Great so far !!

Jul 23, 2002 by Russ W

Only had my Kyocera 2235 for a few days, but I can tell you this... It sure kicks butt on the Motorola v120c.

The 2235 has a very cool blue display, easy to use menus, and decent sound. My only gripe is I wish they would have put Voice and Text mail in the same "In Box" otherwise a very cool phone!!

i like it a lot

blue light is cool.
fits my hand nicely.
nice selection of ring tones.

i haven't had a problem with the sound quality-- no one has complained.

i wish the web browser showed more lines of text. at least it shows graphics, unlike the browser on many motorola phones.

i didn't suffer any of the build quality problems that another user posted about (mine feels quite solid)... also none of the lockup problems, which apparently are now fixed with the newest rev of the firmware.

i haven't used the 1xRTT...

Tops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never owned a piece of equipment that has proven itself to be as efficient as this........would'nt recommend anything else!!!!

What a crappy phone.

I gave it "1 out of 5" because of the fact that it's one of the first 1xRTT handsets on the market, and the coolness of the blue display. Overall, this phone is full of design and manufacturing flaws. The blue LEDs on my phone radiate different colors, one side of the phone is more greenish, while the other side is almost purple. The battery cover is loose and flimsy, which makes a lot of crackling sounds when you are trying to hit a button. The software performance is very sluggish, frequently stalls the phone, as though it's about to lock up. Silent function doesn't work while the charger is plugged in. Sound quality is average at best, lack of richness and crisp. Battery life is decent, and the only thing that really stand out is the SmartSound feature, which elevates the volume when you are in a noisy environment. The keys have a decent tactile feedback, but very hard to push. I can't imagine using these keys to browse the web. I really think Motorola and Samsung are the leader in CDMA handsets. The 2235's quality just doesn't match up to those standards.

Great Phone

I have been very happy with this phone and have never had any trouble with it.

ok for a few months

Jul 14, 2003 by Jen Gonzales

The battery life is very short. After 6 months the screen shorted out. Had it replaced and the next screen went haywire in 5 months. "End call button" very touchy and will turn phone back on when in my backpack or purse with just a touch.
I only like the background lighting.

do not buy!!!

Seriously this phone is horrible, I went through 3 of these phones, and it was just pathetic. The screen broke on all 3, and on the third one, I had it for 2 weeks and I couldn't see or hear anything, making the phone totally useless.

And it wasn't me, I protect the phone. Don't buy Kyocera. I just switched over to the Motorola T720 and I like it so much better.

Good Phone for a Good Price

My previous cell phone experience has been with Motorola. This was my first Kyocera and I am very happy with the performance. I do not have dropped calls (main compliant with last phone), menus are easy, backlight is cool and reception is good. I have no problems with battery life as mentioned by others. My only improvement would be a few enhancements (i.e. one touch) to the contacts. I do not have a land line and therefore my phone gets a lot of use and I am happy with my 2235.

Excellent Proformer

This phone really works well. Nice reception both in listening and talking. No dropped calls yet. Very crisp and clear audio. I live in Albuquerque NM and love this phone and Verizon service. The display is very cool looking and easy to read and the phone has nice features. It is small and easy to carry in your pants pocket. I highly recommend this phone.

USB Data Cable Charger Weirdness

Feb 15, 2002 by Steven Scharf

With the USB data cable (not sure about
the serial) there is a power connector so
you can charge the phone while you're
online (the charging socket on the phone
is blocked by the connector of the data
cable).

Unfortunately, the power connector on
the USB data cable requires the charger
from a different phone (the QCP3035); the 2235 charger doesn't plug into it.

So you've got to carry an extra charger with
you to use with the data cable.

They explain this on the Kyocera web site at:
