this phone is ok

Jan 18, 2007 by jordan

this phone is an decent cell phone, to get you through your 2 year contract, it is a 3G cell phone, GSM meaning you insert a SIM card for those of you who dont know, and is pretty thin, and has some cool features.

PROS
- thin and sleek.

- black with brushed black on front to give it the sleek look.

- music buttons on the outside and easy to press and use.

- pretty big screen for easy viewing.

- keypad is easy to use and text.

- easy to hold in hand while talking.

- picture id

- swivel camera 1.3 megapixel, which is clear and crisp rather than VGA cameras, great camera.

- loud vibrate to make you feel it when it your pocket.

- quad band, meaning it can be used all over the world.

- battery is ok, but thin also.

CONS
- when taking a picture, it show what your doing on the outside screen.

- microSD card is underneath the battery and hard to get and use.

- only 15 seconds allowed for videos, when filming something.

- when you record something, you cant make it your ringtone, you need to change the format from .apr to .mp3, which is annoying.

- you cant talk on speaker and shut the phone , it need to be open when on speaker, which is annoying.

2 Thumbs down for the LG CU500

Jan 16, 2007 by ant1171984

I upgraded to this phone in december and before my 30 days were up I was back to my RAZR. People could not hear me on the phone hardly at all....it faded in and out....I took the phone back and swapped it for another, same problem. And yes I did have a 3G sim card.

PROS:
-3G and Edge data incredibly FAST
-Decent rotating camera
-Like the Menu setup

Cons:
-The confirmation tones you cannot disable
-The ascending ringtone you cannot disable
-Call quality issues (speaker and on regular voice calls....audio fades in and out REALLY bad in full signal areas)
-Side buttons are extremley small...forget even trying to use them.
-Speaker does not work with flip closed (big down fall for me)

Overall..........I see this phone having a short life span. It looks good and could be a good phone but it has far far to many issues. :( What can i say....i gave it a spin!

Got it Yesterday...Going back Today

I had high hopes Cingular would have pulled a better signal in my hone than Verizon...nope.
I can't blame the phone all together for this as it could also be the service provider. Note > outside the phone works great.

On to the Phone.
Pros...
*Very well built, feels solid in hand, keypad placement and feel is great and that means a lot to someone like me w/big fingers and hands. Can't say how well it would hold up if an accidental drop were to happen.
*The people I've called say... voice sounds as good as a land line clear and crisp.
*The picture quality is very good.
*The Video Quality is very good, color w/sound...nice!
*Speaker Phone works very well w/good sound on both ends.
Strong Vibrate mode.
*I really like the large font as well as the analog clock options.
*Because of the above...very easy to see both screens.
*No Internet/Music feedback, etc no time as I really only needed to test it as a Phone, first!

The Cons...
*Ascending ring tones...YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Had I known this up front I NEVER would have wasted my time. Unless this phone is around your neck you WILL miss a LOT of calls!
*Ring Tones that come w/the phone are very annoying (unless) you're a young teenager. I like a simple ring sound, and the only one provided with the phone stinks...I believe it's called Old Bell.
*Poor reception in my home but again, this may not be the phones fault entirely.
*Battery live could be better, on a full charge and playing around with it, it's down to one bar the first day.

Ending...I tried Cingular and this LG Phone in hopes of a much better signal in my home vs my Verizon provider, not so. Odd, as my friends Sprint, and g-friends Trac-One pay per month Moto get 5-bars in ALL areas of the house.

***The killer for this particular LG I feel is the ascending ringer, unless it's by your side you'll miss a lot of calls.

This Phone is SEXYYYYYYYY...take that RAZR!

Jan 7, 2007 by Lovely

i love this phone! very sexy! LG u guys did extremely good with this one...

i just got the phone on Christmas day, n prior to that i read up on the reviews u guys put which made my analysis a bit bias because i went straight for the cons when playing with the phone, n this is what i have found...

PROS

-this phone is SEXY! the appearance is HOT! very slim, but not too slim like the RAZR n doesn't feel like its going to break like the RAZR
-i hate the way the RAZR n KRZR have those bulky speaker things attached to the bottom of the phone, makes the phone look ugly, n makes the interior LCD screen small, but the LGCU500 doesn't have this issue
-very cute clamshell design, n very sturdy feeling, like i see ppl r complaining about the size of the side keys, well GET OVER IT, i have skinny fingers so i have no problems with it, i think its sexy
-the buttons are way better than the RAZR's too thin appeal, n this is coming from someone with really skinny fingers who shouldn't have a problem, but i use my nails for it
-speaker is clear and crisp!
-my service in this area with cingular is hot! never drops calls, i live in the suburbs of D.C., in Maryland, in the D.C. metropolitan area so I still get 3G service n might i add that its super fast
-i love the swivel camera, very useful n helpful for self portraits w/o using a mirror like many result to
-love the music buttons on the outside, n the mp3 rox, very crisp n clear

CONS

-fingerprint prone yes, but come on now ppl just wipe the phone down like u usually do after calling someone since oil from ur hair n skin gets on it n dont touch it when ur hands are oily, simple!
-flimsy protective flap over charge port but deal with it! lol
-microSDslot is behind the battery which makes it hard to get out, but again, deal with it cuz I have lol

overall hot phone! a must buy!!!!! i would recommend it to all!!!!!!!!! take that RAZR!!!! i doubt i will ever go back to u RAZR again...

Very cool phone.

I love this phone! I had looked at both the Samsung SYNC, and the cu500 from cingular (which were their best phones). Ended up with the cu500 since the SYNC wasn't sold anywere near me. Totally awsome phone though. I've been tinkering around with it for the last couple days and must say that I'm truly amazed at how advanced this phone is compared to many others being sold now. The sound quality is awsome, as well as its music playing features which are quite good when you buy a microSD card for the phone. I bought a 512mb microSD card from Circuit City for $28 and switched the phones main memory to it, now I can take up to 3000 high quality pictures! Battery life is also very good, on a full charge it stayed at full even after playing music for an hour, and talking for about a half hour.

Pro's:
-Feels great in your hands/ not flimsy
-Excellent reception/ call quality
-Does it all, from music to internet
-Battery life is above par
-Decent camara (just dont expect it to replace your regular digital camara).
-Well orginized menus; that are very fast too.
-When using a memory card, you can upload/download ANYTHING; ringtones, MP3, pictures, wallpapers...
-Very good price (I got mine for $50 at Best Buy)

Cons:
-Very crapy microSD slot; I could only get mine out with a mini flathead screwdriver, evem though the pictures show that you can pull it out.
-Anoying message tone that comes up when you change a setting (you can only get rid of it if you silence the phone).

Not too many beefs with me on this phone, I really do love it. Theres alot of people that really try to be synical about this phone, since they have all tried every single phone available. I'm an average cell phone user, my last phone was a LG vx3200 from 2003, and I would say that most people looking for a good multimedia phone, will love this.

No problems here, great great phone!

I love this phone!

PROS
1. Gradual ring-tone keeps me from being blasted out of my chair at home when its next to me.
2. Great MP3 player, good speakers and easy to use controls.
3. 3G is amazingly fast and web-pages open easily.
4. Great camera and video quality in lighted areas.
5. Great signal strength.

CONS
1. No flash, but what do u expect ITS A PHONE!
2. Net browsing and downloading music and videos drains the battery.
3. User guide leaves some operations open to exploration without explaining.

Overall, I love it. Time will tell if it takes over the Razr for top spot in my heart...lol.

Great Phone for Teens

Nov 19, 2006 by beautifuldisaster23

This is a good, easy to use telephone

Pros:
Keypad is easy to use
Sound is incredible!
Great picture, better than I've ever seen and used, and I've seen a lot
Non-cheap feel
Rotating camera- very cool, and comes in handy
Cool ringtones

Cons:
I hardly ever get bars and I have been disconnected (maybe its just where im located)

And this phone is SOO MUCH BETTER than the Samsung D807 in comparison

Overall, great phone, and you should definitly get this one, I've asked professionals, and they say, this is probably the best phone, with the best features on the market.

how.....

I have had this phone for a couple hours and I have these questions. How do you use speaker phone when the phone is closed? can you? everytime i get a call i put it on speaker and shut the phone and it just disconnects. And everytime I download a song to my phone by bluetooth it stores it to my sim card and not my memory. So i have my sim card filled up and nothing on my microsd. someone please help
