sms submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T409:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros:
1. Wifi works better than Nokia choice .. may be I should say it works with this phone and not with Nokia

2. Battery time is more than 2 days with wifi on. Charging time is less than 1.5 hrs.

3. Big fonts -- a very good thing on phones

4. Fast turn on and quick response after opening clam-shell.

Cons: Many ..none of them show stoppers.

1. RF is not great Wifi is better than most

2. No Serial profile with Bluetooth .. so you need a cable to connect to computer.

3. No cable or software supplied to use USB .. so no way to connect it your computer.

4. Connector for Power/USB/Audio is same .. and is horrible ... a 5 pin USB .. why ?

5. Main Display is pretty crappy .. barely usable ... not much choice of wallpapers .. you have to download them from tmo .. and that's not very nice.

6. External display is more than crappy !! mono and horribly dark.

7. Crappy and useless cover on USB connector.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tacoma2k2 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T409:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Excellent phone!!!Wi-Fi is outstanding..Where i live there's not a GSM tower within 12-15 miles, but with the Wi-Fi I get Excellent reception in and around my house..Only problem I have had is when i first got home with it,didn't connect right away, but found the promblem was that I had to register my 911 address through tmobile.com,everything has been fine since..If your looking for a really good phone with excellent reception (wi-fi or near the cell towers)this phone is for you..Only bad thing i can say about the phone is the color, wish it was black.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

psva submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T409:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I've had two of the Nokia 6086 phones, and both intermitantly disconnect from the WiFi modem at home, and sometimes refuse to connect.

The Samsung has connected and held the WiFi signal every time.

Not much else to add that anyone else has written.

Crap colors, so-so sounds, but the phone does what it's major function is well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mthaler submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T409:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Used Nokia 6086 for 4 weeks. Would work fine, except as others have discovered (and T-M now admits) the 6086 won't work most of the time w. a BlueTooth headset when in wifi mode.
This phone, altho lacking voice dial and quad band like the Nokia, does work fine as a phone and w. a BT. It is as basic as a phone gets. I gave it a fairrly high rating because it does its basics quite well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

User Review: Revolutionary Technology, Not Asthetically Pleasing

nkproducs submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T409:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I used this phone for about 2 weeks and i found the hot spot technology to be really awesome. Unlimited calling from ANY hotspot! ANYWHERE! for only $9.99 coupled with the fact that i can still have my favs for when im out of my hot spot.

Pros- WiFi Calling, Nice Resolution on Screen, Bluetooth, And it does have a 1.3 megapixel camera, you cant tell the difference in sound quality or call quality when on the hot spot network from the T-mobile Network.

Cons- It doesnt get very good coverage when not in a hot spot.(samsungs are notorious for this problem) At my house i had 1 bar until it switched over to my WiFi connection and then everywhere in my house had full service. The phone also doesnt have any real up to date features such as expandable memory, or an Mp3 player.

Overall this is the first of 2 phones released utilizing this new dual service WiFi calling technology, so obviously it seems they put out phones that would not be too feature rich because of the amount of battery it takes to send and recieve data over a wireless network. All in all its a great look at things ahead and from what im reading it looks like the first Blackberry utilizing this WiFi calling technology is right around the corner

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
