shalimarlee submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I gave this phone a 1.5 only because I love all the features of this phone but am on my 3rd one. I have had more trouble with this than it is worth in the long run. It first started freezing and shuting down on it's own. to the point where I had to take the battery out and put it back in for it to turn back on. That's the first time I sent it back. They sent me a brand new one in the mail. The next set of problems started occuring almost immediatly. This phone started dropping calls like crazy. Now, I am not sure if this was the phone or the service but I had this company for 7 years with no issues before. I couldn't make a call with out having to call the person back 3-4 times in one conversation. Very frustrating. It got so bad that a friend told me not to call her until I got this situation under control. So I called the company they sent me my 3rd phone. just a week ago. Lol, Wow really #3? this is getting ridiculous. Just yesterday the phone shut down on it's own and I could do nothing to turn it back on. Mean while I was in the middle of a phone conversation. what the heck? so annoyed at this point. Just today I dropped 4 times in one conversation and couldn't reach my friend at all after that. I am over it. shuting down dropping calls forget about it! NEVER AGAIN! I will not recieve a 4th one I tell ya that!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I hope they make a new one before this one is discontinued. I have a 3 in one device, talk, take a picture and video record.

Pros
8MP camera and video recorder
touch screen is easy to use
the MP3 player is off the chain
-able to make different files for different playlist.
talk time...great
able to do functions while on the phone

Cons
No block list
not able to send videos if too large

This is the best phone that I've had since going wireless. Its perfect for me. I would get another one with an upgrade.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sammniamii submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros:
-Great camera - 8mp, it takes better pictures than my 7.2mp Samsung camera
-Solid feeling - both in hand and touch screen
-Good battery life - typically lasts 2 days w/ moderate use
-Good call reception & INTERNET (3G)
-Customizable features
-Quick access to microSD card - can be used as "USB memory" stick w/ USB cable

Cons:
-No psychical keyboard - touchscreen only
-Can be hard to hear, built-in music player needs headphones (which are NOT 3.5 jack or even MicroUSB)
-Can not install 3rd party apps - limited to built in widgets
-No direct PC sync - samsung hasn't released workable software (100%)
-Internet browser can be buggy, Facebook & Myspace do not remember password, requiring sign-in each time
-Video recording can be splotchy

I bought this phone about 3 months after it's release. I wanted a high end camera phone that also offered some INTERNET - this fit the bill to a tee. The no keyboard thing took a bit to get used to and I still can't txt while driving (and I shouldn't - its not safe). I LOVE THE CAMERA functions on this phone. It's a Camera pretending to be a phone. It has some built in online uploaders (Flicker, Snapfish), auto re-sizes the pictures for messaging, flash... this phone takes better pictures than my Samsung Camera.

But... you can't download new apps (limited to built in widgets), the music player needs spkrs or headphones to enjoy (which are shaped like the charger port, which it shares - NO 3.5 jack), the web browser works, but barely and you can't sync to the PC. The software suite from Samsung (download from site) doesn't support the phone 100%. The video function works, but it's not up to the basic HD camcorders and can be choppy.

If you want PICTURES, then yes, this is the perfect camera phone for you. It will introduce you to quasi-smartphone (which it is NOT) usage and get you online.

If you want internet, apps, and/or good music, then go for another phone (MyTouch, Behold 2, Nexus).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mdaniels4 submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I just wanted a really solid phone when I switched from V'zon to Tmo as my wife and I went with a family plan. I had the LG Chocolate flip before and really liked it for call quality etc. Finally found this one and have had it 3 months now.

Pro's: the batt life has been fine-usually get about 2 days of standby-I'm not a heavy user, so would suspect it would be alot shorter than I experience, but it's fine

The phone has a nice heft to it and feels good in my hands.

Ringer volume is fine, although the vibrate is not strong enough for me

Touchscreen is nice and smooth, and I've had no issues at all.

Cons: the only thing I'm not crazy about is the speaker tone-sounds a bit 'tinny' to me, but I've experienced that with every Samsung I've tried. LG and others are much better. The sound is loud enough, the call quality overall is fine

I don't want a web phone, this one can, but i don't care, I don't want to access email or anything else, and I don't do alot of texting, but it's been ok for that too. Basically, just a good all around touch screen phone and I've been very pleased with it for what I want it to do

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The camera is awesome and has many nice features. The phone also looks good.

Con's:

I bought this phone and had to return it twice because of glitches. On the display of all the pictures something weird happened with the phone and half of the thumbnails either didn't show up or turned into a colorful static. Once you clicked on one the picture would come up just fine though. The ringtone volume is not loud enough. With the rubber protective sleeve on it the phone is quite large, but without it the camera can be easily damaged. Lastly, like most samsung phones, the plastic piece you have to pull up to plug the phone charger in is quite flimsy and could easily be broken.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

awashi submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I have been using this for a couple of weeks now and sadly, I am returning it. The camera takes outstanding pictures for a phone.

Pro's-
Easy menu system
Loud speaker
Weather widget
Music player
8mp camera

Cons-
Messaging- no threaded text messaging
Pic messaging takes a long time to get to the recipient
Predictive text is horrible
Email is not sufficient
Web browsing is slow
3g is slow
Ringtones are soft
No updates

The phone is a nice feature phone. I was looking for a decent camera phone and ran across this for tmo. Unfortunately, it's proprietary OSis horrible and so 2002, that it takes a lot away from the handset. I could have used this phone as a daily talker, but there were too many small things that bothered me. I'm using my unlocked iPhone to write this review, and although I could have possibly done the same thing on the memior, it would have been a nightmare.
If you aren't used to smartphones this phone may be a worthy upgrade for you. I loved the camera, but it's not enough for me to keep it. In fact the video recording ony iPhone 3g beat the samsung memoir in terms of playback sound and clarity of video.

I do recommend this phone for the user who has not used capacitive touch screens.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I make many mistakes when trying to text and accidentally send it when I'm trying to delete and retype.

I use this phone for work and I have to text because it keeps dropping calls or the sound quailty is awful but with the awful text keyboard I have to end up using some else's phone.

The only thing that this phone has going for it is the camera.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

suerte85 submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

As a Blackberry user for three years, it took me a while to fall head over heels for this phone. I had to get used to not being notified as soon as I get an email, but I think that's a good thing, not being "connected" 24/7. Overall, this is the best phone I've ever had, and I've had a lot of phones in the past. I love how my purse has extra room now that I don't have to bring an extra camera whenever I go out.

Minor Cons
-No copy and paste. But that's okay, it just keeps your mind sharp ;)
-Lack of cool applications/widgets like for the iPhone. But then again, this phone is fairly new, so it's understandable. Patience is a virtue lol

Pros
-Everything else.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

goracer submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for a month and extremely reluctantly am returning it because of lack of WiFi. I have a HotSpot@Home contract and overages on my bill pushed me over the edge to return. There is a learning curve to the touch screen. At first you will be frustrated opening everything except what you want. A plus is the auto screen lock otherwise being in your pocket (or purse) anything will touch the screen. The camera is amazing and being able to use picture caller id is fun. I still haven't figured out how to send to flickr and photobucket for free though. Once you get the feel for it scrolling through and using the touch screen is easy even the keyboard which you can rotate for texting. You can convert videos to MP4 then transfer to your phone then rotate it for widescreen and play at the gym (my fav thing). My battery just died right now and I literaly have three mini USB cables on my desk and can't use them to charge the phone, uhg. The perfect phone would be HTC Touch Diamond v2 but that is a Euro phone and most likely go to Sprint if it makes it here at all.

Cons:
1. Video, MP3 and phone (especially with vibe feedback) kills the battery quickly.
2. Does not use universal mini USB plug.
3. No Wifi

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Veni Vici submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

...I got the phone 3 days ago & yes the camera is really great! Battery life, I'm not sure yet as I've been playing w/it a lot to set everything but I'm not yet excited about it (1.5 day at best).

Here are my CONS:
-Not loud enough, especially w/the in phone ring tones.
-You can't cut & past text (as I've grown to do with Motorollas).
-The phone-book doesn't allow you to store multiple phone numbers of a same category. 1 cell #, 1 home #, 1 work # & 1 other.
-THIS IS THE BIG ONE: You cannot send text messages to an email address. An MMS yes, but not a text. And even with the MMS, you have to manually enter the email address although it's in your phone-book. When you select a RECEPIENT, it selects as default the CELL #. At least if you could CUT & PASTE it would help, but you pretty much have to know the email address by heart of write it down somewhere 1st.

I light of that, I'm not yet sure whether I'll be keeping it or not.

But honestly, aside from the latter CON (which is a BIG one for me), the phone is great. I guess I've had Motorollas for so long that some functions became common sense to me. I would've loved to stay with Motorolla, but T-Mobile has yet to get cool new ones.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Other than that the 8mp camera pretty much makes up for all the flaws this phone has.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Touch screen, Great pics. when i go into tmobile store to make a payement they aske everytime how it is going with the new phone and my words are Phone is great (they know me from the problems with my previous phone) i am picky and want things to work. if it is a text phone it should text if it is supposed to send and recieve pics it needs to send and recieve pics. and this one does it all. only one little glitch i have ever had. that is if it is at 8.1 and i take a pic and try to send it. sometimes it does send the picture distorted (like puzzle that was put together wrong). sure it is just a tiny glitch compaired to the awsome work they have done with it. when i lower it to 5.1 it sends it fine. but it has a memory card so you can pull it out of your phone and place the pics on your computer and send them that way too. very sturdy. like the feel of it in hand. is easy to get attached and used to this phone..
Highly recommended... Oh ya also battery for me lasts several days on standby. if i am on it it can use it up but still lasts longer than most phones i have owned. only thing that really uses up the battery i have noticed is the telenav. but that is expected.

hope this helps those who are thinking about this phone.
Great phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

At first, I was very disappointed that it did not have wi-fi. However, 3G and edge are extremely fast infact, I found that the phone loads faster than my previous phone... the G1 with wi-fi. It's well made, classy and attractive, James Bond would definately own this phone! I've loaded full length movies on it (via SD card), mp3s, and taken quality pictures with it. I am very picky in regards to phone ability and quality...this phone I highly recommend.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

skumkitty submitted this review of the Samsung Memoir SGH-T929:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone since release date. Still not many people know about it. I bought it mainly for the camera. In the past 3 months I have had the Behold, the g1, the wing, and the shadow. None of them impressed me. Only thing cool about the G1 is the open source network. Which I am sure there is a way to get cool programs on the memoir. The camera is the best on the market. You wouldn't pay more then 250 or less for a camera like this supplies, and to have the added phone and internet is simply genius. The behold was a pos. To my understanding they updated it a little and are shipping them out to customers that complain about the battery life.

Pros

8.1 MP camera with 16x zoom. smile detection and blink detection.

3G which you don't really need because t mobiles edge network is still really fast.

Loud speaker, great for if your just cleaning the house with no other radio and need some noise or walking home from work and you want to be the annoying guy that makes everyone listen to music lol.

Battery life has last longer then the behold and g1, which is great if your filmier with those 2 and the memoir's gps and 3g are continuously on

This is a great one that most people don't know.... It can hold up to a 16 gb memory card which is technically needed if you take a lot of pics because the quality of the pics makes them wallpaper size.

on screen keyboard is great not only its great touch response but its ability to return to a old school number pad which some people including myself can type better on. Also you can turn your vibration touch response up fully in settings ;-)

cons

Non custom browser uses t zones. YUK lol
Its really t mobiles way of saying Nope we haven't created a browser yet and your going to have to use the same technology as when edge just came out.

Lack of downloading programs like myspace mobile, facebook mobile and a email service.

Really though the phone is pretty amazing and there are no problems.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I took lkie 100 pics with it yesterday and it does so much better than my 8megapix polaroid. Some things are a little more complicated than my black berry pearl but it is definately an upgrade. It is way better than the g-1. The only thing I dont like is battery power, if you talk or use the internet a lot definately buy a carcharger and take a charger to work with you.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has features galore and I am enjoying getting use to it. I was never a big fan of Samsung but am impressed. If the music player was better I would be even happier. I waited a long time for this phone and I'm not dissappointed. The negatives are all minor things I could live with.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
