D_Town submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have had mine for about 2 years. I had no problems with it until I dropped it several times this past summer.

I don't know why someone said you can not send pics to email. You can. I did it several times. Now people can hear me but I can not hear them.

Also, my bluetooth headset worked very well. People did not know I was using one. I used a Cardo Scala headset that was about 40 bucks.

Cons: Internet not the fastest in the world.

Sooo. I have to buy another phone, but this one lasted me two years.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Kiserai submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Yes, it's a great phone, but it does have its share of issues.

Pros:
1. Good looking, sturdy feeling phone.
2. Bluetooth is nice, although I mostly use it for "borrowing" my friends ringtones by synching our phones.
3. High quality screen and camera are nice as well.
4. MP3 ringtones rock, although they do take up a lot of space. Expandable memory would be nice, but not a big deal.
5. Gets good reception, but not as good as my old Nokia 3595 (which got the best reception of any phone I've ever owned).
6. Sound quality through the earpiece is great, although it is a little quiet sometimes. Most of the time it's not an issue though.
7. Easy to use SMS interface (iTap is very, very cool and can save you a lot of time if you take the time to learn it).

Cons:
1. Phonebook could definitely use some work (being forced to view SIM AND Phone memory is a pain--let us choose to view one or the other if we want). I ended up having to delete the phonebook off my SIM after I copied it to the phone so that all the features would work right and I would still have a cleaned up phonebook.
2. MMS won't work with Cingular. I got an unlocked AT&T version of the phone, and the AT&T phone won't communicate with the Cingular MMS network. SMS and GPRS are easy to set up (if you have the time and the know-how) but for MMS, it's like trying to type Japanese with a Chinese keyboard. But since I don't really use MMS, not a big deal.

This is a great phone and worth buying if you can find it for about $150.00, like I did.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I was able to get an unlocked one that works on the t-mobile network. You do have to get there INTERNET settings to have that work.

The quality of the phone is good and it is little heavier than the v300 which i had before and had many problems with it.

The blue-tooth feature is excellent in and a lifesaver especially during the busy traffic days.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

After using it for almost a month, I switched to the V505 and was very disappointed. The voice quality is much inferior to the V600.

Baronialjester submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Hey my wife and I really like these phones/ Previously we had a Nokia 2260 which was a pain in the butt because although it was simple to use, all the accessories needed for it were twice the price because of Nokia's three ring system of 2.5mm connections. This unit is not only a standard 2.5mm connection but the Bluetooth used in Conjunction with our Jabra Freespeak 250's makes a great combination. It automatically does the voicedialing option when hitting the headset button on the earpiece so dialing anyone is a snap. Sound quality on the cellphone itself is wonderful and the speakerphone is great. Should you need more Speakerphone capability, you can get the Jabra SP100 Speakerphone which works with the phone through it's Bluetooth capability.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

arouth submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I had the Motorola v600 and like many people had some problems with it. I was very wary of buying another Motorola phone, however after reading tons of glowing reviews I decided to give it a shot.

This is the best cell phone that i've ever had. It has great reception, looks good, and bluetooth works pretty good. I also really like the rubber exterior which is stylish and durable.

My main gripe is that the phone book is not as advanced as some of the competition. However thats fairly minor.

Pros:
1. Great reception
2. Good looks.
3. Feels very well made
4. Customization

Cons
1. Motorola needs to overhall their phonebook.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tomjikyun submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

The Motorola v505 has excellent features.

The handset is stylish yet sporty and has a good feel to it, in part because of the ergonomic design and blue rubberized covering bordering the front and covering the back (the rubberized covering is also great for preventing scratches and not sliding around on slick surfaces like leather car seats). The handset fits my hand well and the keypad feels great. The handset just feels good.

The screen is large and has the clearest resolution of any I've seen. The camera is equally excellent and it takes great pictures.

Call quality is excellent and the speakerphone makes this handset very versatile. This phone is also Bluetooth enabled, but I have yet to try this feature.

On the down side, the phone is a little bulky and heavy for my liking. I'm used to ultralight handsets such as the Samsung x426 or LG4015, but the many excellent features of this phone and the ability to leave the handset in a backpack or briefcase while using Bluetooth more than compensate for the inconvenience.

Also, the handset rings through the speakerphone, which is located on the back of the handset. Thus, if your phone is left face up on a bed or similar surface, the ringer may be muffled and you may miss your call. Just make sure you leave it face down or on its side.

Finally, the handset also uses the Motorola "chip" style port for charging (unlike the V180 and V220), which is notorious for having problems over time if the user is not careful.

Overall, the phone is a real bargain. It looks great and does everything well. If you don't mind the size and heft, you really can't go wrong with this phone. It is fully-loaded and is an excellent value being Bluetooth enabled.

I own several phones including the Motorola v180, Samsung x426, LG4015, and the LG4020, and this is the one I always find myself using.

The V551 for Cingular is essentially the same phone with slightly different exterior styling.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

meow submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

All I have to say is that I love, love, love this phone! I've never had a Motorola before (I was influenced by others dissatisfaction with Motorolas) and just decided to try it. I'm so glad I got it...
*Camera: Great! Takes very clear pictures... I do agree with another poster though, zooming in to object does not keep picture clear though
*Sound: like others, no one can tell I'm on a cell until I mention it
*Ring Volume: Highest volume is very loud and can definitely be heard over other noises
*Ring Tones: not too fond of the many ring tones already available on phone, but I love the option of downloading MP3 tones
*Display: screen is not as big as my old phone, but big enough so that pictures/wallpaper looks good
*External Display: I like the display lighting up blue, looks nice (all I have about that! lol)
*Look/weight: It is a bit heavier than other flips, but doesn't bother me any. I'd like to be able to possibly change the case/cover, but not something I need.

Overall: 5 Stars! I highly recommend this phone =)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

stanm submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

We just received two Mot V505's a couple of days ago. (FREE from cellularchoices.net) and switched carriers from TMobile to ATTW.
Previous phones were Nokia 3595's.
So far we love the phones and ATTW service (plus the price of the phones and the ATTW service plan was the best).
Here's my/our review:
*We just wanted a PHONE, not a "techno device".
*Pro's:
+Phone is very attractive.
+Well built.
+Great internal screen size and resolution.
+EXT display is adequate size and info displayed is also adequate. Doesn't seem so fragile I'm afraid of breaking EXT display.
+RF/reception has been great in rural and metro areas. Phone switched from ATTW to Cingluar seamlessly.
+Call clarity has been great for "sender" and "receiver" (receiving party commented on quality of sound!).
+Ring volumes are loud, ring settings are various and acceptable.
+Battery life seems fine, even with playing with the phones a lot the first couple of days (entering numbers in phone book, personalizing the phone, etc.). We recharge every night anyway, doesn't seem to be an issue.
+The phone is EASY to use (my wife is "techno adverse ", doesn't want to be bothered with a lot of geeky stuff)she LOVES the phone! She also doesn't like to put on her reading glasses much, and she LOVES the display!
+Keyboard is large/good spacing and easy to use.
+Have experienced no phone or service malfunctions.
Have not, may not ever use: mmode, games, bluetooth, data functions, may use the camera in the future.
SUMMARY: We simply wanted good reliable VOICE phone which was easy to use, a flip phone, had good INT/EXT displays, good price (free isn't bad!), reliable signal strength, and a good shared calling plan.
I believe we found all of that with the V505 and ATTW we got 900 shared mins and nights starting a 7:00pm plus free l/d, mobile to mobile (including ATTW & Cingular customers), roaming.
I relied heavily on reviews of this and other mfgrs/makes/models, thanks for Phonescoop and others reviews!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Motorola never really had good phonebooks anyway.

The V505 Phone is very, very good phone. No complaints.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cedmack11 submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Just picked this phone up today and already I love it! I returned a couple of Samsung E316's which were horrible. Check the Samsung page for my review on that phone. Anyway, the reception is excellent! Phone changes from AT&T's towers to Cingular"s towers with ease. I was on a call for 50 minutes while driving and I only experience garbled/choppy audio maybe twice. Feels real solid and well built. My number priority in choosing a phone is reception. I could care less about bluetooth and all that.

PROS:
+ Reception
+ Build quality
+ Audio clarity

CONS:
- No earpiece or carry holster included

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Hands down the best I've ever experienced. After that, the touchpad comes in second affording the user a great layout and ample space per key for ease of use. The color screen is nice but my main concerns with a phone are how well it performs the daily tasks I need so I really don't get that excited this aspect.

The SIM chip holder on this phone is puzzling. What's with the WW2 style sliding metal clip? Moto should use the plastic frame SIM holders like Nokia. The menus are ok although they become confusing at variuos points. The phone book is another area of disappointment for me because on my Nokia, you have one phone book listing per person that contains all their different phone numbers and contact info rather than having one listing for for their home number and another for their cell phone etc as the V505 has. The speakerphone is nice but it will only allow you to engage it after the person you are calling has answered whereas the Nokia 6800 allows you to put a call on speaker immediately after dialing the call. The speakerphone is important for me so this was disappointing. Lastly, the user manual is atrocious. For instance, it talks about about 1 touch dialing and speed dialing. What it doesn't make clear is that for each phone book listing, the speed dial field is where you need to program the 1 touch dialing feature. In other words, a one touch dialing field doesn't exist in this phone but you wouldnt know it from the manual.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Deftony submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

Where do I start? The V500 has its positive and negative sides. The absolute number 1 problem with the v500 has to be the bluetooth... its very very rubbish! Mine never connects with any kind of bluetooth device, others can connect with me but only on rare occassions.

The other real beef I have with this phone is the screen. Yes its nice and good res, but it too is unreliable. Mine malfunctioned and had to be sent off to Motorola to be fixed... The phone does have some positive points though, such as being able to use a USB data cable, the camera, and the memory isnt bad.

All in all, the V500 would be good for a more novice phone-user, one that isnt intending on using things such s bluetooth, and doesnt mind its unreliability in favour of the other features.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I had the samsung x426 and was considering getting the samsung e316 but I wanted to try a different model( the samsung broke on me 1 to many times) I made the best choice. the speaker phone is great the real tones sound great the screen is big and very clear. I have attws (cingular) GSM service and I have not had one dropped or unclear call yet. Motorola has made the antenna removable ( so you can screw it off) so I dont have to worry about the antenna issues that I had with my old V60i.Its a heavier phone and does not seem easily breakable. Overall I love the phone. I had to pay a little more then I wanted to but it was well worth it. GET THIS PHONE!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GadgetGirl submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

After eight warranty exchanges on my Motorola T-720 the past year (*scream*), I'm hoping for better luck with this model. So far, I love the speakerphone feature and the reception is much better.

The camera has a 4x zoom--impressive for a camera phone. The voice-dial feature worked wonderfully.

The battery charging time seems longer than with the other Motorola models I've owned. Perhaps because it's still a fairly new battery?

I'm keeping fingers crossed that my days spent talking to AT&T warranty exchange is over! I'll post again in a few weeks with an update.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Jersian submitted this review of the Motorola V500 / V525 / V505:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

When I switched to AT&T, I originally purchased the V220. I didn't like it at all. The display was too small, fonts too large and the LCD was too grainy. Also, may of the features I had grown to love on my Verizon T720 were missing.

I looked at the V505 and discovered that not only did it do almost all of it what my T720 did, it did much more. It is a solid feeling phone with the same interface as most Motorolas so it was easy for me to get around the menu selections.

I wanted a camera phone and alarm clock in addition to the featurs I had on my T720. They were my preferences. I wish this had an M3 player for songs, but if that is all I am missing, so be it.

With an optional Bluetooth adaptor (Best Buy $40.00), I was able to upload photos for wallpaper and edited mp3's to use as ringtones. No more buying ring tones!

After getting Mobile Phonetools to work, I also enjoy the fact that I can download my address book and calendar to my computer as a back-up.

Overall, this is a great phone. There are some shortcomings with AT&T, but I am hoping for some improvements once the AT&T/Cingular merger is complete. I like this phone so much however that I am willing to overlook those shortcomings.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
