joey301 submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

This phone does nothing to improve my feelings about Google phones. This is my third Android phone, I had the original Droid, then the Droid Bionic, now this one. The Bionic had to be the worst phone ever made.

Cons - it gets really hot in my hand
I can sit and watch the battery drain
I can't get to a home page on the browser
Android is complicated, I can't find the place to set notifications, it seems each app has it own place to set these things. I can't turn off a notification for a message unless I open the message, there should be a mute button on this thing

Pros - I like the size
the screen is clear enough
there are plenty of apps

I will trade this phone is as soon as I can.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cheatedbyverizon submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

I use this product everyday for work. I unplug it from the charger at 8am and it usually lasts until 10:30am until the battery's dead. Every phone call I've had static and a bleeping in my ear that just about blows my eardrums out. It randomly shuts off and restarts and says it's searching for internet access when I know I have 3G. I have to restart it 2-3 times a day to try to fix the static and bleeping. And how does verizon fix the problem? By replacing a bad phone with the exact same bad phone. And the "new" phone after calling in to verizon 3 times and not even having it a week, switched to airplane mode and wouldn't get out of it. So then I can't call out..use internet...etc. And it went from that to can't read sim card. What's verizon's solution? Go get a new sim card. So you can continue using the same terrible phone. Then you can call in for the FOURTH time in a week to tell us your phone isn't working, and after blaming the local service and cell phone towers and everything but the phone, they can finally admit it's a terrible phone....and send me the same exact replacement of a new terrible phone. Verizon traps you in without admitting their actual problems so avoid it altogether and don't get this phone!!! Or the public service commission will be your new best friend.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The screen size
2. The battery is decent in comparison to other android phones
3. Camera is amazing for a phone
4. Screenshots are easily captured
5. 4G lite is so quick! And auto so battery doesn't wear
6. Texting is easy for all touch
7. Sound quality is good
8. Front facing camera!!
CONS:
1.Really cant think of too many at this time

I have had probably over 60 phones. I love this one. Besides the Iphone this is my favorite.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Deviceguy submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Wow! I have had this device for about a month and a half now. I wanted to use it long enough to give an honest review..

The 4G itself is truly enough to sell this phone. Lets face it, if you are like me, you spend about 60% of the time with data and 40% of the time with voice.

I find the voice quality to be excellent.
The screen is in a class by itself. Right up there with the iPhone 4. The bigger screen truly gives the web browsing a whole new level of surfing the web.

The slick style also makes this phone very attractive to look at. I get a lot more questions over what phone I have then ever before, which is sad.... ITS A PHONE PEOPLE, NOT A HOUSE OR SUV!!

The 150,000 android apps and open market make this device my choice over the iPhone4. It is just waaaay more customizable and cant live without those widgets!

If you are looking for a device that covers the whole ice rink and covers all bases.. get this device!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cbaker02 submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Let me start with I used to have the Samsung Fascinate, because of many issues and replacements of that phone Samsung upgraded me to the Droid Charge for free under warranty exchange about two months ago. When I got this phone it was much faster, battery lasted longer, didn’t crash, signal strength was improved and it was 4G LTE. Now the phone keeps loosing data connectivity (but you can still call and text), looked it up online and it is a big problem with these phones on Verizon. Another problem is the phone will randomly squeal a click while you are talking to someone. This almost sounds like mores code for the clicking and someone peeling out at a stop sign for the squealing noise. The person on the other end of the phone call would never notice if it wasn’t for you having to ask them to repeat themselves.

At the time that I am writing this I have the latest software
Firmware Version - 2.2.1

Kernel Version - 2.6.32.9

Build number - SCH-I510.EE4

Pro’s
Nice Screen
Excellent Camera
Lots of storage
Didn’t come with two much extra software installed

Con’s
Loss of data signal
Battery life keeps going down
Poor game performance (Video is slow)
Squeals and clicks during phone conversations.
Cannot uninstall many of the preloaded apps
Back lighting is slow to adjust its self to the environment
Phone gets slower by the day
Needs frequent reboots

Long story short I would not recommend this phone to a friend unless Samsung and Verizon address the issue that causes los of data connectivity.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chaddymoff submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I'm a phone junky and average switching phones about every nine months. I think I've actually found the keeper for a while.

I'm calling this one "great" in all of these categories:
- screen brightness and color
- reception
- call quality
- app running and stability
- button feel
- overall solid phone feel
- build quality
- camera and photo quality
- Swype
- Voice-to-text translation that I use when driving
- GPS connection
- Call, notification, and music volume

I'll give it a "pretty darn good" for battery life. I've had the Incredible and briefly tried the Thunderbolt, so I am well-versed in watching a battery drain at a senseless rate. (-;

My thoughts on some of the negatives that you may have heard/read about:
- LED Notification: I actually prefer using the NoLED app over having a single light. With the latest versions, I now only now know if I received, for example, a text versus an email. But I also know from whom I received the text as the app displays the person's contact photo.

- Single-core Processor: It's good enough to allow me to navigate with Google Maps, play music blue-toothed to my car stereo, and surf the web. Admittedly, I don't do any crazy gaming, but this thing moves along just fine. My main concern with the upcoming dual-core processors is that they'll be battery suckers. And let's face it, we barely get enough decent usage out of smartphone batteries anyway these days.

I guess that's about it. Great phone, great features, great form, great function.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tylercf submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I went with the Samsung Charge after 'test driving' the Thunderbolt for a couple of weeks. When comparing the two, the Charge comes ahead in nearly every aspect, and where it doesn't, merely breaks even.

PROs:

-Super AMOLED Plus screen- just beautiful.
-The Charge has good battery life for a smart phone.
-Fantastic camera- and camcorder, even in dark conditions.
-I have been tethering with a MacBook Pro and a Toshiba with no problem.

CONs:
-Froyo- hopefully there is a 2.3 update
-Bloatware
-No LED indicator- that is an easy fix, though.

Overall, the Samsung Droid Charge is an amazing phone, good voice quality, few instances of apps needing to force close, and no power cycling. I would pick this phone over any other 4G LTE phone that Verizon has.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GuyinLACA submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I originally bought the Thunderbolt and had many problems with it, so I exchanged it for the Droid Charge. So far the switch was well worth it. I use my phone primarily for calls, text, and web browsing, so my priorities may differ from someone who streams videos or music everyday.

PROS:
+Super AMOLED+ Screen is awesome
+Excellent call quality, on-par with Motorolas
+Build quality is great despite being plastic
+Lightweight, not a brick
+Thinner than the Thunderbolt and Revolution
+Aside from the TouchWiz launcher and color scheme, the apps are fairly close to stock Android
+Much better looking in person

NEUTRAL:
=The physical keys feel slightly cheap
=Battery life is better than the other 4G phones, but still mediocre at best.
=Vibrate isn't strong, so it won't drive you nuts at work, but you may not feel it in your pocket

CONS:
-No LED notification indicator, must download an app
-Brown/orange color scheme is ugly, is seen in every app, and doesn't match the phone
-Pricey phone, NOT worth $600 full retail or $300 on contract, look for it through 3rd party retailers.

Overall, this phone is a huge improvement over the Thunderbolt. It may not have some of the flashy widgets and attractive glossy Sense UI, but it just works better as a PHONE. The fact that I can enjoy clear calls, get better battery life, and not have apps force close 5 times a day is a huge advantage for me. I still think the Bionic will be better, but this phone is very very good.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

membluess submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Decided last month to get a smartphone. The learning curve is simple, just need to invest a little time. There is 4G in my area of Florida. I moved from an LG env touch VX1100 I believe. Living in the city, never had reception problems with verizon. As soon as I got the charge, the most popular word in my conversations was what? You cant do a *228 cause of the 4g and Verizon couldn't help me, so back it went. The voice recognition got worse instead of better with the recognition app voice search. If it didnt get it right the first time, it just got worse. But that is more of an operating system problem I think. I have very large fingers so going back to the screen keyboard is impossible. I rely on voice recognition if no keyboard is available. I believe the Bionic will be released soon and it has an upgrade to fix that issue. As for battery life, show me a smartphone that has a good one. The trick is to turn off what you arent using while you aren't using it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The screen is better than my galaxy s fascinate screen which is itself an awesome screen. I personally like the shape of the phone. the physical buttons took me a day or two to get used to coming from the touch buttons. I would recommend this phone over any other verizon 4g phone except maybe the bionic which may not actually ever come out lol.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

DMZ submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

After 8 years of Windoze Mobile devices, I have to say this phone IS THE BOMB. I find most of the complaints are from people who either haven't taken the time to figure it all out and/or were biased to begin with. Best display in the industry, lightening fast on 4G, adequate speed on 3G, great camera, great music player, and very easy to use. The battery life complaints stem from the fact that over 90% of the drain is from powering the screen. So given the fact that you’re almost always playing with it (no pun intended), the screen is almost always lit, and the faster the battery drains. Installation of NOLED from the Marketplace provides the indicator for missed calls, text & email notification, and charging that Samsung left out.

The MUST HAVE add-ons include the Desktop Multimedia Charger w/extra battery, the Shell/Holster Combo which gives the phone a handy kickstand like the Thunderbolt, and a screen protector. An $ saving assortment of Genuine Samsung headsets & chargers are available on ebaY. I bought a Samsung brand AC charger there for $4.95 and a Samsung brand Car charger for $6.99 versus $20-$30 each from Verizon direct. The AC and car chargers seem to charge the battery a little more rapidly than the USB connection, so it's a good idea to keep one of each handy.

Though there's a bit of a learning curve, this phone can compete with the iPhone on practically all fronts. It’s not only faster then the currently available iPhone 4, but I’ve been able to surf and talk SIMULTANEOUSLY even when running on 3G. There’s a facility to turn off 4G to help conserve battery power. If there’s software for the iPhone that tickles your fancy, chances are you’ll find it in the Android Marketplace too, and often for free. Notice how Apple is running all those “If You Don’t Have an iPhone .…” ads on TV? Well guess what Apple, I found something at least as good if not better.

After 2 weeks of ownership, I’d still buy this phone again in a heartbeat.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Can actually see the screen in the direct sunlight, this is amazing. Call quality is so clear and no dropped calls. Best phone i have ever had.

Cons: There is no led to let you know that the battery is charging, but there are free aps for that. But when battery is charaged you will see an icon in upper left that lets you know it is charged..

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

guacandchips submitted this review of the Samsung Droid Charge:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I love this phone. The Super amoled plus display measures 4.3" and a 32 gig micro-SD card comes standard. The battery life is exceptional for a 4g device -- I've been able to get through a full day without having to charge the phone mid-day. The camera is pretty good, too, as long as you realize it's not ever going to replace a good point-and-shoot or SLR. The reception is pretty good and the call quality is clear. I've had one dropped call in 8 days. Contrary to what I read in one review, it does not have to be re-booted once it loses a 4g signal in order to get back on to the 4g signal. The Verizon 4g network is still suffering through some growing pains but I've still been able to get download speeds between 20 and 50 times faster than 3g. In my mind, that's definitely worth the extra $50 or $100 this phone is likely to cost you over any 3g only device. I downloaded a 2-hour movie in about 5 minutes while on 4g.

It doesn't have a dual core processor and it does have minor issues navigating certain flash-intensive sites. It's also priced a little high through Verizon at $299, but if you have a Costco near you (or catch it on sale at Amazon or somewhere else) it can be had for a regular price of $249 with a mail-in rebate for the activation fee and a free case, car charger, and ear bud. There's also a $25 Samsung Media hub credit offer in the box. Not too bad of a deal for this device. Better yet, Verizon still has unlimited data plans available so it might not be a bad time to lock into a contract.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I enjoy the phone itself. I am having the same problem I had with the Thunderbolt which I had to return, because it would not stay connected to my MacBook Pro. I am devastated. I really want to keep this phone, but as I am on the road all the time, I need to be able to connect as I travel, and this is just not working for me. All the good things that have been said about this phone are true. No one has mentioned the hot spot. It just does not work for me. Anyone else with the same problem? I really want to keep it, but unless someone knows something I don't, It will be returned next week.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
