anni77777 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

The large screen is nice and bright, resolution is good. I see a lot of people complain about the 5MP camera, which in all reality doesnt really shoot worse images than an 8MP. Only if you blow them up larger than an 8x10 will you see a difference. Im sure thats part of the reason why Samsung didnt put an 8MP camera on here. The Verizon LTE internet is amazingly fast, considering I ported to an employee Verizon line from an Employee Sprint line! The difference is impeccable!! Although the network and data itself if very fast, I have had several issues with apps "forcing close" such as Pandora and even the camera. I switched from the Galaxy S II from Sprint and although the internet and network wasnt as good, the phone was a little better I.M.H.O

Pros: large screen
form fitting design
good sound
ICS woo woo woo all the rage (not really lol)

Cons:
battery life
apps forcing close
not the best texting intergration
was expecting a 16MP camera lol but 5 is ok
camera editing in-phone features a little tricky to use

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

johnko submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I loved this phone when I first saw it, and Android 4.0 is great. I have really wanted to love this phone, and in some ways I do. But overall, I am rather disappointed by it. I do not write a lot of reviews, but my favorite to read are those that keep it simple with pros, cons and some explanation. So that is what I am going to do... The good first.
++
+Android 4.0 ICS
+++Ability to disable Verizon bloatware (pretty big deal)
+++Multi-color notification light (this was one of the biggest selling features of this phone for me)
+++Almost zero shudder lag for the camera
+++Bright, clear screen (although you can not run it at full brightness or it will be dead by noon)
+++Fairly fast on 4G
+++Location of on/off button

OK... now on to the disappointing part...

---Battery life. (I bought the "extended" battery from Verizon about a week after getting the phone. It was a marginal increase at best and I still can't make it from 8:30AM to 10:00PM without recharging. This is with very light, to sometimes moderate use with NO GPS, WiFi and about average about 3 hours with bluetooth turned on and the screen at 40% brightness. Horrible.)
---Speaker/ringer is simply terrible. (it doesn't get loud enough and when it is put up to max, it is impossible to use because the sound is so distorted).
---The vibrate is the worst of any phone I have had. (I've missed three calls in a row once while it was on vibrate in my front pocket)
---Cell reception- both 3&4G are not as good as Motorola and a few other phones.
---I don't have any crazy apps installed, mostly basic stuff yet I still have freezing and restarting issues.
---The camera. (yes, I realize megapixles are not everything, but for a premium phone, it should have a better sensor)
---No SD card slot, video out, or any other ports.

Overall, it is not a terrible phone, just not what I would expect from an Android OS flagship. I wish I went with the RAZR Maxx

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chadbordes submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I was debating going back to the iphone after having the droid charge. The phone was incredibly fast but had issues with it powering off all the time.

I went back and forth between the iphone for simplicity sake or upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus. I have to say the Verizon salesperson was HORRIBLE at promoting products (fyi point out the bonus' of your phones, not the shortcomings). I left the store with a bad taste in my mouth and was going to stick with the charge.

I did some more research and decided to bite the bullet and shell out some $300 for a new phone. I can tell you that my decision was not a bad one. I have had the phone for a week and I really feel that Samsung nailed it with this phone (great job to google for the ICS) I love the customization factor on this phone...this truly is my phone.

The speed is fantastic switching between apps and yes it is a redesigned UI but you will get used to it quickly. The camera is fast, battery life is decent and I love the notification feature, as someone else mentioned, that lets me know I have a message waiting without having to pick up my phone all the time.

I bought the spare battery charger and an extended battery. I have no problem making it through the day on a single charge.

2 cons to the phone which in my opinion are minor
1. Camera-5.0 megapixel not 8...still very clear photos
2. Screen resolution-seems a bit washed out. Not as vibrant as my charge.

I love ICS and appreciate how fast this phone is. I will say this phone gives iphone a good run for the money. It will be interesting to see what iphone does for next gen.

Have a great day.
chadbordes@gmail.com

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

PhoneFanatic1956 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I trade phones at least twice a year and sometimes more in the never ending search for the perfect phone. The Galaxy Nexus is closer than any I have found to this point but it still has a few irritating flaws.

PROs:
- Large, HD screen
- Ice Cream Sandwich OS
- Extremely fast shutter speed on camera
- ICS
- Fluent multi-tasking
- Battery (I easily get 12 hours with moderate use)
- Screen looks great
- Nice design (fits well in hand)
- Fast and responsive
- Google will update the Nexus handsets first
- TI Omap 4460 dual core processor
- Super Amoled 720 display
- 32 gigs of storage 1 gig of memory
- Samsung quality

CONs:
- No separate HDMI port
- Limited accessories for now
- Some apps have compatibility issues(for now)
- No sd card slot
- Back camera is only 5.0 megapixels and front is only 1.3 megapixels
- Screen hard, if not impossible, to read in outside light
- Ringtone volume is extremely low with any of the ringtones currently standard on the phone
- Inability to add ringtones

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

gentner8 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I am giving this phone a rating of 4 because it is still a 4g LTE phone with some issues.

Pros:
Huge beautiful screen with high resolution. It ranks up there with the retina display.

The standard battery has impressed me. I use the phone often, but Im not a junkie that has to have it in my hand all the time. I get plenty of power out of it with time to spare. I usually upgrade to an extended battery. Dont feel the need to with this one.

ICS is sweet. I occasionally have a glitch from weatherbug, but its not a major concern. Ulike other phones, I love being able to uninstall the garbage verizon feels we need on the phone.

The ability to shut down running programs easily without and added task killer program.

RECEPTION: This will fall under both categories. Locally, I do not have 4G, so I have found it works great when I keep the phone in 3G mode. Just yesterday, I drove down a road that I have never been able to keep a call connected all the way through, and this phone did not skip a beat. Yes, the signal does not show to be as strong in bars or DB's, but real world it works just as good as anything I have ever used. ( I buy 3-4 phones a year FYI)
CONS:
ICS did away with the ability to select all and delete all emails easily. I have to select them individually like the iphone.

4G to 3G hand-off this is still a problem, but I think all the 4G phones have issues. I guess it is the growing pains of the next level. It will still drop connection once in awhile, but no where near the frequency of the Bionic it replaced.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ekjworld submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I have had several android devices, my first one being the Nexus One by HTC. Although I am an android user, I will not be one sided like iphone users. This phone was a complete disappointment. Not just the phone, but the service provider for the LTE version. I ordered two of the Galaxy Nexus phones, and stay directly behind the service providers store. I was unable to get signal strength or 4g speeds on either device. After several days on the phone with the service provider and no fix. I decided to send them back and stay with my current provider. I ordered two Samsung Galaxy S II in white, and I am very pleased.

Pros: ICS

Con: Battery, no Facebook Contact sync, a lag time that is very noticeable when the device is turned to its side, etc.

Although, everyone likes different things these were some things that were important to me. If your anything like me, you will still try it out for yourself. I am just trying to help save you money, because even if you send it back you are responsible for the activation fees. Although, I had one bad experience, I will not be running to any of the iphones period. This review is for true android users, and not those stuck in the middle.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Camera is 5mp however with the resolution of the screen it is a non issue. For everyone talking about SD card suport do research before you buy the phone, duh. The phone has 32GB built in and wireless storage capability rendering that a non issue as well. My battery last me 11-12 hours consistently. The only issue I have is the fact that all apps are not compatible with ICS.....THAT'S IT. Other than that it owuld be a 5 in my books. Stock Android >>>>>

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dgads00 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I had the nexus for 10 days. I truly loved this phone. I've had many 4G phones like the Charge, Thunderbolt, and the Bionic. I tried to hang on to the Nexus but the signal strength was a little week. I even ignored the signal bar and tested it against other phones like the Bionic, Thunderbolt, and the Rezound. The Nexus buffered during video play while all the other phones played through. Yes, I played HQ vs HQ and etc. The Nexus failed while loading INTERNET pages also. I loved the phone. I didn't have a battery life problem once I stopped playing on it all day and set the Widgets and etc. Up properly. I just couldn't handle the embarrassment from my friends laughing at my slow latest and greatest. Went back to the Bionic for now. Oh, I test the phone in 3g and 4g. Must be the built in antenna.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Yes the display is so crisp and beautiful, totally full of colors, the phone is so fast it is unbelievable, i am totally amazed. I researched for over two weeks and finally came down to two phones, the Motorola razr and the Galaxy nexus LTE. I went with the nexus for the reason of the 4.0 ICS. the build of the phone, the calling quality is good, reception is good, everthing about this phone is good, this is my opinion. I am totally satisfied, so glad i have this phone. This phone is super fast...
Cons, none at all.. I give this phone a solid 5

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

angelfire714 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I ordered this phone the day it was released and paid for the overnight shipping so that I would have the weekend to play with the phone and set it up the way I wanted it. The signal was terrible. In my home (with my Motorola Droid) I would normally get -88 dbm or better. With this phone the best it got was -100 dbm. At my office, I was getting -120 dbm. Needless to say, no calls in or out. No data either.

Another major issue I had was with the size of the phone. Holding it in portrait mode wasn't the most comfortable but the bigger problem occured while holding the phone in landscape mode. While attempting to text, it was torture to stretch my thumbs across the screen to the middle in order to capture the letters. Might have been worse for me since I have bilateral carpal tunnel.

Battery life was terrible but you come to expect that with a smartphone. Additionally, there isn't SD card support.

I traded in the phone the first chance I had (two days later) for the HTC Rhyme and I couldn't be happier.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

crsa3000 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I would rate this phone a 5 but I can't. I love the software. ICS and pure google updates are a huge awesome bonus. The screen, and the LTE (when available) make this phone awesome.

My problem is with the phone's signal strength. Yes I know that VZW is going to pump out an update, but I truly can say that I think that this device has a hardware problem, and don't see a software fix doing much.

I can deal with the fact that the LTE network is still being built in my community (Albuquerque) so the spotty coverage with that is understandable. I cannot deal with the fact that this phone has a problem with the audio during calls. My problem is that while I'm in a call, all of a sudden the person on the other end stops receiving clear audio from me. Sometimes they just get silence (like if I muted my phone) and others they hear a bunch of scrambled sounds.

The calls are made in the same places of my previous VZW phones (home/work/driving). I have never had these problems prior to this phone. I have had 3 VZW phones prior to this and have been a loyal customer since 2004.

I will say that VZW customer service has been very accommodating during the time I had this phone. I have complained a bunch of times and the actually have replaced my device 2 times since December 16th making this new one my 3rd. If this one experiences the same problem, they will replace it (I'm sure for a fee but I hope not).

I'd list all pros and cons for this device, but you can find that on the other reviews for this device on this forum so I won't . I agree with all the pros. This phone is truly Awesome, but if I can't make a call that is clear, then I can't keep going down this route. We must remember that as smart as a phone is, it must be a phone first. So far this one has not been one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

uaiadmin submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for over 2 weeks, and I must say that I really like this phone - nice form factor (feels much smaller than my previous Bionic), ICS is fast and smooth, great screen, no issues with battery life. However, the signal strength issues were a deal-breaker for me. Verizon's signal is fairly weak when I'm sitting in my office, so when I would receive a call, I would have to bolt out of my office and run to a different part of the building in order to keep the signal. The Bionic was much better at keeping the signal while still in my office. Also, the picture quality from the camera is horrendous! This wasn't a deal-breaker (if I want a good pic, I'll use a real camera), but I would expect better from a smartphone of this caliber.

PROS:
Form factor
Gorgeous screen (although auto-brightness is too dark)
ICS
Nearly zero shutter lag on camera

NEUTRAL:
Battery life - no better or worse than other 4G phones I've seen

CONS:
Signal strength issues
Camera takes lousy pictures

I'm aware that a fix for the signal strength issues is in the works, but didn't want to take a chance and wait for that. I've returned it for a Droid Razr.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

If you want a preloaded phone with tons of apps that make the phone out of the box ready or you don't truly love android, I might recommend the RAZR. I guess the way I could best explain it is if I were to recommend a phone to my grandma, I might recommend an iPhone, for my father or older siblings maybe a RAZR, and for me and my friends who love technology certainly the Galaxy Nexus.

PROs:
- Large, HD screen
- Ice Cream Sandwich OS
- Extremely fast shutter speed on camera

CONs:
- No separate HDMI port

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

klinger1108 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I got this phone on release date, dec 15, and have been pretty happy with the overall expirence. I've read a lot of reviews about this phone from people who have only played with it in the store or kept it less then 24 hrs. You shouldn't write a review until you've had it at least a week, that way you can get use to the OS, the battery has time to charge properly and you use all the features the phone has to offer. Here's my breakdown:
PROS-
*screen is responsive and crisp
*UI is a nice improvment and very intuitive
*phone calls are loud and clear
*processor works fast, multi tasking is a breeze
*camera (while not perfect) has nice features and offers lots of options
*extended battery makes it easy to get 18 hrs without making your phone a brick.
*power and volume controls are easy to access
*FINALLY they got it right!! A charging port on the bottom of the phone, where they all should be.

CONS-
*no sd card. while not a deal breaker, its much easy to plug one in and have all your pics, music, videos etc right away.
*no HDMI out port
*battery door is a joke
*signal seems weaker but I have yet to not connect to data or phone based only on bars.
*4g is difficult indoors, but I've expirenced that with the razr, rezound, bionic and charge.
*speaker phone is just ok
Overall I'm enjoying this phone and find it to me nearly perfect inspite of some small cons. VZW's 4g has been up and down lately, forcing me to use 3g a lot. Those who rate this phone low have obviously either not given it a chance or have never owned it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

HelloMotto submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (LTE):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I wanted so much to love this phone.

PROS:
=======
1. Picture and video quality is sharp and colors are warm and rich.
2. Phone is very fast and responsive with no lag navigating between screens and applications; pinch to zoom is fluid.
3. Screen size is awesome for viewing videos, movies, picture, etc.
4. Camera is fast with no lag.

CONS:
=======
1. Can’t keep 4g signal and takes to long for data to reconnect when falling back to 3g. Only getting 1 or 2 bars but my wife’s Droid-X sitting right beside it has 4 bars.
2. Phone feels lightweight and cheap in hand as if I am holding a slice of toast. The battery cover is a flexible plastic snap-on that feels like it is about to snap each time you remove it.
3. Battery life is horrific even considering the overhead for 4g.
4. Voice calls had a slight "tinny" sound as if the caller was using auto-tune.
5. Screen is rather dim, even on highest setting.
6. Internal and external speaker are rather low even on highest setting.

SUMMARY:
=======
Ice Cream Sandwich is clean and polished but it is boring. I thought I wanted the "pure Google experience" but it’s kinda like a cheese pizza without sauce. The sauce is what makes the pizza. I never thought I would miss Motoblur or HTC Sense. I also feel like I am performing additional steps to accomplish task that only took 1 step in Gingerbread. I wanted so much to love this phone but the CONS were far too overwhelming for me to keep the Galaxy Nexus. I returned it for a HTC Rezound, which is the current heavyweight at Verizon, and I am happy. Google should have gone with Motorola for the Nexus.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
