$550.00???....Uh yeah

Jun 13, 2006 by alanboi

For what you get, this phone is a total ripoff especially this close to the release date here in the US. It has no special or outstanding features besides its "revolutionary" design and it has a really crappy battery life. The V3 also cost about $500 when it first made its debut here, once only avaible through cingular. Wait a few months and you'll be able to get this phone for around 200 with a service agreement.

Nice but pricy

Buttons a little small. High $$. Very nice heavy duty quality. Just not the exact one for me.

Not worth the $$

I am one of the suckers that paid $800 for this phone. I have always been extremely satisfied with Nokias and waited a long time until this phone became avaliable. I've owned it for a little over a month now, (unfortunately I didn't make up my mind until AFTER the 30 day return policy ran out!) I thought I'd give it a try and maybe the initial issues were just getting used to a different type of phone. Wrong!

Pros:
Looks VERY cool!!
ummm......that's IT!

Cons:
Super short battery life! You have to recharge it EVERY night.

No downloadable ringtones. And I don't care for the ones that come on it. They are too quiet, and the ones that are loud sound like a prono flick!

Very small buttons. Texting is completely out with the buttons set up the way they are.

More dropped calls, and not very clear

Ugh, the list goes on. I'm gonna try to sell mine on eBay and I'm buying a RAZR, which is what I should have bought in the first place!

This phone is great. It just drips quality. Better then my old V3.

Pros:
Excellent Voice quality
Great RF
Great Speaker phone
Best construction of any phone I have used

Cons:
Battery Life could be better

Masterpiece from Nokia

Currently I am using 8 phones in the U.S..
(v600,v620,v3,rokr,d500,d600,s60 + 8801 )

8801 does not have best phone quality.
(v620- the most clear&loud call quality)

BUT, call quality of 8801 is superb.
Strong signal (I love nokia's for this)
and fairly loud&clear call quality.
(still 4.5 for call quality.)

Pros.

- Stylish

- building quality - perfect & solid.

- simple & all real aluminium.

- Nice call quality (good reception)

- Bluetooth and simple menu(good for me)

- it's rare... (because it's expensive
and personally I like this fact...
it's not like v3.)

As a phone (not a toy) 8801 is awesome.
When I use it, many people ask about
this phone and like it.

well crafted gadget for stylish people.

+ Package is nice. (2batteries + Dock)

- 2 batteries.
- you can charge 2 batteries at the same
time through a cool docking charger.
(when you detach a dock, handy travel
charger.)
- earphone, phone case + cool case.

Cons.

personally, I think phone can be little bit

larger. (it's small and thin. keep thinness)

- Small screen & Small keypad

(find for me, yet might be bad for others)

- Need more bells

- Need louder ringing sound & call quality

8801 shows what Nokia is doing in Europe.

I'm waiting for titanium edition. :)

I know it's expensive, but

you're going to live this small luxury.

Sweet Phone

This is a really good cell phone. It has all the features that I need plus some I'll never use!

PROs:
sleek executive style form, tons of features, solid feel, great pc software package, and awesome light show from the charging base!

CONs:
tiny buttons, the included ring tones all sound like asian tv jingles, the phone is so nice i.e. expensive that I hesitate to take it out in case it gets damaged so I mostly leave it in its jewelers bag and hen I do I always wash my hands first lol..

The signal strength and sound quality are excellent. My carrier is Fido in Montreal.
I am looking forward to see how well it performs on the road.

cheers :)
