skeptiq submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Honestly, this phone is garbage! I have had several phones, and recently purchased a used c343 as a backup, but there were so many issues, I sent it back. Thank goodness I had a great eBay seller. The first c343 he sent the ear speaker would only work if I jammed the phone into the side of my head. I sent that one back, and he sent a different c343. This one worked fine until he battery ran down and I found out the charger slot on the bottom didn't work. The little time I had to use it, the UI was terrible, and the buttons are backward from EVERY other phone I have used.

Pros:
- Size

Cons:
- Everything else!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hoo186 submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I bought this phone back in 2004 when I renewed my service. I've put up with it's little problems for close to two years now, and I'm finally changing the phone...since it's time to renew my service. The problems started almost immediately, but most of it were issues that I thought were either battery related, or cell-service related. Also, I use my cell phone as a business and a home phone...so the phone gets fairly heavy usage.

Pros:
-I like the menu system, and the way you can customize the menu.

-The shortcut button feature is customizable

-This phone is built like a tank, it can stand drops or bumps without any major damage to the face, screen, or the keys.

Cons:
-Within 3 months of buying the phone, I had to replace the charger. It kept giving me "unable to charge" error message, and I had to keep taking the prongs in and out until I would get a "charging" message.

-about a months after that, the phone started to lock up. I would get a "connecting" message, but nothing would happen, and the only way to fix it was to take the battery out. This problem has continued to this day on a once to three times a day basis.

-about three months ago, the ear device started to give out. The phone would ring, but either I could barely hear the person on the other end, or I was completely unable to hear the other person. It started as a fluke problem (1 in a 50 to 60 calls), but it has picked up over time, to the point where I'm unable to hear anything at all without the hands-free headset.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The problems have ranged from the screen advising "No Service" in the middle of town or within eyesight of a tower to many dropped calls, and not being able to hear my caller unless I press the phone very hard to my ear. Additionally, people on the other end can never hear me. I've had it. Tomorrow, it gets tossed and I'll get a new phone--not another Motorola.

Want a cheap phone? Don't get this one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I got it through tracfone. It works fine and has survived two major falls, and best of all i can make my own ringtone on it all i did was go into my tones and pressed button lyk b2 or c3 and they turned out to be notes and after that i was making my own tones :D. It hasn't eaten a charger and i can keep it on for 3 days without charging it for a 2nd time :D. I've had it for about 4 months so far.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I do not use the ear piece on the phone as I have just given up on hearing any one and I used a headset at all times. After 3 months having the phone I still cannot figure out how to do anything with a keylock feature. It can only handle MIDI ringtones. There is no predictive text feature that I can find when writing text messages.

There are three good things about this phone, I didn't pay for it and it will get service where my e815 wont. Also, you can store upwards of 200 sent/received text messages without having to delete but you will have noticable lag in key functions... or maybe that is just normal I am not sure.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Roxxie128 submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I used this phone for over two years (never felt the need to upgrade). The phone lasted well for me. My kids drop it all the time and it seems to take all the abuse quite fine. I do think the hang-up and dial buttons are reversed... but I got used to it. Overall, I have had very little complaints with this phone and am sad to be trading it in for a new one soon.

But this phone requires new chargers quite frequently and I'm tired of spending $20 every 6 months on a new charger. For some reason this phone just eats the prongs of the charger and liquefies them until the phone can only charge with MUCH frustration... thus it's time for a new charger. In the 2 years I've owned this phone we've "eaten" four charges. So I've decided to upgrade.

Unlike many of you I've had no complaints with the screen, speakers, it's NEVER dropped a call, voice mail seems to work perfectly, and I've found the battery life quite adequate. Really this phone has given me two years of perfect service so I was a bit hesitant to buy a new phone.

-Roxxie

-Roxxie

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

C341Sucks submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This C341 Motorola is by far the worst product I have ever used or owned. I own 12 Motorola Hand Held Commercial Radios with no problems.

The other complaint I have is with whoever the brain is that designed the Warranty Repair policy. I phoned Motorola regarding my problems. Was told I had to mail in my phone and wait 4 to 6 weeks for repair, and replacement of my charger. Then was informed there are only two service centers in Oklahoma, one in Enid and one in Weatherford. Both are 120 miles from Tulsa. At the end of the call, the person said that Radio Shack is an authorized repair station?

We were on the phone for nearly an hour. If you add up my time and the warranty person's time per hour, our time exceeded what mailing me a replacment phone would of cost.

Options were to mail in my phone and charger, then wait up to six weeks for repacement or repair.

I owned a NOKIA phone for five years prior to owning this Piece of Junk. Only reason I purchased the Motorola C341, was to use it outside of my Cricket Area. I still have the NOKIA, and will be using it again, while waiting for MOTOROLA to attempt to fix or replace my phone for up to SIX WEEKS!

PROBLEMS WITH THE C341

First the two rubber side strips fell off, must use the same glue as NASA.

The case that is so thin creates a Creaking Noise when you hold the phone.

The wall charger sometimes charges the phone other times you may think it charged but it did not.

Occasionally the back light stays on constantly, until you turn the phone off and back on.

The phone has static in it and it occurs if you hold it in a normal fashion, only way you can get it to stop is to hold the phone at the top by the antenna.

Headset works for about 2 minutes then quits.

Phone will go dead when talking on it, even when it is plugged into the charger.

Set the phone for Vibrate and Ring, works fine, but everytime you plug in the charger it resets the phone to Ring Only???

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mrshomey submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

In-spite of the cute, compact design of the C343a, it has proved to me to be a piece of junk. This phone was offered to me as a "free upgrade" about 1 1/2 years ago by Qwest if I signed an additional 1 yr contract. Since then, I have regretted that decision, & I'm still not sure who I am more dissatisfied with - Qwest, or Motorola. After numerous complaints to Qwest concerning the fact that my phone wasn't ringing, it wasn't showing missed calls, & I wasn't receiving voice-mail notifications, nor the actual voice-mail messages themselves, they tried resetting some things, & finally sent me a replacement phone. To this day, I still have the same problems, even with the replacement. Oh, & also, when set to "vibe & ring", the phone only vibrates. I have complained a few more times to Qwest, & they have offered to either replace this phone (with the same model), which I not so graciously declined, or I can purchase a new phone for an astronomical amount of money & extend my contract again - I guess they aren't offering any more "free upgrades". They also advised me that they had only issued this phone with their service for a very short period of time because of equipment problems & complaints - so I basically got a free piece of junk! My last complaint, or should I say my last act of desperation after so many attempts to resolve the continual problems with this phone, was to Motorola. They talked me through a reset of the initial set-up, which Qwest has done several times as well, & told me if that didn't help, I could send it in to them for $75 plus tax, plus blah, blah, blah, to see if they can fix it, or I can drive about 70 miles to the only Motorola service provider around here to see if they can fix it at no charge, except of course my gas & time, which I have already wasted enough of. So, now I'm down to this; maybe it's not my provider, maybe it really is that Motorola manufactured & distributed.......... a complete piece of junk!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have gone through 5 of them. The earpiece went 3 times, the mouthpiece once, and the battery terminals corroded. The buttons are confusing since they are backwards, and the battery dies almost instantly during a long call. I upgraded to this phone for 10 bucks and now I see why it was so cheap.

Pros: Small and many features
Cons: Everything Else.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jadish4 submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I've onyly had this phone(the c341) for about 6 months and i am buying another one. It just feels cheeply made. And when I text/dial/push anything, the phone cover(origional) squeeks! It drives me nuts! Another thing that bugs me is the text messaging. on my old phone when you wrote a text message you had no interruptions. like when you received a new message, it wouldn't make the message u were typing stop. Now on this phone, when u get a new message it interrupts and stops what ur typing and makes u chose to open it or not. That was the only problem i had when i was buying this phone.

Pros:
-colorful/playful/fun looking phone
-hard keys, not those squishy ones
-menu is good
-ringtones are ok for what you paid for

Cons:
-no date displayed!
-cant receive pic messages
-text thingy
-cheeply light weight faceplate
-faceplates you buy for it change the phone design totally. The c341 has no faceplates that look like it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've had so many problems with it, this is my second c343 phone. The first one I could barely hear on it and I would have to press my ear very hard against it just to hear anything and the battery life sux!! I went to get a replacement, and of course I got another c343 (second phone) and I've had it about 4 months now and once again it's getting hard to hear on it:|. This phone is really terrible and a waste of money.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cellphony submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone was cheap. New plan, new phones. Bad idea. We've had Nokia, Audiovox, and Motorola before. This Moto is the worst yet. Poor battery life, keypad never really locks, poor battery life, hard to open to switch batteries or remove battery to reset the phone when it locks up, poor battery life, and oh, did I mention poor battery life? If you set the backlight to come on at all, it comes on when any key is pressed even if the keypad is locked. Shut it off, and chances are it won't turn back on without a reset. Take it out with a full charge, leave it off all day, and it won't have any power when you turn it back on. Keys are backwards, so the "talk" button is on the right. Motorola cut all the corners they could, and it shows. Three months to trade-in eligibility; I can hardly wait.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

amandabeth86 submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

Pros: Well, this is overall a pretty solid little phone. I've had it for about a year and don't have too many major complaints. The phone is pretty user-friendly and very cute. Good selection of ringtones and customization options. It is pretty durable, as I have dropped it several times and it is still working.

Cons: The keys are tiny and the phone is sometimes slow to respond when dialing a number (sometimes I have the whole number dialed before it shows up on the screen and the keypad makes any noise). I had to have the antenna repaired because of dropped calls but ever since it has been fine. This may seem silly, but I wish the screensavers would stay animated like they are in the picture-viewer (when it is actually your screen saver there is little or no movement unless the phone is charging). Also, the phone has "frozen" two or three times (but that's over the course of a year).

All in all, not horrible, not great. Just definately better than the Audiovox I used to have.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I would get a call and go to answer it and when I did I couldn't hear anything. The caller could hear me but most of the time I couldn't hear them. I've owned many phones and this one is, by far the worst! Today I had to go out and pay full price for a new cell phone otherwise I would be paying my monthly cell bill without having a phone that actually did the job. Very frustrated over this little phone! Many times I really thought about throwing it out my car window, but ofcourse that would have been littering :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Stay Away!.. Keys are small...looks like my two year old's toy phone. Flimsy, poor screen contrast. This hand set may or may not be cheap...but it certainly looks and feels cheap. Replace this phone last month for a Samsung A680...now THAT'S A PHONE!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

freetolio submitted this review of the Motorola C343 / C343a / C341:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I bought this phone in March of 2004.

Pros:
I liked the color screen, bright keypad, loud volume, and customizeable ringers. The reception is good with this phone and comparable to others I've used.

Cons:
One problem is that the menus are severely slow to respond while making a call, and slightly less slow normally. Another problem, the phone gets really hot during a long call.

HUGE CONS:
The problems started in January when the phone began to boot to a lit but black screen. Then the earpiece started to get very quiet. Now the built-in earpiece only works for the first 5 seconds of a conversation. Thank god they include a free hand's free earpiece.

Luckily, I turned it in for repair just two days before the warranty ended. USCC is repairing it for free, but I must say that I am disappointed with this. The rep at the store said that this model suffers from a dead earpiece quite often, and he said that this is unusual since the mic is usually more prone to failure.

Don't get me wrong, the phone is functional. The navigation is intuitive and the phone is nice, but the problems with slow menus, screen blacking, and a dying earpiece make this phone not worth the hassle.

THE GIST:
This phone is okay for an entry level user, and especially if you don't use the phone for long conversations that will burn up the earpiece.

I digress below:
With all that said, I have the means to get a moto V810 for $30 when another one of my family member's contracts is up in a week or so. So I am not hellbent against Motorola or anything. Allthough LG does have some convincing offerings. My GF's LG vx4400 hasn't ever given her a problem, but the reported quality of the RF on the V810 won me over since my college is in the boondocks of WV.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I had this phone for 3 months and it died completely died and took every number i had with it so i had the moto 343 then they gave me the moto 341 and it kept dying the bat life sucked so i got a new bat didnt help. Also it took people 5 times to actually get a hold of me then 3 months after i got that phone it died on me. thats 2 phones in 7 months. Thats not good if they die on you but to have two die on you that means the phones suck

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
