sgtpeppersband9 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I was so excited about getting this device but it is just too disappointing. Let's get the good out of the way first. I never have a dropped call on this device and love its functionality especially after the Jelly Bean update (if you can get it/I'll explain in the bad). The camera is fantastic and love the ability to pause video while recording so you don't have to have separate videos that you can later crop into one. The NFC capabilities are such an awesome feature especially for easy share.

Now for the bad which outweighs the good. When using the motion gesture to make a call from the contact screen (you simply put the phone to your ear while on a contacts thread or the contact's info and it calls the contact). More often than not, this causes the phone to go into emergency calls only and must restart the phone. This was happening even before the 4.1.1 update. Another issue is using headphones. I don't use the headphones for music but I use an aux cable in my car which after playing a song on my car speakers through the stereo, it will resort to playing them on the phone's speaker. Samsung's support for this phone is ineffably horrible, they have no idea how to fix the issue for the phone not connecting via usb to Kies. Could not get 4.1.1 for like 2 weeks til I found a hack for Kies.

The phone's interface is smooth but key features just don't work. If you don't mind staying on ICS or the other issues I mentioned, by all means get this phone but if you demand more from a "flagship" phone, get a Nexus.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

IMBACK20 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I am coming off of an S2 Skyrocket and while i really had no gripes with the rocket, i must say the S3 edges it out... but just barely in certain areas. it is the little things that make the difference. first and foremost let me say that the S3 is faster and smoother than the rocket. swiping between screens and switching between tasks is a breeze compared to the old 'rocket. The addition of the LED notification light is welcome. compared to the rocket's waking the screen whenever a text or notification is received. also warmly welcomed is the inclusion of a flashlight widget (where as with the rocket I'd have to download an app from play store). Battery life seems to be the same or slightly better than the rocket. the camera is a major improvement over the rocket. I've seen many complain about the size (even with large hands) yet i do not seem to have a problem. i am 6'4" with big dumb fingers and i can navigate the soft keyboard with nary a type-o. now to the downside. these are just personal gripes. when i upgraded my rocket to ICS 4.0.4 i was given a bunch of control widgets to put on my home screen that the S3 lacks (maybe they are there and i have yet to find them... beats me) for example, i had toggle widgets for voice control and driving mode. an "active applications counter" widget that would open the task manager when tapped. for that matter the S3 doesn't even HAVE a task manager icon you can put on a home screen! (i managed to find one in the play store though). however i shouldn't have to... most if not all other androids (with the exception of a few crappy boost mobile droids i have owned) included this icon. not sure if i am liking the hard home button. much preferred the capacitive one from the rocket. also gone are home screen toggles for wifi, gps, bluetooth etc (these were moved to the drop down notification bar i soon discovered). In short... a few minor concessions in the upgrade but a rock solid phone all around. deff recommend it to others.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I'm not even going to update to the s4 because it doesn't have enough new features to make me spend the money! I've had this phone now for 6 months and I LOVE it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There is so much things to learn, but its worth it. OMG! I just switched from HTC Vivid (in which I liked a lot) and man....a BIG improvement with the Galaxy S III!

Pros:
Great sound and call quality, loud speakers. SUPER fast internet browser. Size of the screen. GREAT picture quality (takes beautiful pics). Video is excellent too. Bluetooth connection and just tapping another phone to transfer (NFC) is another great feature. I don't fine anything wrong with this phone except that I am finding more stuff that I did not know was phone that is so much fun and useful to have. Very user friendly.

Cons:
None that I can find.

I love this phone.......PERIOD.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

gl47 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I bought an SIII a couple of weeks ago from AT&T and paid the full no contract price so as to use it on a prepaid carrier after having encountered many service and billing issues with AT&T.

However, straight out of the box I experienced Bluetooth connectivity and static issues with my Brand new Plantronics Pro HD headset. Also the Voice dialing is spotty at best and nowhere as good as my iPhone 3GS. I have noticed a number of identical complaints from other users on various sites. Plantronics was good enough to replace the headset but same issues. Samung Support inform me that the SIII is only compatible with Samsung Bluetooth headsets.

Next, after 2 weeks the speaker stopped working, the first time I used the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Battery life is poor at best, about 30% less then my 3-year old iPhone with a weak battery.

I returned to AT&T with the phone but as I did not have an active account they would not honor the warranty and suggested I send the phone to Samsung which I did, After two weeks (Average total repair time is 3 weeks or more) I received an email message saying the phone has liquid damage and the warranty is Voided.

I have not exposed the phone to any moisture and it appears the audio problem has something to do with the headphone jack. I looked online and have found many complaints about Samsung voiding warranties Liquid Damage, User Damage and Sim Abuse and owners believe this is a common ploy to avoid warranty service.

I noticed a number of posts that claim that even exposing the phone to cold using it in high humidity areas like Florida can cause all water damage indicators to turn red and void your warranty.

Considering my current problems and that I have had three other Samsung Android that had major issues I can't give a positive review to Samsung or the Galaxy SIII.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has expandable memory, interchangeable battery and has more free apps than any other operating system Those are just a few of the reasons that made Samsung the number 1 cellular company I can not put it into words how superior this phone is to that piece of junk I-phone when you get this phone it shows that you really know what you are buying and not just following the uneducated I-Phone zombies

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have had so many phones in the past years and I have to say this is the absolute KING of phones yet! I loved my iphone 4S and I thought that the Galaxy SIII wouldn't be able to give it a run for it's money! Boy was I wrong! So let me give you the break down:

Pros:
Amazing 720p SuperAmoled display!
Awesome call quality!
Extremely loud speaker volume!
4.8 inch Huge screen!
I love the Home button!
8mp camera is indeed better than the 4S!
LED Notification!!!
4G+LTE finally!
4.0.4 ICS is Great(although a little buggy at the moment)
2GB of Ram makes this phone multitask like a piece of cake!
In Ear Buds are SHOCKINGLY impressive!!!

Cons:
Battery life is on par (it could totally be me for never putting it down)
Come on with the quad cores already (not a deal breaker)
Can make your hands sweat and get slippery so get a case for your precious Samsung device!

Those are my opinions and I Love this phone and I can't think of any other phone I would get!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The GS2 was the best, in my opinion, but this phone adds a faster processor and more features. The lower-rated reviews either had bad phones, or are simply not accurate... for example, I have VVM on my phone, and my internet speeds run circles around any iphone, especially in LTE areas, obviously. This phone is slightly better than the One X in my opinion, because of the removable battery and expandable memory. Both phones have the S4 processor which is simply amazing, but the GS3 has more RAM. I love the screen, as it is readable in daylight (This particular Pen-tile screen is actually the best all-around screen I have seen as of today). HD+LED=Awesome. The iphone 4s just doesn't cut it, spec-wise; and to compare this phone to the i4 is just ridiculous. The I5 should catch up in regards to hardware, and from there, it will be preference between operating systems. But if you like Android, This phone is a must-see...

Pros: Battery life, Processor, LTE and HSPA+, screen, Camera is AWESOME. Quality and build feels better now, though the Galaxy phones have actually always been more durable than they feel..

Only complaint is Swipe on this phone, takes some getting used to... saves words that you typed incorrectly, and then swipes them on accident...

Also this is a large phone, but that aspect is opinion and perspective-based...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Bought the phone and returned it after two weeks. So did my sister and her best friend. Samsung did a much better job with the Galaxy Note. This phone was basically a copy off of other models technology. Nothing new here.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

t3chn0s1s submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Ever since the original AT&T Galaxy S Captivate I was hooked. The Captivate was my first Android smartphone. I've also had a Galaxy S II Skyrocket , a Galaxy Nexus as well as a One X. While all of those devices were SO SWEET in their own respects the Galaxy S III blows them ALL out of the water hands down. The 2GB of RAM makes this device FLY and lightning fast speeds. There isn't one bit of stutter or lag. All the motion controls are SO useful and EASY to operate. The S Voice app is OK even tho I don't use it much but it's still nice to have but Google Now is my preferred choice. I just can't say enough good things about this handset. However, every handset has it's pros and cons. And the major cons of this device are the AMOLED display which you can hardly see outside in sunlight unless you crank up the brightness completely. Battery life is OK. I can barely make it thru a day without having to recharge so I typically carry a spare around if I know I'm going to be out for awhile. The build quality.... well Samsung really screwed up there. The glossy plastic body is not only prone to fingerprints but it also is easily scratched and MUST be protected with a case at all times. I really wish Samsung would take a note from HTC's book in terms of build materials. I realize plastic weighs less but I want a device that doesn't feel cheap. Overall though, this is a worthy device and I don't regret purchasing it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

But love the phone. It's absolutely amazing.

No cons.

Not sure what the guy, Mario, is complaining about, but that language is offensive and he doesn't make much sense. Sounds very immature. However, overall I love the phone and it's a spectacular device.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Previously I had the Galaxy Note, Dell Streak 5, Htc Inspire, then Captivate, then Iphone 4, and 3gs and 3g. So I have a lot of experience with smartphones and various android updates. So far it has been awesome. I love the facial recognition unlock, the fluidity and speed as well. And screen size is comfortable. I have found accessories easily and cheap on a certain bidding site, and I feel that the weight is nice even with a case.

Pros:
Netflix
Battery life has been very good so far
OS runs nicely with no issues or freezing so far
Generous memory and first phone that can use up to 64gb sd card
Screen size is perfect
Home button is a nice change that works well
I have had better reception with less dropped calls in my usual spots with decent clarity
Very quick GPS acquisition
Touch Wiz works well, but I have always liked it
Easy set up of Gmail as always
Camera has a very fast shutter speed so you catch what you intend to
Has LED indicator finally!

Cons:
I have not found a con yet.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

drigo1178 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

samsung galaxy III (gs3) review - Day 1

pros: new phone, bigger screen, smoother operation from the other android phones ive used (stock, non-rooted) cheaper than a 4s at sams club

cons: too wide ( ya ya twss) almost uncomfortable to hold and use with one hand. No i dont have small hands, ive been told this a few times ;)

reception sucks - comparing to my previous ip4, a 4s and a blackberry 9900 the gs3 definitely gets a weaker signal.

camera quality, while nice at 8mp, it doesnt do light readings very well, yes i know how to use the app and move it from center weighted to spot, it didnt change a thing.

texting - again while smooth to the most part, again not as intuitive as apples. Sure there are more bells and whistles, but simple things like typing "ya" spits out YAHOO, so i turn predictive text off, and "ya" always gets capitalized to YA...really? and they say its supposed to be learning as you use it...BS!

no visual voicemail - how do people live without this?

internet speeds - my ip4 was faster on the net, the gs3 does process things faster on Wifi(sometimes) but i have clocked them side by side over and over again, and the gs3 just doesnt process wifi as well max @ 11Mb with the ip4 averaging 15Mb. 4g is also a joke, ive known this since i use my bb9900 for a lot of email (work) ive pings it when on 4g and the most ive been able to get is 4Mb, again same place as the ip4 has maxxed out at 6Mb

those are it so far - im going to keep the phone at least 15 days so that i can get used to is and report back with anymore pro's that i can find about the phone.

These are based on things that i use daily, im sure other users will find different outcomes.

but so far ip4s>ip4>gs3=bb9900

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

My recent devices include the Samsung Galaxy Nexus , Rezound , Bionic, Droid X2 and Droid X (on VZW), EVO, EVO 3D and Phonton (Sprint). I carry an iphone 4s for work. The S3 is my personal device
Here's my breakdown:

PROS;
-Screen in crisp and a pleasure to look at. Colors are true and text is amazingly clear.
-Camera takes amazing photos and works like it should, smooth and worry free.
-Calls are clear and loud, no echoes or static.
-Data is crazy fast, processor works great and device maintains nice signal.
-UI works and interface has nice intuitive features which make it the best Android UI on the market.
-Beats Audio is the real deal. The sound from these earbuds is nothing short of amazing.
-The battery life is astounding

CONS; None for phone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Nixoncarmichael submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (ATT):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

In the past I've had a couple of iPhones, including the 4S and 4, as well as the SII Skyrocket. I have to say that this is a top of the line smart phone that can compete with basically any other device out there. It really just depends on your personal taste.

Pros:
FAST LTE Data. (On AT&T's network, I've never used Verizon at this point.) The data is even damn fast on AT&T's fake 4G (HSPA+) network. No complaints on data.

Awesome Camera Quality.

Reasonable call quality.

FLASH.

HUGE and BEAUTIFUL screen. Its big enough to look awesome but just small enough that its not a bother.

CONS:

There are only two things on these Android phones that they can never get right, relative to Apple and these are my two complaints on the SIII:

1. Flimsy body. Every Android phone I've ever used, while good, just feel cheap. I almost feel like if someone farts in my direction the phone will disintegrate.

2. User Interface. Like the SII, I do not like how the interface of the phone is set up, I know that it is completely customizable, but I don't really feel like taking an hour to jack around with screens and position it to my liking.

Thats basically it, if you like Android phones and can put up with my two complaints, then you'll love this phone. Its pretty awesome. If not, then you won't. Anyone who is looking for a suitable alternative to Apple would do well with this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
