Call quality was great with T-Mobile service, although it did have the occasional dropped call. Ringtones get really loud and downloading new ones was quick and easy. Texting on the other hand was confusing at first, having only texted on a Sanyo 8100 before this, but after a while you get used to it.<br />What made this phone 'explode' is still a mystery to me...I finished a call, placed the phone normally on a countertop, then I heard a quiet beep I haven't heard on the phone before, the screen got really bright and started to spark from the center. I turned it off and while it still worked afterwards, with a large burn in the middle of the screen, I didn't want that to happen while it was next to my face, so I took it to T-Mobile. Here's some of my observations with this phone over the last year and a half.<br /><br />* Poor reception<br />* Extremely slow processor<br />* It can freeze from time to time, particularly when going "too fast" through menu options. At this point you must remove and reinsert the battery for it to reset and function once again.<br />* Poor construction: Face plate cracked from top to bottom when phone fell from my 3 ft. high desk onto carpet. <br />* Doing things like adding/editing a phone number (among other things) is very cumbersome--way too many screens to go through compared with most phones. <br />* Picture quality is extremely poor.<br />* Impossible to see screen in sunlight.<br />* If you plan on keeping phone in pocket, must always be on "lock" or else it can easily dial a number simply by the friction of walking.<br />* Your previous calls: can only check time, and after 24 hours only the day the call came in. Most phones allow a detailed analysis of every call as long as it remains in the list(i.e. length, time, etc.).<br />* Joystick is a pain: Many times when I want to enter the main menu by pressing the joystick, it acts like I press up instead and goes into my phonebook and vice-versa. <br />* "Voice dial" function is a waste. Difficult to use compared to other phones.<br />* Memory: Unless you keep downloading pictures onto your PC and making new ones you should be prepared to have room for only a dozen or so pics. The memory is extremely low!<br /><br />I will never own another Sony Ericsson phone. The functionality is the worst out of several phones I have owned. I personally don't recommend "bar" phones (non-flip) to anyone but then again that just comes down to personal preference. People who have said that they get good signals must either work for Sony Ericsson or have metal plates implanted in their skulls.<br /><br />Secondly, the UI is too complicated. Example, let's say you're on a call and need to look up a # in your phonebook, as I'm sure any one of us has had to do more than once before. Here are the steps:<br /><br />1. JOYSTICK<br />2. MAIN MENU<br />3. PHONEBOOK<br />4. MANAGE CONTACT<br />5. VIEW CONTACT<br />6. SCROLL TO FIND CONTACT<br /><br />In contrast to the old Samsung I used to own:<br />1. PRESS DOWN ARROW (this puts you directly into the phonebook)<br />2. SCROLL TO FIND CONTACT<br /><br />What's even worse is trying to setup speed dial. It's a SUPER PITA!!<br /><br />All in all, these UI shortcomings don't warrant such a low 2 star rating, but the reason why I give this phone 2 stars is because the signal quality on this phone is EXTREMELY BAD. Your computer also has to have bluetooth or infared technology. For Bluetooth, on your T610 make your computer one of your devices and make a passwarod for it. In the provided website, click "download now" for the item you want. Save it in a folder, Right-click your file and send it to your phone. For Infared, align your phone to the infared port. Download and save file. And send it to your phone.<br />2.
