cons: The good looking cursor falls off if you pull the phone out of your pocket awkwardly, leaving a sharp plastic nobble for you to use. Place anything remotely hard on the edge of the phone and you're left with permanent scratches or loss of paintwork. The current condition of my phone is awful, the camera has stopped working, the phone turns itself off, often permanently till it receives a slight whack. The memory is awful for the price paid, 1 song can be stored with minimal pictures. Blue tooth is horribly slow and rarely stays on for longer than 5 minutes. If the phone is used alot during a day the battery will die very quickly.

If this phone was not on contract I would have changed it immediately. Once finished with the enjoyment of the flashy lights and not so good ring tones this phone loses all appeal. Don't be fooled by the 'fun' exterior. I'm getting the Sony Ericsson k700i and I can't wait!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I paid 149.20 at ebay@SellularPhones.com, for a brand new phone. came just as described with extras.

Cons: I had cingular service in Louisiana when i purchased this phone. not good. phone has tri-band which only supports 900/1800/1900 MHz. In my area cingular is predominantly 850mhz. inside my house I can't use this phone. Outside it picks up on the old at&t network with 5 bars. No one wants to stand out side and use their phone. I hear that T-mobile was mostly 1900 MHz. So I switched to them just to be able to use this cute little phone. had to sign up for one year of service and buy another phone. so I purchased one that had a 850 mode. I will unlock it and use it with cingular and have two phones. way cool!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I bought it off eBay and I haven't really gotten the feel for it, but i only had it for a day so we will see what I can make of it.

PROs:
- Nice color screen and size ofthe screen is a plus
-The lights on the side are cool.
-Volume is good and the speaker is great
- Switchblade feature is tight!

CONs:
- Can't seem to get into my web browser
- picture camera is in a weird spot
- the case that they have for it is funky looking, like a small pouch or purse.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

seanner submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have had my V80 for quite a few months now. I love it! Not only am I getting constant attention from the flashy lights and sleek design but the quality of the phone is not lacking. I use Cingular in the Midwest and have absolutely no trouble getting reception anywhere. The phone, in my opinion, is quite durable. I've dropped it once and it came open and was run over by a shopping cart. All that came of it was some small scratches on the front and a small scratch on the back that's not even noticeable any more. Never have I had a phone endure that and not come out looking like crap! The joystick on my phone has never given me trouble. It's very sturdy and I carry it in my pocket often and have never had trouble. I love the switchblade feel to this phone. You slightly push it and swoosh it's open just like that. Granted the screen takes a moment to switch directions, but on other swivel phones such as the S710 the screen doesn't even switch directions for you. You have to turn the phone upside down to view it. It's a small price to pay in my book. The picture quality on this phone is awesome. Compared to that of many other phones my friends have it's fantastic! I've never taken a bad picture with this phone. They are all crystal clear. It has a nice big screen. You don't have to open it up to play games or scroll through your menus. You do have to open it up to talk on it, but you have to do the same with a flip phone. This is the best phone I've ever had, and I've had many ranging from LG to Samsung to Nokia. This definitely tops my list!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Jhanner submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

The only reason I am giving this phone a .5 is because of the swivel open design. What, Motorola couldn't even give it a 360 degree rotation? Come on! The green joystick broke and I had to super glue it back on. The reaction speed when text messaging or browsing through menus is horribly slow. I used it with T-Mobile and it did get me better reception than my other Samsung E105, I will say that. The camera quality is horrible and even that is an understatement. The bluetooth connectivity is unreliable on this phone. I had to turn on the headset, turn off the headset, and then turn on the headset a second time to get the phone to sucessfully connect to the headset. I was using a HS820 by Motorola. This afternoon, I went to spind open the phone and low and behold, the display went. I don't even want to send it back to Motorola for repair. I used it and put up with the flaws for 3 full months and that was plenty. I'm back to my E105. Looking towards the A630, loving the idea of that QWERTY keypad...or possible a Samsung E720.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I had the v600 before this, and this far surpasses that model. This is by far the best phone I've ever had. It's really a fun phone..and what's cool is that nobody has this phone anywhere in the states...so I get a lot of looks :). I love how the whole perimeter of the phone lights up when it rings.

I took a risk getting the phone because of it lacking an 850 band, but after testing it in certain areas I've found that it doesn't seem to make any difference because the 850 band doesn't seem to be prevalant, if not non-existant in my area.

I highly recommend it; just find out if your area uses the 850 band first or you won't be a happy camper.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

richie4kirsty submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I absolutley love this fone. It looks great and its not like a feather in your hand! As people have said before, my thumb stick has broken, but although it is broken, it is still pretty easy to get through the menus. I love the swivel design and have not had a problem with opening it. I would recommend this fone to ANYONE! as long as they are willing to pay the price. I'm from England, and have not yet seen this fone in any shop. Blue-tooth is good and is a handy feature to have. Overall:

Pros:
The design
The interface (same as other 'v' series but still good)
Very large screen
Good quality camera
Calling colours (THEY'RE GREAT!)
Landscape camera mode

Cons:
Slow switching to display when opening and closing fone
Slightly fragile on the thumb navigation button (overall nice and sturdy)
Camera not placed in the best position in the world but its usable

Overall, this fone is the best one ive had, and ive had a few. I really do like this fone despite the cons, as the pros make the fone more superior to any other ive used. The only thing im disappointed about is that its not a camera fone. This is a shame as this extra feature would have made it great. Overall though, the best fone going. If you have the money, BUY IT!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The only problem I have run into is that the joystick broke so now it is hard to manuever through screens, but sending to motorola to get fixed because under warranty. Only thing I wish it had was video camera and then I would be the happiest person alive. But very good phone with no flaws except that joystick is a little fragile when in your pocket.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I'll start with my pros/cons :

PROS:

screen is beautiful, and huge
bright vibrant display
Mp3 ring tones, speaker phone BLUETOOTH
rhythm lights, the lights that dance when their is music playing; it's all about style
camera is clear for VGA quality
SWITCHBLADE FEATURE IS AWESOME!!!

CONS:

screen likes to tweak out and phone needs to be reset every so often to access full menu options
Battery isn't all that great, but it's not too bad either

the things i was worried about with this handset I'm as of now, not concerned with. The green joystick isn't falling apart, or fragile, as a matter of fact, this phone is pretty sturdy. it is a nice size, and nice shape.. has excellent data storage for not having a card expansion slot. RF (reception) is fine.. no issues here, (Seattle Washington area)

summary.. this phone does what it's supposed to do, and in that i mean dazzle and show off. and it does it well.. lots of my friends want one now... lol too bad i won't tell where i got it for under 200 bux;)
i won't be changing phones for a while. MM bluetooth.!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Ravinazz submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Well i just picked this phone up last week, and let me tell you, its worth every penny!

Not only does it look incredibly cool, it is a awesome phone. I currently have t-mobile service, and this phone gets great reception on it, almost always full. The batter is just as good as it is listed. I have not charged the phone in 2 days and only talked about a total of 3 hours, and its not even half way used.

The weight is less that i orignally thought. It is not a hassle at all, when i have it clipped on my belt you cant even tell. Bluetooth is fantastic aswell! I have left this phone at my computer and walked downstair and still get great connections.

Over all the phone is fantastic. I dont understand why peple say it is too fragile or fells cheap. It is a heavier phone with a very good design. I have never had an issue of getting it open and getting a phone, and the thumbstick is still in perfect working order. I never stick phones im pcket with anything else, its either in my coat pocket alone, or 90% of the time its attached to my belt. I love this phone, a great pick up for anyone!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hawk2469 submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I picked this phone up from a store on ebay for an incredible price, and regardless of other reviews, and i incredibly happy. I had the v600 before this, and i view this as an upgrade.

The swivel/slider design is beautiful and catches the eyes of everyone around. The screen is great quality and very durable. Many say the phone is fragile, and it is, but most phones are. When you pay a higher price for a phone you wlll treat it better, and you just have to be aware of it. The only problems that ever arise with me and phones is having it on a belt clip and bumping into something or dropping it. Using the phone by itself is fine. The swivel design is not cheap and it is durable.

I was surprised at the battery life too. Many people have said it was bad, but for me its great. Coming from the v600, which weighs more and has lower battery life, it is superb. Very easy to open the swivel, and true it only swings one way, but that shouldnt be an issue. I can open it weather i have it upside down, sideways or what everm aslong as you have it swivel the right way, there shouldnt be a problem. I, like most users, have not missed any calls because i have problems opening it, like some others have expressed.

The blue tooth is wonderful. Very easy to set up, and it doesnt kill the battery life as much as i thought it would.

Overall i am very happy with this phone, it is well worth it. It is durable and very good on the eyes. For me, battery life is not a problem compared to other phones out there for the same/similar price. Reception is fantastic, but it does depend on your carrier as well. Overall i am happy, and would reccommend this to anyone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

djsayegh submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This phone has one purpose, To be "cool", and it does that very well.

I use T-Mobile's Service in the North East, which unfortunately is not too good.

MAJOR CON:
The Reception in my experience when comparing to my previous samsung E715 was terrible with the V80, it drops calls and looses signal far more often than my E715.

PROs:
The Phone looks and feels great especailly the fact that it's not sold by any US wireless service, makes it that much more unique.

The Functionality of the phone is good. there are things I can do with this Phone that I couldn't do with the E715.

Such as: cut and paste just about any text displayed.
Data Cable Sync, and more veiwing space in the screen.
Ringer profiles
Speaker phone
Bluetooth(haven't used it)

Overall, Think Twice before getting this phone. Because the most this phone has to offer is a flashy design, Which is a good thing but reception should not suffer that much on a phone in this high-end class.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Although I have had 2 of them and I have not been able to use the phone for more than 36 hours before the phone broke!!!! BEWARE, do not purchase this phone. The greenish joystick button breaks off very easily. If you are a guy and put your phone in your pocket, do not even consider this phone. My first one broke immediatley(brand new), the second lasted almost 2 days before it broke off. For some reason after this happens, the joystick doesnt work what-so-ever. I cannot access any menu's anymore. I'm going to go back to my V525 and i'm out $800 altogether. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE UNTIL THEY IMPROVE IT!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

b_lett submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone is a complete piece of crap. The people at motorola lured us with the phones attractive and ingenious swivel design, but left us hanging with its lack of performance ability. It gets no reception. The swivel is smooth, but the screens reaction time to the swivel is slow at best. The camera quality is poor. The placement of the camera lense is not intuitive. The speakerphone is a piece of crap. The battery cover is extremely hard to remove. The phone is easily scratched. The interface is identical to motorolas V300,v400,v525,v600, and probably the next ten models they'll come out with. The screen is dull and lacks the vibrance found in the previous motorola v series phones. If you are considering purchasing this phone please continue to look, I dont wish this phone on anyone. The only positive thing about this phone is the swivel design. But design alone doesn't warrant a $375 price tag.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jlbrowniii submitted this review of the Motorola V80:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I purchased this phone after reading the other reviews of the Motorola v80. The writers of these reviews have either never purchased this phone or work for motorola. I have never been so disappointed!!! First of all the phone is VERY fragile! Second the opening action was never thought out by motorola's r&d department. It only opens one way...that causes a problem of not being able to open it if the phone is up-side-down or backward. On about 75% of my received calls I had to take a good look at the phone and re-position the phone in my hand in order to open it up and receive the call. There is not an option to take the call without opening the phone. The phone has wasted space and could have been made smaller. The phone is heavy. The phone does not have a great battery life. In summary...there is nothing great about this phone...it is more of a headache than anything else. I now use a motorola v505 which I was going to sell after getting the v80. Boy was I wrong!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've gone through Motorola V66, V60, V70, V525, Samsung S300, S307, LG 4600 and now the Motorola V80. This phone is by far the greatest phone i've ever had. I've used this phone for a few days now and I have to admit that compared to my old V525, this V80's reception is not quite as good. But I cannot find anything major to complain about this phone, except perhaps the price. It's certainly not a giveaway. But if u want a sleek phone with nice features u got to pay the price. I recommend this phone to anyone who wants a super cool phone. You won't be disappointed!

PROS:
-small, light, sleek design
-good camera with cool features
-the box comes with bluetooth
-decent reception
-loud rings and speaker

CONS:
-pricey
-very fragile
-battery life

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I must say that the "cool factor" on the v80 is outstanding. You definitely get a second look in crowds when you open it to answer. Signal strength is excellent considering it has an internal antenna. I use AT&T Wireless in the midwest. Sound quality is also one of the best I have seen and of course the speakerphone and Bluetooth connection definitely comes in handy!
My one complain is that the battery does not seem to last as long on standby as advertised as I am lucky to get a full day out of it before charging again.
Overall, I give it 2 thumbs up...great design!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
