tgc1980 submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is awesome. Coming from an 8320, anything's a step up.

Cons:
I wish I could get Blackberry 6 on it.

Pros:
Good reception
Excellent camera
Little-to-no slowness.
E-mail doesn't miss a beat.
Everything else......

I'll cherish this till it breaks or I can afford the upcoming 9780 Bold for T-Mobile. I'm sure this will be more than fine until then.

God Bless
tgc1980

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I never had any problems out of it until like almost a month later...people said I sounded muffled. Then after that...they couldn't hear me! But other than that SMALL thing...it was great!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jameshar submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This is my first Blackberry and an initial review after 2 weeks use.
PROs: Sleek and excellent size and weight. Camera gives good results, especially close ups. Importing calendar, notes and contacts from Palm Treo worked. Phone functionality is good and responsive (so far). Network connections and options worked well internationally.
CONS: I would have preferred the new track sensor in place of the trackball, however I've had no major problems with the trackball; still adjusting to the amount of pressure needed to click. Camera and video do not handle back-lighting well, just learning how to lock in and hold focus and exposure, then move to frame the picture.
I have not installed any APPS yet.
FYI: I turned in an iPhone (after 2 weeks) to get this phone and am glad I did; my Windows PC and the iPhone just did not speak enough of the same language. Nor did it like my Palm data.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sage11x submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Blackberry 8900 v4.6.1.114 on T-Mobile
Owned for 6+ months
Last 5 phones used: BB Bold 9000, Blackberry Pearl 8110, Blackberry Curve 8310, iphone 3G, iphone (OG), Samsung Blackjack II.

What can I say about this phone that hasn't already been said? If you've ever had a BB before you'll know that RIM makes, arguably, the best and most functional business phones on the market. The curve takes this world-class business phone know-how and packages it in an undeniably sleek and sexy wrapper with enough media functionality and power to challenge the recent flood of "smart" phones.

PROS:
I count myself as a fan of the original Pearl design for it's combination of functionality and pocket friendliness. This Curve is barely wider and yet still finds enough room for a comfortable full-qwerty thumbboard and high-res widescreen. Battery-life is excellent (phone spends half it's day in UMA) and the phone is snappy when navigating menus and browsing media as well as opening email/attachments. Camera quality is above-average compared to most other phones I've used; speakerphone/audio quality is excellent as well-- almost on par with my BOLD and much better than any of the iphones I've owned.

CONS:
The Curve 8900 was released before RIM went to the optical touch key now used on the Curve 8500 series and Bold 9700-- and that's a shame. While the trackball is easy-to-use and responsive it is also a point of failure on previous BBs I've owned and only time will tell if this version fares any better. Stranger is that the 8900s replacement, the Curve 8520, which HAS the optical mouse is actually a step DOWN in features!

The only other complaint I can level against the 8900 is it's lack of 3G. While I personally don't miss this function for my use (and based on the Bolds performance, chose to avoid it on my current BB) I can see this as a deal-breaker for most. Especially considering you pay the same data rate as those customers with access to the extra bandwith.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has been sent back twice for warranty repair and is about to go again: 2 months after purchase the track ball did not want to work most of the time â€" repaired, 4 months later crazy software issues that would not allow for software reload â€" repaired, it’s 2 months since I got it back and it has to go again for the same software issues and the trackball is going â€" I’m less than impressed and wish I still had my old 8310. Other people have had great luck with this device I am just not one of them.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Has an automatic lomo effect.
-The keyboard is easy to use; soft and easy to push.
-Slick and thin looking.
-Internet shows the full site layout rather than using a mobile layout.
-Cool games come with it.
-Has a lot of timer/clock options.
-Great flashlight in the dark!
-MSN is fun to use with it!

CONS:
-Using the cursor on the Internet is sometimes boring and takes long.
-Feels too epic, you might drop it.
-The screen is like a Windows Vista. Be careful with it. No glass cover.
-Butt dials a lot but what doesn't?
-The main layout is boring.
-Semi heavy.

Overall, I really like it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I didn't get regular reception inside my house and was a lil upset but I switched over to wifi and loving it. The phone is simple and not overly complicated to use. Finally a BB I'm satisfied with.

Pros: WiFi and battery life
Cons: Haven't had it long enough to figure it out

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

patwin2008 submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I've had a lot of phones (BB Curve 8320, Bold, Tour, iPhone, iPhone 3G, G1, Tour, and many lower end phones), but the Curve 8900 is by far the best phone I've ever owned!! The interface is flawless, the screen resolution is immaculate, it has the best camera quality I've ever seen (aside from the Memoir), and its incredibly reliable. The only gripe I have about this phone is the inevitable lag. (I guess I can add 3G as a gripe, but 3G is never as good as people make it out to be...completely overrated). Once you get passed that one (or 2) problems, this is a great phone. BEST T-MOBILE PHONE TO DATE!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

gerryrules73 submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This Blackberry is the best one I ever had. I was at an AT&T store at a local mall and a customer highly recommended it to me and I am impressed thus far.

I switched from Verizon Wireless to AT&T due to the reception I was getting at my basement apartment and in my new area that I moved to. I also get a 10% discount on my monthly phone bill as opposed to 6% with my employer. With Verizon, I had the Blackberry Curve and EnV touch. I did not like the Verizon Curve but I did like the EnV Touch. Unfortunately, I switched due to the reception and dropped calls in my area w/Verizon.

Here are my pros:
* Ease of access to both of my e-mail accounts and Facebook accounts
* Crystal clear calls. No reception problems thus far. (even in a basement apt)
* Nice camera-3.2 MGs
* QWERTY keyboard is better than the old Curve that I had.
* Battery life is much better. I get a good 2-4 days of mild usage. (The Verizon Curve I would have to charge every day)
* Plenty of apps
* Good calendar

Cons:
None thus far

Trust me, you will be convinced w/this phone. I'm liking it very much.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Austexan submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I upgraded from the curve to this and what a disappointment! The only positive gain is the display - clean and crisp. Everything else a major disappointment. This phone lags terribly when switching between apps, and hangs on the most ridiculous of tasks. Try changing your background image and periodically the phone freaks out with the hour glass going as if it were performing some difficult task.

Inetnet on this - WORTHLESS. It is slower than my first 1200 baud modem. The internet is essentially a useless feature. Getting around a page, once it opens, is much more tedious and nerve wracking than with most phones. And without 3G face it - the internet is not really a viable option on a cell phone.

It is going back today. Thanks T-Mobile for having the foresight to give us a 15 day return period.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bamaboyblue submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

pros:
1. battery life is excellent.
2. keyboard is accurate and ergonomic. this is a matter of personal preference. but, i don't like touch screen keyboards, they have all disappointed me. give me chiclets any day.
3. display is brilliant and crisp.
4. uma and wifi work great even using wpa2.
5. has a professional appearance so i can use it at the office without appearing to have a toy, i.e. iphone, g1.
6. edge performs reliably and is plenty fast, i have no problems watching videos on youtube or anywhere else i visit.
7. excellent camera, the auto focus works very well.
8. blackberry os is very intuitive and customizable with plenty of available apps.
9. feature set is very rich. you name it, 8900 has it.

cons:
1. is not 3g. but, that is negated by reliability of edge and benefit of wifi + uma.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tekneeq84 submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I previously owned the blackberry bold and it was a really good phone however I like the form factor of the blackberry 8900 a lot better. The phone fits in your hand nicely and still has the same sex appeal as the bold.

Pros-

-Nice form factor, sleek design, fits well in hand

- very nice camera at 3.2 mp, with flash

-screen is very hi def looking, very crisp

-very powerful yet lightweight phone

Cons-

-I have experienced a few automatic resets with the phone, the phone blacked out a few times but reset the phone and now works fine.

-lag time in camera operation. about a 3-5 second delay from the time you click the camera button from the time it actually takes a picture

other than those few cons the phone is great, a definite must have for business people. I prefer this phone over the bold because the bold is big and bulky, and honestly i like the keypad better on the 8900 than the bold, seems to give better travel and feedback.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

They've always been pretty I never saw the point in having a blackberry because they seemed to confusing and I didn't really have a need for a phone like that.

I was with verizon for about three years and decided to go with AT&T just because alot of my friends have it and verizon couldn't keep up with my demand for phones haha.

With college coming up I figured why not go with a blackberry with the deal they were offering me. ITS GREAT!!!!!!!!

Pros:
1.Very nice looking, not heavy or bulky like others.
2.Does everything you could think of! really...if you get the data plan it's worth it...email, web surfing, everything a PC does this can do in the palm of your hand.
3.3.2 Megapixel camera, with FLASH!
4.EVERYTHING

If you buy this phone it is well worth the price, it may be a little prices but you had the world literally at your finger tips with this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dgarise submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

The first thing you notice about this phone are the looks, the screen, finishing, everything -- its beautiful and it is one of the lightest smartphones out there in the market. There were some complaints about how the back cover looks cheap.. not really, I think its fine.

The UMA feature where the phone uses WIFI instead of mobile network is great. I found the signal quality to be pretty good in south San Jose.. no dropped calls or dropped packets and voice quality is excellent (FYI: I was with VZW for 2 yrs).

Battery is very good. Only hardcore users with continuous BT, WIFI and media usage might have to charge it every day.

Browser is good.. flash is missing I guess but overall it does a good job. Other features such as Camera (pics look very good), email, IM, texting, overall Set up etc are up to mark.

Also I'm a first time BB user and its not really big learning curve.. its fairly simple to use.. you only learn a few shortcuts over time.

Cons:

Be wary of the ringer.. sometimes u get a call but the phone doesn't ring or vibrate. I was late for an appointment like that.. alarm was on but there was no sound. Later I found out that it is in fact a problem with BB8900. Not a recurring one.. haven't had that problem again.

My main issue is with the vibrate profile... it is very very weak and it only vibrates 3 times with the original firmware. One can download a software to remove that limitation but the vibrate would still be very weak.

There is no external button to switch profiles between loud, vibe, silent etc... although # or Q key allows switch between just loud and vibrate.

Speakerphone has some distortion when on high volume setting -- problem only while driving.

3G is missing but its not that bad.. I don't miss it.

Other minor issues include Camera lag, lag when you click on media icon, SD card slot is annoying.

Overall I think the pros easily outnumber the cons. I love the phone and I would definitely recommend it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Joshinsea submitted this review of the BlackBerry Curve 8900:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I was very hesitant on purchasing this phone. I really didn't want to use my up-grade on a blackberry that wasn't 3G. But I did. I honestly really like the phone. It is very beautiful. The screen is amazing on it. I had earlier this year switched to AT&T just for the BB Bold. After 25 days of dropped calls I switched back to T-Mobile. I am just a bit annoyed that T-Mobile has yet to release a 3G blackberry. The 8900, in my opinion is a great phone. But, it has some flaws...

**The reception on this phone is terrible. I drop calls in my bedroom all the time. In the many years I have lived here I have never, until now, dropped calls. I am usually running on 3 out of 5 bars. I am in the Seattle area where the signal is usually great.

As soon as I can I will be getting a different phone just for this reason. Its very annoying..

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
