dogg2727 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I switched from the Galaxy Nexus that was nothing but a headache to me and have never looked back. Let me compare the Nexus to the Razr Maxx and show the things I love about this phone:
Battery Life
Maxx - All day, Nexus - 1/4 of a day if lucky

Call Quality
Maxx - Superior clarity and volume, Nexus - Soft & garbled.

External Speaker
Maxx - iPhone-like volume and clarity, Nexus - soft, cheap sounding, useless

Vibration & Notification Light
Maxx - Strong & loud with a light you can see in all lighting conditions, Nexus - useless vibrator + light you can't see in sunlight and too much lag between blinks.

Screen - Nexus wins:
Maxx - Not as good and smaller, Nexus - Big and beautiful.

LTE/3G Radio - No comparsion:
Maxx - Strong signal, doesn't disconnect. Nexus - Good luck, have fun because you will bang your head against a wall. Never saw LTE, flickers between 3G and no signal at all, call drops, data drops. Terrible.

Fit and Finish
Maxx - feels solid, expensive, looks good. Nexus: Cheap plastic with a flimsy back.

Ice Cream Sandwich
Maxx --> Zips around + fast typing + no lag, Nexus - jerky, laggy, thinks too hard when you give it too much input.

Buttons
Maxx - More recessed so you don't accidently press.

Heat
Maxx - Barely warms. Nexus - extreme overheating issues. Plug it in, watch a video clip, or answer a phone call and prepare to burn. Definite overheating issues and you have to put the phone down to let it cool off.

Camera
Kind of like asking who is smarter: Dumb or Dumber. Maxx --> 8MP and produces "ok" pictures but I had the Droid X back in the day before my phone was bricked with their POS OS update and it had the same "ok" camera built-in. I only say it is better because in life things are relative and comparing it to the world's worst camera phone by today's standards in the Nexus...it is therefore "better." Nexus --> Garbage fisher price camera. Pixelated nonsense.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bob1xxx submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Razr Maxx is a great phone. My old phone was the droid x2 a excellent phone nothing really wrong with it but its was old slow 3g. I wanted a upgrade to a 4g phone and in the middle of my contract so no verzion discount . So I found a factory refurbished on Ebay for a great price. The phone was in brand new shape and all I could say is WOW! The 4g even at 3 bars signal strength is almost double the speed of my home DSL LOL!!!! I was able to download and install 10 of my favorite apps in less than 5 minutes!!!! Ive got a old unlimited data plan so for the last week Ive been driving around listening to the Pandora and with the 4g almost every were I go in So Cal it plays with out a hitch.

Pros: great Motorola signal strength in both 4g and the rare areas where only 3g is available . great service never a missed call/text or never a issue to make a call/text. Usual Motorola.

Good size and nice screen not too big ,but not Iphone tiny either nice happy media.

crazy 4g speed

So far great battery life , yeah I'm not a power user get two days easy.

Cons: miss old universal message box and news gathering app the X2 had. And the spacing of the keyboard is taking some getting use too (had the same issue with X2 but in a week or so I'll be flying ). Both are very minor issue.

Over all this is awesome phone I am so glad I got this over Samsung SIII . Reception and battery life are great its a Excellent cell phone and a great media consumption device too. Just get it you'll be happy you did.
P.S. The camera is good but not great. Ive got a Sony nex 5n and a Panasonic PAS if I need great pics. But the many reason why I bought the Rarz Maxx its a awesome 4g cell phone and media consumption device which the Razr Maxx excels at.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This is the 2nd time ive had this issue. Im thinking about the samsung stratsophere, iphone 4s or the lg lucid. Ive also thought about blackberry's, but ive heard horrible reviews about them. The droid razr maxx is a good phone, i just wish smartphones didnt have cons to then.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

waltermax submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I would have given this phone a 5, but there's always room for improvement. I purchased it at full retail (nearly $700) about 2 months ago, and have not had one moment of regret. I have not had to charge this phone during the day since I got it, and I use it a lot for all sorts of things. Works fabulous with Netflix and HDMI to TV. Fortunately I am grandfathered into unlimited data. Everyone uses their phone differently, and I would just like to say that this one does everything I want it to. I cannot think of anything I would change.
Regarding the person who said that the on/off switch is too close to the volume switch and shuts off a phone call, that is an option in the settings. I used to use it, but decided not to as sometimes the screen would turn off and I couldn't get it back on without hitting the on/off switch so I could look something up on the internet while on a phone call.
I haven't had any issue with dropping data as some have mentioned. It is just a sweet piece of electronic heaven. And I can't understand why other phones don't use a larger battery. Used to have the LG Revolution and had an extended battery and an extra regular battery standing by. With this phone I average 5% battery usage per hour and usually have 40-60% left at the end of the day. Thank you Motorola.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

RichardM submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

For battery life alone, this phone stands ahead of all the rest. You can use all the wonderful features without fear of running out of battery. And still, the phone is slim and light.
ALL Androids (and Iphones) should be required to have such a long lasting battery. I wouldn't buy another phone without such a battery.
I used to have to charge my phone every night, and in my car. Now, I can go days without charging--and no need ever in car.
Now--how about everything else? Excellent.
Making phone calls--the call quality as good as a land line just about everywhere I've gone.
The "smart actions" are awesome, and very easy to set up. E.G. I can set up the phone to autom. turn features on or off based on my location and the time of day. For example, I can make the phone silent from 11pm to 6am, but can enter some exception contacts, like my Dad, who can ring me 24/7 in case of emergency.
Big screen, which I can read if outside on sunny days if brightness is turned up on phone.
And the other Android features--free Navigator is as good as any I've seen(voice activated, traffic shown).
Internet works great, even in 3g mode.. Email works flawlessly.
I was hoping the new Galaxy 3 would have such a battery, as it seems pretty cool--but no., it just has a 2100mah battery. Not 3300 like R Maxx.

A word of advice for anyone with a 4g Verizon or Spint phone of any kind. Best thing you can do to prolong battery life is to turn off 4g when not needed, as you would when streaming movies, or downloading big files. I usually use WIFI usually for that, anyway.
You can easily switch from CMDA to 4g LTE as needed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GreysonRX submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I purchased this phone 5/25/12. All I can say so far is I love this phone. I stream pandora (unlimited data plan) over bluetooth in my car at least 6 hours a day. The battery life is outstanding. It should be a requirement in every 4G LTE smartphone that is made nowadays. I used to have the Galaxy Nexus prior to this phone, and while it was the "latest and greatest" I would have to constantly keep it on the car charger. I could not make it a full day on the battery. Even went as far as purchasing the extended battery for it. I gave me probably an additional two hours if that. Not worth the price I paid for it. Can easily make it two days on a charge with the Maxx.

Pros
Battery Life
No Lagging
Easier to grasp than the Nexus
Much louder speaker than the Nexus.
Memory Card slot.

Cons
Screen not as big as the Nexus
Screen is not as beautiful as the Nexus
Heavy
Non removable battery

Not really a pro or con, but I wish it came in various color options as the the regular razr does.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dro1215 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

OK...Just got it and yes, this phone is sweet. Especially the way the screen shuts off like an old school T.V. set. Everybody is ranting and raving about the battery life, the truth is with mine, with extremely heavy internet and talking i only get about 12 hours before the battery hits 25%.

Another MAJOR problem is that the on/off button is located on the side right above the volume button and if you hit that button during a call it automatically ends the call. So if your not extremely careful while in the middle of a call it is really easy yo hit the wrong button by accident, which wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it ALWAYS ends the call.

Also it gets pretty hot if being heavily used for a while.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

davibw submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have bought many smartphones and my previous phone was the galaxy nexus lte, which i really liked and used it for about three months. It was a great phone, beautiful screen and very fast, the design was great. The battery life wasn't good at all, love the ICS. I was considering the Motorola razr when i purchased the nexus, and decided to get the nexus instead. But then the razr maxx came out and i wanted so much to get that phone after all the research i did on the maxx. I finally paid out of pocket the full price for the razr maxx just to have it and so far after three weeks i totally love this phone. This phone is the ultimate. This phone is super fast, the screen is very crisp and clear the design is to me perfect, love the build and feels so solid when you hold it, and the battery life is totally amazing. I can go two days with moderate to some what heavy use and have 40% of battery left. This short review is my opinion only and if you decide to get this phone you will probably have the same review as i do. I have never had such a smartphone as this one, this phone is my dream come true about a smarphone, Motorola came thru on this phone. The screen is tough and the kevlar back is pretty cool, all and all i give this razr maxx a sold five

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sdgmcdon submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I'm an extremely heavy business user that has become accustomed to charging my phone every chance I get so it will get through the day. With the Razr Maxx it hits the charger only once a day when I go to sleep at night; that's it and usually it's still around 30%+ at that time.

I've owned upwards of 20+ smartphones in the last 8+ years since smartphones moved into the realm of "useable". BB's, Palm's, WM's, iPhones, Symbian, Android - Several of each from several manufactures and carries and several 4G phones starting with the HTC Thunderbolt; then Bionic, Razr & now Maxx.

The Razr Maxx IMHO is by far the best smartphone to date, of any type out there.

PROS:
-Battery life is nothing short of AMAZING
-Very stable for an Android phone
-WAY MORE flexible/capable than an iPhone
-Build quality is top notch
-I prefer Motorola's "skin" on Android to
others; just very useable/functional but
probably not as "pretty" as others like
HTC's sense
-Pre-loaded apps like the news reader app,
mail, calendar, etc super functional, no
frills, just works and works VERY WELL
-Size; even with an otterbox on it, great
screen size and battery life yet more than
manageable size
-Very fast and responsive
-Motocast! Awesome! Syncs music/movies etc
just like iPhone/iTunes but no Apple's
needed (not even iTunes) plus I can get
whatever I need from my desktop or server
on my phone (and xyboard tablet) from
anywhere I'm at.
-Ice Cream Sandwich on it tomorrow!
-Durable as can be...I've literally bounced
this thing on the driveway a few
times...can't even tell where it hit when I
pick it up - Otterbox is largely
responsible, but I've had other phones take
less and still break in an otterbox

CONS:
-Camera; iPhone is way better - BUT, I didn't
get it for the camera, I have a real camera
for that
-4G / data connection drops regularly. I
won't ding the phone for this though as
every 4g phone I've had/tried has the same
problem not just Mot's; a network thing?

GET IT!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

My recent devices include the Samsung Galaxy Nexus , Rezound , Bionic, Droid X2 and Droid X (on VZW), EVO, EVO 3D and Phonton (Sprint). I carry an iphone 4s for work Razr a few and loved the screen, HOWEVER it software does allow you to grow with the device
Here's my breakdown:

PROS;
-Screen in crisp and a pleasure to look at. Colors are true and text is amazingly clear.
-Camera takes amazing photos and works like it should, smooth and worry free.
-Calls are clear and loud, no echoes or static.
-Data is crazy fast, processor works great and device maintains nice signal.
-UI works and interface has nice intuitive features which make it the best Android UI on the market.
-Beats Audio is the real deal. The sound from these earbuds is nothing short of amazing.
-The battery life is astounding

CONS; these are minor and by no means a deal breaker
- ICS release late

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

straight to voicemail submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I bought this verizon phone for my wife. So, I don't use it day and day out.
So, here goes. The android interface that moto designed is way cool. Very intuitive. Very light weight. Big screen.
Phone audio in and out is very good. She calls me on speaker phone mode with it on her lap while she drives. Sounds very good to her and I. Noise canceling appears to be very effective. I can tell she is in the car but not like other phones in the past. Much less on speaker!!

I am very concerned for her safety sometimes. I want the battery to be reliable so far so good. The four day battery life is not checking email at all. Only some facebook usage, occasional web surfing, text and talk.

Only one hiccup so far. The phone locked up after getting a full charge. No screen activity. Nada. The soft reset worked nicely. Hold Power and Volume down for 10 - 15 secs. Rear cover does not separate from the phone. The soft reset exists for that reason. Battery access may destroy the cover.
Memory and sim located in a side hatch. I can see the flip down cover side hatch getting destroyed in the future.

We both complained about moto batteries for years. We both liked moto phones but we ditched them because of battery failure.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I was worried about the battery life but it is much better than the HTC phones I previously owned.

Pros
1. Good battery life
2. Very fast and responsive
3. Looks great

Cons
1. Price
2. Sometimes the sound quality of calls is not good

Also I am not able to find a good case for this phone. I tried this case but it is not what I want. The phone and service have exceeded my expectations.

PROs
1. No connection problems or dropped calls.
2. Excellent voice quality.
3. Very fast data downloads.
4. Phone operation is fast and smooth.
5. Web performance makes this phone fun to use.
6.

RTAV submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone going on 2 weeks now. First of all, I am very very happy with this phone. I have owned multiple droid based phones and this one tops the cake. The most recent phone I had was the Samsung Epic 4g(non-Touch) and so far this phone out does it on everything except for the screen quality. Granted the epic has, IMO, the best screen on the market. It is not disappointing however. I live in an area that is known to have dead zones everywhere with almost all carriers. This phone has yet to loose signal and has full service just about everywhere. The only draw back to this phone that I have found as of yet, is the sound output via the headphone jack. I do like to listen to music on my way home from work or even at my desk. I do notice that the sound quality seems to be a little more distorted vs the other phones I have had. It isn't a huge issue but the critical ear will pick it up. The battery life on this phone is unstoppable. I am able to start my day fully charged and even after 6-10 hours of steaming music I still have 70% battery left. The screen response and going between apps is flawless, no lag.

Pros-
Battery
Screen Size
Overall phone size
Performance of phone

Cons-
Audio via headphone jack a little distorted

In short I would recommend this phone to anyone. Your not going to be disappointed with this phone. I have yet to have issues with this phone even the fact that the battery cannot be removed, the phone has not locked up once. I was worried about this when buying the phone because every other droid based phone I have had locked up a lot.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Motorola is telling me that the brand new phone needs to be sent in for repair!!!! 700$ three weeks ago and a number of phones later I'm not happy. Motorola knows this is a problem because they tried to fix with the software update in early Feb. running android 2.3.6 now

pros: great battery, very cool phone, it is a good fit for a heavy user !

cons: locks up frequently, the screen is a bit low in quality ,cant take out battery to reset

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kurosawa submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

UPDATE: I've dropped this phone to the asphalt or concrete from waist height SIX TIMES since purchase and it's working GREAT, face down because the paint is chipped all around the bezel, many more times indoors, glass perfect.

I upgraded to this 3 months after I upgraded to a Droid 3 to which I added a 3500mah battery. Being an old school keyboarder, I was worried about the accuracy of Swype, but a side-by-side comparo of 3G with 4GLTE pushed me over the edge.

I'm just as fast with Swype as I was on the Droid 3's keyboard, much faster than on the standard phone keypad. After I get my dictionary beefed up, I'll be faster still.

These old eyes needed a bigger screen. The numbers say I only moved up from 4 inches to 4.3, but this is way bigger, brighter and sharper than the Droid 3.

In basic phone function (I'm picky about reception and voice quality), it's the best phone I've owned (Verizon). It's definitely the smartest smart phone I've had.

After two major system updates, the battery isn't lasting 20 hours any more, but it still gets me through the day. Gingerbread rocked for power conservation. With no usable improvements, ICS was a downgrade, and JB, even worse. However, some day they'll write one that's bloated enough to make the phone useless.

This is a flat amazing Facebooking device. My page is all about kid pix, and whatever I can't do with the built-in camera, PicSay Pro can fix (the boost function is terrific at bringing faces out of the shadows).

I bought the QuickOffice license and the phone came with Netflix, so pretty much anything my old desktop can do, this can do.

Rarely, for no reason I can figure out, the phone has to be powered down, the SIM and SD cards have to be popped out and back in again, and the phone powered up.

Of course something better will come out within the quarter. It always does. But I'm not worried that this phone will be in any sense superseded by another.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

klinger1108 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

Let me start off by saying I really wanted to love this phone. I've had them all and after reading dozens of reviews I bought one at full price. That's how much I wanted this thing. But after 48 hours with it I will be returning it and going back to my LG Spectrum. Here's how I see it:

PROS:
-great battery life
-good UI and features
-design
-speed

CONS:
-connectivity hit and miss
-screen resolution is mediocre
-camera is sub par
-voice calls just so-so
-power and volume keys a tad too small (especially with a case on it).

During the 48 hrs I've been using this phone I've had times where I've had no data, the home screen app has force closed many times which locked me out of the home screen, phone calls have had a nasty echo and the phone has shown just a black screen, causing me to power off then on again. I've experienced these connectivity issues before with the bionic and original razr. I truly believe moto has lost a customer, as they're phones have been less then impressive as of late. IMO the Spectrum or Rezound are far better choices. In both cases the spectrum and rezound have no connectivity issues, have far better voice calls and cleaner, clearer displays and cameras. While I liked the smart actions, motoprint and motocast they're not enough to justify me keeping this device.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I purchased a Galaxy nexus the day it came out and was very disappointed with the signal strength. While I am not going to sit here and knock that phone, I will say that this thing is Way better. The only thing it had better was the screen and ICS.

PROS:

BATTERY LIFE
SIGNAL STRENGTH
HDMI OUTPUT
SMART ACTIONS
CAMERA

CONS:

SCREEN (BUT NOT REALLY, JUST NOT AS GOOD AS THE NEXUS)
INABILITY TO SET UP ICLOUD LIKE I WAS ABLE TO WITH THE NEXUS (HOPING ICS UPDATE WILL FIX THAT)
CAMERA (YES THERE ARE CONS TO IT TO)

This is my 5th VZW phone and I have to say that it is by far the best. I am extremely excited about it. If you want to load up a 1/2 dozen email accounts, facebook and other apps that have "push" notifications, then look no further. GET THIS PHONE!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
