Great look, lightweight, great video, clear screen, good battery life, very very tough even when dropped several times, easy to text and find your contacts. I am a logger and this phone keeps better signal than our southern link work phones, even while in the middle of no where. On several occasions my boss has asked to borrow my phone to make a call. I only have 2 cons for this phone, the major one is that the speaker phone is way to low, even on its max setting its hard to hear, specially while driving a car, so its not the best hands free phone. Another minor con is the slide part is a little hard to grip, most of the time i have to use 2 hands to slide it out instead of using my thumb. I have had the M520 for almost 2 years and THIS PHONE IS TOUGH. I have dropped this phone, on average, once per day for since I bought it new. I have dropped it on hardwood. I have dropped it on asphalt. I have dropped it on gravel. I have dropped it and then stepped on it. I have dropped it and then accidentaly kicked it. I have even dropped it in a sink full of water and the 520 just keeps going. <br /><br />I originally purchased this phone based on it's size and weight. We have had to have it replaced 4 times in that two years because of the screen. Our carrier even discontinued the phone because of all the issues it has. The audio on the phone is crisp &amp; loud, user friendly, and descent battery life(especially for its' size). I used to have the sanyo m1 which was also a great phone, however, one thing that I noticed was even though the speakerphone on the m1 was also loud, I was told that I wasn't received clearly on the otheer end. On the samsung m520 I've had no complaints. The only negative I can think of(which isn't really a big deal) is the camera. Don't get me wrong, it definitely serves its' purpose, it's just that the camera on the m1 was a 2.0 megapixel which really isn't fair to compare. For untold reasons I threw the phone out the car window going down the interstate at 70 mph. When I walked back 100 ft to retrieve the phone it didn't have a scratch on it and the screen didn't crack! Miraculous right? I think so. However I sat my Rumor in the car door and it cracked. <br /><br />Pros:<br />-Easy to navigate<br />-Fair sized display and keys<br />-Bright Display<br />-Very loud ring<br />-Fair Battery life<br />-Great camera<br /><br />Cons:<br />-Difficult to use music transferred from other memory card<br />-Small scratch when it fell from dashboard to floorboard, crazy right?<br />-Signal problems compared to other Sprint Phones<br /><br />Overall I really like this phone versus the other regular non-smart phones I've had through Sprint. I'd recommend it for someone that texts no more than 1500 a month and has problems with hearing ringers on typical phones. It has a lightweight feel and it's slim not bulky. The only issue I have with it so far is the mail service. On Sprint services you have what's called SprintMail, well every now and then it updates the e-mail accounts you have added. When I had my yahoo account added it I would get an envelope on my phone showing that I have mail. After checking my vmail and my text messages and seeing nothing there I assumed that it had to do with my e-mail accounts, so I would check them yes there would be mail but the envelope wouldn't come off. I would turn the phone off and that's when it would go off, but then come back several minutes later. I finally had to delete that account off of my SprintMail. That's the only problem I have with it. I have to charge it everynight, and it's usually dead by 3 or 4pm.<br />-FINGER PRINTS!!! You pretty much have to touch the screen to slide it up, and finger prints really show. (that's just me being picky though) It's definately not a good reason to NOT choose this phone.<br />-You can't send pics to an e-mail address with this device. This isn't a major drawback either. If you have sprint it comes with an e-mail client pre-installed, and you can attach your pics to your e-mail through there.<br /><br />This is probably one of Sprint's better phones. Coming from the M1, I may be a little harsh on this phone, but I have to say I'm bringing this one back.<br /><br />Friday:<br />I got the phone Friday evening. I put in the battery, and it said it was activating... Guess what, it didn't activate. Then I had to call Sprint and get them to activate it, which was a pain because their phone menu is very simple... too simple to be of any good use, and after an hour on the phone, it was activated.<br /><br />Saturday:<br />I didn't sleep very well Friday night, and I quickly found out why. While this thing is on the charger, it will beep notifying you that it is done charging. It would be fine if it only beeped once. But not once every fifteen minutes. This ended up being very very annoying that on today (Sunday) I called Sprint to see why the heck it does this. They told me it was a "feature." Feature or not, it was a big turn down.<br /><br />I also sent my first text message on the phone. Maybe my M1 spoiled me, but I hate texting on this thing! Predictive text sucks, the screen has a horrible resolution.<br /><br />Another thing is searching through my contacts. I have 149 of them, so a simple up and down with the button is not going to do, so I mostly search. With this phone, I type the first letter, wait about 3 seconds, then it moves to my contact. With the M1, I press a letter and it goes instantly to it. What is it doing in the 3 seconds??? Everything was working perfectly!!! OK so for those of you who noticed that this phone offered a special email button right of the menu that would allow you to access up to 3 email accounts without having to go the web or anything or screw with passwords it would just log you in. Oh and the phone would also beep when you received an email and ask you if you would like to read it. Well I loved that feature it was amazing.. About a week ago that feature stopped working I figured it was just tower or server issue.After spending an hour with advance tech support they informed they received a memo stating that feature had been disable on every handset nationwide. SO if you are buying this phone with the intention of using that feature it wont happen.
