when i first got the phone i love it. because it could run with the iphone.

year half later. i hate this phone apps keeps force closing, freezes up all the time. Any app i use does it.
i drop it once and the corner of screen is cracked.

pro's

has keyboard
lot of apps
battery life is good
navigation it awesome.

con's
3g comes and go's
all apps force close
keeps freezing up.

First, the only reason I rated it so low is because it is 2011 and there are wayyyyy better representations of an Android based phone today. This review is more about Android 2.2 that about the Droid, but the phone is in fact the best I have ever had.
But, I had to have a PDA, and cant afford a contract and such. My cell now is a walmart cheapo. I found my Droid at a flea market for $80, and since I was seeing 70-125 for a straight PDA, it was a no-brainer to buy the Droid. It took all of 20 minutes for me to question how I ever lived without Android.
Apps to do everything. The thing takes my PULSE!!!! Great camera for everyday use, and being able to upload a video i take on the phone, from the phone, is awesome!
It has no service right now, so everything I am doing with it is either no internet connection, of WIFI. Simply awesome. Contacts, calendar, tasks, email, CRM, diary, health and fitness tracking, camera amd camcorder, music player (streamed off the net or my own music), pic viewer, navigation (without connection if u get the right app and do a bit of work) and on and on. And it performs flawlessly! The 550mhz cpu struggles a bit sometimes, but with the current Andriods sporting 1GHZ dual cores, I don't think lag is an issue anymore.
I finally have a device that does everything I need it to do, and it does it all very well. It finally is a PC replacement for 70% of my work! Oh, and the voice recognition vie Google is so good I can dictate my book to my cell, upload it via wifi to google docs and share it with my publisher... all from my cell! Oh, and since Google yanked Docs offline support, Android is the ONLY platform you can seamlessly work with Google documents both online and offline.
No, there really wasn't life before Android!
And yes, I have used WinMo, Palm, iPhone and Symbian, and Nokias Maemo and whatever is on the N900. None of it holds a candle to Android 2.2

after going through 3 phones being replaced by manufactures warranty Verizon upgraded me to a Droid 2 and I love it.

- physical keyboard fell apart
- horrible battery life
- wouldn't accept software updates
- poor signal/reception
- slider felt loose and cheap
- keyboard layout poor
- screen rotate would not work

This is the first smart phone I have gotten and I'm glad chose the Motorola Droid.

Pros:
-Great screen
-full slide out key pad
-good size for me
-Lots of Apps and features
-I like this over the Iphone
-Good camera for a phone

Cons:
-Does get warm during calls, but all my phones have.
-Battery life during heavy usage (although, pretty good when compared to my GF Black Berry Storm2)
-The interface does lag at times (Iphone is more smooth when it comes to that)

Bottom Line:
I liked Motorola when they first started making cell phones... then they started making not so good phones for a while. This was my first Moto in a while and I must say, I'm impressed. Good Job Motorola for making such a good phone.

I got this phone dec of 09 and I had that phone for a good 7 months till I traded it on craigslist for a blackberry storm 2. I mean thats pretty much says it all.

I have to say the only pro about this phone was the free gps that the phone offered. This phone in my eyes was very far off from the title smartphone the specs of the phone screams amazing and versatile but the actual use when you get into the meat and potatoes really sucked I gotta say.

This is probably the best overall phone that I have ever owned. This is my second Android OS phone. I had an Incredible, which I liked, but was not impressed with the look and feel of the hardware and I wanted a key board.

Pros:

-Android OS
-Call Quality
-Volume
-Reception
-Screen

Cons:

-Lags from time to time if too many programs are open
-No mobile broad band

The phone has it's issues...
This phone has great potential however, I have folks repeatedly tell me that they can't hear me and it doesn't matter where I am. I have a verizon cell tower inside the building where I work so it's not the signal. This is from many different callers.
The battery life stinks unless:
You have an app killer and use it after every function. This is an absolutely ridiculous function to have to do. Even after getting a phone call, you have to undo the screen lock and push the app killer widget to save your battery life. I have forgot to do this and my battery is dead in 30 minutes. (no kidding)
The screen is an absolute dirt magnet.

The browser and speed is second to none.
Not sure why Google can't fix the problem with the apps always running.

Although this phone isn't perfect it honestly is close. Blazing fast with an amazing screen.

pros: screen
Apps are amazing
Keyboard after 3 days of usage is already close to the comfort of my env touch :)
Mulitasking is epic
On screen keyboard extremely user friendfly
And please trust me lots and lots more

Cons: sadly just like avatar the last air bender I ws dissapointed haha. But only with the camera quality. In some lighting my env touch 3.2 megapexil looked better than that of the droids. Video quality maes up for it somewhat.

Bottom line....get the freggin phone! You won't be sorry haha

I like this phone when i've used it, but it is a little slow in response and has terrible battery life (with the Eris I've heard MANY complaints MANY of them, but my friends that have it and when I used on at the VZW store never did.

Pros:
5.0 camera, seriously, it's almost as good as bringing my Kodak w/me and I love the camera and video capture. Big screen, FB app enabled, Android based phone, good software, it runs fast, but the turn on and the sliding up the phone speed is slow, sound quality.

Cons:
When you slide up the phone, it takes about 4-5 seconds for the phone screen homepage with the icons to load.

Turning on the phone. 2 people I spoke with had said that this phone had taken 30-45 seconds to turn on. It seems as if the blackberry turn on speed is about the same? I'm just saying when i had owned and used store models, when you had a system update or when you'd get the phone out of the box new, it would be slow for it to power on. But I understand because the phones themselves are very nice ones.

BACK TO PROS:
I love the size of the keys. I used a model at Verizon and I seemed to be able to type tons of a lot faster. I don't know why I am able to, but I also seemed faster on my Samsung then I was on this model.

Overall if you want a smart phone plan i suggest you should consider this phone.

Pros:
-Best screen on the market. Highest resolution and 24-bit color.
-Made of metal and thick glass very durable ive dropped it twice and still works great.
-Great signal reception and sound in ear-piece.
-Tons of free apps.
-Has a keyboard
-Comes with 16 GB mirco SD card!
-Excellent Battery life.
-Best network Verizon network!
-Easy to use android OS.
-Daul processor super fast.

Cons:
-The only one would be that the phone is a bit heavy but thats to be expected because its made of metal not cheap plastic.

I believe this is the best phone on the market right now. Every manufacturer has their good and bad models but Motorola has really out done themselves with this one!

If u know anything about technology or phones then u would know that the droid is the best phone made as of yet.

It does anything plus it may run at 1.3 ghz and has one of the best display resolutions on the market.

I was very intimidated by the Android concept but now I could never go back. I am coming from the LG EnV2, a tough act to follow as a solid texting phone. But I needed web access. First I tried the LG EnV Touch for a few days and then the Motorola Droid.

The Internet with the LG Touch can't be compared to the Droid. Like comparing dialup to broadband. The Droid is fast, intuitive and feels like surfing on a PC. It allows toggling between multiple browser windows running simultaneously. It immediately connected to my home wifi making web surfing even faster than the already fast 3G. Wifi also means web access during phone calls.

The APPS make it. From Music to weather, it seems there’s an application for everything with dozens more being created and updated daily.

The Bottom Line (from best to worst):

-Texting: 6-stars (was 5-stars but voice-text upped it to 6)
-Web browser �" 6-stars (fast, furious and wifi ready)
-Navigation �" 6-stars. Just tell it “Navigate to . . .” and you will be surprised.
-Mapping �"6-stars
-Display �" 6-Stars (simply breathtaking - O.S. 2.1 added pinch zoom etc.)
-Photo management 6-stars (I can make my own folders from my computer)
-Call quality: 5-stars (Was 2-stars but Verizon fixed it)
-Application Count �" 5-stars (was 4-stars but time + developers ups it to 5)
-Music quality �" 5-stars (There are great APPS for playing your music)
-Battery life �" 5-stars (way better than either of the LG’s)
-Battery management (Like all things Droid, first time I’ve had it on a phone)
-Camera 5-stars (would be 4-stars but camera APPS and flash make for 5)
-Appearance 5-Stars (Was 4-stars due to weight but active wallpaper makes 5)
-Price: 4-stars (was 3 but rebate plus $75 selling my EnV2 makes for 4-stars)
-Keyboard �" 3-stars (I’m glad it’s there but the LG is way better)
-Simplicity �"3-stars (This gets better fast and I will never go back to simple)

Average rating �" over 5 stars by comparison. It looks intimidating but becomes addicting.

Amazing phone!
I will preface this by saying I have had a lot of time with the iPhone's 3g 3gs, and I will not "get used to" the lack of feel the screen keyboard has, and the fact that it takes up space. On the iPhone or nexus or droid eris, doesnt matter.
Since everyone wants to know I made a compilation of...

Droid vs iPhone:

Better Keyboard (it has one)
Better Processor (faster)... See More
Better Camera (5 megapixel)
Better Maps (Street view pwns)... See More
Better Navigation (free!)
Better Network (Verizon)
Better OS (imo)
High Quality youtube on 3G
Removable battery
Removable 16gb mSD expandable to as high as mSD cards go now...
More expandability (android doesnt need jail-breaking)
Widgets and more homescreens w/o jailbreak
Multiple apps and webpages running doesnt slow it down

I was playing with in class today Surfing with 5 tabs open, had texting in the backround, my calendar and youtube. I was just flying thorugh the apps I forgot what normal phones are like lol!

6months and no problems!

I have had this phone for about one week .I replaced the Blackberry Tour with the Droid. The only reason 4.5 was because of the keyboard
Pros:
Great screen.
On screen keyboard and predictive text works well.
Great Web experience.
Plenty of Apps.
Open platform.
Quality build.
Battery life good.
Saved $15 a Month Enterprise fee for Blackberry
Cons:
Would of liked the active wallpaper as the Nexus One .
Keyboard not very good feel. Could have left it out.

I absolutely love this phone and find more things to love every day. It is very user friendly. I was a little concerned that there was no user's manual but it's not necessary. Just by playing with the phone a little, you will learn how it works. The display is beautiful. The touch screen is sensitive and fast. The slide out keyboard does leave a little to be desired but I'm not docking the rating because the on screen keyboards make up the deficit. As for calls, the sound quality is loud and clear. This goes for the speakerphone as well. I like the layout of the contacts and it's really cool that it will sync your Facebook contacts if you so choose. A couple of people have commented that it doesn't work well with third party e-mail, but I have a Yahoo account and it works just fine. Battery life is surprisingly good considering it is a smart phone. You have to expect it to be less than a regular cell phone because it is doing more even when you aren't using it. Google voice works well and I've only had it not understand what I was saying one time. The Market has tons of free apps that have kept me entertained and been very useful. Motorola, Google and Verizon really got it right with this phone. I would recommend it (and have) to everyone.

I was looking for a phone that was comparable to the iPhone without switching to AT&T and I found it. No this is not the iPhone, but it is comparable. The touchscreen works really well and is easy to use.

I have heard complaints about the battery life, but there aren't any problems with that. This type of smartphone will not have the same battery life as a non-smartphone because of the applications it can run. Just don't expect it to last several days without charging it. One nice thing about this phone vs. the iPhone is that it has a removable battery that can be replaced or you can have back-ups if necessary.

There is a slight learning curve to understanding the settings, but once you find them (took me a day) then it is no problem. I definitely recommend this phone for anyone that uses verizon and wants a great phone that can do a lot.

Pros:
-touch screen works well
-removable battery
-picture quality is amazing!
-camera quality is great and has a flash
-does so much!
-works great with gmail service
-internet is very fast

Cons:
-no instruction manual
-no repeat reminders (is an app to fix it though)
-heavy
-voice dial is horrible
-doesn't work well with email services other than gmail (ex: yahoo)

I definitely recommend to anyone who wants a smartphone on verizon!
