azurecrimsonrose submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I used to have this phone and, while it was a great phone, there were some issues I had with it. First, the positive things.

world phone

great audio quality when the phone worked properly.

the ringtones

color-changing lights that you could set to different contacts

all physical buttons

Any alarms I had set would activate at the time I had them set for, even if the phone was off.

Now for the negatives

The phone would "spazz out" when I would try to move contacts from the phone to the SIM card. It would kick me off and send me back to the main menu. Then it would decide that it would not let me add anymore contacts.

The ear piece speaker quit working altogether and the only way I could hear people, during my calls, was with the speaker phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

clutchxp submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I had this phone with AT&T and it worked okay for a while. Here is a list of pros and cons I saw while having owning this device.

PROS

- quad band

- ringtones

- digital camera

- call quality

CONS

- ear piece quit working altogether. The only way I could hear people was through the speaker phone.

- Trying to move contacts to the SIM card was a hassle. The phone would allow me to add a random amount of contacts (first it may be 10 and then 4 if I tried again) and then kick me off to the multimedia area of the phone.

This phone gets three out of five stars because of the cons listed above.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

crkclrdgrl submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I purchased this phone when I first signed up with AT&T, before they were the AT&T of today. The phone worked great and the bells and whistles on it were great but after a while, it started malfuncioning. One of the problems was the speaker in the earpiece stopped working altogether and the only way to be able to hear what the other person was saying was on speakerphone. That was just one issue of many I had with this device. I was thoroughly disappointed with this product and I do not recommend it to anyone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jesse_505 submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I have had three Nokia phones before this, and received this phone for free from a friend only a few months ago, so it was well used but still working well. It is a nice looking phone, but mine is very scratched and new covers are expensive.

Pros: The bluetooth is good, the screen is pretty good, the camera is nice. It feels nice to hold and is attractive.

Cons: The phone is really slow to react when typing SMS's etc, probably due to the fact that I type reasonably fast. All the buttons are opposite to Nokia, even the red/green. Memory isn't all that great, no expansion slot. I find that the flip bit registers as open too soon, sometimes it opens just a crack when I am pulling it out of my pocket and it hangs up on whoever is calling me. The stupid Motorola 'volume changing' noise drives me nuts, as it makes the noise in my pocket when the volume keys are bumped. Without locking the Ring Styles menu, the profile can be changed with the smart key, which is clever but happens accidentally all the time.

Yes, I know I'm being a bit fussy but it's the little things that are annoying. Probably having the phone from new would have impressed me more.
Overall, it's not a bad phone, but personally I prefer Nokia's.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jdillingham submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I bought this phone the day it came out in 2004. It has been a damn good phone and lasted through many drops, kicks, spills, etc. As a matter of fact, I bought an HTC Wizard a few months ago and ended up going back to this phone (not because the wizard was a bad phone, but just because I never used it for what it was made for). I plan on ditching this phone though for a KRZR in a few days, but I will always hang on to it as a backup. Don't let anyone tell you the V600 sucks, because it was way ahead of it's time (in 04 it was one of maybe 5 phones that had bluetooth) not to mention it's extremely durable.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cac submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I got this phone in spring of '05. Was amazing.

Pros:
*good camera (for the time)
*good reception, voice quality
*features (multiple alarm clocks...I can easily sleep through 4)
*LOVED the ring lights (so pretty...)
*really good battery life (once I didn't need it on vacation for a week and a half, so I left it off. Came back...still had 2 out of 3 left)

And then...it died. I don't know if it's because I dropped it a few times...but I'm really clumsy and my old phones survived quite well.

So, after around 15 months, the cons showed up:
*earpiece died. (this seems like a common problem)

...taking all calls on speakerphone wouldn't have been that bad...except:
*you can only access the speakerphone around 3-5 seconds into the call. Which really sucks.

I absolutely loved this phone, but I had to get a new one (I would've gladly gotten another v600, but I can't find one anywhere!).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

When i received my z500, i had WISHED that i could have my motorola back.

It got the job done, and i personally liked the graphics. Bluetooth was great.....it did freeze up though. I like the battery charge - and the reception wasn't too bad i guess. I'm hoping the v620 is better though.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It was amazing! I loved the polyphonic and mp3 ringtones that it had, the event lights, the big screen, the fact that it was a quad band phone, the video playback, etc. I loved everything about this phone! However, I did hear from other people (not on here, but elsewhere) about the V600 having issues and that it was recalled due to those issues, but I had no problems with my V600. I highly recommend it for people who love to have all of the latest features on it and who don't care about not having the video record feature (which the V620, the upgrade of the V600 has). It's a great phone all in all. I found nothing wrong with it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I was having a great time with it for the first few weeks, especially the glowing lights on the front, when it started ti shut down on its own. TMobile said there were known problems with the software and they offered to take it back and exchange it for the v330. So even though i only had the v600 for a few weeks, i really did like it, except when it started to power itself off and freeze up at random times. The reception was great and the speaker was nice and loud. it's just not being supported by tmobile. see my v330 review...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I found the reviews for the phone that I have had the past two years: Motorola V600. Crummy phone, cost a lot.

Pros:
Metal case
Bragging rights to spending the most $ for a phone

Cons:
Poor volume
Terrible ring volume controls
The worst charging system ever: I have replaced the car charger 4 times (3 on my dime) because the "hooks" bend or break.

I won't waste any more time reviewing this phone, I'm glad I found this site so I can get feed back on a new phone BEFORE I spend $400.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It drops calls like crazy and the stabilizer in the camera is non-existent. I had to send it in for repairs TWICE only to get a NEW phone and it did the same thing my old phone did. This phone and other Motorola phones are a COMPLETE waste of money. They all have the same issues - dropped calls, limited capabilities, and blurry pictures! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

conrpop submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

There are enough PRO and Cons up already, but much like my other Motorola phones, they seem to have a limited shelf life. After 6-8 months, kiss your battery life goodbye, even if you purchase a new battery from Motorola. The phone starts doing weird things like freezing, turning off on it's own. It's just not a very stable phone in the long run. This is my last Motorola.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jabao_ron submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone since February 2005, and it has worked wonderfully. It has a great desing and the circular multicolored LED in the front makes it look really attractive. I'm using it with Orange, a carrier in Dominican Republic. (I think it is a branch of an European carrier, not so sure about that). I use my cellphone a lot sometimes, so it gets hard job everyday.

It is a great cellphone to have. If you look for something simple and functional. Maybe it is not as good as its brother, the V635, but it sure works fine.

PRO's:

-Quad-band: makes it recieve signal almost everywhere and anytime. I've been in far away places and even with one bar of signal it has worked perfectly.

-Easy to use menus: every option is easy to access through the menus.

-Personalized LED light: you can select a multicolored LED display for an specific contact or category.

-Frontal LED display: Shows time, streng of signal, battery life, bluetooth, type of network, calls, messages, SMS's, datebook appointments, photos taken (with closed flip), and almost every option of the phone.

-Speaker: excellent sound, and it goes really loud. You can also hear you MP3's with it.

-External Voice dialing button: makes it easier to use voice dialing. Push the button, speak the namen and it dials it automatically or manually.

-Style Rings: very simple, Loud, Soft, Vibrate, Vibrate and Ring, and my favorite, Silent.

-Bluetooth: works excellent, really fast, and detects almost all devices (there's a CON about this option).

-Battery life: I left the phone on for 5 1/2 days and it displayed low batter at night of the fifth day, (Standby usage). Daily usage showed that it can handle up to 4 days without charging.

-Multimedia: MP3 support, MotoMixer allows you to create a sound. Themes looks great on it, video playback, camera, background picture and screen saver option, supports JPG and GIF.

-Continues-

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

USA1600 submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I must say I'm not sure what all the fuss is about the V600. I've read all these reviews saying how terrible it is. I used an unlocked V600 from Motorola purchased on ebay for almost a year before getting the RAZR and never experienced any of the problems that I've seen others mention so much. My battery life was always excellent. The sound quality was great on both the internal and external speaker. It marked a much needed return to a basic ring tone for those who don't need the entire Billboard Hot 100 on their phone. I dropped it a few times and noticed no reduction in quality. I even dropped it in a shallow puddle of water and noticed no change. I will admit the charge mechanism did not need to be so cumbersome. The charger doesn't lock in securely enough. The Bluetooth could use work. It disconnects from the device way to easily. You can imagine the irritation of the phone ringing and you press your earpiece only to realize it's no longer connected.
It is overall a fine phone that still beats many newer models in terms of looks. It's structurally sound because of the metal housing.
I've heard that people paid like $400.00 for the V600 when it debuted. Trust me, even the best phone is not worth that much. Patience will save you a lot of money. And it's often the first units that are plagued with bugs.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The past twelve months which was the first and the last, I had trouble with the charger/plug, battery time dropping to seconds, the bad designed outer switces, the screen cutting out and going blank, difficulty charging ... again!, the Motorola blue tooth is flimsy and useless. I gave up on that and got me a Nokia blue tooth.
After seven Nokia's I got this horrible lemon and after only reading the comments of other owners now I realized I'm not the only idiot that made the mistake of buying it!
Motorola please recall this mistake or refund the buyers or at least apologise for putting that mistake on the market please. I'll trade my flagship for the oldest reliable Nokia any day.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

caram5150 submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

This phone has become almost useless to me now. Started out OK with the phone save the bad camera quality (awful looking pictures regardless of lighting and zoom settings) and sporadic reception when indoors. But after a few months of use I was unable to get any reception indoors and very little outside as well. It started to drop calls constantly and I hadn't dropped it or exposed it to water or anything like that.

I sent it in for repair to Motorola and the first time they took 2 weeks to get it back to me. Unfortunately, they didn't fix a thing on the phone as they had claimed. I sent it back to them again, they agreed to put a rush on the repair and this time it took me almost 2 weeks again to get it back from them. Like before they claimed it was fixed and that they had replaced some of the components in the phone. When I tried to use it - same problem. Needless to say I got a supervisor involved (which was a chore in itself) and sent it back to them for the 3rd time. Yet another 2 weeks and they finally had to just replace the phone because they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the it.

Pretty incompetent techs who after 6 weeks in their possession still didn't have a clue. Unfortunately they sent me the same model as a replacement and now a month later it is starting to show signs of doing the same thing.

Pros - I can't think of one at all.

Cons - I bought it because of all the features that it had - international calling (tried to use it once for a business trip to Mexico, activated the feature and nobody could reach me at all), camera (awful quality), mobile Internet (very slow loading - ends up costing you a fortune to use), and it was supposed to be quite advanced as far as connectivity is concerned and that didn't pan out too well either.

I will never waste my time with Motorola or any of their products again!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Cappy submitted this review of the Motorola V600:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Overall it's a very nice phone. I've heard some bad reviews about bugs but so far I've seen none. No dropped calls on the Cingular network. Was originally a T-Mobile phone and I flash/flexed it to Cingular and everything has worked fine since. Nice camera, takes decent pics and seem to be better than my LG1400 pics. Reception is great on the Cingular network here in Minneapolis and greater Minnesota. Only cons I can think of are I wish speakerphone could be activated without having to connect first, the addressbook is a little awkward but you get used to it, and I like the voice activation feature. It's a very nice looking phone and it gives good value. Might have been overpriced when it came out but since I picked mine up cheaply as it was used I can't complain there either.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
