narn3049 submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Awhile back when I went to upgrade I had the choice of this and the MOTOROLA KRAZR. I tested this at the Verizon store, and I quite obviously liked the Krazr more. I was debating getting this, and then it was discontinued.

The one reason I didn't buy this sooner is because I read on websites on the reviews (and on here) of frequent freezing. This happened with the Krazr, so I chose something to fix something, but instead still had the same issue.

So, I would've gotten this phone, but the glitching, the freezing and the freaking out on this phone (rumored) caused me to get the Krazr, but I had freezing and the phone rebooting on the Krazr. The one thing the Krazr was, was durable. The RAZR 2v9m had a full glass front, all glass, and this had a smaller front screen so small front glass = not so much glass to crack, as I tend to drop my phones, NEVER DID CRACK THE GLASS IN OWNERSHIP JUST SCRAPED IT ALL UP.

So I've never experienced this phone, so your opinion COULD be different than mine. I currently have the RAZR v3m and It seems to be much better with the freezing, any phone is going to do that, wether it be a short of memory, or a dropped call. Ther'es something to cause it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bobby2284 submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I had this phone on Verizon. At the time I got it cause I had a Razr MaxXx and this phone looked alot nice and I saw something on TV with Jay-Z and he had this phone, so I figured it was one baller style phone. It is!!! The screens are really nice and the touch keys on the outside are too. Very Good camera, video camera, web browsing etc. As far as a regular (nondata) phone this is my favorite phone I have ever had and I have had 100's of phones. Its very durable compared to any similar phones too. I threw this phone out of my camaro going 50+mph and found it the next day (had to buy a battery and battery cover since I couldnt find them) and the phone still functioned perfectly, screens were not broken just minor scratches on the metal edges which I sanded down later, lol. Also when I replaced the battery I got the extended life, since it comes with the battery cover it ends up being the same price. My biggest complaint about this phone is the battery life and its ALOT better with the extended life and it really doesnt stick too far out either compared to most extended life batteries. Anyway its a very nice phone great loud speaker quality, call quality in general is very good to and clear, which is more than I can say for alot of the phones these days which sound mechanical or digitized at best most of the time. It was pricey, but at the time it had about the best specs of any phone you could buy and was baller metallic espresso lookin slickness so you should have expected to pay 300 dollars for it, lol. Anyway it is a really good phone. Never had a problem with it...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kyle022390 submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I had the Razr2 V9m on the U.S. Cellular Network in Central and Northeast Iowa, reception and coverage was never an issue.

Generally, I am not partial to Motorola. However, this phone was somewhat of an exception despite the fact it was longer than my face.

Many people I know had problems with this phone, luckily I didn't seem to run into anything until the bluetooth stopped working and it would not connect with any other devices no matter what I did.

The main reason I bought this phone was appearence, I loved the metal casing and sturdy feel to the phone. I dropped it on concrete dozens of times and nothing ever seemed to hurt the phone, eventually there was a crack on the outside screen but the touch keys continued to work wonderfully.

This phone had a great music player and a lot of memory built in stock.

One thing I will complain about is the cheap rubber like casing on the back of the phone. It started cracking and coming off and my phone looked horrible. This has eventually happened with all of the Razr2's I have seen and it is quite dissapointing when you bought the phone for appearence in the first place.

So - this is really just your basic motorola but a little bit more sturdy and a little bit more attractive. I can't really complain but there is nothing to oo and ah over.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

timbre submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I've been using the Razr2 for the past month with U.S.Cellular in Chicago. The only thing I didn't like
was I could only get about 12 hours out of the battery
with the 1X network, but after USCC turned up their
EVDO network last Monday, I now get 3 whole days
out of a charge! I was going to purchase an extended
battery but now I don't have to. Although if you are
way out in a rural area with a weak signal, you will
find it back to 1X and searching for EVDO which will
quickly drain your battery. No other problems so far.
No freeze-ups or blank screens etc. The USCC color
gold looks really sharp; I get comments from everyone
about how expensive it looks. I have always owned
Motorola (5th phone) with no major problems and
hope they stick around as I prefer them over every
other brand other than Nokia or Sony-E.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has great graphics and the screen is beautiful. Great internet speed great call quality, great sprint tv. All that is good. But this phone doesn't work right. The buttons forget what they do, it is terribly slow, it freezes and it is just not a very good phone for a texter or someone who isn't a 35-40 year old who doesn't do much besides call.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I liked the phone at first, but I realized that this phone became a headache when it wouldn't hold a charge and it needed to be updated like every week! This phone has a lot of issues! At times my screen would freeze up,it would lock up,power off, screens wouldn't light up when you open or close it,and at times it wouldn't ring! The outter screen cracks very easy. The good thing about it is that you have many different functions and you can mainly personalize the you like it. Alot of v9ms would be in the repair shop at U.S. Cellular because of similar issues!!! I don't think I would recommend this phone to anyone!!! For all the problems that this phone gives, it should be cheaper to buy!!!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cellphone11 submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have the v9m, v3m, and the Chocolate 3. I've had a lot of Verizon phones (too many to mention). This is without a doubt the best phone I have or have had. I thought the e815 wouldn't be beat but Motorola did it with this one! The reception and voice quality is the best. Without having an external antenna I couldn't imagine having better reception than the e815 but the v9m does. I did a side by side comparison with the Chocolate 3 and in an area I knew had very weak reception. I wasn't able to make a call on the Chocolate 3 and was able to have a crystal clear conversation with the v9m.

Pros: Audio quality and reception(THE BEST!, which is #1 priority for me). Solid construction and quality build(very durable).

Cons: Heavy, poor battery life, back cover comes off too easy(pops off if you drop it)

Pros far outweigh the cons. This is definitely a phone for its intended purpose(hearing, being heard, and reception everywhere) with the added bonus of a great media player and great aesthetics.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have this thru US Cellular here in Iowa! After reading all of the reviews I decided it was time to try one! Honestly, excellent reception! No dropped calls! The battery life is not the greatest! I have it conditioned as per what most folks say to do! Exactly as that and it still drops in battery strength. I am by no means a heavy caller or texter..but it is without any reservations a highly-recommeded cell phone! Happy using to all who have one!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ReplayHarry submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Well, my V710 finally gave up the ghost after about 3 and 1/2 years. I must say, it was the best phone I ever owned. I had already been doing some research on a new phone since I was well past the 2 year free phone thing. I'm with Verizon. So I got it down to the V9M and the Z6W. Decided to go ahead with the high end V9m. Besides, I have big fingers and that Z6W is pretty small. To make a long story short, looks like I did well. I am very happy with the V9M. I had a lot of MP3 ring tones of my own on my V710 and really wanted to save them. I just enjoy having a custom ring tone for all the people I care about. I would have hated it if I had to go with simple little musical jingles that come with the phone. So it took some doing but I was able to get all my ring tones onto the V9m. On top of that I feel this phone is at least equal to the v710 in signal and overall performance. I know battery has been an issue for some. While the battery indicator does seem to go down quicker then my old V710, in reality it lasts longer, and I had the extended use battery on that one. I use my phone daily with about and hour or so of talk time and the phone is turned on from the time I get up till I go to bed. I recharge about every 2 days. So for my money this is a great phone!

pros - sturdy, good signal, reasonable battery life

cons - yes the shinny surface smudges

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I love this phone more than anything I've had before like the EnV.

Cons:
-with verizon carrier they do not give you the option to view your texts with a closed phone
-sometimes the phone freezes when talking
-battery life is less than impressive
-hard to find a car charger for the phone

Pros:
-great huge screen when opened and closed.
-love the texting, remembers whole sentences haha
-one of the loudest speaker phones I've heard
-very durable, can handle falls
-and the phone just looks cool hah.

all in all I gave the phone a 4/5 just because it doesnt have a lot of flaws but the ones that it does have effect the performance of the phone and they are big ones. but hopefully they are just with my phone and when I get it replaced everything will be fixed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MotoGal26 submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

So let me say that I LOVED my motorola v9m! I loved the signal on it, the color of the screen, how slick the phone looked and felt, it was just an overall good phone! I loved the sound of the MP3's on the phone, and the touch screen and visualization on the phone whenever the MP3 player was on.

The cons of this phone............

I had 2 V9M's in less than a month in a half. The first one within about three weeks of having it, the screen started to short out, never been dropped, no water damage, no damage of any kind whatsoever! It started slowly that the screen would start to faze out, and then it finally went out completly, had it not been for my touch screen I may not have been able to use it.

I purchased a second one, and yet again the phone itsself was just awesome! But after a few weeks, I noticed what looked like a water bubble on my screen, and was told it was a ink mark, and you couldn't really see it unless you knew it was there,.

I sadly got rid of my V9M to a good friend of mine who didn't care what kind of shape it was in, she just wanted it,. and after a second RAZR2 with progressing problems, I finally ended up purchasing a Motorola Q9C, which I as well love!!! I'm a big fan of the motorola family, I've had nothing but good reception with my phones, they have been very durable, and I am just an overall pleased customer!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jagguar submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

This is a really great phone. Unfortunately, Verizon got rid of all the features on it that I liked. This phone is really thin and the screens look really nice. You could practically use this as a bookmark. It's a little bit of a challenge to open with one hand but I'm sure it'd get easier with practice. Yes, it's a fingerprint magnet, but that's such a minor complaint. If you want to get someone's fingerprints to take to the cops, just hand them your phone.

The Verizon version of this phone doesn't allow you read text messages or calendar alarms on the front. You have to open the phone to read them. And the text message notifier goes away, so you have to go through the menus to look at your inbox and find the message.

Like everyone else has said, the battery sucks. I mean really sucks. I conditioned the battery and then I had to charge it again after only 1 hour of talking. 1 hour!

I minor issue that no one else seems to have mentioned is that the speed dial requires you to hold down the last digit in order to dial. Unlike the LGs, you can't hit 1 Send to call voicemail. Not a big deal but kind of obnoxious.

I had this phone for a about a week before I returned and bought the LG VX-8350. It looks a lot cheaper (is it!) but it's much more functional. I just with Verizon didn't disable half the features of the phone. I'm considering buying another V9m on eBay and hacking it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

CincinnatiMST3K submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I'll make this a slick review, in honor of a very slick phone.
(Verizon user.)

CONS:
-Is the only Verizon phone i've owned that forces you to move pictures from your MicroSD card to the phone memory to use as wallpapers.

-Battery is MUCH better than expected; (better than the Samsung Glyde even), but expect to charge it every night. Gets about 8 hours per charge, having performed moderate calling (less than 1 hour calltime) and medium to heavy use texting (about 65-70 texts a day).

- MicroSD card underneath battery cover. Forces you to remove battery to swap cards. This is annoying and does not allow hot-swapping.

-Main screen delicate to the touch, leaves finger-trails if you do touch it. Be careful!

PROS:

- 'Erase All' option in Messaging allows all messages, drafts, sent and received to be deleted at once, save for those you locked. This is a great feature!

- As it's been said before, the screens..both of them are AMAZING. Clear, bright, tight and vibrant!

- Best feeling phone I've ever had from an engineering standpoint. Thin but solid, small but opens WIDE and big, has heft but is not weighty. This is NOT a kid's EnV, this is a slick, glass and metal, adult oriented cell. Weight is balanced perfectly when opened. You can tell money was invested in the production of this cell more than most on the market.

-Flat keyboard surprisingly easy to text with!

-Alarm clock loud enough to wake you, vibrate stronger than you would expect!

-Calls crystal clear for me and the other line. Feels unlike a cell when speaking through it (due to size when opened.)

--------

Would have scored more if the phone had hot-swappable MicroSD ability and a slightly better battery.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MOTU submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I've had the V9 for two weeks now as a replacement for the E-815 in Verizon's "New Every Two" plan. I haven't decided if I will keep it yet. My grade is as follows: (5 is best)

Reception: 3 (not as good as the E-815)
Battery Life: 1 (pathetic)
Received Voice Clarity: 4
Sent Voice Clarity: 4
Speakerphone: 3 (sounds tinny)
Interface: 3 (Verizon)
Voice Command: 3 (not as good as the E-815)
Phone Button Operation: 3
Physical Size: 5

Basically, the phone is just OK. The only thing going for it in my opinion is it's small size as compared to the E-815. Otherwise it's an expensive phone with just OK reception and VERY poor battery life. After two weeks of charges, I barely get over 24 hours of standby (no talking) out of a full charge. The local Verizon "tech support" was not helpful in swapping out the battery - "I should just get another phone". I may do that - as well as pick another carrier. I left the offce a very unhappy Verizon customer.

Another issues for me is the voice command; it is worse than the E-815; slower with a lot of chimes and delays, with more recognition errors. I am also not real crazy about the side command buttons. They are fairly well embedded into the phone, making it hard to operate this phone with one hand.

As mentioned, I replaced an E-815 with this phone and outside of being smaller, the V9M comes up short in every category.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Nismoguy submitted this review of the Motorola RAZR2 V9m:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I a proud 4-day owner of a new Motorola Razr2 V9M for Alltel. The interface is very similar to most of Moto's other higher-end phones like the original Razr, E815/816, etc. so the learning curve for this new phone is very small! Thats what I like about Motorola's consistency between models.

The clarity of the internal and external screens (which are nearly the same size) is AMAZING. I created wallpapers for my V9M using photos I had taken with my 4.2mp point-and-shoot camera, and the pictures look just as crisp and clear on the phone screen as they do on my laptop.

I also love the feature that allows you to view text messages, manage the MP3 player, and view recent calls (even make calls!) from the front touch screen. When making a call from the recent call list using the front screen, the phone automatically switches to speaker phone; this is a great convenience that most manufacturers would probably overlook, but not Moto!

Dislikes:

There are a few things that I have not liked about the V9M. The phone has an extremely thin, sleek design but for me, that makes it hard to open. I have fat fingers and most of the time end up using two hands to open the phone. It has a very smooth, shiny texture and this makes the phone almost slippery feeling and is easy to drop.

I did have an issue with recording videos to the memory card. I pulled out my memory card, backed up the files, formatted it and problem solved!

The battery life the first few days is less than impressive. Per the owners manual and other reviews this gets better after a few charges but I'm still waiting to see.

Pros:
-Sleek clean design
-Solid feel
-All buttons work great
-Digital camera has great clarity
-Large external display
-It's a Motorola

Cons:
-Thin slick design makes it easy to drop (get insurance!)
-Camera takes all still photos in portrait mode (rotate phone 90 deg. for landscape)
-Small battery
-Memory card access is a little slow

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I like the phone it has good graphics and a good camera but it gets dirty(fingerprints) easily due to the polished metal.

PROS
-good 2 mp camera
-thin frame
-large touch sensitive external screen
-great sound quality
-large internal screen
-doesn't have the big chin like the Razr

CONS
-gets dirty easily
-really wide
-keys are far apart and a little hard to text with
-expensive
-I've heard stories of the screen breaking because the owner put it in their back pocket and sat on it

All in all it's a great phone if you can afford it. I would recommend getting insurance because if you drop it or sit on it it will easily break.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
