U.S. Cellular Refreshes Plan Pricing

U.S. Cellular today announced a trio of new plans for customers of its pre-paid wireless services. The least-expensive feature phone plan costs $35 per month and offers 400 voice minutes voice, 400 text messages, and 400 picture messages. Feature phones can also choose a $50 monthly plan that includes unlimited voice, unlimited messaging, and 1GB of data. Last, U.S. Cellular is offering a $65 monthly option for smartphones that includes unlimited voice, unlimited messaging, and 2GB of data. Select smartphones can use the smartphone plan, including the Samsung Galaxy S II, Mesmerize, and Repp; the Motorola Electrify; the HTC Merge and Wildfire S; and the Huawei Ascend II.

MetroPCS today announced that the HTC Wildfire S, its first Android phone from HTC, will be available later this week for $179.99. MetroPCS's pre-paid plans start at $50 per month. The Wildfire S runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has Sense 3.0.

Virgin Mobile Lands HTC Wildfire S, LG Optimus Slider

Virgin Mobile USA today announced the addition of two Android handsets to its pre-paid lineup, the HTC Wildfire S, and the LG Optimus Slider. The Wildfire S will be Virgin Mobile's first device from HTC. It was announced earlier this year. The LG Optimus Slider (pictured) is a rebranded version of the LG Enlighten, and as the name implies is a sideways slider that offers a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a 3.2-inch HVGA display, 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, Bluetooth 3.0, and support for microSD cards up to 32GB. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The HTC Wildfire S will be available October 23 at Best Buy and RadioShack for $199.99. The LG Optimus Slider will be available October 17 from Virgin Mobile's web site for $199.99; October 31 in Best Buy and RadioShack stores; November 6 at Target; and November 13 in Sprint Stores.

U.S. Cellular Scores HTC Hero S, Wildfire S, Flyer Tablet

U.C. Cellular today announced the upcoming availability of three Android devices from HTC. All three are slab-style devices and will reach store shelves in October.

Hero S: This smartphone sports a 4.0-inch Super LCD display at qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, a 5-megapixel main camera, and 1.3-megapixel user-facing camera. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense. It will cost $199.99 after rebate with a new agreement.
Wiidfire S: This mid-range Android device was announced earlier this year. It has a 600MHz processor, 3.2-inch touch display with 320 x 480 pixels, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and Bluetooth 3.0+HS. It will cost $79.99 after rebate with a new agreement.

U.S. Cellular will also sell its own version of the HTC Flyer tablet for $399 after mail-in rebate with a $54.99 monthly data contract.
