looks arent everything
this phone is not good at all its touch sensitive gets on my nerves it calls pepple when i put it in my pocket and when i touch it it will not respond my screen cracked in a month and the battery only LAST 2 hours and takes 5 hours to charge all the way i have a lg env now it is way better
It's a CURSE!!
Stay as far away from this phone as you can. The only thing it has going for it is a nice feel in the hand. Everything else about this phone majorly sucks.

OK first off i have a white chocolate. One day i threw it across a playground and if only scratched it and the keyboard is coming out a little bit. So i am saying that this phone is indestructible!

i hate this
i like this phone, and hate it at the same time, the battery dosent last long, its easy to break, my touch keypad dosent work,

No good
I had this phone for nearly a year! Not long after, the battery would die after MAYBE 5 minutes of talk time. I could probably get in about three texts before it died!
Sometimes the sensitive buttons wouldn't work. I would put the sensitivity on high and low and everything in between and the buttons still wouldn't work!!
I sold this phone on ebay for parts & that was the only thing that made me happy about it =]
I would never reccommend this phone to anyone!!!!!!
OK phone
I owned this phone b4 i owned the Samsung u740 (which i had also made a reveiw of).
The chocolate is an OK phone. It has everything a phone should have. Theres nothing special about it.
Pros:
-It has a pretty big memory
-Has a good camera
-Nice slide
-Cool colors
-Good options
-Awsome sound
Cons:
-Touch buttons are annoying
-Txting is kinda annoying cuz of the way the buttons r put
HORRIBLE! LG's WORST!
I have had this phone for the past year and a half and have had to replace it 5 times. I just got my 5th replacement and it is having failures again.
Awful things about this phone:
- Touch pad doesn't respond sometimes and you have to repeatedly strike it before it will recognize.
- Calls people accidentally all the time!
- electrical failures!!! (white screens, lines through screens, won't turn on at all, won't go to camera and resets phone, etc.)
- worst camera I have ever had in a phone
- Key pad is very small and breaks apart / wears down quickly.
- End Button / Power Button is in an awkward spot on side of phone.
Good things about this phone:
- Fun Design
- Loud sound, you can hear every conversation
I have months left with this nightmare, and wouldn't advise it for any one else!
TERRIBLE
I am now on my second replacement in a THREE MONTH PERIOD.
I have had the same problems as others: freezing, placing phone calls in my pocket, the screen whiting out, inverting colors, camera button turning off the phone, texts being sent mid-sentence, phone randomly shutting down, etc.
The sliding mechanism becomes so weak over time that I hang up on people accidentally all the time!
I would not recommend this phone to anyone.
Never a single problem
I have never had a single problem with this phone despite the fact i work for Verizon and i hear about problems all the time. A lot of it boils down to taking care of your equipment. I keep mine in a leather holster and take pains not to drop or scratch it, but it is still a more difficult phone to take care of and keep clean. Also my phone has never touched water but one of my stickers is smudged as if it has gotten a little wet, and i have seen this on many other 8500's as well. All in all i am very happy with this phone.
LG VX8500 - AKA Chocolate Meltdown
Bought this phone for my wife to try before buying the 8550. That was a HUGE mistake. Now she wants to switch back to her RAZR! LG makes some good phones, but this one is horrible. Just read some of the other reviews!! Major software issues and this thing has a mind of its own. It will dial numbers at random and do some really weird stuff, even when you aren't holding the phone. Don't buy it!! If you want a slider, go with the 8550. This one isn't worth a nickel in my opinion.
Pros:
- Looks good new
- Screen is good size and it takes a decent picture
Cons:
- Battery is garbage
- Touch face is a nuisance
- Possibly possessed by evil spirits
