cokie submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros: touch screen responds well, durable, great battery life, camera, micro SD compatible, threaded messaging

Cons: phone turns off when dropped, low battery issue, needs full service to send messages

Overall: I've had this phone for almost 2 years now, and I still love it. The touch screen responds well when it is calibrated correctly, and the battery life is great. Even though the phone feels cheap, I've dropped it countless times on the road, sidewalks, rocks, etc, and it only has a few scratches. The camera is great when you hold the phone steady and you can remove the pictures by putting them on a micro SD card. The threaded messaging is wonderful as well, and definitely should be used on all future messaging phones.

When you drop the phone, it automatically turns off, but that is good if you drop it into a puddle, so you have a better chance of the phone working when it's dry.
Many of my friends and family have AT&T phones, so I know it's not just me with the service issues, but this phone needs full service to send text messages or make calls. A few bars will only allow you to receive messages.

My largest problem is when I plug the phone into the charger, it needs to be placed at a certain angle, or the low battery message will come up every few seconds the entire time the phone is charging. This gets very annoying at night, because I need to leave the volume on since my phone is also my alarm. Other than that, it is a great phone, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good messaging phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

FUZZY submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone has been a problem since the first week of ownership. It has continually froze up during use requiring a battery removal to reboot the phone. I've received 5 replacement phones within the past year under warranty all due to the same recurring problem of freezing up (very frustrating). They evidently haven't figured out the problem and would rather continuing to send out defective products. I have lost all confidence in this phone, and have since decommissioned it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

73poetlady submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Pros: ease of use, picture taking
Cons: battery life, phone shuts off

I received this phone 2nd hand. The phone itself is about 1-1/2 years old. I have had it for about 3 months.
The person that had it before me was rough with it. So that being said the phone has held up very well.
Some of the keys are hard to read because of the enormus texting it has been through, so the letters have been rubbed off.
I did re-calibrate the screen to my liking (I totally recommend this with any touch screen when you first get it). When I try to make calls the touch screen shows that I pushed the number 5 but apparently I didnt, so I guess you could say the touch screen is "misfiring"
Battery life is not that great if you do a lot of texting you will lose battery life fast. I have to charge the phone every night.
The phone has a tendency to turn it self off without warning and for no reason. If you drop the phone it will turn itself off. If you close it to quickly it will turn itself off.
The texting will sometimes not send the message even though you have full service...does not compute.
Over all the phone is decent and holds up well even after being dropped.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It was a good phone to have nice and small, but after about 5 months of having it the problems started. The touch screen freezes and sometimes it will randomly shut off.
Pros: Good size, good size keys on the Keyboard, camera has a flash.
Cons: The touch screen freezes, and is not very responsive,it shuts off occasionly, the battery life does not last very long.

All in all I would not recommend this phone to anyone. There are definitely better phones out there than this one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I didn't like that you always had to delete messages (very annoying). I did however like that you can search the web while talking on the phone. It had a loud ringer...which I liked as well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ConnG submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

At first, I had a really crappy phone that would loose its bars within a day, so it got extremely annoying to charge so I never really used it much. Now that I have the LG Xenon, My phone is ahead of its time. This phone has a TV plan, an Internet plan, a GPS plan, and so many more! I'd say this phone is even better than the droid. I use this phone all the time now!

-pros: the full qwerty keyboard slides perfectly. has a pressure sensitive touch screen, so u can use a stylus. Comes with several free game demos. I get great reception whether I'm at home 20 miles away from Baltimore, In New York visiting my brother, or in the middle of no where deep in South Carolina at my grandmother's. costs about 20-30 dollars when your contract expires. Has a qwerty keyboard and a touch screen.

-cons: 1.75cm thick. That's about it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ladiijay146 submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for almost a year now, i originally had the Impression, but returned it for the Xenon. At first, i didn't have many complaints, but as time went by the problems started. Alot of times, it'll freeze up and I'll have to pop the battery out and turn it back on. Then it takes quite sometime to get back up and running. I have small hands, there are times when i hit the wrong things on the screen, the precision seems a little skewed. After about 3 months, i needed another charger, so i went to AT&T and bought another for $30. About 2 months later, i had to get yet another one, i didn't think it was worth the money so i went to Walmart. Sometime between there i had to purchase another, i recently bought a 4th charger. There shouldn't be a reason that this phone is eating chargers. I finally took my phone to the store and they said i needed another charger and it wasn't the phone. Recently, it's been telling me my memory is full, however everything is on my memory card. I did a master reset and for now things are fine. Another thing i recently encountered is my battery life has dropped tremendously. I'm beginning to think that my phone is never fully charged. I can be on the phone for 40 minutes and it'll beep in my ear that its dying.
I enjoyed the phone quite a bit when i first got it, however i think its time for a change. It's not designed to last more than a month. I think i got lucky!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Laydopotato submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone was nice for a while, but then the glitches began to show and the little quirks from the beginning became major annoyances.

First of all, the menus on the phone are difficult to navigate and the touch screen really should have a stylus to use because even with small fingers there is too much error.

When texting in conversation view, you can't type and read the previous message at the same time, and if you happen to have your phone set to a different time than the other user, the message order may be scrambled (as my clock is set to my work, it is a few minutes fast so this this becomes very annoying). Another thing that bugs me is that although there are a ton of shortcuts on the QWERTY keyboard that are very convenient, you still have to use the touchscreen to send the message.

After only a couple of months I began having difficulty with the phone shutting itself off when I use the slider (both opening and closing it), but I figured out that I could just do it very slowly and carefully without issue. Until now. Now it just shuts itself off randomly. Also, the screen freezes and won't change orientation so you can't type on the keyboard.

Despite having an 8G memory card in it, it has no memory to store texts so after a few messages you have to delete them. I have also had extreme difficulty with memory for video and at one point it only let me shoot for 15 seconds.

The sound quality on it seems to be okay and I haven't gotten any complaints. I don't use the internet on it so I don't know how well the browser works or anything.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I love the touch screen, and i LOVE the design and full body, but when it comes to having reliability, it STINKS! Well, I've had mine since Feb. 12, and it's May 28th, and it's frozen about 30+ times. And, it turns off sometimes. About to get a 2nd one. But, i got a BAD feeling about it. I'm worried. But, I'm going to get a different phone if it does the same thing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mslh84 submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I've worked for a cell phone company for over 2 years now, nearly 3 and this phone doesn't impress me. This is my 2nd Xenon btw.

Pros:
Battery life is excellent, with the amount of texting I do, lasts about 3 days.
Threaded messaging and conversation view is awesome...ym without using data another plus.
Calls are clear. Bluetooth is good. Camera quality is pretty good for the megapix. I love the different effects and settings for pictures, and that you can edit.

Cons:Starting with physical.
QWERTY keyboard:When closing the keyboard phone shuts off, happens at least once a day, and has occured maximum so far up to 6 times a day.
Speakerphone:On the back, kind of irritating, having to turn the phone over to hear, and if I have a case I have to take it off, or out.
Outside:The blue around the outside has came off, I can snap it back on but still...
YM:Before I can sign in it usually times out 2 or 3 times. I do not have this issue on the pc.
Media Mall:Disgrace, it take 3-5 minutes before it loads, and by that time, I'm so irritated, I quit, I rely on third party services that come in much faster then AT&Ts premium services.
Messaging:Love the threaded text messaging, and conversation view, but...I was not able to send the entire conversation to my email...I needed to do this for personal reasons, and was not able to do so, and now having to go through a subpoena to accomplish this.
Pictures:The option to create a folder is avialable but have yet to figure out how to move anything into the folder...I certainly do not like features I can't use.

Also, I was disappointed that I did not receive any sort of case, or anything other then a phone charger for what I paid for this phone. I've bought a more basic phone and received twice as many accessories.

Needless to say, I am in the process of getting a warranty exchange...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

enlelisa submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

LG, (not AT&T) have made this phone to lack stellar reception when compared to other phones from AT&T. I live in rural Massachusetts and have never had reception problems before through AT&T, and I have had them since they were Cellular One in the late 90's.

In contrast, I was in BJ's Wholesale Warehouse where there is usually zero reception and this phone worked just fine. Go figure.

There are two more things that I am less than satisfied about with this phone. One is that the Mobile Email Feature does not include a GMAIL client. However, simply going on Media Net and entering Http://www.Gmail.Com. then your information, and saving your password settings, will allow you to check your Gmail account quite readily and with minimal effort.
The only other thing that really drives me nuts (but not enough to return the phone), is that some website's fonts are so small that they literally CANNOT be read. I am an infrequent user of the net on my phone so the ones I chose to visit, specifically Facebook, did not have this problem. To add, most are equipped with a magnify feature which allows you to zoom in on the text so you can readily see it.
Why I purchased this phone is simple . . . I did not want to have to pay an additional 15 dollars for my data package, and have no real need for a "Smart Phone." I had the Blackjack II, which was always accessing the internet accidentally, so when I had this feature disabled, I was no longer allowed to send or receive ANY multimedia messages, despite my unlimited messaging package. Moreover, I wanted an LED flash on the camera, and this comes with a nice one, and very decent 2 MP picture quality. It is rather fragile, so I would not recommend it for teenagers.
It does not come with a USB adapter or headsets, but if you look online, they run pretty cheap. Also, the charge portal is at the top of the phone, so it is a bit difficult to talk and charge, but it charges quickly.
Texting is A++. Great overall phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

phonelover730 submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I'm shocked to see all these negative comments about this phone. I've had this phone for a while now, and it's been working perfectly. Everywhere I go people always ask me about it because it's definitely eye catching (the red one).

PROS:
-Great camera with flash, terrific quality
-Excellent reception!!!
-Good battery life, and doesn't take long to charge
-Touch screen is easy to use and fun, hard to keep my fingers off it!
-TV, internet, games, and music available on it
-Lots and lots of tools (unit conversion, stopwatch, etc.) for your everyday needs, WAY more than any other phone I've ever owned
-TONS of photo editing options to make your photos fancy, it's like i'm using Picasa!
-Lots of menu and settings options, you can pretty much control everything
-Texting is super easy with slide out QWERTY keyboard
-Slide out keyboard does not feel cheap, and the screen never froze when switching to a horizontal position
-Stylish and attention drawing
-Feels very lightweight

CONS:
I don't really have any, but I think the screen can be a little bigger and the phone can be thinner, similar to the physical design of the Samsung Impression. This phone is so totally worth it. It's stylish and very functional. PERFECT:)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kharv29rcr submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had my phone for almost 5 months now. I baby all my phones and electronics so my phone still looks brand new.

PROS:
I like the touch screen, very responsive

The camera and flash is great for a cell phone plus the editing features are great

Call quality is pretty good where I live (out in the country in West Virginia)

I love the keyboard, spaced out just right so I can type well and I have big fingers

I really like the color and basic look of the phone

I thought the menus were very clear and easy to navigate

CONS:
I would have to say that my only con is the music player... I had a SLVR with itunes before this and loved it... for some reason my music will not go onto my phone to be played in the music player, it will only go into the audio folder. The guy at AT&T told me he had no idea why it did that. I do have around 100 songs on it, but nothing else will go on and I bought a 4GB sd card basically for the music

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tonkatuff submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

We got this phone for our 14 year old son. The second day he had it he dropped it and put a chip on the side then his case came in the mail the next day our luck! Well he has had the phone for three months now with no other damage but for the past week it's been giving him fits the touch screen wont always work he has to put it on speaker phone to use it and the keys freeze up. We tried to see if they would warranty it but they refused due to the chip, It didn't matter that it's worked up untill now with the chip. I think that is how they get out of having to replace a bad phone any marks on the phone voids the warranty. I f you are thinking about this phone for a teenager I would keep looking! My boy is not real hard on anything I know he dropped it but who has not dropped the phone they have? It just shows me the phone is cheap and not reliable for everyday use. Other than the one chip it looks new! Cheap Cheap thats what i think of the phone and would not tell anyone to get one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

So the user in the first part of the reviews saying that AT&T wouldnt switch their phones out after 3 times is out right a lie or you just didnt try hard enough.

PROS
easy to use
text message chat log
great camera
internet is great
lots of other things

CONS
hard to unlock and lock with one hand
easy to push the internet button when typing out text messages

Overall this phone has been really nice so far and I think a lot of the software issues have been updated now.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mickeymom02 submitted this review of the LG Xenon GR500:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I read of problems w/screen freezing are cuz users have a case w/magnetic closure. Can be fixed by running case/magnet all over the phone (de-gaussing?). And changing to a case w/o magnet. I'm glad I learned that before purchase.

PROS:
QWERTY sized for S-M hands
Phone small enough to fit easily in pants pocket or small purse pocket
MICRO SD Card up to 16GB
Like ENV Touch, slightly less sophisticated
Fairly intuitive menus/settings
Lightweight
Good touchscreen (better than Samsung Impression, IMO)
Dedicated keys: @, ?, .com, CAPS, arrows, contacts
Easy-2-see lettrs/#'s
During call, can use menu/dialpad to enter numbers (for phone menus, entering extensions, making 2nd calls, conferencing, etc.)

CONS:
USB cable NOT included
No Gmail client
Browsing not very intuitive & slow compared to ENV Touch
BACK key only on screen--middle hard key is a weird task key

I guess the PROS outweigh CONS at this point. Pretty good little phone for casual to medium users of text/data. Those wanting a robust browser for lots of surfing should check out Samsung Solstice or Impression, iPhone, Blackberry, or Verizon's ENV Touch (which is like the big brother to Xenon).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
