Verizon Wireless and Samsung today announced that the ATIV Odyssey will be available at Verizon Wireless stores beginning January 24. The ATIV Odyssey is a mid-range Windows Phone with a 4-inch AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, and LTE 4G. It costs $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract.

Verizon Sets Launch of ATIV Odyssey Windows Phone

Samsung today announced the upcoming launch and new details of the ATIV Odyssey for Verizon Wireless, Samsung's first Windows Phone 8 device for the U.S. Originally announced in October for launch by the end of 2012, the phone is now slated to launch "in the coming weeks." The ATIV Odyssey has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, and global roaming. The phone also features 4G LTE, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, 2,100 mAh battery, and 8 GB of internal storage plus up to 64 GB of microSD memory.

Verizon Opening Windows Phone 8 Preorders November 9

Verizon Wireless today announced that the HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822 will be available for preorder beginning November 9. The HTC 8X will cost $199.99 and will be available in blue, red, or black. The Nokia Lumia 822 will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and will be available in white, gray, or black. Both devices require new contracts. As for availability, Verizon is only committing to making them available by Thanksgiving. The Samsung Odyssey, teased by Microsoft last month, will be available before the end of the year. Verizon didn't share more details about the Odyssey.

Exclusive Samsung ATIV Odyssey Teased for Verizon

Microsoft today announced that Verizon Wireless will offer a number of Windows Phone 8 devices. One of them, the Samsung ATIV Odyssey, has not yet been announced, but will be an exclusive to Verizon Wireless. Microsoft didn't provide any details about the Odyssey, but said it will be available by December. The Nokia Lumia 822 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X will be available before Thanksgiving at $99 and $199, respectively.

Samsung Reveals Windows 8 Phone Plans In Court

As part of its ongoing court battle with Apple, Samsung has entered into evidence a roadmap for Windows Phone 8 devices it plans to release toward the end of this year. There will be a flagship device code-named "Odyssey", and a lower-end model code-named "Marco". Both phones use a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and sport LTE and/or HSPA+ 21, a Super AMOLED display, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The higher-end Odyssey has NFC, a 4.65-inch display, and an 8-megapixel camera. The Marco has a 4-inch display and 5-megapixel main camera. Both are slated for Q4 release, according to the documents filed with the court.
