Best Verizon Phone Right Now!

Jan 11, 2006 by jackwhite68

This has got to be the BEST phone Verizon has to offer right now. Not only does it look good, it works good and is also built good!
PROs:
Build
Design
Front Display
BT

CONs:
None I Can Think Of

This is just an overall great phone. Can't go wrong with this one. Tried the Razr and it doesn't even come close.

How to work the MP# player...

Aug 28, 2005 by Jmersh

Here's the inside scoop on the MP3 capability for the 8100: Original Plans were to couple EVDO network (wireless broadband) with an MP3 subscription option kinda like the ipod icast. Initial marketing tests determined that the network isn't quite ready for the demand that would be associated with it, so you CAN add an SD card to your phone.

First, put the empty card in your phone and allow the phone to format the card, then the only way to add files to that card is via a USB external card reader. Most integrated card slots on Sony Viao type pcs/laptops will simply see them as write protected, (unless you have a hack to get around it). Once the MP3s are there, You're good to go, only one catch--the player will stop when you close the phone.

And how do you play the MP3s? Here's how:

Press Menu 0, enter password 000000, go to get it now (option 9), then Option 16 and open the Media Player, choose continuous play to go automatically from one song to the next.

Have fun!

And by the way, there is a current software update in the works that will fully enable the MP3 capabilities Soon. Check with your local VZW corporate store for availabilty.

Best LG ever

The 8100 is by far the most solid phone I have ever owned. The flip screen has zero side to side movement (my pet peeve). The only drawback is the ear piece volume is a little low (even on high setting). That is a minor complaint, however. When VZW starts the MOD (Music On Demand) service, the Mp3 player will work then. It seems to have strong reception too. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the 8100 will not share the random shutdown bug that the 8000 had. A little too expensive, but an overall great phone.

kicks the sh_t out of e815

I started with the e815. Actually I received 2 on mistake from a verizon kiosk. They activated the display and gave me a new 1 in the box. With that I had some leverage to get the 8100 a few days early. So glad I did there is no comparison between the two. The 8100 has:

Better reception
Better quality
Indestructible
Beautiful screens
Very fast and efficient menus
Great camera
Don't forget the disco lights!
I don't know why people are saying the sounds fade in and out! I can drive 70 down the road with the radio on and here just fine. I work in a very noisy area where I have to ware ear protection and I can still answer the phone and hear just fine with ear protection still on.

Motorola:
Built very poorly
Had for 2 nights and had to remove the battery to reset 3 times
Very poor camera
Heard nothing but echos
I tried the 710, went through 4 of them in 2 weeks then got the 7000. Thought motorola might have improved say gave them another try. Once crapola always crapola.

Lg Rulz and you know what they say about motorola!

Nice phone, but in need of a software update

Jul 23, 2005 by arouth

I've been playing around with the Lg vx8100 for a week now, and so far I like what I see. However there are some problems with this phone that need to be addressed by Lg and Verizon.

I'll start with the Pros:

1. Good reception (except for a volume issue
2. Stylish and good feel
3. Lg interface is very nice.
4. Good battery life

Now for the cons:

1. Crippled bluetooth, mp3 player
2. The phone I have has a volume issue, call quality goes up and down sometimes.

Overall I really like this phone. It is in need of a software update. I've noticed a lot of negative reviews up and I can honestly say the phone does not deserve it. Its not perfect, but its still a good phone. Once they work out the bugs it will be a huge hit like the vx6000.

The Best Phone I ever Owned and still own!!!

Amazing durable phone, once offered by Verizon

Dec 1, 2010 by narn3049

I dropped and tossed this thing so many times, and it always worked. The phone was simply the best, and the most durable. I liked that I could read the text on the front if read when received was on. This helped tons when I shattered the inside screen until my new phone came, and was sad to see they took it away from the 8300 I got as the replacement. Overall excellent phone, and I think and hope you will enjoy it if by chance you get to own it

Best phone I've EVER owned!

PROS: It does just about everything that a phone of that generation does! This phone was an upgrade from my Motorola V300 from T-Mobile (I'll explain that later). But the multi-coloured lighting on the crystal when you receive a call, text,or voicemail, the speakers on the side-that's what set it off for me! Sometimes when you're in a hollow place, those speakers will blast a room to kingdom come! You can switch from music to mp3 format (provided you have the chip with you music on it), your wallpapers can match-you had a front wallpaper as well as you main wallpaper when you opened the phone-AND you could use the videos that you recorded as a wallpaper, too (now THAT was cool)! At the time that I bought it, it even made the covers of some magazines-I forget which ones. But this phone's popularity had overshadowed some international models that were extremely popular! This phone was not a disappointment in ANY way, shape, form or fashion. Even though I no longer use this phone anymore-unless to play some musicon it-I still have it at home, and I play with it every now and then. And BTW, when you receive a text, you didn't even have to open the phone to read it, you virtually read the message with the phone shut! I hope LG makes something similar to this again-with more stuff, of course! This phone was worth every penny!

CONS: Aside from its bulky size (it was a cumbersome phone because it was so thick), this phone froze on me one time unlike my current phone, but the only issue that I had with this phone was that videos were only 15 seconds! And that was with the chip inside! Other than those petty little perks, this phone was before its time, and had very little-if any-idiosyncrasies to (complain) about.
