long-time Nokia fan giving his 2 cents

Aug 16, 2006 by Kebbers

I own a Nokia 6280, not a 6270. However, there isn't much of a difference between the two models aside from 2 things: the 6280 has a 2MP camera, and externally the 6270 is boxier and slightly larger than the 6280. Nevertheless, both are slider GSM phones, both have expandable memory via miniSD cards, mp3 playing/camera shooting functions, and they were both released at the same time.

This is a terrific all-in-one phone. I haven't run into anyone else in northern California that owns this phone other than myself, so it'll definitely set you a cut above the others. Honestly, you can't go wrong with it - I've even dropped it on hardwood floor, and the bugger's still alive!

I just have 3 small caveats about it:

1) after a few months of usage, the sliding screen gets a bit loose and jiggly when closed up. I suspect there aren't any gliding guiders at the bottom of the sliding screen to hold it down firmer to the main housing. Hopefully, it's a simple problem that can be fixed without it costing me an arm and a leg.

2) the camera function has a 1-second pause before capturing a shot, reminiscent of Canon digital cameras. Slightly annoying, but doesn't detract from the 2MP quality.

3) I wished the speaker was on the top of the phone. Since it's on the side of the phone, it's not as audible from your pocket (unlike my girlfriend's Nokia 6682, which is a good 2-levels louder than my 6280).

other than that, my opinion on this phone: I'd hit it.

Nokia 6270 Excellent Phone

I have never given a phone a rating of 5 before but this one deserves it.

Great reception
Great sound quality
Easy user interface
2mp camera is excellent
Stereo speakers sound very good

The phone is a little large, about the size of a small camera; Doesn't bother me since all features function so well. I haven't tried the voice dial yet but hear it doesn't work so well.

I highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants good reception, a very good camera & excellent overall phone but does not mind it being a little large.

New Generation Nokia 5+!

This is really an amazing Nokia phone.
Out of all 2mp Nokia phones this one is the only one that works perfectly as a phone and has a normal mature design with large keypad layout. I've been using this phone for a week and here is the first impression:

PROS:
-Excellent design
-Amazing sound quality
-Excellent Stereo FM radio (no headset required)
-Beautiful quality loud stereo ringtones
-Very fast and very friendly menu interface
-2mp sensor is of normal quality (of course not a digital camera yet)

I haven't found any Cons yet.
I only wonder to one thing: Why isn't this phone on the U.S. market yet?

nice clear screen, lots of options, wanted a quad-band phone so didn't want G3 or other options. Easy to use. Off to Cingular tomorrow for them to add their medianet, internet, web stuff and for them to put the quick-dial to retrieve messages.
