AceMcCrank submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have lived in several different cities over the United States since I first got my Nokia 6010 back in 2004. I'll admit, I went for the LG chocolate as a new phone, but after disappointment over reception and durability, I headed straight back for this indestructible little guy on my prepaid T-Mobile account.
I've dropped this thing out of third-story windows, it's been run over several times, even managed a swim in a pool, two toilets, and a bathtub. I digress, the battery life is no longer the week and a half it used to be. Now I'm lucky to get a day. But, a new battery is less than $10 with shipping. Which is less than getting a new phone still.

Pros:
•Cheap battery replacement
•Extreme durability
•I've had ONE dropped call since I purchased this phone. So great reception.
•Simple to use
•quick to recharge
•Great call volume
•Great ringtone volume
•Excellent battery life for texters (pure texting, I can still manage up to 4 days without needing a recharge!)
Cons:
•3-channel headsets are hard to find
•Internet is obscenely slow, and no longer needed on this phone anyway. There's no downloads for it anymore.
•No speakerphone

Now, if they were to build a smartphone with this durability and reliability, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ATnT Nokia submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I recently purchased a 6010 from Ebay since I have been having so many problems with AT&T's shady network. This phone gets the best reception out of any of AT&T's current models!

Battery life cannot be beat, it goes for days without needing a charge. The phone is very durable, and it does not feel too cheap unlike today's models in which you pay too much for only to get flimsy housing and construction.

The Nokia 6010 is built tough, and I am sure I'll get years outta this phone.

Amazing device, I wish they still made them.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hepresearch submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I got my Nokia 6010 from Cingular back in 2005, and have had it unlocked since (just for fun). I still slip my SIM card in it from time to time just to see if it still works, and it always does, even after 4 years of extreme abuse. My 6010 has endured falls from third-floor balconies, submersion in puddles in my wife's old Volkswagen Jetta with a broken sunroof on a rainy day, and even once having pent up anger taken out on it unfairly in a fit of rage (it wasn't the poor phone's fault, either). My 6010 has outlasted everything, including the T-Mobile Dash I had purchased since then.

PROS
- simple design and operation
- "Destruction Resistant!", known to survive just about anything, including a fall down the stairs or an accidental swim in a pool
- good signal strength in Harrisburg, PA, area on either T-Mobile or Cingular/AT&T
- good sound quality

CONS
- very few features

Someday when the nuclear holocaust finally happens, I won't be looking for the cockroaches to survive; I'll be keeping my eye out for the Nokia 6010's!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The New ATnT Wireless submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

The Nokia 6010 is a good basic phone, and certainly the last of the great Nokias from the 2000-2006 era.

The current basic Nokias that are offered today are very buggy, whereas classics like the 6010 are super fast, even though they lack much desired features like a top quality color screen.

But if you want a phone for talking and sending the occasional text message, then by golly, the 6010 will work for you.

You can get them on ebay.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Kellis1 submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

This phone is a good bottom of the line cheap phone. the kind you give to your employees to destroy on the job. It serves its purpose, those it could have been made a bit more durable. The 2 of these phones I went through both had the same trouble within the first 3 months. The keys would stick or just completely stop working. On both of my 6010s the three button and the pound button both quit working. This was really annoying. other then this the phone has been a good phone.

PROS: ??? not really any
CONS: Durability

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kf4lne submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for coming up on four years now. Other than my woodstove it has been the most reliable piece of equipment I have owned.

Before I get into the pros and cons let me just remind everyone that this device is a phone. It is not a laptop, TV remote or tricorder nor does it include any of these as add-ons.

PROS:

Nice, loud ringer. This phone rings loud enough to wake the dead.

Big, solid keys. None of this cheap back lit rubber crap.

Reasonably decent internet access considering it is just a phone and not a tricorder or a laptop. It gets my email and weather reports and thats all it needs to do.

Great text messaging capabilities.

Easy to navigate menus

Cons:

Its big. Its not comfortable being carried in the pocket. Get a clip for it.

Nice, loud ringer. Do not sleep with this phone, take this phone to church or a funeral and for God sakes turn it off in the theater. ITS LOUD! (also listed as a pro)

After years of use and abuse I started having problems with the SIM card registering. I had to wedge some thick paper against the back of the SIM card to hold it in place. This is a serious con but easily overcome.

Display size and resolution makes it hard to look at internet porn.

Overall I love this phone. I recently upgraded to a new 2610 and promptly went back to my 6010. I will use this phone until I it dies or is no longer supported by the network.

It has plenty of features for a phone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

IT WAS A GOOD LITTLE PHONE UNTIL LIKE 6 MONTHS L8R. WHEN THE ENTIRE PHONE STARTED TO SHUT DOWN. THIS IS A GOOD PHONE TO GET IF YOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE UP FOR A NICE PHONE AND YOU CAN DO IT WITHIN HALF A YEAR. On average, this phone lasted for a week and a half. These phones are sturdy, well-made, reliable, have good battery life, good sound quality and good reception. The display is a little on the dim side, which makes it difficult to use outside in the sun. Voice dialing is a nice touch. I wish they had added a speakerphone feature. I would still have this phone today except that I needed to go to a clamshell type phone. My job requires alot of getting in and out of tight places and the buttons kept getting pushed accidentally. Great basic telephone!

PROs
Voice dialing
reliable
good reception
clear voice quality
easy to navigate menu system
changeable faceplates (and there is a world of them out there!)
good battery life

CONs
Display could be brighter

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've dropped it on the ground in excessof 6 feet and it survived! I have it on T-Mobile To Go service here in MN, and I almost always have full bars, although I still miss the speakerphone I had on my SE T290a...

PROS:
-Very Durable
-Nice Earpiece Quality
-Great Signal
-Big Buttons (Compared to the SE T290a)
-Long Lasting Battery
-J2ME with Web Access via t-zones
-OK Styling
-Much faster Response time compared to SE T290a

CONS:
-Kinda Big (Compared to the teeny tiny SE T290a)
-No Speaker phone
-The IM wont let me log in as status offline/invisible (Applies to T-Mobile only I tink...)

BTW...this Phone is no longer sold on plans...But it is availible on Prepaid from both CIngular and T-Mobile....

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Trance72 submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for about a year with no problems. I recently bought a Nokia 6102i, but I still feel the Nokia 6010 is better mainly for the reasons someone has a cell phone. Reception is excellent, long battery life, durable, easy to use, and it's a phone! Nothing fancy just a phone that will work, and last no matter what you do with it. I am currently with Cingular, and even they told me it is the most trouble-free phone that they have ever had.

This is a phone, not a camera, no blue-tooth, it is a phone and that is why you buy this little gem. I see complaints that it has no camera, but it's not like it is advertised as a camera/video phone. Also complaints about the display, again it is a low-end phone so it will be basic. I'm probably going to be puting the old SIM card back in my old 6010, just because I love this thing.

Pros:
Excellent reception (Cingular - Tulsa, OK).
Excellent ear volume.
Long battery life.
Loud ringers and strong vibration.
Extremely durable.
Large number keys. Great for text messages.

Cons:
None.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pdrph submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I've had Nokia phones for years, and this is the first one I'm not too fond of. It works fine, except for the display. Nokia needed to make it brighter, especially when the backlight is off. I have to unlock the keypad and put the backlight on to see the screen. My previous Nokia phones were easier to read without the backlight on.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Easy to use, reliable, good audio, reception is solid. Highly recommended for users wanting just a phone and not alot of extra stuff that they never use. Great job Nokia !

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GravityFails submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

After reading the positively nuclear reviews about this phone's "reception," I eagerly locomoted to my nearest Cingular store and purchased what turned out to be their very last one. Since this phone has been discontinued through Cingular, the rep and I shared a bittersweet moment; we laughed a little, but mostly we cried and reminisced about days gone by.

Or...something.

While it seems a bit pointless to review a phone that's not readily available anymore (other than on Ebay), I thought I'd throw my not-inconsiderable weight against the subject and chime in with my own 6010 experience, which, thus far, has been eye-gougingly ordinary.

I don't know if this is a case of the emperor's new clothes among my fellow reviewers or if it's just a difference between networks or what, but I've found the Nokia 6010 to be painfully average when it comes to signal strength. It can't touch the clarity of the V190 or the V557 in my area, but among the other phones that I've tried it's neither better nor worse.

The phone's build is sturdy and creak-free, which I appreciate, and it's large enough to be comfortable for someone with big mitts. The buttons, again, no problems--clicky and responsive is how I'd describe them, with a light undercurrent of coffee, cherry, and asparagus.

Battery life has thus far been impressive, but use has been light, too.

PROS:

+ Impressive collection of ringtones
+ Well-built
+ Works as a phone
+ Won't give you bird flu
+ Impressive earpiece clarity, not to be confused with quality of reception

NOT PROS:

- Screen a bit dim
- 2.5mm jack uses 3-band headset

All in all the 6010 comes off as competent, if not terribly ambitious. You could do worse, but don't expect miracles.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ladytracy submitted this review of the Nokia 6010:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I just bought this phone for my 17 year old son (his first cell phone), as I used the 6010 myself for a year or so, and was never disappointed. This is a good starter phone for a teen, or a good phone for someone just looking for the basics. The sound quality is excellent during conversation, the ringtones are nice and loud (also has vibe mode), and the phone has an excellent battery life. I think the display could be a little better (it's a wee grainy), but this phone is perfect for what it was intended for. A speakerphone would have been good, but honestly, I think that's the ONLY thing this phone lacks. I wanted my son to have a good dependable phone for emergency use, and this seemed to be the most logical choice. Nokia always seems to come through, and they definitely succeeded when they made the 6010.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
