sobeit7007 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This is my 4th droid; I started with Moto, two htc then back to moto. I have to say this is the best one I've ever had. It's fast (4g) great clear crisp display; good camera. Above all, and most important, it makes calls well. It doesn't have absolutely clear and perfect call quality (what cell does?). I've yet to try Razr Maxx, but I am VERY satisfied. I tried iPhone 4s for a couple of days -- not good at all.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I would highly recommend the phone to anyone. The hands free speaker works great and the bionic
has a lot of nice features.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

klinger1108 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I wanted this phone to be awesome, but after only 2 weeks I've had to get a replacement and it's still not what I expected from Moto. I've had many of Moto's VZW and Sprint products and have been a long time fan of their hardware/software builds. Here's my breakdown:
PROS:
- LTE (when connected) is awesome
- processor is super fast
- speaker phone is plenty loud
- overall nice look

CONS:
- software is buggy, phone has frozen many times during camera use, calls and unlocking the screen.
- UI is better then previous moto "blur" but has a long way to go, not polished like HTC sense.
-camera (for pics) is useless, takes 3 seconds from the time you press the on screen button til the shutter clicks.
-my second units earpiece is distorted and people say my calls sound muffled.
- phone drops out of data service often, forcing me to do a battery pull and reset. This happens a lot after a call.
Those looking for a dual core processor phone might want to wait for the next line or a software update, otherwise you might have the same problems I had.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This is my first 4g device and when I consistantly get speeds of 25+mbps download and 15-20mbps upload which is amazing and over 11mps on mobile hotspot. I have friends who have the new Samsung Galaxy S II and is not nearly as smooth or as fast as this device. I would recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for a strong, well built, durable, 4G smartphone.

CONS:

~Battery Life (even though it is better than all the others the 4G does kill the battery, i use it ALL THE TIME and it lasts about 6-8 hours on a full charge)
~Camera Functionality, i miss having the physical button for the camera rather than touchscreen only, sometimes takes too long to focus and actually take the photo(this is only on 8MP camera not front facing)

These are the only 2 big things that I have noticed with the device so far, and trust me I've had it a week and half and put over 5.5gigs of data so i use it a lot.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

fotofiend submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Without to much hyperbole, holding this phone in my hands is like having a Genie in a bottle, or even a portal to the universe. Unimaginable power even a few years ago. Real Ray Bradbury stuff. Want to see the sun coming up over Half dome in Yosemite, it's yours. Call up the Hubble space telescope for a look at the beginning of the universe 12 billion years out. Done in the blink of an eye. Here in San Francisco on the Verizon 4G network, the download speeds are up to 20 Mbps and the upload speeds can reach 16.5 Mbps. Dizzy yet? The screen is bright, sharp, contrasty, and big. The operating system is mature and seems to anticipate my every need. The camera, it works. The video, it works very well. Oh yea, as a phone it sounds great. I got the extended battery at the point of purchase for a decent discount, which I would recommend, and the Verizon hard shell case, which feels good in the hand and will accommodate the extended battery. Am I stoked? Five stars full.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Loud speaker.excellent call guilty and reception. Great design

Neutral:
Battery.screen lock

Cons: none

The battery life is good holds up under heavy use.(4g eats it up fast) the screen lock is a little annoying but can get over it.

qingshan submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

My daughter says I am a phone slut - she's right. I had the HTC for less than 5 months when I got the Bionic.

Pros: resolution, speed, large battery, 4g. multitasking, cameras, ram...

Cons: I was surprised that it only came with a 16gig MSD chip - so I took the one out of my Thunderbolt and did not have to sync my music. It is not likely that I would ever have used all of the stock one but I am also a mod freak (my Sti for example).

I would conclude that it is my favorite phone to date. I am switching back (for a week) to the HTC for a trip and for the 2.3 upgrade - so I may be back with a change of mind but I do not think so. The phones are similar with the Bionic having better specs (smaller MSD not withstanding).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

peekb24 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Exceptional phone all around for the most part, there are a few minor issues that i see as far as cameras auto focus but that can be fixed in an update and come on guys we all know that Motorola was never great in that department, other than that battery life is 7-8 hours not to bad considering how much I use my phone, qHD Pentile display could be a bit sharper but wasn't a deal breaker and build quality i would have to say its a bit shocking because it feels like you have a $300 phone in your hand i have played with other phones and they all feel cheap, calls where clear and 4G stayed connected (Maryland area) ... What more could you ask for ... I mean really?

Pros: Blazing fast thanks to Verizon LTE 4G,
very snappy 1Ghz dual core processor,
brightest screen on a smart phone Ive
seen thanks to the qHD Pentile screen,
great call quality hasn't dropped a
single call !!!!

Cons: Cameras auto focus kinda crappy -_-

Overall i give it a 4.8 but we don't have that option so ill just round it off :-)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

IXCKNYXI submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Having this phone finally in my hands, I have to say feels surreal.....

The build quality is superb, the weight and feel are also above par. The display is ample in my opinion, however, coming from a Droid Charge, I have to say there are differences in contrast, image quality, and sharpness, however the display on the Bionic suits my needs.

The call quality is great! Not as loud as I'd like it, but decent enough for mid to loud ranges in noisy environments. The camera, which I honestly have to say takes great pictures, needs updates to the interface to improve usability. Currently, the camera app is laggy, takes too much time to focus, and seems to be lacking more robust features found on previous offerings from Motorola.

The battery life has been great, and I have been constantly gaming / surfing with the ever present calls and texts coming in.

One thing, the alarms / notifications / speakerphone seem to be a bit on the low side of volume tastes. I'd say out of 10, these can be scored at about 6 or 7. Not the best, or the worst, but the clarity for the speakerphone is decent, it's just the volume that's holding it back.

Loaded with Gingerbread, this Droid is truly a dream, snappy with all apps and commands, I feel the delays were acceptable to improve this device.

A kickstand perhaps should have been included with this unit, and aside from the speakerphone volume, I have to say this phone is definitely worthy of a 4.5.....

Worth the 9 months? Perhaps.... Worth the price of 299.99? Give us a break Verizon. The only reason I paid that is because originally this was the phone I set out to get when I returned to Verizon. A great phone, solid in all regards and outstanding in performance in terms of processing speed / network speed, but perhaps a bit overpriced.....

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

shveckle submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I am coming from the HTC Thunderbolt, so I can compare the 2 really well. I have had Bionic for 2 full days.

Things that are better about Bionic
-The most thing that is better is the screen in bright sunlight is excellent, probably the best I have ever had. The Thunderbolt was very bad in direct sunlight no matter how bright you put the screen.
-It is faster to use so far, very zippy and fast. The Thunderbolt seemed good when I got it, but it really slowed down, felt slow when I had it last, maybe the build up of the apps and the cache's, it felt like it was getting slow. I guess I will have to see if this one will feel like that after using for a few months, but it is a dual core phone.
-Lighter weight phone.
-Android 2.3.4 is nice
-I think the 4G connection is better, it doesn't cut in and out as much as the Thunderbolt, it seems to always be connected. The Thunderbolt 4G would cut in and out on mine (I live in Brooklyn, NY)
-Call sound quality is clearer then Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt was muffled sounding.

Neutral
-Motorblur is ok! not that bad but definitely not as good as HTC Sense.
The battery it came with sucks and is just as bad as the Thunderbolt's. I don't notice at all that is better, I don't think it is.

Better about Thunderbolt
-HTC Sense UI
-Camera for sure (I am a photographer and am very good at tweeking settings and all that stuff. The Thunderbolt was very nice, its autofocus was fast and responsive and it even had facial recognition on the standard camera app. And the exposure seemed to be better too. The Bionic over exposes and the auto focus is slow and it blurs often, whether from being out of focus or from motion blur (using too slow of a shutter speed).

So overall
Pros of phone
-screen in direct sunlight is excellent
-fast
-light weight phone
-Android 2.3.4
-Stock ringtones
-Call sound

Cons
-battery life of course (definitely get the extended battery, everyone will need it)
-Camera
-screen door affect on the display sometimes

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have owned every iPhone that has been released, and this phone is right up there with them and even passes them in many categories. My only issues are the screen, wish the colors were vibrant Like the SuperAMOled screens. Battery life is bad but in my opinion every phone has bad battery life if u use them like I do. The plusses are signal strength, no lag, fast, and app quality seems better than on other phones. If all Android phones that come out are of this standard, Android apps won't have any problems competing with their IOS counterparts.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

CNY DJ submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Love my Bionic, … Mostly that is.

Let me get the "negative" out of the way first.

The battery cover is a bit hard to remove and replace and is a bit thin and cheap feeling. A nice solid back side would have been nice. It would also have been nice if Motorola had put a "kick stand" on it like the Thunderbolt. This would make using the front camera more useful. The vibrator (for silent mode) although strong has this funky sick sound to it. Let's you know the phone is ringing but !!!

Other than that WOW!!! This thing rocks. 3G and 1x signal is awesome and 4G everything promised. 4G really let's you see just how fast this dual core processor really is.

The display is very crisp and the color is rich and detailed. Call Quality and clarity is very good. The battery seems to last much longer than I had ever expected. It is a smart phone and so when using the web you can drain the battery some but they did a good job with this one. If I just use this as a "Phone" the battery will last a solid 14 hour day and then some. If I am doing a lot of down loads.... not so well… but still quite good for a smart phone.

I got the Lap Dock with it and this helps a lot when using the web. Key board and large display are handy.

Over all this is the best phone Verizon has ever offered. It will be interesting to see how the market goes now that 4G / LTE is growing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

doomsdalicious submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Background:
- Every iPhone device released
- Droid X
- Droid Bionic (current)

This phone satisfies all my needs and more. I'm not being a Motorola apologist, but I don't understand why people are so upset with how they handled the launch as all they did was upgrade the hardware to support a phone that provided dual core, LTE, and decent battery life. These were my 3 main requirements and this is exactly what I received. Good for you, Moto, for not putting out a phone so quickly to be the "first to the market" with a LTE device sacrificing battery life like the Thunderbolt and Charge (neither of which are dual core). I don't mind the bloatware as it doesn't slow the phone down, hamper battery life, and doesn't run these apps in the background unless you want to use them. If you don't want to see them then just create an "app list" so they don't show up. I ran custom ROM's (Liberty most recently) on my Droid X and there was always a annoying bug, random reboot, or battery life issue. I gave up and went back to stock and battery increased dramatically. All I need is root and root apps and I'm golden.

PROs:
- Dual core is snappy
- LTE is blazing (Verizon network is the best obviously)
- Battery lasts me a day and this is all I need. I normally get about 15+ hours which is all I need
- Motorola hardware, call quality, etc.
- Gorilla glass
- Sleek, light device
- Docking alarm clock

CONs:
- Stock camera could be better, but this is easily resolved by downloading a better camera app

Again, you could wait forever for the "perfect phone", but my requirements were LTE, dual core, and battery that last me a day on an android device and I couldn't ask for much more.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

DROIDMAN submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Having extensive experience with Droid, Droid2, Droid 3, Droid X, X2, Thunderbolt, iphone4, Samsung Charge and now the Bionic, I can say that this phone is by far the best phone released to date. As for it's cousins the Atrix and Photon which are crippled due to lack to pure LTE, I can't speak for them. Phone is light, qhd is brilliant, LTE is fast, battery is surprisingly long lasting-being LTE, qhd, 4.3 screen and dual core. 1gb of ram, 32 mb of storage, front and rear camera. Tango works great...you can cancel the free wifi spots..if you have LTE enabled and unlimited data, the LTE is a much better choice and faster...From other reviews from other users I have not experienced any rebooting as I did with 6 Thunderbolts...My battery really last...you have to tweek your data settings to get the most juice out of your phone...But just turning the phone on and leaving the settings the way they are--you are not going to get what you what would expect out of battery life...To be honest--what is the standard battery life--no one knows...These are pocket pc's, running LTE and are faster than most peoples home pc's so I really don't know what people are complaining about in battery life...That's my take and it gets 5 Stars.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This phone is smooth
-Pretty light and thin
-Great build quality

Cons:

-Camera Software needs to be updated.
-Speakerphone is a little low but not a big issue.
-Expensive. Look for better deals if you can
-Too much unwanted apps

Bottom line:

Still a great phone but yes it's not perfect. People have issues with the display but it's not that bad. I think people over exaggerate but I do agree that SAMOLED is a better display. If you are a VZW customer this is a great choice for you if you have been waiting on a 4G device. You can wait a little longer but if you choose this device, I'm sure you'll be happy.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

joey301 submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I ended up hating this phone. It would never connect to data. Verizon's response to my complaints was terrible. I ended up swapping it 2 times but each replacement was just as bad. On the final swap they gave me the Charge,

am coming off of the original Droid. I have had the Bionic now since the day they came out, so only 3 or 4 days. So far, I have not had any problems with it and I am hoping that continues. I think the screen display is fine. I like the additional memorywhich was marginally better. that I have compared to the Droid so I don't have to worry if I have room for apps. And, of course, I like the speed. I like that its a large phone, it makes reading email a lot easier than it was on the Droid. My battery seems to last a full day with moderate usage, I turn off features I am not using.

Sometimes, I think I would be better off with a 4G tablet, and go back to a simple phone, but that is not the path I took with my latest Verizon contract. I have to get use to the multiple home screens, but so far, I have plenty of space on them, and I like to keep the center one free of clutter anyway so that I can see my background picture. I think its a little difficult getting the icons on the screen of my choice, they tend to jump around for me a bit.

I do not use this phone for work, so I don't require any of those features.

As always, I think data prices are too high.

Pros-
Large Screen
Fast
Lots of memory
Easy to Customize with lots of options

Cons-
I don't like the keyboard, I think its harder to type as accurately as i could on the Droid
Verizon said I could void my warranty if I scratch the screen, so I had to use a cover...I hate those things.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

y2khris submitted this review of the Motorola Droid Bionic:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I have the habit of switching phones every 4-6 months and have had some experience with android phones on Verizon. I started with the Droid, then to the incredible, then to the X. My X was rooted, over-clocked and very customized and I have been waiting for a better phone to take its place. I've looked at all of Verizon's offerings because I like using fresh phones, but I haven't found any with enough of an improvement to change out my phone. I first heard about the Bionic in a report from CES 2011 and have been awaiting its release impatiently. I really want to love this phone after waiting for it so long!

I picked up my phone on its release date and here are my initial opinions after 5 days of using it:

PROS:
*This phone is very responsive.
*4G is blazing. (Averaging about 11 down and 5 up in Orange County, CA)
*1080 video seems better than the 720 it is replacing.
*Call quality very good and speaker phone doesn't disappoint.
*Dial pad quite nice.
*Touch sensitivity seems a little improved.

NEUTRAL:
*Battery life is alright.
*Size and weight are a little more substantial than the X.
*Feels a little more slippery in my hand than the X (I don't like using phone covers/cases)
*Shutter lag seems comparable to the droid X.

CONS:
*The 960x540 pentile display feels very grainy compared to my same size 854x480 that it is replacing.
*No dedicated camera button.
*The 4 keys on the bottom are soft keys that are probe to lag or acting up when the display acts up; plus if the lock key ever breaks, there is now way to look at your anything on your phone.
*5 home screens as opposed to 7....My home screens are completely full, common Moto!
*Flash/Flashlight is brighter.
*Front facing camera (though I have yet to test it with Skype)
*Can not set alarm sound to grow in volume.
*Does seem to restart itself about once a day or so, hopefully rectified with software updates.

Conclusion:

Possibly best new choice from Verizon. Wait for better if you can.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
