knuckleballer34 submitted this review of the Motorola i576 / i576s:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone does a great job of combining the average mainstream cell phone with Nextel durability and direct connect. It's not as big (or maybe even tough) as the i580/i365, and its not as flashy or modern as the i9. Offering a little bit of both worlds is where it shines.

Pros:
1. Best battery life i've seen on a Nextel phone. It comes with an 1800 mah battery, so it packs a punch.
2. Regularly sized and fashionable. It's a normal size phone. Has a toolbox grid pattern on the front and back, but it's not obnoxious.
3. Tough and rugged. You can drop it, etc, etc, and it keeps on going.
4. Great call quality, sharp speakerphone. It almost goes without saying, direct connect works great too.
5. No message issues. Bright, colorful screen/keypad. Menu is sharp and responsive.
6. Reception is pretty good, although a couple of Nextel models outperform it (the i580 and i335 come to mind).

Cons:
1. Voicemail was a pain to set up on this thing. I had to call Nextel several times to get it right.
2. Has bluetooth, but distorts mp3 ringtones, and will not play midis. This isn't a real problem though, and isn't that necessary for an iDEN device.

I can't think of anything that I don't like about the phone. It's simple, basic, and reliable. It gives you full Nextel functions, and wraps it up in a nice looking, regular sized package. If your looking for a "normal" phone with Nextel service, this one's for you. As mentioned, it's not the most elegant, and might not be the toughest phone Nextel offers. But being somewhere in the middle is what makes it great.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Belial submitted this review of the Motorola i576 / i576s:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I work outdoors alot and I broke it within a month of purchasing it by using it in the rain it turned off in the middle of a call, and when I turned it back on the screen flickered and the speaker popped lol that was the end!! the other problem I had is that the phone looks rugged, but every time I dropped it the battery cover flew off and the battery flew out. another con I had was the display wasn't to easy to see in bright sunlight! also the reception sucked on this phone even compared to my i335 with internal antenna! only thing that I liked about this phone was battery life!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jstatus330 submitted this review of the Motorola i576 / i576s:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I was deciding between this or the i776 for a temp DC phone to keep in touch across the border for a more reasonable price. I paid the full retail price and am taking this thing back after Thanksgiving.

Pros - None

Cons - After you close the phone the back light on the front dims but never shuts off. You cannot disable this. Explain to me why Motorola has done this?

The screen is horrible at best. The DC constantly screws up in many different ways. I've never had the DC issues before with other Nextels. Maybe a bad batch?

It's built mil spec but I doubt it can handle much.

The back battery cover isn't tight enough as I like. It moves up and down slightly while holding the phone.

Horrible phone for texting both on the phone and networks part.

The list goes on. I'm going for a Samsung Rant.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rpd004 submitted this review of the Motorola i576 / i576s:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

PROS
Blue-tooth!
Military Spec.
Smaller than the i850
Telenav support (GPS nav.)
Sleck design
Direct Connect (PTT), etc.
Price (not too pricey)
END button is same as POWER button
2 icons on the outside of the flip show Blue-tooth and Envelop (Mail message) sign *blinking* if blue-tooth is active and unread voice/txt/sms message received
Outside LCD Screen stays dimly lit when not in use (always know the date, time, coverage, etc...)
Weighs a little less than the i850
Speaker is in the front bottom instead of on the back as the i850 was
Supports WiDEN

CONS
SIM card slot is hard to pull your SIM card out (be very carefeul!)
NO camera, a step backward from the i850
Flat Micro-USB connector (would prefer the more commonly known standard micro-USB connector)
Smaller screen than the i850
PTT button not as raised, a little difficult from phone.
Colors are 16-bit, a step backward from the 18-bit i850 ... but you can hardly tell a difference.
No EV-DO (but has WiDEN)

This was DEFINATLY worth the upgrade from my i850 (or even the i570). Much improved design, features, and I'm highly impressed with the Motorola for finally getting it right this time. A step in the right direction indeed ...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
