The_Cappii submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Let's be frank here, phones have now long surpassed this phone's capability on any platform, but no phone has ever, nor will ever match the HD2 for it's versatility. It runs Windows 6.5 out of the box, and does a very nice job doing so. It is probably the best WinMo 6.5 phone ever made. But, with some clever hacking by the ladies and gents over at XDA, it also runs Windows Phone 7 and 7.5, and better than most phones do that come with it natively. However, it also runs Android. Many, many flavors of Android. And it runs it very well. Not until dual-core processors became the rage did anything even come close to what this phone could do on 2.3.7 with Cyanogenmod. Click for click on Wi-Fi, it easily outpaces a Droid Thunderbolt.

Pros-
- Very large, responsive screen
- Great Camera
- LOTS and LOTS of public support on XDA.
- Extremely Versatile
- FAST!!!
- Feels good in your hands
- Above average battery life, especially on WinMo
- Screen quality was way ahead of it's time

Cons-
- Original factory touch was flaky. Replacement touches improve this phone vastly.
- They've gotten to be very expensive again :D

Overall, If you can get your hands on this phone, and can take it to someone who KNOWS (not just thinks they know) how to flash it to Android..... GET IT!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

thehumble1 submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

There is only one reason this phone is anything other than an "also-ran", that's because it sucked as a Windows Mobile phone, got cheap, and people on XDA picked it up as if a lost sheep. What HTC and their Senseless UI design couldn't do, XDA did with aplomb. For almost 2 years it's been the baddest phone out there, and has gone from super cheap (near $100 used) back to astronomical prices ($450 on Craigslist for a 2 year old phone). The devs have this thing running pretty much any OS (Windows 6.5, Windows 7, Linux, Android, Ubuntu . . .) and while it's not perfect for all of them, it excels at Android.

So instead of buying a $600 new phone that has a useless UI laid over Android and never is updated (hear that Samsung?), you get a phone that was updated 2-3 times per DAY... yeah, 2-3 different new builds per DAY. Even if you don't want to run bleeding edge stuff, you get to run the latest Android with full features and unlike other phones, it's fully rooted so no one can tell you to not hotspot or tether or install Netflix or whatever you want.

It could have a bigger battery. It could have a front-facing camera, it could have an easier to replace screen, but it's still the best phone you can buy if you want Android without the HUGE price tag that comes with subsidized phones.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

LOVE IT!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have to clean it the hole OS twice a day for it to be smooth and i had it.. It runs out of signal all the time.. Im using T-mobile and you can flip the screen for texting but not for the rest of the tasks.. It does it for a mili second and then goes back to the regular screen..

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've experienced windows mobile before so nothing really new to me. I've messed with android before & feel like its a better operating system then windows mobile.

PROS:
Nice 4.3" display
5 megapixel camera w/ dual LED flash is nice
1GHZ processor
Nice animation in media player & photos

CONS:
Battery Life
In call speaker volume is horrible
Should've gone with android instead of windows mobile
Phone freezes or turns of every now & then
Windows Marketplace isn't as good as Android marketplace

Overall it is a really good phone but with all the new phones coming out I would not get it unless you really just want the phone. Wait for HTC's new phones to drop. Phone fits good in pocket & not to big to talk on. i give it a 4 out of 5

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I came from an Motorola Droid so I was used to a fast OS like Android.

Pros:
Huge screen
HTC Sence
T-mobile's pricing

Cons:
Windows Mobile 6.5 instead of Android 2.0
Glitchy interface
Lack of apps
Horrible battery life (to be expected with the big screen)

By far my biggest con with this phone was the fact that it froze up so many times. having to pull the battery wasa real annoyance. The phone would freeze everytime I got a text message, and I would have to wait five minutes for the phone to even react to my touch.

I have an iPhone 4 now, and I would have never purchased this phone, or stayed with the Droid.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I REGRETTED WHEN I GOT THIS PHONE AND IT DIDN'T NEARLY AS MANY APPS AS THE CLIQ HAD. IT'S GOOD FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED A BIG SCREEN AND IT DOES WHAT YOU WANT IT DO MOST OF THE TIME. IT DOES FREEZE UP FROM TIME TO TIME SO IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR IT TO PROCESS THE INFORMATION. OVERALL I WOULD STILL RECOMMEND THIS PHONE TO SOMEONE.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I got to space and it goes back, i got to b and it gets n. I really dislike the texting on this phone due to the fact that i have to keep retyping and fixing it so much. Now, I have small fingers (5'3 at 120 lbs) so you can't say that my fingers are to big.
Even with the fast processor, this phone just lags and freezes all too often. After powering off and powering on it takes a good 5-10min to even place a call. This phone has had the screen freeze more that 5 times within an hour on one occasion.
I would not recommend this phone to any of you out there. I would rather have a Nexus one of the iphone over this anyday.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

lightyear1880 submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

Pros: Excellent picture quality, no doubt it beats other smart phone screens. Loads of application. Loaded movie transformer. 16Gig. external memory.
Cons:
I bought this handset in may 2010. The screen use to freeze once in a while, but since yesterday it is stuck on the same screen. No matter what you do, I took the batteries out tried rebooting the phone but still the same result. More over the HTC folks have a lousy policy and customer service. When I called them up today the lady over the phone first had me run couple of reset steps but the device didn't budge, any way after being on the phone for 1/2 hour she transferred me to the another department. Here the guy was more interested in taking my credit card details than to learn about the problem. Anyways he tried to reassure me that mighty HTC may not charge my card if they will find no physical damage to the phone. Now the next step will be that you will have to send the handset to their repair center in Texas and will have to pay the inbound shipping charges, not only this when their technician will run a diagnostic test on my phone to see what might have gone wrong they will charge $ 39.00 for their generous services, regardless that I paid for this phone almost $500.00. Folks my first hand experience say that its a lousy phone with a terrible product warranty, where all you be getting after spending your money is frustration and yeah a 3 week long wait for you phone to be repaired. I would say if you folks have any other option on smart phone, avoid HTC. It really sucks, because no matter how better its HD2 screen could be, it doesn't function the way it should, and in my case has neither been able to do a job what even a basic mobile hand set should do- Making Phone Calls".

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

deepc submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had my HD2 for a couple of weeks and I've been very impressed overall.

Pro's:
- Very fast 1 ghz processor
- Great screen size and display
- Plenty of apps

Con's
- I wish it had android instead of winmo

So, I found a site(XDA developers) that actually allowed me to download Android and run it on the phone and..it's still a bit buggy and I've become too used to windows mobile now. The only thing that I'm envious of is the capability to scan a barcode for apps and then download them but I've actually found a couple barcode scanners on the windows omarket site that allow you to scan products and find the best prices.

Overall, I'm very satisifed with the HD2 and with the assistance of a couple of apps(one in particular called Co0kie that allows you customize the screens in a much better fashion that Sense does) I'm very content.

Once android is fully functional, I'll probably run dual boot(also available via xda developers) so I can take advantage of both systems.

By the way, this phone is selling at deep discount now so it's agood time to take advantage of the deals.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Vosberg1 submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

HTC has been a manufacture that i have used for about 7 years now, and, when i got the HD2, i admit, i was having good hopes with this device. The different things that you can do with WinMo, it is pretty awesome. Here is what i feel of the HD2....

PROS:
- Data is quick and reliable. I use it to tether, and to do a fair amount of internet usage. Use the Opera Browser.
- Camera is good.
- The screen does not shadow out in sun.
- Bluetooth setup is easier then on older units.

CONS:
- HTC Sence. This plug in i disabled almost right away, it caused the phone to freeze, and to lock up. Also, it errored the Slide to lock (which i don't use as much, so it was not a headache there.
- If the screen gets above "normal" temp, when taking a video, the .MPEG4 file will be corrupt. Shows a green screen during playback. Has sound in that file, just no picture.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I left the Iphone for this phone. I have had almost every smartphone out there, and this one is the besst. The screen is fantastic. Os is fast, even on 3G web pages open very fast. Office Mobile is great like having a lap top in the palm of your hand.

Pros
Beautiful Screen
Fast OS
Camera

Cons
None - All around good Phone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jorgephnx submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I know windows mobile is outdated already and many just hate it without even giving it a chance.

I had htc phones with windows for 5 years; yes it has many issues and a newer version is overdue for at least 2 years; but htc did a great job of integrating their sense UI to give it a modern and user friendly feel, and I must say that after owning both the hd2 and the evo it wasn't easy to let the hd2 go, even with its minor sofware flaws it's easy to get attached to hd2, but 1)I still was under a contract with sprint 2) sprint's network is more reliable, at least in my area 3) I have a bitter feeling against microsoft for not developing a newer version of windows mobile before or at least by the time android came out, now it's too late, I left for android and the evo.

but the truth is htc helped windows mobile to fight another day with the hd2. the way htc sense UI runs on this phone is very smooth and sexy; I even like how sense runs on the hd2 more than what they did with the evo. the hd2 is more colorful and there are so many ways to customize sense to the way you like.

many have also complained about how this phone freezes, well it's true but htc and tmobile released an updte for the software to fix that problem. it was the htc messaging client that was causing the problem, so no more freezing.

if you are happy with t-mobile's service and don't mind to reboot your phone every few days, there's no reason not to get the hd2.
as far as apps, well there are less for windows mobile but they are really good, with android there are much more but not all of them are stable. office mobile, bing with navigation, my phone, kinoma play, pocket player, uhhh I still miss them.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

AXHEJAZ submitted this review of the HTC HD2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Pros= super fast, excellent features, highly customizable with third party freeware, and just a well built high quality phone with a huge screen.

cons= need to be windows mobile experienced, hd2 is more for advanced users rather than for someone who just wants the newest, biggest, and best phone. hd2 is truly a marvel in making, from an I.T. perspective, the phone is amazing, you basically have a computer in the palm of your hands literally, but again users need to be windows experienced and specifically windows mobile experienced in order to truly enjoy the full potential of the hd2

I love the hd2!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
