Which pretty much means it a thorough test from me, and at all summed up I got a 4.0 in ratings.<br /><br />ALLTEL VERSION: SCOOP<br />The phone was purchased in a blue color. I owned it for a short time before it and FELL got dunked. It was dried but the mic never worked again, so I paid tp get a new one, or refurb, which worked ok and then came to the issue of the port breaking.<br /><br />I'd say the first phone was the best phone out of the Alltel bunch. I never experienced problems with it, (MORE WITH ME BECAUSE I GOT IT WET. LOL) but it never really had any issues, <br /><br />SPRINT VERSION: RUMOR<br />The blue rumor was an excellent phone, and probably the best phone that I've owned on sprint's network. Probably NOTHING even close. The Rant was probably the worst qwerty phone on sprint I ever came to recognize. Constant dropped calls on that phone and the phone would always freeze, and overheat and power off and the battery was the most suckish thing ever. But thats a different review. This phone was dropped repeatedly and had tons of good features that weren't available on the scoop. The ending of this phone was it dropping and the top breaking from the bottom. It had a lot of wear on it.<br /><br />USCELLULAR VERSION: WHITE RUMOR<br />The phone was ok. I got it from a family member with a broken charger port, but was able to charge it by holding pins down in right way. it worked good and had good features as well. It seems the owner dropped the phone a lot as it was chipped, dented and all of the keys were worn. To fix this problem, I was told first to pop out the battery while the phone was still on. If that didn't work, then to reset the phone (through the settings menu - this would delete all stored information). If this didn't solve the problem, then I would have to return the phone. I bought it through PC Mobile, and they not only extend the warranty for an extra year, they will repair it free of charge and give me a free loaner. But hopefully I won't have to take advantage of this great customer service.<br /><br />I can't accurately rate this phone until I see if this problem can be resolved. This is coming from someone who had to put up with the stupid POS for 2 whole years. I FINALLY traded it in for an enV3 and there is NO comparison. The Scoop (Rumor) is THE worst phone on the cellular phone market hands down. Problems current Scoop (Rumor) users can look forward to: No personalized ringtones, unless you’re willing to pay 4 dollars through the company + $10 download fee for a low-quality tone, charger port literally falling out of the phone after a while, screen freezing up and acting up, LED lights on the QWERTY keyboard burning out, phone randomly shutting down, entire text messages erasing when you attempt to delete one or two characters, battery pack loosening, and that’s ALL within the first year. My advice would be to RUN back to your provider and exchange or return the phone AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Also, the price for the scoop is $49.99 after a $40.00 mail in rebate. My enV3 was $39.99 after a $50.00 mail in rebate. I really liked this phone when i first got it and for about a year. I got the green one and it was going good. I am a big texter and the keyboard worked well but i got tired of it after a while. I wanted to use the regular T9 Word but when i text on the outside it cant keep up with me unless i take off word prediction and all of those settings. So then about a year after i got it ittotally malfunctioned. the screen went white and the sliding didnt work and then i had to replace it. and no not only the green phones do that. the color of the phone doesnt affect what is happening on the inside. I would end up having to text with ABC keybaord with the phone closed, which I thought I would never have to do again. Not only that, when using the QWERTY keyboard, if I made one tiny typo, hitting the "back" button would erase my entire text. Talk about annoying. <br /><br />Then, my phone started randomly restarting itself, or turning off completely without turning back on. What kind of phone turns itself off randomly? The LG Scoop does, apparently. This also would most frequenty happen while I was in the middle of a text...this phone was supposed to be a good texting phone, but most of the problems occurred while I was texting. Weird.<br /><br />These next problems aren't very big, but I think I should mention them. The camera is horrible. The shots were delayed, so I would have to hold my phone still for 5 seconds after taking the picture. Also, the picture quality was just...ugh. You had to have bright sunshine just to get a clear picture.<br />Oh, and the sound quality is also horrible. There was no point in having any music on this phone, because listening to it was almost as bad as listening to full-blast white noise. Also, forget speaker phone...unless you didn't want to be able to understand the other person, and didn't want them to be able to understand you. <br /><br />PROS:<br />Pretty purple color<br />Stylish<br />Cool pre-set wallpapers...I guess<br /><br />CONS:<br />Everything else<br /><br /><br />My final point is, it's a good thing this phone is discontinued. I have had a few problems with it now, I have been unable to use the blue-tooth feature, it is unable to find a blue-tooth device. The phone turns off from time to time, or freezes up when you are in the middle of a text. The phone will hang up on someone when I am calling them.<br /><br />Pros:<br /><br />-Very good 'qwerty' keypad, making texting a breeze<br />-Has 3 alarms<br />-Speaker phone is good for when you are checking voice mail<br /><br />Con's:<br /><br />-Turns off for no reason<br />-Freezes up and you have to remove battery to get it back to normal<br />-Speaker phone is only good for receiving voice mail<br />-Does not come with anything i.e. head set, memory card, etc...<br />-Unable to get games because my network doesn't support this cell when it comes to downloads... even though they sell it.<br />-Camera sucks, 1.3 Mega-pixel... looks like a cluster of squares when taking pictures<br />-Web browser is very limited, unable to look up any info if you needed.<br />-When talking on the phone it will seem to go threw a black-out zone, and the call will seem muted.<br />-Unable to connect with my blue-tooth device, also unable to connect to other cells even when they are next to each other.<br />-When talking on cell, it is very hard to hear the other person on the other end.<br /><br />...the verdict is, I would only recommend this phone to someone who can not hear, because this phone is just good for texting. I will never buy this make let alone an LG phone again, I would get a Nokia cell they seem to have always been there for me, never had a problem with them... at least not like this piece of poop.<br /><br />Even though my contract isn't up for 2 more years I will be getting a new phone come the new year. It shuts off while I was texting, while I was talking and if it is sitting idle. Nothing triggers it, the phone just stinks.<br /><br />(2) ALSO, it battery life is awful. It was never great to start with (would last about 1 - 1.5 hours of talk/text time). Time progressively got shorter and shorter. Now, after owning the phone for 11 months, the battery only last 7 minutes of talk time before dying. Yes, 7 minutes.<br />I have to carry a charger around with me and keep it plugged in to talk.<br /><br />LG warranty says I can replace the phone for up to one year...but I have to live without a phone for 2 weeks. (WHAT?!) <br /><br />I took it into my Sprint store and they "cleaned" the battery - it's still not working correctly. I have the insurance, but apparently, it doesn't cover this problem? What's the point of paying $80+ a year if issues aren't covered.<br /><br />My point? I will not buy this phone again. I know 3 other people who have similar issues. I bought it in green. That was my first mistake. <br /><br />The problems keep coming. Typically, I have found that the white and black version of this phone do not have as many problems as the green one for whatever reason. The phone:<br /><br />Randomly turns off, typically in the middle of texting someone<br /><br />Decides to freeze up (the whole screen turns white) so you have to take the back out and put it back in, then turn it back on.<br /><br />If you're using the keyboard side, and slide it back, it sometimes freezes up, but the screen won't turn white.<br /><br />It has horrible absolutely horrible picture quality. The lighting has to be absolutely flawless just to get a clear picture. It doesn't have flash, so you can forget night pictures. And without a memory card (which comes separately) you can only take up to about 30 pictures/videos. <br /><br />The speakers aren't very clear at all, so talking on speaker-phone is a misery.<br /><br />Your inbox/outbox/sent/draft can only hold up to 100 messages each so you're constantly deleting messages.<br /><br />What is good about this phone is:<br /><br />The keyboard is set up just like a computer keyboard so it's easy to use for fast texters.<br /><br />It has an automatic lock when the phone is on standby.<br /><br />You can lock certain texts.<br /><br />The keys are pretty big, so slower texters can use it.<br /><br /><br />But overall, I'd have to say that this phone is good for texting.. if that's all you plan to do. If you plan on doing anything other than that, do not buy this phone. I live in a suburb of Madison, WI and I would randomly lose signal. Also if you hit the back button twice your whole message will delete. The QWERTY keyboard keys, on my phone anyways, kept sticking. And finally my charger stopped working after 15 months. <br /><br />PROS: Good battery life. T-9 worked wonderfully. Durable (I dropped mine a lot.) Has a few decent faceplates.<br /><br />Those are all the pros I could think of. I liked this phone for about a month before I hated it.
