2nd Gen Bluetooth....

Jun 16, 2006 by alanboi

When the pebl first made its debut it came equipped with the standard ver 1.2 bluetooth. The 06 models now have ver 2.0 which is capable of a 300ft radius which I have found extremely useful. You can put the phone on the dining room table, walk around the house check your mailbox and never loose your phone call while the handset remains in the house.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!

I started to buy the RAZR instead of the PEBL because I was looking for a new phone anyway. But then I realized that since I decided to buy the PEBL, no one else would have this phone besides the RAZR. Now I'm glad I did buy this phone because no one I know has it. And I love it. This is the cutest phone I have ever owned. I love the way it looks, the way it feels, and the way it works. It's way faster than any of my previous Motorola phones. Plus it's small and very shapely round and smooth. It actually feels like a riverbed rock. I may never buy another Motorola again after this PEBL because there's no other phone like it. Some of my friends, coworkers, and even family even said that they haven't seen anyone else with this phone because everyone else has the RAZR. Now everyone I know wants the PEBL. It's sweet and the RAZR doesn't even come close. Hail to the PEBL, the new queen of Motorola!!!

I'M SATISFIED AGAIN

I just returned that miserable excuse of a cellphone (Samsung T809) yesterday, and picked up this PEBL as a "temporary" until the price of the Nokia 8801 comes down. After 24 hours with this PEBL, I don't need to look any further. Before the Samsung I had the RAZR; this phone is better than the RAZR. Sound quality is excellent, menus are very user friendly, I like the small size and the spring-loaded flip. I didn't buy the Bluetooth headset yesterday because again, this was only going to be temporary. I'll be purchasing the Bluetooth as soon as I get off work.

I bought this phone in April because of good reviews, and I can honestly say this is one great phone.....very good reception, excellent sound quality (everyone says it's the clearest sounding cell phone when I call them), great battery life, and surprisingly good picture quality. Also, very solid, not cheap feeling like some phones. By the way, I have T-Mobile service in Michigan.

No one else has it!!!

I recently left Verizon and ported my number over to T-Mobile and couldn't be happier with my decision to come to T-Mobile and the decision to choose the PEBL.

This phone is amazing looking. I would say it is very masculine looking compared to other phones. The all black look is unique and different. I didn't want a RAZR because everyone and their mother has one plus it is a 2yr old design and is about to get replaced with the V3i and V3x.

The service on this phone in Brooklyn, NY so far is better than Verizon in the areas that I travel with the phone. The clarity on this phone puts Verizon to shame.

On to pros and cons of the phone itself since I'm not reviewing T-Mobile:

Pros:
-Sliding/automatic flip (love showing people how to use it when they have trouble flipping it like a normal phone)
-Reception and clarity on calls in Brooklyn
-Internal screen
-Unique looking external display
-Blue tooth without limitations
-Loud ring tones
-Rubber feel to the phone
-Intenna
-Easy to pair my blue tooth headset with the phone
-VGA camera more than adequate
-Motorola skins/themes

Cons:
-Motorola UI could be updated and I think it is starting to look outdated compared to other phone menus (ie Samsung)
-UI can be glitchy or hesitant (second or two behind my key presses sometimes
-Picture ID only on internal screen
-Keypad takes practice to prevent misdials (once you master it, it's an amazing keypad)

Overall I would definitely recommend this phone for the person who wants to use their phone as a phone and not as a camera or MP3 player.

If you want a camera go buy a Canon or Sony. If you want an MP3 player go buy and iPOD.

This phone is simply awesome. The design functionality and its appearance. This phone was a gift to me for my birthday, and boy, am I happy! My brother got it for $250.
Pros:
Design
Functionality

bluetooth
speaker-independent voice command
speaker phone
the open/close flick function
There is too much to say!
weight

Cons:
Price (too expensive)

Excellent Phone but get one unlocked!

The Pebl is indeed one of the best quality and feature rich phones I've owned.

However, for you to be able to access and USE many features of the phone as listed in phone scoop, you do need to pay $25.00 and get it "debranded". In essence, that means to remove Tmobile's view of what features are important.

As an example, after debranding, you will now have access to an email client on the phone (pop & IMAP), SyncML becomes available, The phone will have different apps, one of which is a "safe" for storing passwords, credit card #'s and the like, You'll have more control over the web browser, messaging, and bluetooth connections, and lastly, Java becomes available so that you can install J2ME applications onto the phone to do whatever you want, (there are literally thousands available on the net).
One aside... after debranding, there is also a feature in settings that becomes available called "battery saver". I am assuming this does something because I have experienced unusually long usage times between charges, much better than a Razr by an order of magnitude.

PROS:
[] small form factor/shape.
[] finish (rubbery) is resistant to scratchs so it looks new after alot of use.
[] Feature rich
[] Email, MMS, and SMS messaging are easy to setup and use.
[] Battery life- great!
[] Syncing contacts/calendar to your PC via bluetooth is a breeze. (does require seperate purchase of Moto phone tools from hellomoto.com or Tmobile)
[] Syncing contacts and calendar via syncML (over the air) is nice for corp users.
[] Clarity of sound from earpiece is exceptional for such a small phone.
[] Phone charges from USB port on PC which is handy if you travel.
[] Magnetic opener on clamshell is cool and can be done one handed.

CONS:
[] Features are limited if you use the Tmobile version.
[] keyboard is a bit small.
[] Speakerphone is choppy & tinny (unlike earpiece)

Overall...great phone. Pick one up & you won't put it down.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I got an unlocked, unbranded PEBL in Fiery Red to use with my Cingular SIM.

Overall:

It is not red at all, it is a medium dark maroon with a metallic shine, it looks very classy.

The feel of it is very nice and very comfortable in my hand or in my pocket.

The slide open is very easy to use with one hand.

PROS:
Fantastic Reception-better than any phone I have had after Cingular changed to GSM from TDMA.

Excellent call clarity-no background noise what so ever.

The camera is pretty good for a standard VGA camera.

BT is flawless and easy to pair with.

The voice recognition is great.

The battery life seems to be pretty decent also. It is kind of hard to be exact right now because of my playing with it and using MPT more than I normally would. It will probably be around 3-5 days and turning it off nights.

The modes can be changed from the side button.

The call can be silenced from the side button.

The outside display is very easy to read.

The screen although on the small side is very crisp

CONS:

I don't understand the point of caller ID pictures if it does not show up on the outside screen.

The battery charges every-time I connect the USB cable to use MPT, I am not sure if charging the battery for such short periods of time is good for overall battery life.

This phone is exactly what I wanted, a quad band with graet reception, in perfect size and easy to use.

Awesome!

this phone is absolutly wonderful!! its not only very sleek looking, but quite functional as well! there is a suprise included with the phone that reveals that the phone can be easily opened with one thumb! you simply pull down on the front gently and keep the back of the phone in place and it opens amazingly! its camera could be better, but its good for a camera phone! i love the rings that come on it! only cons, screen could be bigger! great phone!
