Chad4359 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have had my Treo for well over a year now and continue to love it every day. For anyone who has used the Palm OS the Treo 755p is the top of the line hardware wise and it shows. It runs every app quickly and does not have many errors or resets (unless you use an app that it doesn't like). Messaging, email and web browsing work perfectly everything is fast and responds quickly. I have grown to love the keyboard (I have also had the Treo 600 and 650) and believe the design, ergonomically, is perfect, however I have had some issues with the keyboard hardware. I have had to replace the keyboard three times over the 18 months I have had the phone (once myself and twice with a refurb phone from Sprint) with my 650 which I had for roughly the same time period I only replaced the keyboard once. The voice portion of the phone works pretty good. My main complaint about that is the lag between the phone app and the contacts it is much longer than it needs to be. Also, when the phone is functioning well and not having any app resets it can reset for no apparent reason when trying to make a call, this has been a Treo problem for as long as I have owned them, I am being very nit-picky on this as it does not happen that often but can be very frustrating when it does. Clarity is no better and no worse than any other phone I have owned and signal is also on par with Sprint coverage.

PROS

QWERTY keyboard
Threaded messaging
Palm OS
The patented Palm silence switch

CONS

Palm OS (for those who don't like it)
Hardware issues
Resets when using voice.

Bottom line is if you are a heavy voice user and don't plan on using many data/PDA functions please don't buy this phone and come here and bash it. Yes it is a phone but also a mini computer as well. There are many phones that are just superb at being just a phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

motulist submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

The phone is incredibly frustrating to use. I've had this phone for a few weeks, and the more time I use it the more and more I hate it. The interface makes you press a million buttons just to do the simplest things, nothing is placed in any logical order, it's completely unintuitive. The phone is sometimes very slow to respond to button presses, and also sometimes doesn't register it when you press a button, so if you press a button and nothing happens on screen then you don't know if it's because the phone is being slow to respond, or if it didn't actually recognize that you pressed a button. And sometimes when you press a button on screen it actually blinks, so the phone KNOWS that you pressed the button, but for some buttons it requires that you press and hold down the button for just a split second rather than just tapping it. So after you hit a button and nothing happens on screen you have to wait for like 2 or 3 seconds to see if it's just being slow, or if it just didn't respond to your pushing the button. And you can't just press the button again because if you do then once your finger is already in motion the phone may finally respond to your previous button-push and so it'll change the onscreen controls just before your finger hits the screen where the old button used to be, but now it's some different button so you wind up clicking some random button which makes the phone do something you didn't want, like call one of you contacts.

Ugh, don't get this phone.

PROS:

- Good voice clarity (but a big lag time between when a person starts talking on their end and when you begin hearing them through the phone)
- Good signal reception
- Good battery life
- one-touch button on the cable to sync w. computer

CONS:

- everything else

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

alphamfdawg submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

The phone is nothing more than a telephone. Once you download applications such as the free software that comes with the phone or Sprint Mobil, because Sprint no longer supports Versa-mail, the phone reboots itself repeatedly. I've contacted Sprint and they sent me 3 replacements. Then they told me it was a Palm problem. Palm walked me through a "hard-reset" which is a total erase and start-over function. When they couldn't fix the problem, they told me it was a Sprint software issue. So basically, I have an expensive phone that I can't use the way the ad's, Sprint and Palm says you can.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

Although i'll miss Picture Mail and Sprint TV, I had to go back to the Treo 700wx. The Pros and Cons'll tell ya why.

Cons:
The phone power cycles in its own.
Doesn't support Hotmail.
Has limited camera/video features.
Uses mini SD cards, which are harder to find, nowadays.
Although I chose autosync, the e-mail didn't autosync.

Pros:
No dropped calls.
Pretty good battery life, for being a PDA phone.
Sprint TV
Picture Mail
Allowed 3Gforfree.com ringers, whereas most Sprint Windows Mobile phones don't.

Palm is getting better, but still can't beat Windows Mobile, IMO.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

lremy22 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I give this phone a perfect score because I am upgrading from the treo 700wx so I am really comparing my experiences between the two phones. When I first got the 700wx I was thoroughly excited about it until I saw its limitations however with the 755p I see no limitations(not at the moment at least). For those who may see things otherwise I must note that this is my first time using a device that runs Palm OS. I know that this os is a few years old but all I have ever known is WM so this is a new experience for me.

Pros
1. Reception is awsome
I took the phone to my mother's house in West Orange New Jersey where cell phone signals(outside of verizon) go to die and I had a strong signal even in her basement

2. Phone is very user friendly, I became knowledgeable of it right away

3. Crazy super fast internet

4. Java Enabled (unlike the 700wx or wm phones in general)

5. can switch between calls without any problems (unlike 700wx)

6. Docs to go are great
(for ppl using office 07 just save your docs in 97-03 compatable mode, when you go to save as)

7. Push email works great (so far at least)

8. keyboard is nice and spacious for easy typing or texting

9. Resolution is great 320:320

10. IM, Yahoo, MSN, AOL (something that the 700wx lacks)

11. Rubber coating makes phone easier to handle and less likely to slip out of your hands

12. Nice and compact, stub is gone

13 reception is wonderful, volume does not have to be turned up to the highest

14 sprint tv, agps,

15. Pairs easily with bluetooth, (something that 700wx had difficulties with)

16. Very PDA oriented for the person who knows the value of a PDA

17. Palm Desktop syncs very nicely and it does it when you want it to not everytime you connect.

18. Able to use battery from 700wx as an extended battery, sync cable, and charger.

19. Seems that there is software out there that can allow you to print docs from this phone

cons: os needs update

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Syrup submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for over a year and my problems began right from the beginning. This phone does everything from the internet, google maps (which is grea)t, gps, email, great texting ability, the only and MAIN I need a cell for is to talk on the phone and here lies the problem with the treo 755. I could not hold a conversation without putting people on hold 2 or 3 times during a conversation. Palm put a hold button right on the main screen and this has been a pain in the rumpy stumpy from the beginning, why do you even need a stupid hold button on a cell for anyway. Sometimes I could not see who was beeping in and sometimes I dont get the swap button to switch over to the second line. Also screen freezes if you happen to make a call and someone is calling you at the same time, you basically have to let them go to voicemail because the answer button is stuck. Its way too big and bulky. Bottom line, I will never spend this kind of money again and I would not suggest it to anyone else. I truly miss the flip phone and will go back. This one, bad costly mistake.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Have been a palm customer for many years. Have tweaked and played with them for many years. Started with 2 650's them had 3 700's and then 3 755p all with many of the same issues. But now I use it for business very, very unreliable too many lost or dropped calls very common with Palm. Same common complaints as everyone else freezes up, sometimes cant see who's calling in,Bad reception. Bad , Bad Palm you have lost a very loyal customer for many years.I love the touch screen and applications of palm, but the reliability is just not there. The phone feels great and looks nice, but again not reliable. Will be trying out a Blackberry hope they have found a new loyal customer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tarheels63 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I upgraded recently to the Palm Treo 755p from the 700p. 700p was my first ever pda and I loved it. 755p is even better. Significant changes from the 700 are the weight (less) and the internal antenna. Speed is faster too when surfing the internet. The only CON I see after 2 weeks is the stylus...flimsy plastic but it does have a metal tip. Why does Palm change a good thing that the 700p has, that being a full metal stylus? I first attempted to upgrade to either the Palm Treo 800w or BBerry Curve 8330 but after a day with each I missed the comfort and scaled learning curve I had with Palm Treo. I'm sold on them and until I have more need for applications other than phone, calendar, text messaging, casual web surfing and retrieving work/home emails (if I want to retrieve them) then I'll be a Palm Treo user for a long time. Note to those switching from Palm OS to any other operating system...if you learned on a Palm you may find it difficult to switch gears to Windows OS or the BBerry OS...at least it was for me. 755p is a great phone for me but I can easily see where the Palm Treo 800w or BBerry Curve 8330 would be nice for their users as well.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sdgmcdon submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

So, I have owned the 650, 700w, 700wx, 700P and now 755P...Also owned most other type of WM smart phones on VZW. Officially I'm done trying to like Palm OS.

I had a 700WX, was bored with it, tired of waiting for the 800w, so a few months ago when the 755P came to VZW I figured it's only a few more months, maybe *this time* I'll like Palm OS, so I got it...Should have kept the 700wx.

The Pros:
It is a phone and does make and receive calls

It is a PDA and thus does display calendar items, contacts, and sends/recieves emails.

BT tethering & BT hotsync both work really well.

The application I use to open lockboxes as a Realtor is really fast and pretty stable

Form factor and shell material better than 700 line

When you perform a hotsync it backs up EVERYTHING including call logs, menu settings, sounds etc. That's nice.

That's about it...

The Cons:
Palm OS interface looks like a childs drawing representation of a pda....back in 92'

BT Headsets work, then don't work, work, then don't work. Static most of the time. Just flat can't rely and use a headset with this phone. This is however true of the WM flavors in 700 line in my experience

Message alerts do not work reliably...sometimes I get an alert, sometimes I don't

SLOW SLOW SLOW - Much slower to respond than 700wx

Crashes/Locks just as frequently as any WM device I've ever had

After a hard reset you have to reinstall versamail and/or sync device from computer to get emails, calendar, contacts etc back

Video plays in tiny little box in center of screen for a lot of videos...on WM video can always be played full screen.

Seeing as how I have no more space to write I will leave it with saying if you know/like Palm OS and you are not a heavy business user, the 755P will probably work fine for you. If you are a heavy business user stick with WM, it's built for business users unlike Palm OS.

Now if they would just release the freakin 800w already! Grrr...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

PhoneSmith submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I had to download chatter mail - because the Verizon wireless sync is horrible (i.e. every now and then it would send the same e-mail about 29 times). Very frustrating.

The camera is not good - it's really grainy and you can't zoom in - which is a feature I loved in some of my previous phones.

I've been told by more than one person that the phone sounds horrible when you're on the receiving end - especially when you're outside. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up all background noise.

But - the phone is okay so far, despite everything mentioned above. Would I recommend it to someone? Probably not.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

JC1 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 755p:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I had the 700p both with Sprint. I upgrades to the 755p as part of my switch to Verizon. I've since switched to the 700p from Verizon. I found that this phone is slower in switching between apps. It might be because I had wireless sync set up though. This phone has a defect where background noise is very noticable by the other person on the phone. I have not had that problem with the 700p. People rave about the Google Maps on the 755p. Folks, you can download Google Maps on the 700p, it just doesn't come preinstalled. I prefer the large SD card on the 700p to the microSD. It's much quicker to take out. I can put it right in to my computer and don't have to deal with adapters. As far battery life, just get a seidoonline.com extended battery for the Treo 700p. Yesterday I was out all day and at night my battery was still at 85%. This extended battery does not add width to the phone unlike with other PDAs like the i760. There is also an extended battery for the 755p. I don't see any good resason to upgrade to the 755p. I must say that I love the touch screen of a Treo. I can quickly set an appointment without having to scroll through too much. Lastly, you can buy a used or refurbished phone on eBay and not have a contract unlike the new 755p. This way I paid half as much and I can still upgrade to a new phone whenever Palm comes out with something better or Verizon comes out with some decent quad band touch screen PDAs. They do not currently have a good selection for what I need so the 700p is it for now. AT&T has some excellent PDAs right now. Verizon is lagging.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I wanted a PDA for my calendar, contacts and making phone calls, and can sync with my PC at my office. I didn't want a PDA for the Internet or email features. This phone does exactly what I want and was looking for. If you are looking for a PDA with the features that I described, then I'd get this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Having said that, I am on my fifth (yes 5th) Treo. I bought the first one and the next four came from Assurion insurance. The Palm Treo phones are HORRIBLE. ALL FIVE have had the same problems; phone locks up after sending text, phone shuts off when you're on a call and someone else calls in, Security feature which is supposed to turn the phone off at a user selected time of day doesn't work, Oh and then there's the headset jack!! All five phones have same problem, remove the headset and the phone thinks it's still plugged in which means you can't use the phone anymore! Sometimes plugging the headset back in will let you use the phone, other times NOT and the phone becomes a paperweight. STAY AWAY from the Treo's unless you have a high tolerance for frustration.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I'm a text fanatic so I love having a full keyboard in the palm of my hands!! It is user friendly... looks alot more complicated then it really is!! The only thing that may not be up to par with all the other smartphones is the battery life. I love the touchscreen... it is very responsive and does not lag!! The palm treo 755p is the best... I can't wait to see what's out there next from palm besides the Centro which is just a smaller version of the 755p!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

If i have an extremely busy day of calls, txting and emails, it is literally dead by 4pm. Not acceptable, but fixable with an extra battery. The other problem I can't figure out. If i am on the phone, not blue tooth and not speaker, the person I am talking to can literally hear all of the background sounds like they are their and it is very distracting to the person on the other end. I have spoken to others with the phone and they have shared the same complaint...its almost like there is an external speaker, but like i said, this happens when its not on speaker phone or using the blue tooth. Neither issues are bad enough to cause me to get a new phone, but you have to remove yourself from loud situations whenever the phone rings. Any answers to this problem?

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
