Problems, Lock ups, bloat ware, camera focus time, on-screen keyboard(personaly)

From personal use This phone is great for a day and a half, then its slow by the third day the screen doesn't even want to turn on when u tell it to...by that time the only way to fix it is a master rest

Honestly its the win. 6.5 mobile phones are not worth the money, although i recommend the win. 7 phones

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bachquist submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I have AT&T as the carrier and I think this phone is better suited for T-Mobile. I live in northern Colorado and it doesn't appear that AT&T has the strongest GSM coverage here. This phone does not support the WCDMA 850 and 1900 bands. It supports WCDMA 1700 which is a T-mobile band. I believe this is the cause for most of the phone issues which are very poor to no wireless coverage at all. Even the WiFi is very slow. Since the phone is constantly looking for service it drains the battery faster than it should.

pros: qwerty key board, touchscreen is bright and the resolution is great, lay out is great, great battery when the phone can stay connected to the network, ease of use when it doesn't lock up,

Cons: constantly locks up, doesn't support AT&T WCDMA 850 and 1900 bands, Windows Mobile 6.5

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has good features however is so slow and the touch pad that is so unresponsive and quits when you need it. We bought 2 phones and both have touch screens that do not work. Nice idea but not dependable. Good key pad but touch screen is a tease only works sometimes. Certain things need the key pad and if it is not working you may as well throw it out the window because it will not work. It is not dependable. I am a Quality Engineer and would like to warn people this phone has a touch screen that is unrealiable and sooooo slooooow.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

imjonsa submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

At first I believed this phone was the absolute best phone! However, after 1 month of use the CONs outweighed the PROs. To be generous, I will start out with the PROs.

PROs:
- Large screen
- Comfortable / wide QUERTY keyboard with raised keys
- Loud speaker

CONs:
- Paint chips / discolors quickly
- Battery cover slips off constantly!
- Unattractive email / text interface
- Super laggy! Texting, Email, Internet, Photo Browsing is all Extremely, Extremely Slow!
- Randomly turns off when sliding open / closed
- Takes forever to start up (Which you have to do a lot since it turns off randomly and the battery falls out so easily)
- Integrates Facebook with contacts, however it Never updates!
- Confusing interface between HTC sence and WindowsMobile 6/6.5
- Date / Time seemingly go wrong
- Camera has no LED flash
- Screen is a magnet for fingerprints
- Touch Screen QUERTY is very unresponsive
- Searching for a contact to call takes a while (laggy and unresponsive when typing in a name)
- Only loads 50 most recent e-mails for every account.
- Have to constantly clean out memory to speed up phone - but doing so freezes the phone.
- Comes with no removable memory.
- Battery Life is horrendous.

Clearly, I am no phone expert. I am a typical person who likes to have a nice cell phone. But the HTC touch pro 2 is nowhere near a nice cell phone. If you want a clean interface, ability to quickly text, email, and call friends, and keep up to date on facebook and twitter - the HTC touch pro 2 IS NOT the phone to get! I learned the hard way, and now after paying $550 dollars for this useless phone, I am stuck with it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

TrueLaShun submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I hated this phone with every sense of the word. I guess its because I am use to a trackball coming from a G1 and this phone is incredibly difficult to navigate! you pretty much have to close everything to get back to something (i could never find it in the drop down menu)...on top of that...have you seen the Windows Market for apps??? what a joke!

cons: navigation, os (windows 6.5), app market on windows, no trackball, the phone is ridiculously heavy no customization....the list goes on

pros: screen, camera

i did get this phone as an insurance replacement (thank goodness) so i called back and complained and they upgraded me to the myTouch 3g with the 3.5mm jack and after adjusting the onscreen keyboard im in android heaven!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

justaman submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I had this phone for about 2 weeks, i have T-MOBILE. One of my requirements in a phone is a slide down keyboard that can handle my big hands. This phone is GREAT for those with big hands and that text a lot.

This is a powerful piece of technology! You can use the phones modem to get connected online (never used it thus far), has a wifi connection, It uses windows, not the popular android. For those familiar with smart phones i think you will appreciate this phone, there's so much you can do, I have not had a chance to really look into its full abilities.

The touch screen responds well, speaker phone is GREAT! the screen is HUGE! although the device is kinda heavy, not a deal breaker but it should be noted.

pros thus far:

comfortable keyboard (esp those with big hands)
nice touch screen
internal modem (its new to me :))
quality speaker sound
huge screen (great for online viewing)
interesting texting layout

cons thus far:
a little heavy
no camera flash

I'm sure there are more cons but for my less than tech savvy ass I'm happy so far.

peace

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Tiggerspiglet331 submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I just got this phone a few days ago. I had a Samsung Intrepid. I ended up having to warranty the phone out 4 times in less than a month, and the manager of Sprint swapped my phones for free.
So far, this phone isn't bad. The ringer isn't as loud as the Samsung's, but its not bad either. I LOVE the touch screen. I don't know if its my bluetooth or the phone, but whenever I have the bluetooth connected and on and someone calls it shows I am connected, but there is no sound coming out of the bluetooth until I turn off & back on again. So that could be an issue.
The store failed to tell me that when I upgraded to Windows 6.5 that it would delete everything on the phone, they were the ones who transferred my contacts and shouldn't have done that knowing that it would erase them and send me back to the store to have them transfer the contacts again!

I am not sure how I feel about the charger, I would have rather had a normal charger and a separate USB cord, rather than an all in one with detachable USB cord. Now I gotta go find another USB cord and spend money on it so that I can take a cord with me in my computer bag and leave my charger at home where it belongs.

Pros:
*Touch screen
*Windows Phone
*Clear sound when on a call
*Very responsive when you touch buttons
*The screen adjusts depending on if you have the key pad out or not
*Some what user friendly

Cons:
*Battery life is horrible! I know its a high tech phone, but my Samsung was able to go 2+ days on a charge with me doing everything I am doing on this phone.
*Ringer is really quiet.
*The charger is interesting
*Figuring out how to upgrade the software to Windows 6.5
*Minor screen issue when texting, the screen is all glitchy, donno if its just my phone or all

Other than a few minor bad things, I really like this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MpossibleBlueEyes submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

11/2009 I bought a Touch Pro 2.

3 days after getting my htc, a friend (that had an HTC) asked me why I pocket dialed him 19 times in one day. I thought he was teasing and ignored him. Then a couple other people said I was pocket dialing them. I couldn't see how it was possible since the phone has a sleep setting that had to be turned on and then within so many seconds, the number has to be dialed. Well... Mystery solved.. One day my phone called my friend while she was sitting next to me. Mine was upright in a cup holder not touching the sleep button on top or the touch screen. It was randomly dialing people.

I called Tmobile. Did a hard reset. Waited for windows mobile 6.5 & did another reset. Reinstalled 6.5 & reset again just to make sure I did it right. It kept happening.

T-Mobile sent me a replacement TouchPro2. It was worse than mine. The only way people could hear me was if I used a headset. That phone went back the day after I got it.

The next one they sent... People could hear me. Big plus over the last one... So I set it up the way I like everything and crossed my fingers.

3 days later, I was on my headset talking to a friend and all the sudden I started getting voice mail prompts to leave a message. I pulled the phone out of my purse. It hung up on my friend & called my home phone. (While in a pocket of my purse that didn't have stuff bumping it.) Ok fine.. Called her back & finished the call. Back in the car, it went in the cup holder as usual. In the next 10 minutes it called my home phone 2 more times!

And... the home phone... It's my home office. I NEVER call it cuz nobody but me is allowed to answer it. So it's not like the phone was redialing. Out of 700 contacts in my phone, that time it (thankfully) picked me as the random recipient of calls.

Final opinion... 4 months, 3 phones, all bad. Just say no to the TouchPro2

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ajs253 submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

The tilt 2 for ATT is a great device for many reasons.

First, if you enjoyed the Tilt 1, you will love the Tilt 2. Second, the size, setup of the keyboard and all design additions and features are exceptional.

The device works very well, and the screen quality is really excellent.

The only reason I gave the device a 4.5 is because, although I like win mo, I still don't think I am quite sold on the HTC UI. It looks great, but for practical purposes, it takes too many steps to accomplish a task. Second reason is because of the battery life. It is not bad, but only fair.

Finally, when reading the reviews, my suggestion would be that everyone identify which HTC Touch Pro 2 (Tilt) they are rating. There quite a few glitches with the initial release with T-Mobile. Those glitches have been removed or don't exist with the ATT Tilt 2. So, if someone rates the device poorly, it reflects on the overall phone ratings. Accordingly, please read each review and make sure it applies to your carrier.
Thank you.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There is such a lack of technical/useful instructions and info. I am really surprised that HTC did that!

The menu for texting is kinda weird, there is two different types you can switch through on the phone.. Strange!

You cannot lock the screen if you setup a password to lock the phone. If you want to put the phone in your pocket, you press and hold the "end key" and it locks the device with a password but when you put it in your pocket all you hear is beep beep beep because your phone is expecting you to type in a password. If you don't setup a password to lock your device; you press and hold the "end key" and the screen locks like any other cell phone.
This is so freaking annoying!!! My last HTC product never did this.

And now the problems I have had with this phone.. I guess I am the only one according to T-mobile.

* I get this text message with a sim card icon that reads "129" (T-mobile said this is for 'visual voice mail' and they don't know why I am getting this message because I don't have 'visual voice mail' on this phone. They still haven't fixed this problem and they have a ticket open for it.. whatever that means!

* The touch screen locks up for no reason and you have to take the battery out to reset it.

* I keep getting this error message: "Cannot connect: epc.tmobile.com" It's for the Internet and T-mobile says they've never heard of such a problem.

* My "received" text message came in with the incorrect time stamp. They were always four minutes ahead of my device/system time.. T-mobile opened a ticket and it seems okay now.. but very strange!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I spoke with someone at T-mobile today, they are going to send me out another phone, let's see what happens.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Windows 6.5 is a worthy upgrade to 6.1. if you lovd the old titl youll love this one even better, texting is a breeze with the fold out keyboard, the best i believe on the market today.would have given a 5 star if the browsers were better

Pros, keyboard is great,
screen is sharp and clear
Gps is good
No lag,
Call quality is great, NO problems with loudness
touch screen very responsive, 3D works very well.no glitches so far

CONS, no many.
Not a fan of Opera or explorer but works ok, somewhere theres got to be a better browser.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jwrobel submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have AT&T's version of the Touch Pro 2 and have found it to be a really functional pocket computer. The screen is so crisp- do a side by side comparison to the iPhone, and you can see the difference. You can read a webpage without zooming in on the Tilt2 (800x480), not possible on the iPhone(480x320).

I also come from the Palm world, and I may be one of the few people that likes handwriting recognition. So when I found out that this thing had a stylus and would let me write away, I was sold. It does all the Palm input types (on screen, text box, one stroke characters vs multi-stroke characters). The names of the options are different though, more generic, likely to avoid infringement.

With a few tweeks such as downloading a new PIM manager (such as Pocket Informant) and this phone can cover all the bases while on the road. Being able to bang out Word documents and Spread Sheets, attach them to emails, and navigate websites as if you were at a desktop, it lets you travel light.

Pros:
-Awesome Screen (movies are so crisp)
-Handwriting Recognition!
-Very usable keyboard
-Full email w/spell checker and attachment
-Very Customizable
-Battery life (~2-3 days w/my usage, no 802.11)
-Windows Mobile ability to be cusomized

Cons:
-The Windows Mobile learning curve
-A bit laggy
-No 3.5mm jack, but BT headphone work

Lastly, the TouchFlo is a pretty quick interface, and also fairly customizable. Great smartphone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

TMOBILEMAJORS submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for about 2 weeks.
Its a great phone, but windows mobile is just so lackluster compared to Android that I couldnt get into the phone.

Before i purchased the phone I had been using a G1 with android for about 6 months. The only reason I switched to get the phone was the keyboard which was bigger than the G1 and the tilt function which was pretty cool.

Pros :

TouchFlo is cool
Youtube is flawless
WinMo can support flash which is also cool (when it works)
Keyboard is big
Screen size is huge

Cons:
Windows mobile never changed much and it gets pretty boring
No application store on the phone ( Android has spoiled me)
Phone had a lot of hiccups and sometime froze up
Program that allows flash only works on certain sites (No Hulu!) and it sometimes became annoying to use

All in All this is a great phone if you like WIndows but ever since android has come along I am in love with the features, the downloads and the interface, so i switched back to my G1. I dont think I will upgrade to the MyTouch because I need a keyboard and the Cliques keyboard is akwardly small. The Behold 2 also has android but Samsung's designs always look cheap for some reason and this is their first Smartphone for T-Mobile I will have to wait and see.

- Tmobile Majors! Over and Out

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The headset volume all the way up is so quiet, its useless
-Speakerphone sounds great, but mic wuality is poor
-HTC still hasent fixed the issue with SMS's going through touch flo and not winmo, which causes lag when replying to messages.

The Skinny - This review is totally based upon the T-mobile touch pro 2, lets hope the CDMA version has some of these problems fixed :D

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mingkee submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I think I seldom to recommend branded phone
this one is an exception, a big exception.
The phone itself is very expensive, probably the most expensive after BB 88xx and 8900.
Voice: it's fantastic, no matter through earpiece, a headphone plugged in HTC 3.5 headset adapter, or bluetooth, both earpiece and mic are exceptionally good, the noise cancelling is also good, the friend on the other side even didn't notice I was watching TV when talking.
Reception: 2G is so-so, don't expect to have decent quality if it has 2 bars or fewer, however, 3G is another story, the voice and internet are pretty workable even it only has 1 bar.
A side note: there's an antenna at the camera area, that keep hands off, and you'll be fine.
Screen: it's a big plus, WVGA can make a whole world of difference!!!
Control: the QWERTY is very good, pretty text-friendly; touchscreen is also very good, it's just right even it's resistive; lacking D-pad, or trackball, or optical mouse (BB 8520 style), controlling when closed may be a bit difficult, though you can "slide" the screen.
Storage: the info is confusing, but mine shows 256MB RAM; it takes 16GB microSD, and the cover is located on left side, rather easy to open.
Audio: I mentioned talking part, the music is up to what player you're using, I have pocket player installed, it works just fine, and audio is good through Sennheiser headphones (PXC350); the player supports streaming wma out of the box, you can get GSPlayer to add shoutcast and local ogg playback.
Software: PIE isn't that great, it has problem rendering some sites and pics, and it makes things worse because you can't use D-pad when it closed; Opera works well, and recommended.
You can also opt for Iris Browser, it works OK, but I experience some crashing.
Camera: the pic quality isn't that good, it has some washed out problem; I didn't try the video recording, it claims it can take VGA 30fps mp4.
Conclusion: you should get it if you have enough money, not to mention it can be tethered.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Mektah submitted this review of the HTC Touch Pro2 (GSM) / Tilt 2:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I previously owned the Tmobile MDA which was my introduction to the world of HTC. I skipped the Wing as it was just not the step up I was looking for.

I was hooked on the TP2 and price or not I was gonna have it. That being said.

Pros:Great Qwerty Keyboard, great speaker phone. Call quality in Portland Oregon is great. Solid built. TouchFlo finger friendly. Opera browser included. Great pics for 3.2 MP.

Cons:Default Browser not Opera. Menu not intuitive.(People who have fave five plans but dont want fave five to be home icon have to change it in fave five settings not touch flow settings. No flash on cam. Only 3.2 MP. Screen orientation only in selective programs. Lacks 3.5mm jack.

Surprises:Touchflow hides windows really well. On screen keyboard better than expected. Extension not that big of a hassle.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
