castog submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have this phone for more than two years now. I use the Mobile Speak screen reader for the blind and have found it to be very dependable. I'm not ready to get rid of it yet.

Pros
Good sound quality, never lost a call even if in Canada. Lots of third party applications, no need for a PDA.
Rugged and dependable. Dropped and lost my 6620 often but found it back again every time due to the long life battery and loud ringer. Good and intuitive blue tooth support.

Cons.
Firmware is flimsy. Some supplied applications do not work properly even after checking with the screen reader provider for interference. Gonna have to check for third party applications.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I finally got my hands on a 6620! So far, I like it.

Cons:
Only 10 minute video record {but who of us that takes videos on their phones will really take more than 10 minutes on their video, except for the freaks?!}.
Uses real player. I'm still a fan of Windows Media Player, but to each their own.

Wish it had:
FM Radio
Video editing, like the 6682 does.
Instant messaging.

Pros:
It's Nokia!!
Great call clarity.
Don't let the VGA fool ya! The camera works good!
Plays mp3 and ringers quite loudly.
Great PDA functions.
It works good as an older phone, when newer phones I've had were crappy right out of the box.
It works with my new sim card.

I took back a Nokia 6126 for this phone. It was worth it; and like Lot leaving Sodom and Gommorah {Genesis 19}, I didn't look back. I wanted the 6126 to be my phone, but I got the 6620 for half the price and it does twice the things that the 6126 does. I normally keep a close watch of the 30 day trial period, but I don't think I'll need to with this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

TimmyM submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

After reading the reviews for this phone I had to get one. Once recieved, I was disapointed and most likely I'll be getting rid of it.

Pros

Nice bright screen.
Good volume.
Loud ringtone.
Speaker phone.

Cons:
Worthless caller id. The phone has this huge screen but when placing a call or receiving one it only uses a small banner along the bottom of the screen. It has picture CID but the picture only appears as a very small icon in this banner. I don't know how many times that I have saved and re-saved numbers under contacts in the phones phonebook and they still don't show up with CID.

Very poor SIM support. All my contacts are on my sim card. Along with my speed dial numbers. This phone does not support CID from the SIM card. For example my girlfriends cell is #36, home is #37. When I press 36# all I get is the phone number, not the contact's name or picture.

No way to add speed dial. I use speed dial constantly. With this phone I have yet to find a way to add a new speed dial. The one's that I have saved on my SIM (configured with a different phone) work fine but no way to add new ones. I talked to a rep at a Nokia kiosk and he said that nokia does not use speed dial and that I should use their voice dial. Sorry not interested.

Keypad do not automatically lock. Yes, thats right, the keypad has to be lock manually after every call. The very first phone I ever had well over 10 years ago had an automatic keypad lock. What the heck is Nokia thinking???? What you can do is have the phone lock, which requires entering a five digit code everytime you want to unlock it. What a PITA! Or you can BUY second party software. Is it me or should this be standard on every flippin' phone!?!?

No standard headphone jack. This phone supposly plays mp3's. Okay, but there is not standard headphone jack so how do I hear them? Since I bought my phone second hand my guess is they must supply some with a new phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

zippyteen submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

First off, I've owned this phone for the past year, so I have been able to experience and test this phone for all it's worth.

Design: You'll see that the Nokia 6620 is of an egg-shaped form. It's not too much heavier then most phones sold today, and considering all that you can do with an S60 Symbian Smartphone; the size of the 6620 is indeed remarkable. The number keys are small, but easy to use and in a normal keypad layout. Uber nice when text messaging or writing e-mails on the 6620.

Features: Where to begin! First off, you have to remember that the Nokia 6620 is a "Smartphone". It's wonderful because with the Internet, you can install a countless number of programs onto your phone. As far as what's preinstalled on the 6620, you get the following: a 0.3 Megapixel VGA Camera, Text Messaging and Picture Messaging, and thanks to the Nokia 6620 running on Symbian Series 60, you can search online and download games onto your phone. The 6620 also has space for an MMC (Multimedia Card) expansion card. Bluetooth and Infrared are also standard on the 6620 to allow for easy data transfers or to use a Bluetooth headset for wireless communication!

Battery Life: The Nokia 6620 comes with a Nokia BL-5C Battery, which allows for upwards of 4 days of pure standby time, or 2 days of normal usage on the phone before having to charge up the phone again.

Call Quality: the Nokia 6620 is excellent. The 6620 handily outdid my former phone, the Sony Ericsson T616. Now consider the fact that the T616 was known by many for it's clarity and ability to find and hold on to a phone signal where most GSM phones of the time could not; and the 6620's performance becomes that much more impressive!

Overall Opinion: I can honestly say that I have not changed phones yet because I have no reason to! The Nokia 6620 is a workhorse that I've come to appreciate. If Phonescoop allowed for reviews over 2000 words, I'd have even more good things to say about the 6620!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Calendel submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Everyone has touched on the fantastic features and expandability of this unit, and trust me this thing rocks. If you are using something basic like a razr or the like, switch up to this phone asap. The days of sending and ending a phone call are over! So rather than repeat 90% of the posts here, I'll instead list what I found to be the downsides of this phone. There aren't many, but they are annoying....

1) The clock on Nokia phones in general always seem to fall behind. Slowly mind you, and you don't even notice until it's about 5 or 10 minutes behind. A few people i sold this phone to had the same issue and it's not limited to this model. My 3300 also had the same problem. I'd use auto update, but it jumps between central and mountain time all the time. Useless feature for where i'm situated.

2) When turned on it randomly shuts right back off. Doesn't happen often.

That's all I can think of. Awesome phone. Love it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GREATEST RECEPTION I'VE EVER HAD!!! I used to go with Motorola v3 (Razr) for a while, and believe me - NOKIA 6620 IS WAY BETTER THAN RAZR AND IT DRAWS MORE FEMALE ATTENTION TO YOU!!!
The only downside is that accesories (headset, car stereo kit, case, etc.) are expensive as hell...
A++++++++++++++++ Must buy right now, dawg!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Same problem in the "speakerphone" mode. In its loudest setting, the Nokia 6620 sounds almost only as loud as my T60LX at its softest setting.

I am perplexed that nobody else has mentioned this flaw in their reviews here.

I just bought two Nokia 6620s but now I have to return these because this single flaw alone makes it unusable.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

In the past I have own phones like Sony Ericsson T637, Motorola MPx200, and Motorola V300. This phone beats all of them in any possible way. All the features on this phone is simply amazing. Bluetooth is the only feature in a phone thats new to me. I have not yet tried it out but I know I will make good use of it later on. Like I said this is a exellent phone. I have absolutely no complaints about this phone due to it being so good but the only things that I would of liked to have seen was a integrated flash for the camera. That would of helped it a lot at night but I guess it don't matter much.

Pros:

-Screen-
(Large And Colorful)
-Loudspeaker-
(Loud And Clear)
-Design-
(Fairly Small Keypad Though)
-Camera-
(Exellent Quality Photos and Video Clips)
-Battery Life-
(Lasts 4 Days)
-Reception-
(7 Full Bars Usually)
-Bluetooth-
(Not Yet Tried But Im Sure Its A Good Feature)
-MP3 Player-
(Exellent Music Qaulity)
-PDA Functionality-
(Very Good Features To Have)
-Expandable Memory-
(Comes with 32MB but can support up to 1GB!)

Cons:

-Absolutely None-

Like To Have Seen:

-Integrated Flash-
(Would Help Camera A Lot In The Dark)
-FM Radio-
(Would Of Been Nice)
-Side Volume Keys-
(Easier To Change Speaker Volume)

Well thats covers my review and as you can see there is alot of things this phone can offer but there are just a little bit of things that would made the phone better but those things are minor and I really dont mind.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

For those of you who use Nokias, you know the positives in the form of signal strength, volume, user menus and speaker phones. This is consistant with this phone as well. The Bluetooth works seamlessly, although it takes a few steps to sync with your PC using the free Nokia provided software. The size is definitely something to consider, especially if you like to drop your phone into your pocket and go. I use a Krussel case with belt clip, and that works for me. Battery like is surprisingly good for a phone with these features, so long as you're mindful of your Bluetooth. I can usually go 2-3 days with limited BT usage, 1-2 with more. MP3 ringtones are nice but not important to me. For a VGA camera, it takes exceptionally nice photos. In most cases outperforming my SE s710a. The PDA functionality is adequate so long as you aren't using it as your primary PDA device. Overall, I give it a 4.5 - with a better screen, it would be a solid 5.

PROS***
PDA
Camera
Signal
Bluetooth
MP3
Durability

CONS***
Size (for some people)
Screen not as crisp as it could be
Some functions missing that I would like to see.

I would think that the price should have come down some by now, but Cingular is still selling it at $249.99 w/2yr. contract. You can find them on Ebay for less. You won't be sorry with this purchase, and if you haven't used a Nokia in a while, give this one a try.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mace submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

IMHO, the features and size of this phone put it in between the simper "basic" phones and the large PDA-phones. It's a little bit large and oddly shaped, but it fits nicely in my pocket.

All of the features work well. Ringtones sound nice and are usually a decent volume, though it can be harder to hear outdoors. Luckily, it's easy to have it vibrate too. Camera quality is decent for a phone - plenty good enough for e-mailing or messaging, but of course it won't replace a real digital camera. Bluetooth works well for sending files and internet access from a computer, though I haven't tried a headset yet. E-mail and webpages look decent too.

I have also found it to be very durable. I have dropped it several times under various conditions, and the worst that ever happened was that the memory card got knocked out of its slot and had to be reinserted.

No problem battery life either. I usually plug it in every night, but even if I forget for a day or two, the battery life still doesn't go below half.

My only complaints are that the overall stability of the OS isn't perfect - I haven't had any real problems, but it seems to benefit from restarting the phone every few weeks or so. Also, the phone comes with "pocket office" apps, but they are trial versions and you have to pay $10 each for the full version. That was kinda annoying since they implied that it came with the full version.

Pros:
MP3 Ringtones
Bluetooth
Decent camera
PDA Features (notepad, calender, etc)
Menu can be rearranged to your liking
Great signal
Great sound quality

Cons:
Stability could be better
Included apps are only trial versions

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ronclevenger submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I would echo the general comments of those who have reviewed this phone before me. It has terrific reception and features with one exception - voice dialing.

First problem - only one voice tag per name. Thus, you have to decide whether to affix a voice tag to Bob's home, office or mobile phone. If you choose Bob's home for the voice tag, you're out of luck if you want to voice dial his work or cell.

Second problem - actually the first problem is rather irrelevant since voice dialing works poorly if at all. After carefully recording various voice tags, I'm able to successfully voice dial about 5% of the time. I've given up on using this feature.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've been using my 6620 since last March and have loved nearly every minute of it. It's like a really good book in that you can't put it down. This phone has something for everyone:

Business-EDGE technology for fast web browsing and downloading. Email client that gives you access to your office and personal email accounts. Downloadable applications that allow you to read Word and Excel documents. PC suite allows for easy file transfer.

Pleasure: Great camera and video recorder. Mp3 player sounds great. I downloaded an application that allowed me to watch Shrek2 last night. Read books from your favorite aurthor right on your phone. WOW!

Basic: Great reception for making and receiving calls on the Cingular Wireless network. Outstanding voice quality.

Improvements: Better voice commands!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hodgie submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

the only reason it dosen't get a five is because most of the apps are all "trial" only, you know, same how microsoft does with a pc. anyway, expandable memory on a phone is awesome, i took out the 32mb card that came with the phone and replaced it with a topram 1gb card, about 80 bucks off ebay, but it was waaay worth it. i have the realplayer maxed out at 99 songs, downloaded for free from livewire and synched to the mmc. i also have movies etc, downloaded off the internet and converted to 3gp format to play on the phone with the easy drag n drop software from nokia http://us.f604.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?.rand=bokvn9f2odk26 takes a second to download and you can convert ANYTHING to 3gp and toss it on the mmc. pretty bad ass. i still haven't found a converter to change mp3 to sp-midi, which is the nokia ringtone format, but its only a matter of time. forget paying for ringtones when i find that software! i have the mobitv too, its pretty decent, not great, but a definite conversation piece. this phone is basically a portable dvd/tv/mp3/video/camera/phone all in one. it does none of them as good as a stand alone unit would, but cmon, its all of the above in a unit that fits in your pocket! i have the wireless adapter from belkin that lets me tune my radio in the car to 88.7 fm and play the mp3's on my phone thru the car stereo, like the xm satellite adapter. its a sweet phone, and im happy i bought it. it does so much i still haven't even used all the features yet, and ive had it 2 weeks.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

andrei_48911 submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for over two month now, and it is by far the best I ever had. I can only say that during that time I completely ditched my Sony Clie organizer, stopped carrying my digital camera with me all the time, and got over the craving for an iPod. This phone can do it all and then some.

Saying that the phone is good but the software quality is poor is like saying that this computer is good but it's software is bad. Which computer? Which software? The plethora of programs for Symbian OS is amazing, some of them are buggy, some of them are useless, and some of them will mess up your phone. Just like a computer...

Built in programs for voice recognition, e-mail, or playing movies (RealPlayer) are not the best. That's why you get NeuVoice (or VoiceDailer), ProfiMail and SmartMovie. Those are really great.

Oh, yeah... I also got Think Outside Bluetooth keyboard, and now I don't carry my laptop when I'm on the road, because I used it mostly to check and reply to e-mails. Now I do it on my phone. Oh boy, the looks I get at coffee shops...

I never had my phone lock up on me, and doing all those little tweaks to the settings really make a difference in how fast the interface is.

I will get Nokia 6681 when Cingular picks it up, but for right now this is by far the best phone out there.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

worldwideweber submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've used this phone for 6+ months. There is nothing else on the market that comes close to the quality, features, and functionality of this phone. It has allowed me to easily dump my PDA. This phone is far superior to my prior phones: Sony Ericsson T62u and Siemens S46. It's also better than my Pocket PC which suffers from terrible battery life.

what I like best:
reception (ATTWS in Dallas, TX; also worked well in west Texas/New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Houston)
outlook sync works well and has multiple options (usb, IRDA, bluetooth)
calendar
contacts (stores much more than just name and number)
memory card
mp3 player
loud ringer
battery life and talk time
feels solid, has survived multiple drops on pavement

what I don't like:
speaker phone not quite loud enough for highway driving, though the caller hears me fine
proprietary headset/stereo headphone plug

what I wish it had:
speaker-independent voice dialing
larger number buttons (I find this a problem with every phone)

things I'm indifferent about, thus I haven't used:
additional Symbian applications (ie games)
web access
text messaging/e-mail

Once they get past the form factor (why is everyone so fixated on flip-phones?), everyone that has seen it and what it does really likes it. You won't regret getting this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

smittysez submitted this review of the Nokia 6620:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I have used the Nokia 6620 for 10 months.

I have also been extremely disappointed by the AT&T/Cingular support and merger. While I love GSM, I loath Cingular.

PROS:
Very good design, as expected form Nokia.

- The joystick .. Love it!!

- Nice big screen. Great for messages, email and complex phonebook entries.

- Great Phonebook!! Allow all data types I never needed: phones, addresses, email, notes, birthday, whatever. Lets you edit labels. Lts you indicate defaults for phone, SMS, email, etc.

- Great Ring versatility: whatever you can imagine, WAV, MP3; by number, by group, by profile, whatever.

- Copy/paste with the joystick & email allows for easy data management without a keyboard.

- Camera was VERY EASY to use on this phone.

- I fell in love with Bluetooth with my 6620. I will not by another phone without Bluetooth

CONS:
While the deign was good, the software was poor..

- Voice command is VERY buggy. I need a 1.5 second delay in front of every command, both recording and recalling voice commands. Also, the voice recognition was EXTREMELY poor, the worst I have experience from Nokia. Only worked 1/5 of the time.

- User interface had random lags.

- If the signal dropped while establishing a call, the phone would lock up and require a cold start.

- Phone locks up, for many reasons. Sometimes in the middle of a call, leaving your caller connected to the network waiting for you. Battery had to be removed and phone cold started, sometimes multiple timers per day.

- Battery life was poor. Battery efficiency got worse as time went on. After 10 months, the phone could not make it though the day without being charged, even with a NEW Nokia battery.

- Every other Nokia I ever used had a stopwatch application. This is noticeably missing in the 6620.

- Hard to find good application software.

- The stock ear bud is pathetic. If you get a 6620, get a Bluetooth earpiece.

- Hard to find a good case

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Its packed with features, a great camera, and is very user friendly; (if you have experience with a PC).

Pros:
Great Design
Large Display
User Friendly Features
Great Pictures
A lot of Memory (over 500 hi res. pics.)
10 Min. of video
EDGE
Great software:
Games with great graphics
Microsoft Office Mobile
Cool image editing software
Great battery life for a PDA
(be sure to let the battery go completely dead, and then recharge at least 3 times for optimal battery life)
The signal strength is amazing! (I live in Arkansas, and this phone has never had under 4 bars anywhere. All the other phones that I've had have never had as many bars in some places that this phone has had.)

Cons:
Small keypad
(but you get used to it after a while)
IMPORTANT: if you send more than 20 and receive more than 20 SMS's a day, be sure and delete them, and set the call log to delete all log information after one day, or the phone will start to lock up when receiving a call or making one. That also makes the phone process more quickly.

All in all this is a great phone, i went through three different phones, the Motorola V551, LG 1400, and the LG 1200, until i got to this one, and by far this is the best phone cingular has to offer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
