Father Nebro submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I've been using phones with qwerty keyboards and touch phones for the last 3 years and I found this phone to be a very refreshing throwback.

Pros:
-Call quality. I've never had a phone where I can hear the person I'm talking to more clearly.
-Overall feel of the phone. It just feels comfortable in your hand. While it's light it feels very sturdy and durable.
-2mp camera. Not the best camera but it does what you need it to, it also has self portrait mode(for those who love to take pictures of themselves)
-Mp3 player and ring tones. I keep this phone on the low volume setting b/c the ring tones are so loud. This is by all means a plus as LG's tend to not be very loud. Standard Mp3 interface which isn't bad.
-Big separated keys. I've been using phones with keyboards and the keys on this phone are so nice it allowed me to transition back to the number pad with ease.
-Shortcut keys. You basically get 7 shortcut keys with the directional pad. No complaints about more accessible shortcuts lol.

Cons
-Battery life. This is what brings the phone down by an entire point. 2-3 days with maybe an hour talk time and medium texting. Even if this phone had the extended battery it would take away from the general feel of the phone.
-The main screen somehow gets a very smudgy from something that never has to be touched
-I'm not sure if it's just my phone, but I seem to sometimes just not receive calls or texts. With texts they eventually show up but if you miss a call and nobody leaves a v-mail...you're kind of up the creek.
-Another problem that I have a lot is that the phone seems to just randomly reset itself. I know EnV's and Voyagers do this or just turn off, but it's very annoying. I hope that these problems are just my phone, but knowing VZW I have a suspicion that it's not.

I'm very happy with this phone and I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for their first phone or somebody who just appreciates a nice phone when they see one.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

SCGyrl2004 submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

When I first got this phone I absolutely LOVED IT!!! But then as time went by it started acting up. It would just cut off for no reason(even though it was fully charged). The battery life went down after time. I remember charging it one morning and by that afternoon it was dead(and I didn't even use it). With my other phones I knew when I was getting a call or text if I had the phone on vibrate. On this phone you would never know anything because the vibrate option is lousy. And Verizon sucks in my area. I can't make a call unless I either leave my house or go outside. So I am done with them and am switching to T-Mobile.

Pros:
The ability to see your text messages on the front screen(never had anything like that before)

MP3 player and the ability to charge your battery with your computer.

Cons:
Battery life
Cutting off for no reason
Only 4 color themes
Vibration is not that loud or noticeable
No reception whatsoever until I leave my house(not the phone's fault. Verizon is not very good in my area). The only thing I can do at my house is send a text.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The Chocolate 3 is leaps and bounds ahead of the Nokia and any of the Lg flips that are available through Verizon as to date. The Keypad is Large and allows this fat man to text with the greatest of ease. the camera is so so, but the Displays both inside and out are amazing. Readers Digest Version I LOVE This PHONE.

Pros
Large Keys
Great for Texting
Loud Ringer
Loud Earpiece
3.5mm Headset Jack
Media Player is Great

Cons
OS is a little slow
Camera Could be Better
Magnet for Fingerprints

The Chocolate 3 is a perfect phone for people who talk and text on the phone. If You want to surf the internet and check you email you really need to get a smart phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ronleon submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I wanted to really like this phone but had several problems with it. Loved the big crisp main display and hoped that I could enjoy the front display as well.

I went through THREE of these phones, all had the same problems. First, the bluetooth constantly disconnected for no reason. You'd be talking or not and you'd see the message "sounds transferred to phone." I also tried three different bluetooth devices. When it did work, the maximum bluetooth volume which is controlled by the phone was very low and difficult to hear.

The camera takes great pictures but if you take a picture from the front, with the flip closed, the picture is reversed! Mirrored! So if there is writing in your picture such as a sign or on a T-shirt, it will be backwards! They ALL do this and I haven't found ONE VZW employee that is aware of it.

PROS:
Great design
Sturdy
Great reception
Excellent music player
Standard 3.5mm headset jack

CONS:
Front camera takes mirrored pictures.
Bluetooth problems
Phone is slippery in your hands
Battery life average at best

I am now using a VX8360 and it's much better albeit a smaller display.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

JeremySaysRawr submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I wanted to love this phone, but I just couldn't! I've had it replaced 6 times...and Vzw still won't let my use the multi-fru to trade for something better.

Pros:

1) It's blue!
2) It's loud, and the vibrate is great.
3) The screens are great...also a con.

Cons:

1) Battery life sucks. One day from this phone where my RAZR got at least two, and my enV three with use of the web browser.
2) The screens...major fingerprint magnets, plus they are east to scratch.
3) It's so slow...really, really slow.
4) Battery overheats while charging...Vzw replaced the battery, the phone, the charger, every thing...and it still does it.
5) Big delay in receiving messages, anywhere and at anytime. Vzw blames it on where I live.
6) How about this, every few weeks, the battery dead-cells...for no apparent reason.
7)It likes to reboot itself. All five of them.
8) Sometimes, the space bar doesn't work, and T9 has a hard time remembering words.
9) It doesn't hold very many messages, so I constantly have to delete them.
10) Constant failed sending of txt messages.

I could really go on and on, but this is just a horrid phone. Stay away!!!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Julius submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for a good month or two, and I can't find much as far as CONs go, other than when I open my phone it'll take a second or two for the screen to appear. That and that lock button on the side a real pain in the butt!

Other than that, I love this phone, it rocks! I'm gonna say the same thing about this phone that I've said about the prior Chocolate models: Basically an iPod with a keypad. I've never owned a Chocolate until now. And actually, by chance I wound up owning one. After I had gone through SEVEN VX8700s, well, let's just say that me and VZW had come to a compromise, and I'd gotten the Chocolate 3 to make up for the inconvenineces-basically a free upgrade. The rest, as they say, is history!

PROs:
Standard sized earphone jack,
Access to messages, camera, calendar, music, and pix without having to open the phone,
Sturdy rubber back,
Easy access for your micro SD card,
Very loud and clear speakers (you can barely recognize it at the bottom of flip),
Album art/visualizer with the phone either open or shut,

This phone had me sold and it didn't even cost me a dime! And just to think, I was about to sever my ties to LG because of the lemon VX8700 that I've had on seven different occasions (I've learned my lesson to get what's recommended by LG from that point on).

I look forward to a Chocolate 4 and hopefully it'll be a touch screen. I'll give credit where it's due (if I haven't done so already about this phone), this phone's reception is as clear as diamonds, literally! Even with no signal, I can still hear who I'm talking to!

Although I never owned either one of the 1st two Chocolate phones (and they were sliders at that), this flip-phone version was a switch as well as an attention getter!

I love my Chocolate. I'm spoiled rotten by it!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Intheloonybin submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for 2 months now, and am glad I bought it. It replaces a Samsung U540. My wife has the Chocolate 2, and I don't care for her phone (she loves it). I prefer the flip of the "3".

PROS:

-Love all of the music options. Use the phone's speakers, stereo bluetooth, transmit to a FM radio.
-Love the buttons for texting. I have big hands/fingers, and small keys don't work for me.
-They put the voice command button in spot that I don't hit all the time.
-I love the size/feel of the phone. It doesn't feel light/chinsey.
-Great screen for internet use.
-Plug in antenna port. Was one of the options that was a must. It is my business line, and I have a booster/antenna set up for when we camp. Always have service.
-Good playlist set up.

CONS:

The battery cover comes off too easily. Especially if you remove it from the belt holder when wearing a winter coat.

Have to put ringer volume here. It is freakishly loud- even on the lowest setting. I bought a quieter ringtone due to this, and it still scares the crap out of me when it rings. Find myself using vibrate more often now.

Vibrate is kind of weak. It would be nice if they offered varying levels of vibrate on phones. I miss the phones that would start on vibrate, then ring progressively louder.

The FM transmitter is weak- The FCC's fault, not the phone's. Works ok in our van that has the ant. at the top of the windshield. Not so great in my truck, where the ant. is on the hood on the passenger side.

When it the battery starts to get low, LOOK OUT! Not much notice before dying, and the last bar or two drop very quickly.

ON THE FENCE:

It has pretty good reception. Not quite as good as the Samsung it replaced, but am satisfied.

Hard to open flip with one hand. You get used to it. I open it with my lower lip. Sounds funny, but works. :o)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

michcarguy submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for about 3 months now and have been very satisfied with it.
The phone definitely lives up to its name for music playback. Has great external speakers (altho a little tinny sometimes), the FM transmitter works great if you find an unused station.

The displays are both clear and bright. The external display is very large and easy to use with the scrollwheel below. The external display options are great and very convenient, especially when receiving messages and viewing missed calls.

The internal display is huge and very bright. The auto-bright display works very well. The keypad is large and easy to see with the white background and very easy to text with.

Verizon finally got it right and included some different menu displays. There are 4 different menus and when playing music, the highlighted option will show a moving line which is unique and fun.

The cons with the phone would be that sometimes when sending a message the phone will freeze up which requires pulling the battery out and restarting. (horrible after typing a huge message)

Unless you have had LG phones before, the send and end buttons may be a little more hard to find since they are the same white color as the rest of the keys.

The blue version of the Chocolate3 did not get the rubbery back like the black version has.

The external display is clear, but is not as clear as internal. pictures are a little more choppy and rugged then the internal display. If you like to sleep in complete darkness, choose a dark background on the external display or flip the phone over when charging, this phone will light up an entire room at night.

Overall, this phone is great. As with any phone, it has its pros and cons, but definitely a great phone with great sound and reception quality. Two great displays make this phone standout from those tiny displays we are used to. Definitely a music player with great options for playback.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mk7se submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

Let me preface this review by saying that I was with Sprint for 5 years before switching to Verizon. I worked for them so... I always thought that Verizon had better phones and service because they were number one and all of my friends were on the "V". After leaving the company, I switched to V because of the afore-mentioned reason of all my friends and family were on it and I would use less billing-minutes. I was using 3,000-4000 minutes a month.

Let me say I couldn't be more disappointed. I got the Chocolate 3 as it was very close to my Muziq.
The phone is such a disappointed as far as features and menu.
When I am on a call it sounds like I am in a tube and I can kinda hear myself in my ear-piece.
The sweet spot for the ear-piece is very small. If you move it around, even a little, you can't hear.
People I am talking to sound like they are drunk or there is a "drawl" in their voice.
The headset jack is a 3.5 mm. I don't use my phone as an mp3 player that much. I want to use it as a phone. I also don't use Blue-tooth so I have no idea how I am supposed to hook an ear-piece, that you can talk through, up to it. Even the people at the store have no clue what ear-piece I can use with it.
Reception is no better than what I had with Sprint.
My Muziq showed finger prints, but this one is ridiculous....
I am still within my 30 days, but I have no idea what to do. I don't know what other phone to try. I would like to stay with a flip, but other than the Alias. The others are all a step down...

I wish manufactures would focus first and foremost on making a good PHONE. If I want to talk to my family and friends while I am not at home or send them a text, I'll use my cell PHONE. Not my cell-camera or my cell-mp3 player.

Boy was I mistaken. Verizon is NOT better than Sprint.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dollface219 submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros:
Supports up to 8GB card
Stylish
Good sized screens
FM tuner!

Cons:
Not a big fan of the wheel on the front
Soft vibrate
Blah ringtones

Honestly, there aren't a lot of bells and whistles when it comes to this phone--it's a cell phone! The nice thing is the FM tuner is easy to use and sounds ok. I'm used to the "gadget phones" where they do everything but cook lol (ie Voyager, Palm, Blackberry...) I had the LG8600 a few phones back and honestly liked the design of that phone better. However, the front screen is bigger on this phone.

The one thing that took some getting used to was the sub menu. When you hit the right arrow (the circle around the OK button when phone is open) it takes you to an additional 4 options to choose from. --If you get the phone you'll understand better. I was really used to that key being the shortcut to my text messaging inbox!

The one thing I wish at least ONE of these sleek new stylish phones would inherit is a trait from the LG8300--the ability to add text tones for contacts. The 8300 is the only phone that I know of that has this feature on the Verizon network, and I would personally LOVE to have this added to something soon!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It was one of the first things I did when I got mine.

Anyway...Overall, this is one of the best phones I have owned. It does not power off/on like some other models do. The battery life is good, not great but its ok. The coolest thing is the FM transmitter. Comes in handy when I drive into areas where the radio sucks.

Also, one of the best changes from LG is putting the memory card access on the side, and not under that battery like other models.

I do agree that it is hard to open with one hand.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Xboxfanatik submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

i have had this phone for 3 days now and I have not found a single thing wrong with it. the texting is great, battery life is out of this world and the speeds and voice clarity and top notch. I love the large displays on front and inside of phone, makes it very easy to see an incoming call or text.

This phone is very loud so for those of you who complain about silent phones this one is for you. I can hear the ringer on low volume inside my pocket while in a crowded shopping mall.

Pros:
Battery Life
Design
Call quality
Signal quality
Keypad
Volume
3g speeds
VCAST
Navigation
Email
Ease of use
durability
Screen and text size

Cons:
only one is that it is a finger print magnet, but that should never be a reason to not buy a quality phone such as this.

Overall I love this phone and I will keep it for a long time.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Popcorn. submitted this review of the LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is one of the best phones I've ever owned. The whole design of it is very well-done. The sound/speaker is very loud which is a plus in my eyes. The image clarity and LCD screen look amazing. The music player is nice, and plays loud as well. The call quality is good and I get good reception. This phone can be used a modem as well which is a very big plus!! The spinning wheel on the front is a bit loose but still works. I wish there was one on the inside as well, it makes searching thru things a lot faster. I love that you can view texts/pictures from the outside, as well as music, calendar and camera. This phone is a very nice phone, one of the better LG's. Great display themes and easy to read fonts. The keys are good enough for me to text, I can still do it without looking or with one hand. I can flip this phone open with ease with only one hand, don't need two all the time. I'd recommend this phone to anyone!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
