dave_the_babe submitted this review of the Nokia E65:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

What can i say that hasn't been said about the E65? I mean the backing Nokia is by far the best (up to debate btw diehard Sony Ericsson fans) but for the most part we can say that Nokia is the best. The E series is the business series and unlike the other E series from Nokia it lacks the full qwerty keyboard, but i think it makes up for it with its elegant slider design.

Overall, i work with phones all day, playing with them and whatnot, and i had this phone for about 2months now, and i have no problems. I was debating between the N73 and the E65, but i guess what really helped was the fact that the E65 has built in Wifi, GPS, bluetooth that has A2DP, and just in my opinion looks a hell of a lot better than the N73.

Pro's:
-Great battery life, a lot longer than the guys with the N73's
-The reception is good
-Stylish
-Wifi is awesome
-Screen has high resolution making your pictures come out amazing
-camera is good

Con's:
-Lags a little
-Some things are a little confusing to find and program if you are not familiar with Nokia's OS
-No flash
-No secondary camera for voice calling

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

elegant submitted this review of the Nokia E65:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Overall I am pretty happy with the phone. I was previously using a Nokia E62 with Cingular. Here are the pros and cons of E65

Pros:

1. Reception is great
2. The phone feels pretty compact in the hand and pocket.
3. Fast user interface, no visible lag for menu transitions.
4. Decent camera: small startup time
5. Display is very sharp and clear
6. Earpiece volume is pretty loud
7. Charges very quickly (about 1.5 hrs for a full charge)
8. Slider is strong and rugged
9. Controls and buttons are easy to use
10. Overall excellent build quality

Cons:

1. Speaker phone is not as good as the E62 (but E62 is known to have one of the best and loudest speakers). The speaker in E65 sounds a little shrill compared to E62.
2. Battery life is shorter compared to E62 in practice.
3. The silver colored face plate is poorly designed and it will easily get scratched even with careful use.
4. The data connector is a Nokia proprietary one -- so regular USB cables cannot be used to connect to the PC.
5. Camera has no flash
6. The phone is a little heavy for its dimensions.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

alter submitted this review of the Nokia E65:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I'm coming from a Blackjack and before that an LG CU500. I'm on Cingular.

The LG was a great PHONE but once I saw waht the Blackjack could do (real web pages, all my email, etc.) I was hooked on smartphones. The problem with the Blackjack was it failed me as a phone (callers heard everything but me, in all but the quietest of settings) and had mediocre battery life (dying on me at 8pm on a Friday and Saturday, sheesh, that's when I most need a cellphone).

The Nokia E65 rectifies all that. It is an excellent phone: great RF and great voice quality (I can be on a noisy NYC street and people hear me clearly, nuff said).
Other pros:
-great battery life (lasts for several days of heavy usage and charges from empty to full in 2 hours).

-beautiful bright screen
-pretty snappy OS
-complete customization of UI (except for wallpapers, which is very restrictive).

-lots of great Symbian S60 apps out there (flurry, Widsets, etc.)
-wifi (Google maps responds INSTANTLY) and Voip (also really easy, try Truphone or Fring).
-sturdy build, nice heft and nice to hold (feels like a phone).

Cons:
-front-face buttons and side keys are a little small.
-can't specify how to display wallpapers. Small annoyance but I'd like to be able to do something similar to Windows Mobile.
-A purely S60 fault- often seems like many more button clicks, as compared to WM5, are required to accomplish common tasks.

At the end of the day a great phone with only a few small gripes. Not exactly cheap (~$450 unlocked) but unlocked phones never are.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

smr2112 submitted this review of the Nokia E65:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Have had this phone for about 1 week now
and would like to provide some feedback.
I am in the US using Cingular with it.

A prioority for me as a previous WM5
user is being able to sync with Outlook 2003
including full contacts, notes and calendar.
I have many notes, so I am curious how
phones handle this. Only a 3rd part
application I had with WM5 worked really
well (SmartphoneNotes).

Pros:
Great build quality
Excellent form factor and feel
Great slider motion
Very good reception and sound quality
Great PC Software, Sync is designed well
and very fast. Works great with Outlook
Simple to use keylock, unlocks on slide open
WLAN features works well
Decent set of included applications
So far very good battery life
Very quick charge time (comes with
euro-style charger)

Cons:
Standard font is damn small in some places
Cannot search in notes, must scroll, but
it wraps around.
No full function when syncing in my Acura TL
with HFL - very disappointing
Numeric buttons a little bit hard to press
because they are so smooth and closer
together which a slider phone really
has to be.
Non-standard data cable, but works fine
Included cloth pouch is worthless

E-mail if you have questions: steve@sj2.net

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rogwk submitted this review of the Nokia E65:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

First off, I am not a phone expert, just a tech-loving pseudo-geek. So please don't expect a comprehensive review! But I just got this phone and figured that my impressions might be helpful to somebody. This is a small, sexy phone. The materials and construction are excellent. If fashion is a priority I doubt many would be unhappy with it's physical appeal. The display and sound quality are excellent. Ergonomics are somewhat compromised by the small size. The buttons and keypad require a little finesse, which means you are pressing with your fingernail or tip of the finger. The side buttons are another story. I found them almost impossible to distinguish by touch alone and difficult to depress accurately. But I am thoroughly pleased with operating system and functionality. It connects effortlessly to the Web (via Cingular or WiFi) and I can access my POP3 e-mail with ease. Because no QWERTY keyboard I cannot imagine this phone would be a good choice for those that like to text, IM or anything else that requires much data entry. In fact, it may have a limited target group-- mainly people that want a fashionable phone with excellent connectivity, but who are not power users.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
