Better than Samsung!!!

Jan 1, 2006 by SteveHRocks

I have had this phone for about a month now and I must say that this phone is a better choice than the Samsung MP3 phone that I had for a few days before i traded it on this one. The buttons on the front of the phone are a lot easier to use than the scrollwheel the Samsung came with.
And since I had the LG VX7000 (Black) for over a year before this one the menu structure is very familiar to me and I have no problems with it (other than they could make it appear more 3-D and vivid.)

This phone also has great reception (except in Kentucky where Verizon has very few towers for some reason..anyone know why??).

PROS:
1. Very bright LCD Screens both front and inside.
2. Menu response is very quick.
3. MiniSD storage up to 1GB (for now)
4. You can set videos as wallpaper! (Would be a little cooler if you could make them loop.)
5. Speakerphone. (One feature my excellent VX7000 was missing.)
6. Bluetooth. (Although I don't use it, I am sure I will get around to it.)
7. Tons and tons of more stuff that has already been mentioned here.

CONS:
I really only have one con.. and its not really even a con. My VX7000's battery WAS the battery door. The 8100 has a seperate battery. Sometimes the battery door feels a little flimsy, but I am sure that it could be just me.

Overall I would GREATLY recommend this phone to anyone that lives in a Verizon area (most of the country.) I just wish Verizon would get some more towers all over Kentucky since I have a lot of family there and travel often and when I do I have to take my Cingular phone with me too.

A+ Phone

I have had this phone since it came out and i love it! I had the LG VX-8000 before this and liked it as well but this is much better. It is very small and much more comfortable than the 8000. I have the Motorola HS850 bluetooth earpiece it works great with this phone, i will leave my phone laying around the house while i walk around the house with my earpiece and i never get any static or problems. I have the 512MB miniSD for MP3s, Pix, and Videos. On MP3's and Videos the stereo speakers sound really good, not as loud as a nextel but very comfortable hearing level. Service wise i don't have any problems I'm in Detroit, MI and have no problems with signal. From time to time i will have only 2 or 3 signal bars but it never drops calls. The VCAST is faster than the 8000 and very clear sometimes buffers in low signal areas but doesn't affect your video much, besides that i like the VCAST. I give it a thumbs up for anybody considering buying the LG VX-8100

Great all around phone

Upgrade from the lg 6000. Very impressed on this phone .
Now that they just came out with the 1 gig mini sd card I can put 200-300 songs and listen instead of lugging my Ipod everywhere with my phone.

Camera not bad at all. Video and all the many other things you can do is great.
I done a lot of research on this phone and being that is was FREE with another 2 yr contract . How can you beat it ?
Signal is great, voice activation is great . Bluetooth I will be using as well told is great too.
I can't really say anything bad other than sometimes a bit low on volume and that may have to do with signal strength of where I am at the time of the call.
I was considering the Razr but when I did my research on this phone , this is far better choice with all the different things g you can do .
WE ALL LIKE OPTIONS , if you want to limit yourself go buy the Razr .

Solid Phone, Mushy Results

I have had this phone for about a month now so I decided it was a good time to write a review.

PROS:
Great high quality dual color screen; love the screen on the front and that you can have different wallpapers on the front & inside screens.
Read text messages on front screen-great!
Speaker phone works great; never had a complaint.
Relatively small-fits into all cell phone pockets on coats, purses, bags etc nowadays.
Feels like a sturdy phone. Much improved from the hinge on the 6000 that felt weak.

CONS:
2 second delay on camera, which doesn't matter unless you're trying to take a picture of something that moves. ie a dog, person etc. my pics are almost always blurry.
I hate that you have to use the same button for both video and photos so that I'm always having to toggle between the two.
I hate that the camera can be accessed through the button on the side, mainly b/c I hit it about every time I'm using the phone and the phone beeps loudly in my ear.
I have had several complaints about my voice sounding muffled while speaking and the ear piece constantly is shifting from loud to quiet to loud.
I hate the way the text messaging is set up on this phone you have to hit the OK button way too many times for it to get to the message part, but it is fun that you can change the font and the colors on them-though people have to have a pretty high tech phone like ours to be able to receive the italics or boldface.
Lack of quality ringers-VZW just wants us to "get it now" and I feel cheated.

Overall, this phone is durable, feels like a good piece of equipment and does what a phone is supposed to do: call people. If i had to do it over again, I may have gotten the 6100 since I am never going to use video, MP3 or even Vcast, but VZW offers so few cool phones that this was really my only choice. It's a little $$ too.

best phone i've ever owned...

Dec 8, 2005 by bigbri73

Alright, maybe it's not the prettiest thing you've
ever seen...
Anyways, I'm a musician, and this phone can
hold a lot of music for an extra $78 or so(1 GB mini SD).
While I admit not really caring about "cool" cell
phones anymore, I do have to admit that although
I think ipod's are great, I don't like carrying a bunch
of stuff around with me. Holding over 250 songs
is enough for me outside of my place and my car.
Phone is very solid, and though not very small
still has a bunch of useful features. The interface
is totally instinctive, and is very ergonomic when it comes to design. I had a razr, but never felt like it
was a very "comfortable" phone to use at all- but it
looks cooooool man, and that's what cell's are for,
right to look cooooooooool! PLEASE! This phone at
this phase of it's life cycle is more than you could ask
for 1.3 MP cam, great MP3 player(w/ optional card), great battery life, and of course the least important, GREAT reception. Peace.

Love It!

I LOVE this phone! I don't find it too large or bulky. I especially love the MP3 player and the memory card slot. Since I have had the phone I hardly ever use my digital camera (unless it is a special occasion) or my iPod. So the larger size of the phone doesn't really matter when it takes the place of two other devices.
The camera delay is kind of annoying, but other than that, I love the phone--especially the outside buttons that can be used to view missed calls, to read text messages, or listen to MP3s.

Location Issues

Dec 3, 2005 by havok226

I was reading an above post and read dialing 922 would give location, that's a flat lie. dialing 922 got me touch with the county sherrif who send a squad car to the motel I was at with other employees from my company. DON'T DIAL 922 ! Other than that I love this phone. The pictures are clear, the video and audio is decent, but the ringtones and music are awesome. The web browser works well, and the battery life is enough even for a cell-a-holic like me.

Good Phone

Nov 30, 2005 by Platinumoto

I can barely hear callers through the ear piece (they are very quiet) and ear piece volume is on the highest level.

The phone will ring while on "No Sounds" which is quite embarrassing while in the office.
