I THINK I'm going to like this phone

Nov 18, 2005 by garybob

The 'cute' appearance of this phone first attracted my attention (mine came with a navy faceplate, the pink faceplate was an included extra... i'll stick w/ navy). The first think i DIDN'T like about the phone was the joystick.. . I had trouble navigating with it at first, it was too easy to press it down rather than side to side, etc. After entering all my numbers (my prev phone didn't have a sim card) I think I'm getting use to it. That will probably be the determining factor in whether or not I keep the phone.

Other neat features... a stopwatch and timer, nice for me b/c I don't wear a watch and occasionally need a stopwatch at work.

The lack of a camera is not an issue for me... I have a 2mp cam in my vehicle, a 6mp cam in my work vehicle, a 1.2mp on my palm pilot... no, cant send them to anyone without first downloading to a pc, but its still not an issue for me.

If I can get used to the joystick, I think I'm going to love it. Only had it a couple of days. The price (0.99), and the 'cute' factor is why I chose it, but found a few features I wasn't expecting (timer, stopwatch, voice memo, etc.)

Major reception and stability improvements

May 14, 2006 by Carlx

The most important functions are better than previous models. This may be classified as a lower end phone, but the call quality is much better than the [guessing] soon-to-be-dead t290, which wasn't a bad deal for it's intended markets (free with contract or $40 prepaid kit).

I bought it unlocked from Amazon.com (full review posted there) for $112, and I don't regret it even with a few gripes from me and blunt service from SE. I finally have a cool phone with most of the fancy SE features AND good call quality.

I got this for my 17yr old daughter and she loves it. Not alot of technology for her to try and figure out. She also has made the comment that her reception has improved 10x. Way to go SE Good Job

J300a - Great Talk-time & Reception

Mar 5, 2006 by Austiniter

This J300a is not only tiny, but has the best talk-time and reception of any phone I've utilized to-date. I enjoy about 4 hours of talk-time before having to recharge the battery, the reception is awesum thanks to the loop antenna. You can also purchase a Sony Deskstand whereby you can simply insert your J300a and utilize it as a speakerphone. This phone does not have a camera but for someone who wants a workhorse and talk time of 4 hours will definitely want to explore buying this phone.

Nothing Great

I understand that Sony Ericsson wanted to release a phone that was cheap to make and cheap to purchase, but they went way to budget on this phone. The phone comes in a horrible bright pink that is obviously for little girls and is meant for them to have fun. However, the phone does not even have a camera! The phone is only dual band and I find the "clip holder" bar at the top an annoyance.

The phone's only advantage are its dimensions. The phone is quite small and is the lightest cell phone in mass production (not counting that stupid Nokia 7280).

I know they could have made a much better phone for that money. If I'm in the budget where I'm only going to spend $20 on a phone on a 3 year term, I'd only spend it if it was for a little girl in bright pink. Otherwise, I'd go with something else.

You've let me down SE
