reobrien41 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I have had my Treo 600 since Dec 2004. It has worked very well until 2 weeks ago. I get a "no service" and dropped calls all the time now, even with 3 to 4 bars of signal strength. After a dozen calls to Sprint I still had not solved the problem until I spoke with a friend who has the same phone. He was having the same issue at the same time as me. The fix was simple. Call Sprint and ask for a update to the PRL Rev number(Preferred Roaming List). This tells the phone which towers to go to. My number was PRL Rev 10024. The current one is 10033. This instantly fixed my problem.

What is really annoying is that Sprint could not figure this out and simply fix it. In addition they wanted to charge me a fee to look at my phone at their store even though it was their software update. BEWARE: Sprint has a new policy, if you have your phone for more than one year and you don't didn't buy service insurance, they will charge you 15 to 50 dollars to look at your phone. They do not notify customers of updates. They expect you to call *2 periodically to check for updates and that is not always reliable. When my contract is up, I'm switching to Verizon.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GalenWilson submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I think there is a major glitch in some of the Treo 600's some people have it others don't the glitch is that it drops calls or won't even dial sometimes and it gives you a little message that says "No Service." However one might blame it on Verizon but the phone will have anywhere from 2 to 4 bars of service and other verizon users standing next to you will have perfect service and reception. I'm sure there are a million Treo 600's out there people are selling for very cheap, simply DO NOT BUY IT ONE it is absolutely terrible. The only pros are the keypad which functions ok and the flash memory card holder. Just to add insult to injury the camera function is by far the worst I've ever seen on a phone. ONCE AGAIN DO NOT GIVE IN TO THE MANY DEALS FOR CHEAP 600's OUT THERE YOU ARE GETTING ROBBED IF YOU PAY $5 FOR THIS PHONE.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I am in the DC Metro area, which has excellent coverage from Verizon. I have been at lunch sitting across the table from co-workers who have other Verizon phones and they are able to talk on their phones, but my phone still drops calls. I am tired of running outside the building to accept cell calls or having people complain that they can't reach me on my cell phone. The phone has a lot of great features and works great as a PDA, but it has just not been functional for me as a phone. I think it might be the design of the antenna and the fact that it is all digital and not trimode.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Phone reception is terrible. Admittedly I live in a fringe area but the old Sanyo 8100 worked very well on the Sprint network. Would have 3 bars with it at home and never lost a call. One bar with the Treo and have to go outside to get that and constantly drop calls. Ready to sell and start over.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The only thing that I like on this phone was the synchronizer it is very fast. The speaker on this phone is horrible you have to turn it down so you can under stand what they are saying. Plus when you put the phone on to your ear its really hard to listen because there is a big bump on the ear peace making it hard to find the right spot. I prefer not to buy this phone it really sucked oh and after resetting the phone every single day it suddenly turned off on my and never came on.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

the2ndflood submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have used the Treo's 300, 600 and now the 650. Not to mention a T-Mobile Sidekick, the AT&T Motorola MPX, a Nextel Blackberry, a Samsung i600, and Treo's are the absolute gods of cell phones!!! The Palm source OS software is very stable, much more then Microsoft's Pocket PC. The battery life on the Treo 600 & 650 is insane! Often times when I'm home laying in bed, I will search the Internet for hours and hours and these phones will still have more then enough battery power to go for a few more hours. When it comes to talk time I have gotten more then five hours talk time on the Treo 600 & 650. There is so many programs for the Palm source software, that you will be able to max out the performance on these phones. I use a program called "ZLauncher" which allows me to see the exact signal purity in any given location, and I have found I get signals in places where my LG and Sanyo would not. And because I use Sprint PCS's $10 unlimited Visions access with my Treo 600, I never have to worry about going over any data plan rate. I will remain a loyal Palmone and Sprint PCS customer for a long time to come!

The only problem I have with PalmOne is over price. I wish the Treo's were cheaper. Other then that, I have never had a major problem with my Treo's.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

aj4loan submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I am not one to be too critical of a Cell Phone, and I personally like this phone. As expected there were a few inconveniences that kept it from getting a perfect score from me. This is my first PDA phone; and I looked at the Treo 600 and the BlackBerry (would have liked the 650 option but Verizon did not carry it for some reason) Chose the Treo due to true email/web access and they threw in a free MP3 player upgrade at time of purchase (extended service)

1st; the negatives...The email is not compatible with my outlook email. Which was Big for me my Company uses an outlook email address. The system would not sync with Outlook. So, currently it serves me no purpose to use as a true work tool. Other than a Cell phone. System seemed very sensitive and had a hard time locating a nice cover and good ear piece. No Blue Tooth with Verizon, and MP3 player was very complicated to download my music files from my computer (still not working correctly)...Camera is the worst I've seen (it really is useless)

Now, positives....Many of them. Very comfortable to hold & use as a Cell phone. I have Big Hands and no problem with KeyBoard size. QWERTY keypad is very useful in text and email (which I use my other email account without a problem)...PDA functions are great and having all in 1 system was/is great. MP3 player can be down loaded...SD card slot for expanded memory...Handsfree is important when driving but the speaker phone works well. Several accessories to custom fit to you (once you find where to shop; Verizon is limited)...Favorites makes dialing when driving very easy with the directional pad..

so, for me this was a useful and helpful phone. and once I get the Outlook email and MP3 working properly (if ever) is a keeper. But I know there will be an upgraded version that Verizon should have now; but doesn't.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

harley4life submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have had the Treo 600 for just over a week. Over all I think it is a pretty nice phone/pda. I upgraded from a Samsung A670 which was a great phone. I just wanted to have palm along with my phone. I did have to exchange the Treo since the ear piece went out the 2nd day I got it. Since I was within the 15 day wfg, I got another brand new one. This one seems to be working great. Here is what I think of it.

Pros:
Easy to use, I don't really even pull the stylus out at all. The keypad is nice for texting, it did take a day to get used to. I was able to beam my info from my Tungsten E real easy. The size is great compared to the pocket pc phones. The speaker phone works great. Never had anything better. I like how everything is easy to use on the display. I like the favorites on the phone display, better than speed dialing, can put #'s, email address, apps, almost anything. Lots of customizable features.

Cons:
The signal seems low, I have not missed any calls that I know of. No dropped calls.
The volume of the ringer is low, no Get it now to download other ringers. Have to use software for it. Had to replace it once for the ear piece loosing volume. The display for pics is bad. But I have a digital camera for that.Still would be nice to have a higher resolution screen.

I haven't synced it. Still testing it out on reliability before installing on my laptop. From what I've been reading it doesn't work well with outlook, will have to find a way around that. O
Overall I'm pretty sure I will keep it, until VZW gets the 650 or something with higher resolution screen.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Good size, feels good in your hand.
Decent battery life (2-days moderate to heavy use).
Pretty good screen clarity.
Faster than I thought it would be.
Verizon's data support group has been great.
Very reasonably priced for a smartphone.

Cons:
Reception is much worse than my Kyocera 6035. Even in all digital area's, I have had more dropped calls in the last week with the T600 than all of last year with the same carrier. Two bars is minimum required to place a call, old phone-zero bars would work (not great, but would work).
No Graffiti (could get used to the keyboard)
No blue tooth or wifi
Only dual mode no analog capability.
Email client will not sync with outlook and with the wireless software.
Processor limits calculation intensive operations, but gives better battery life.

In western NC, Spartanburg SC and Columbia SC this phone has not performed as well as most phones I have owned. If the call has to go through, get a real phone or a trimode pda.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've had similar issues with the Phone locking up and rebooting itself. I also have to go through a number of steps in order to do a simple process (like making a phone call). Also the phone will indicate i have voicemail but will never ring. I'm hoping the 650 has improved... anyone had any experience with the Treo 650?

Frustrating
by jughead Sep 15, 2004
My company got these with the Sprint Service (which has also been very disappointing here in Southern CA). While I can maybe blame frequent dropped on calls on Sprint, the product failure rate is a collasal problem. The earpierces keep failing. I'm on my second unit in 3 months and another member of my company is on unit #4.

The every-other-day self reboot is extremely frustrating as it happens of course when your trying to do something. My fingers are small, so I can manage the keyboard, but guys with average fingers and larger should definitely test drive before committing.

There's no jog dial like on a Blackberry, and the interface isn't to my personal liking.

The phone reception / call performance is terrible, so I carry around my personal Verizon V60 (2+ years old) and rely on it for failsafe back-up when important calls get dropped.

Conclusion: As a rep to my tech company, the multitude of problems with this thing makes me look bad.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

refles submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Great phone, upgraded from numerous Motorola phones. Have used Palm since it first came out. Resolution is perfect for what it does, would be nice if it's a bit higher, but that's what the 650 solves! But I must say that it's a great phone from Verizon (took them long enough), talk time is about 3:20 mins standby is awesome as well! reception is incredible so far!! (just remember to dial *228) This was well worth the wait in Palm/Cell phone technology. Even better since I was able to use the new every 2 credit. The software is pretty good, but there are small issues. (just compatiblilty issues with older palm software to OS5) So far it's only reset on me 2 times, both of which was while playing with the Palm OS features. But other than that in 3 weeks of constant use, it's pretty good. Just remember to find a headset with this, no way to drive and talk on this thing, just oo big.. but it's great at night, makes a nice flashlight :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have had this phone for two weeks and find it to be a very stable platform. I use to have a PDA running on a windows platform and it would crash at least once a week. The Treo works great as a phone as well I would recommend this phone if you are carry a PDA and a phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Will never go back to a dual pda and phone system -- it's so convenient to have it all in one unit. Easy to use and nice and compact. I just wish it had a better camera but can live without that. Calendar, phone book, to do list, and telephone features easy to use and just like my Tungsten C which I loved....but convergence is such a kick.

GO GET THIS PHONE NOW!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Great customer care, in the store and on the phone. They have supported my wife and I in every area we have needed help.

The phone, I have had my Treo 600 for almost a month now.
Signal strength is the greatest, best I have had, I can get calls in places I never could before.

E-mail, Web, text messaging, sync with Outlook, keep all my contacts and schedule in one place all the time.

Size and weight are perfect.

Battery life couldn't be better for this type of phone. Learn to keep a car charger and desk top charger handy and you will never have a problem. I use the phone all day for calls and e-mail, I just put it on the charger when I driving or in my office, I have never run short of power. Much better than my Treo 300.

The camera, I did not get the phone for pictures, but if you do it takes OK pictures not great. If you want great pictures get a real camera.

The phone is fast and easy to use. You can use it almost with one hand.

If you want a phone that keeps you from carrying a palm and a phone, and can send and receive e-mails fast, this is the one for you. And Sprint is your carrier.

At this time I can't find any con's about this phone. For the price and what it does for a busy person it is the best phone yet.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tbagr submitted this review of the Palm Treo 600 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Well, got my new Treo 600 on Friday (8/20, Verizon) and had the weekend to play with it and use it. It is fair to say that it is very hard to get used. Was using the LG VX-6000 before and an IPAQ, wanted to try to combine in one phone.
Pro's:
All-in-one portability.
easy text / email usage.
Email on the run.
Can dial any contact from Outlook.
Sync works fairly well.
Speakerphone is nice. good sound, first time I have ever had that feature.
Good manual.
Expandability (SD card)
Small for PDA / Phone!
Battery life seems okay.

Con's:
No voice dialing (I know Verizon has that feature but at $5 - $6 per month)
Screen is sub par, poor resolution, especially with pics. Although, the pics are fine when emailed.
Speakerphone option locked up already (day 2) and had to hard reset (lost everything but sync restored all.)
Navigation is a little hard to get used to at first, especially coming from an IPAQ environment.
At times, I feel as if I am hitting 100 buttons to do little tasks.
Not sure the reception is as good as my VX6000.....????
No graffiti software.

Typing on the Treo is not too bad. If you have big thumbs....forget about it!

Got used to holding to my ear pretty quick, hard to locate the ear piece at first.

Will be cussing at the thing if I hit the screen on something due to NO protection. Thank God for insurance.

Will update soon or email me if seriously considering it. (millwrit@mchsi.com) Got mine for $349 direct from Verizon. I didn't qualify for the new every two, they made an exception b/c of our account. Kudos to VRZ!

TBAGR

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
