My new best friend!!!!

Aug 16, 2006 by misslovely

I first had the LGCU320, but i couldn't get the cingular ringtones to set as a ringer id. So i xchanged it for the samsungd807. Big mistake!!! I then did a 30 day buyers remorse and got the CU500. Everything about this phone is awesome. My favorite is the stereo speakers and the external music player buttons. There are only three things that i don't like. One is that i have to use the tones provided for msgs, two i can't disable the increasing ring, and three the memory card is behind the battery. Other than that i have a lot of people envious of my phone. They say is that a RAZR and i get upset because the only good about a RAZR is that it is thin. This phone is just as thin but has a lot more amenities.

Did not work well in my area

Aug 14, 2006 by celnut

I had the CU500 for 2 days and returned it. My main reason for not keeping it the hard hand-offs between 3G and 2G towers.

Below is my review:

Pro's
Loud Volume
Good Speakerphone
Reception was Good
3G data is very very fast

Con's
Drops calls (during 3g to 2g hand-offs)
Calls sound tinny
Display is 65k (not enough for pixs)
Camera pixs are dark & colors are not good
Handset is large

Good phone so far...

This is a good phone. It functions well and isn't too difficult to learn to use. There are small gripes about some of the features, but I've found that no cell phone is perfect and I would change a lot on most phones. The reception is decent, it could be a little better but its not bad really. I recently visited my parents who live in an extremely low reception area and this phone proved to be up to the task performing as well as both my parents samsungs and my old Motorola v551. 3g is fabulous if you can get it. The speakers sound great. I love the blue tooth and the micro SD slot. Very nice/necessary if you plan to use the music player at all. I would change some of the button functionality. I hate that the middle button does not take me to the menu. Also, on my old Motorola I could change my ring style without opening the phone, this phone does not allow you to do this. The menu functions a bit clunky in my opinion. It could be set up a little better and more customizability would have been nice. It has very nice features built in and you can always download more. I hate demo games and thats all you are given out of the box. Just give me a fully functional game even if its terrible. Overall I really like this phone and would recommend it to anyone looking for a 3g phone.

Niceee music phone

I love this phone.! i've only had it for a couple days.. but the second i got it.. i couldnt get my hands off

I love the music features!

i'll compare it to my v3i so people who are waiting for the v3i.. will check this phone out

v3i--Itunes was nice but theresa song cap. and the speakers weren't very loud.. but sound quality was good.. 4 out of 5.. able to play music when flip closed..and album art is cool

now..

The CU500 has no song cap
I have a 2gb microSD
Very very clear and LOUD speakers
External music keyss
PLAY MUSIC WHILE BROWSING INTERNET

Decent camera
Alot of features in camera.. they're very easy to navigate.. (full scren image capture)
Video records 320x240 unltd

Pros:
-No song cap like itunes phones
-Ability to make playlist on phone!
(v3i had to make them on itunes)
-PRICE! sooo cheap for all the features($80 with contract and rebate online)
-Sound quality is very very good for a phone
-Screen is nice for being only 65k
-Media Net allows almost full web browsing on this phone
-The menus and user interface are very simple
-Easy to customize
-External Music keys
-Size-not too big or small.. and thickness is perfect
-Weight-not heavy at all
-Appearance- it's a pretty sexy phone in real life
-Keypad- lay out is really nice.. no need to even open a menu!
-Cingular Video is easy to use and entertaining
-Task button- do multiple things at once
-also bluetooth.. IM.. and all the other standard good stuff!

Cons:
-No speakerph with flip closed
-Scren is small in comparison to phone
-catches fingerprints and smudges really easily
-Proprietary usb cable not mini usb
-microSDslot is behind battery-hard to get out (used tweasers)

All in all this is a great phone for multimedia.. the Music features are great. so stop waiting for the v3i ! This is a GREAT alternative!!

It's very simple and easy to use.. menus for all the of features were a breeze to use.

Highly recomended if in 3g area!!!

Great Phone

The LG CU500 is a great phone:
Pro's: Very Loud Speaker Sound, Excellent Pictures comes out crisp and clear, 2 displays, one inner and one outer, displays stays on outside up to 30 secs if set. Alarm clock is really loud, etc. loaded with lots of functions (2 many to name) The best is the multimedia, emailing, can go to my hotmail, yahoo, AOL with a click of a button, and its very easy.

Con's: I have not figured out how to download my music to my mps player with my USP port from phone to computer, they say i need software, but LG says there isn't any software with this phone, so when I plug divice in, it says no device found, so on that part i'm a little confused. If any one knows how please reply back to me please. The reception sometimes goes fast, but it depends on what you are into, like the mobi tv, etc. Other than that I have no other negative things to say about this phone.

This is the best phone that I have gotten from Cingular wireless thus far out of all of my phones.

This phone is pretty great. Great sound quality, great color quality, great camera, great media speed, easy to use system.

Here's my pros and cons...

PROS:
Call quality
3G FAST
EDGE FAST
Camera
Outer display
Micro SD
Look
Default ringers

CONS:
MP3's are confusing
A little large when opened

This is truely a great phone, a little expensive though!

Not to my expectation

For use as phone and for text messaging, the phone is ok but for it's multimedia capabilities, there are so much to be desired.

I'll go straight to my gripes:

1) The phone has two players - the Music Player and Multimedia Player. The Music Player won't play AAC but the Multimedia Player can. The problem with the Multimedia Player are: it does not work with the clamshell closed and can't redirect the sound to the stereo bluetooth. Only the Music Player can redirect the sound to the bluetooth. I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970.

2) You can't organized your music into directories, they must be in the root directories of the card. You can create a playlist but you can sort them only by moving the titles up or down. Very tedious. If you use iTunes and created your filenames with track numbers, it's a serious problem.

3) I was hoping to tether this phone to my laptop via bluetooth and use its 3G capabilities. According to Cingular, to do this you must purchase the $65/month DataConnect. I can connect to the Edge and GPRS but it's still very slow. I have 3G in my area.

4) The package does not include a USB cable. According to LG customer service, the original packaging included one.

The 3G capabilities are excellent but I'm returning this phone and hope they improve the software.

This phone is absolutely phenomenal! I am very happy with it! The music player is great, and it feels nice and sturdy! The price of the phone kinda scared me, but after playing with it, I really like it. The screens are decent, and the menu style is very user friendly. For the price, its the best phone Cingular has to offer!

Cons:
No Flash

Ed. note: removed commercial / contact info

Dissapointing Phone

Oct 30, 2006 by CPCO55

This phone was highly recommended by the sales person at cingular. I bought it yesterday and already have problems. I will return the phone tomorrow, and have never returned a phone before. I rarely return anything for that matter. Pros and Cons

Cons-
Right away I noticed that whatever the phone was made from made it easy to leave finger prints all over it. It looked like a mess about 20 minutes after I bought it.

Not easy to text. If you love to text, this isn't the phone for you. Hard to get to, can't push down a button to get a number- example would be you can't just hold down the 2 button to get a 2, you have to push the 2 button four times. Also, the buttons aren't accurate and often times when you push it 2 or 3 times to get a certain letter, it is a push behind.

Every move you make in this phone and confirm an action, it makes a loud annoying chime that can't be turned off. If you are using this at work or school where you have to be quiet this won't work.

Battery life is poor. I barely used it today and it's down 1 bar. It was fully charged this am.

All menus are hard to get to. It seems like there are several ways to get to similar menus, but none are easy. It isn't the phone where you punch around while you drive, you have to really pay attention.

Last and not least SOUND. The first call I made on this phone I knew that it wasn't going to work. You can't hear people well at all, it reminds me of phones I had years ago when the technology wasn't great.

Pros

Quick Internet and camera features

Clear big picture (what sold me) 1.3 MP which was a big selling point and what he really pushed. Note- phones go all the way up to 2.0 MP so it isn't best of the best.

Mp3 about 100 songs

The speaker option for music is loud

This might be a good phone for a teen who wants the music option more than the quality, but for the price you could buy something better all the way around.
I was sold the sizzle not the steak.
Don't fall for it.
