Any phone is good when the price is right

Nov 22, 2007 by FW

I got this refurbished phone with Pay & Talk plan of Telus at $80. It comes with a $50 activation credit. So the phone essentially cost $30. It is probably a bargain to even get a 2MP camera at this price, lest to say other bells and whistles. I found every feature works as expected with no glitch. I particularly like FM radio and 2MP camera which cannot be found at even $200 price level. In addition, unlike LG 8500, the camera can be activated without opening the slider so I can take pictures sneakily. If I have any complaint, it is the size. But hey, 4 years ago a typical 2MP digital camera is that bulky.

Do NOT get this

I got this phone first week of February for my birthday, great present right? well it was... till beginning of June when the screen started freezing up and going black. i took it to the Cricket store and they shipped me a new one saying it was just a malfunction and all I had to do was pay a replacement fee. New phone...again. worked fine till now where it did the same thing... I've had 6 friends who have owned this phone plus my two that have done this. DONT GET IT! honestly save the ~$300 and buy an LG or Moto or something that works longer than 4 and a half ish months.

coming from someone who now has to buy a new, full price phone because everyone is discontinuing this one, don't waste the time or money.

Was nice until now.....

I bought this phone from a family member because she switches service providers and could no longer use it. It was almost brand new. I've had the phone for about 8 months now and it was a good phone. Now the phone keeps freezing up everytime i turn it on. Its a struggle to make it work. I have no idea what's wrong with it and im looking for a new phone.

Pro's
Great Camera
Bluetooth
Mp3 player and Radio
Memory card slot
Very small and light weight
Has great reception (with US Cellular)

Con's
The speaker phone doesnt work good..you can barley hear the other person talking
Mine only has one theme on it so its pretty boring that you can never change it.
And the fact that after you have it for a while it starts to act up and freeze up..sometimes the phone will totally black out for no reason. Alot of people that have this phone that i talked to also had the same problem once they had it for a few months.

So luckily i didnt have to pay much for it because i bought it from a relative. It was a nice phone until it started acting up.
So i probably would not recomend it.

Love the phone but....it died....twice.

Aug 24, 2007 by goldenhoney

When I first got this phone, I fell in love with it. It really had everything I ever needed (and more) in a phone.

It was only until 8 months into owning the phone the problems started. It died on me twice for no reason at all, about a month apart. Literally, right after Nokia "repaired" it, it died again. Needless to say, I was quite annoyed. I lost all my contacts and pictures and everything.

I'm on the Telus network and I can get a signal with this phone pretty much anywhere (even at the beach).

PROS
decent call quality
customizable everything (menus, buttons)
calling card feature
2.0 mega pixel phone (it's very good)
mp3 player (don't really use it)
timed profiles

CONS
died on me twice (GRRR!!!)
slider sometimes closes disconnecting calls (the feature can be turned off though)
quiet ring tones (not loud at all)
quiet vibrate function
hard to hear people when in a really noisy place
REALLY SLOW everything (menus, calls, web EVERYTHING)
freezes occasionally

If the phone wasn't so buggy, I'd keep it.

I really really like this phone though.

Great with Cellular South

Jul 16, 2007 by allstarecho

Once you find the applications for this Series 40 Nokia 6265i phone, it beats most PDAs out there, including Treo and Motorola Q. I check, reply and create emails for my regular server based pop3 email accounts as well as Hotmail and Gmail. I have maps and driving directions. I have a Yahoo/AIM/Google/Jabber instant messaging app. Opera Mini for internet browsing of any and all web pages, looking how they were intended to look instead of broken down by the Nokia Openwave browser. I can view and control my home computer from this phone (see it on my phone as if I were sitting in front of it and actually moving the mouse and controlling it). The only thing it can't do - and this is where a Blackberry beats this phone - is push email. The apps are free all around the internet.

I got this phone when Cellular South started carrying it - a year ago.

Pros:
>Excellent call quality.
>Ringtones/Alerttones are loud.
>Battery lasts all day, even when running all those apps I mentioned above.
>Syncs to Mozilla Thunderbird using Nokia Synchronization extension
>Superb camera. Great still pictures.
>SD card slot for up to 2GB of storage.

Cons:
>Operating system is a bit sluggish but this is common on Nokia phones.
>Video with this phone won't be pretty but of course it's not a video camera, it's a phone first.

Worked good for 7 months.

I do like the phone but Nokia discontinued offering it to all US cellular stores only months after it became available. They are going to try to fix mine. If after 2 months they cannot repair it, I have to buy another new phone for 2 or 3 hundred dollars. Discontinuing new phones 180 days after unveiling it is a great way to sell more phones and make more revenue from the retail customer, Don't you think?

Nokia 6265I slider phone

I work as an agent for US Cellular. I bought this phone on my own personal account. It has a better camera and video capabilities vs. the motorola razr and krzr (which have only 1.3 mege pizels).

PROS:
-awesome sound quality
-easy to use
-easy to personalize
-2.0 megapixel camera
-video capture (can pause and continue)
-ability to move files from phone memory to memory card
-good battery life
-awesome reception
-clear screen
-can use mp3 songs as ringtones! (download from computer onto memory card)

CONS:
-headphones hook thru data port, not normal headset jack
-has headset jack but needs adapter to fit regular headphones
-microphone was defective, had it repaired, still has issues (could happen to any phone though!)
-cannot store downloaded copyrighted items to memory card
-doesnt save settings if wallpaper/ringtone is used from memory card when memory card is removed. have to reset once memory card is put back in (it can be a pain if you have specific ringers assigned to specific contacts)

Overall, it is a great phone. Comes with a lot. Very dependable. And like all nokias, very durable!!

U.S. Cellular Sales Rep/ Happy Nokia owner

I have owned a Samsung, Sanyo, LG and Moto and I have to that this Nokia is by far the most outstanding phone I have owned. I am an authorized agent and the only phone that compares to the 6265i currently is the Moto K1m KRZR and its camera is not comparible to the 2 MP camera on this baby. The software that Nokia uses is also much simpler and overall more efficient than that of Moto's by a long shot.

The mini SD card slot is also very easy to use. I have loaded over 200 songs onto my 6265i and use a bluetooth stereo at home. I have the two devices set up so that whenever the phone is near the stereo all I have to do is turn on the mp3 player (which by the way is very easy to use)and the stereo starts playing whatever I choose. It is very convienient and I can not believe more people dont take advantage of capabilities on their phones.

Overall impression
Pros: Wonderful peice of equipment. Easy to use, never dropped a call, outstanding camera picture quality, when saving to the SD unlimited video time is possible, speakerphone is amazing and so is the bluetooth data transfer capability, the phone has a overall feel of outstanding construction and build quality.

Cons: Short Battery life due to large QVGA monitor, the internal memory is only 26 MB, the phone is a little large compared to something like the Katana or the V3 and it is heavier than those phones as well. But I like that.

Overall: BEST PHONE I HAVE OWNED
